Terrible customer service and integrity. We had the Flex Fuel kit on our car and were sold a tune that was advertised as smog legal but turns out it 100% was not in combination with our previous settings. None of these "professionals" ever disclaimed that this might be an issue but it ABSOLUTELY is. After multiple attempts to pass smog testing and failing we reached out to the shop over and over and over via phone, email, messaging etc. and met with virtually no responses. They assured us a product and then ghosted us when we ran into issues that we should have been warned about in the beginning. The meager suggestion they eventually offered was completely unsatisfactory and nothing more than a temporary bandaid that would temporarily fix the smog review but cripple my car afterwards and no solution for how to return it to its drivable capacity. They will not return your calls, they will not return your messages and they will ignore customers who have been loyal. My beautiful car is rotting in my driveway all because I purchased a tune I thought was safe and the so called "experts" assured me would be legitimate and legal but were more concerned with making money than retaining and respecting dedicated customers. read more

Who else makes a CARB-legal turbo kit for the BRZ? Nobody. There were some hitches with my install but that was two years ago when the 'rona was still wreaking havoc on schedules and they still got it done. I had a turbo gasket fail but they told me to check those bolts after a few heat cycles and I didn't get around to it so that's on me. Nothing has loosened up since. I wouldn't say it ran well on the base tune but one dyno session got the tune perfect and really let the hardware sing. Over two years and many miles later it still puts a stupid grin on my face every time I drive it. Subaru should sell them like this. read more

This review is long overdue. I wanted go the forced induction route for my BRZ for a while and after self debating between a turbo or a SC, I went with the turbo route. Due to the fact that I wanted to stay legal for reasons I shouldn't get into I needed it to be CARB compliant and WORKS was the only option for me to go for - and boy or boy they did not disappoint. I had questions regarding the product and installation time frame, they were really patient and helpful with making me more confident in my choice. Although the install took a few days longer than they originally estimated due to a seized bolt that ended up breaking, the wait was well worth it. Best of all, they kept me updated daily on the status of the install! After close to a year and about 8K miles running the CARB legal turbo, no issues and another happy customer. I'm not that "hardcore" into modding and tuning cars, but I did want to increase the performance of my ride in certain ways. After talking with them, Works had the perfect solution and my over all experience was excellent. They are professional all the way. I made an appointment with them on a Saturday and in 3 hours they had it all done - which surprised me because their garage was full of other cars being serviced. They pretty much do it all - tuning, modification, repair, and maintenance. I'll be coming here from now on to service my Mitsubishi. (They also service other Japanese and Euro makes as well). Works in located at Infineon Raceway, Sonoma CA. You'll have to check in with the gate person (sign the gate sheet) and then drive in. From the gate, take first left which takes you up a hill and around it. Keep going up that road. You will pass a go-kart track on the right and then the road ends at a large expanse of garages. Works will be in one of the first garage units you see (look for the Evos parked outside). It's advisable to ask the gate person where Works is because the race grounds are gigantic and you can get lost easily if you've never been there. read more

Hands down, the best shop I've ever had the fortune of taking my car to. The owner, Pete, is a former tuner from Dinan and has a degree in engineering and therefore knows cars inside and out. Their sales people are very honest people who don't lie to you about what is wrong with your car, what it will take to fix it and how long. If they make a mistake, they will own up to it and resolve the issue free of charge. Moreover, these guys can make your car perform. I took my 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution to these guys and it came out an entirely new beast of a car. I got a reflash, exhaust, coilovers, and a rear sway bar which made the car felt exactly like how Mitsubishi should have designed it from the get go. The parts and installation were flawless. Few weeks ago im having an overboost on my 12 ralliart. I called Jarrett and explained him what's the problem of my car, and let him know also that i have some parts need to installed. Then we set an appointment. Will in the shop we talked about full bolt on with an stock turbo for ralliart, at this time im kinda short parts but luckily they have the parts and sale them to me with a pair market price and all parts are top quality 9/10 for a used one (not bad at all). They find the problem about the overboost and its the crappy plastic bov for Ralliart. So they change it with an upgrade for an evo x, at the end we did a full evo x swap bolt on (still on stock ra). For my mechanic nike hands down to you man, told me what the old owners of the car did to it, so he did his expertise to make it like a new ralliart close to his older brother evo. Before we finish the day, The Professional tuner Pete with a 13years of knowledge in tunning and btw his the owner. He take his time tweaking my baby ralliart and making everything safe for engine and tranny. I went to WORKS to get my EVO X tuned and have a new exhaust installed. The sales person was very nice and he seemed very knowledgeable about the car and what was needed and unnecessary for the car. However, after getting the work done on the car, I found out that there was a "service engine soon" light that came on periodically. When I called them to find out what was going on, they stated " that happens to half the evo, we can sell you a gap if you want to stop that problem". I was not really upset but somewhat disappointing that they knew about this problem and prior to purchase did not mention anything about it and the solution was deal with it or buy something else to put on the car. Other than that, I am not sure if the tune had any changes in my car, I still feel like it drives the same. read more

I recently had a great experience taking my car to WORKS up at Infineon raceway. Their main focus is making race-cars of all types (touring cars, time attack, rally, etc.) out of Lancers & EVOs. They also work on Subarus (obviously), VWs, BMWs, Lotus...pretty much anything that isn't American. Their shop is located behind the Go-Kart track at Sears Point. I was really impressed with the shop after visiting it during a NASA HPDE event. Before even being a customer, they read a CEL for me, gave me a torque wrench to use on my wheels and had a nice place to crash during the mid-day heat. Pete, the owner, was formerly an engineer at Dinan and that level of professionalism is definitely carried over to WORKS. The garage bay was clean, well laid out and filled with a mix of street and track cars. The wall of Ohlins coilovers and the Exige in the bay was pure car-porn. So when I needed a few new parts installed on my car, I decided to give WORKS a shot. I am interested in track driving so it was great to work with a shop that has participated in dozens of events like the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, Redline Time Attack and Targa Newfoundland. Besides basic maintenance like an oil change and fitting fresh tires (Dunlop Star Spec Z1s), WORKS installed Kartboy Subframe Lock Bolts & Outrigger Bushings along with the TiC Tranny & Pivot bushings. I got a call from their tech Lars who talked me through what would be the best alignment setting (zero toe all around, roughly 2 degrees negative camber). He also corner balanced my car. I never thought my car's handling was skittish, but now I feel like any nervousness while turning is completley gone. The car feels unbelievably planted and a lot what I would imagine an M3 would feel like. Super-connected, confident and very predictable. Can't wait to see what it does at Thunderhill. All the parts were installed beautifully and I am very happy that I left my car with WORKS! If you are up at Infineon, go check them out. read more

Since I own a 2009 ralliart with an sst transmission! I spent hours and hours looking for a shop with sst experience. I didn't want to risk taking my car to a shop with little to no experience with the sst. If something would of gone wrong and my trans blew I'm out 12,000$ Anyways I came across works Motorsport and saw that they worked on evos and even had a ralliart of there own. I looked more In to it and read tons of reviews about this place and finally called a made a appointment to get my car tuned! Before coming in Pete the owner of works called me back and we talked about what's going to be done to the car and what kind of power I could make! Knowing that my trans can't take to much tq he told me that he would keep it at a safe level but still giving me a good amount of power!. The thing is I really liked how he told me about what's going to be done to the car and keeping the transmission safe! I've been to other shops and when I got tuned with them They basically just took my keys and told me to wait a few hours! Here at works They actually tell you what's going to happen and what to expect! After getting my car tuned! All I can say is WOW! I had a huge smile on my face when I got to drive my car home. Great power and tq and my sst feels amazing. No slipping of the clutches at all! I forgot to mention! I even had a turbo install by them! And they got the job done pretty quick. I have a 2006 Evo IX. As noted by the others below, I feel very confident in the team at Works. I have taken my car here after a Mitsubishi dealer botched an under warranty clutch repair - basically since they were there, I had them install an aftermarket Works clutch and flywheel. Well, the dealer's mechanic "accidentally" forgot to put in the fluid in the transfer case and it failed. I had no recourse as I had installed "aftermarket parts" (bozos at Capitol Mitsu) but Pete and the team of mechanics were persistent in getting me back on the road - I even got a 2 page list of all the errors the dealer's mechanic made. I find the camaraderie great, and team is very knowledgeable and straight up - they don't sell you things just to make a buck - they ask questions of your goals and I have been happy with all my updates thus far. I think it is admirable that they not only do ECU flash work and mechanical stuff, but they also have an engineering group that develops improvements for our beloved Evos. The build quality, fitment, and performance of the parts are top notch. Only minor gripe is that it sometimes takes a bit of time to get out the door on the day of pickup! read more

I looked around online and this shop is the most reputable and after a few calls, they do know their stuff. I took my Evo X in last year for a custom tune and to keep it carb approved they recommended a different setup than what I thought was a good set up and these guys did not try to up-sell me on anything and they are completely honest at what they do. It has been 13 months since the custom tune and the car is running as smooth as ever. I'm really happy with the service I got from works. Bring it here if you're looking for a tuner shop or maintenance for your favorite car. I bought it back for transmission oil changes and they got the car track ready before, they have been great every time. Over the past few years I have taken my BMW 325is, range rover and mazda miata to Pete and they guys at WORKS. It's not easy to find quality service for german, english and japanese cars at one shop. The rover can be a challenge as it is almost 20 years old and the miata because it has almost every option you can purchase from flyin' miata. The guys at WORKS never hesitated to work on any of these cars and consistently gave me excellent service. Work has always been performed on time and at, or under, the original estimate. On a number of occasions Pete has even fixed some minor issues that came up at no extra charge. Disappointed with the attention to detail on my visit. I scheduled a transmission flush in the hopes of a high performance fluid resolving a slight grind into 5th. They ended up using OEM fluid instead and it had no improvement. Now I have to get this re-done. Asked for an additional item to be done when I got there (swap in CAT for straight pipe) and they simply forgot to do this service. On top of that, during service they shut the car off via the turbo timer (even though it was only started for a few minutes to check for leaks) and this trigger my alarm (that I never used) and now I'v got to resolve that issue). Yes, there was paperwork on what was quoted and done, but I never read that... do you? I expect verbal exchanges to be followed too in a performance shop like this. I take responsibility for not double checking everything. I see lots of great reviews so it looks like my visit is more of an anomaly, but wanted to share my experience. read more

Went there to change out my clutch on my Evo X. This place specializes in tuners and they know what they're talking about. Clutch install was fast and I was able to pick up my car the next day. It is expensive, but if you want work done that you can trust then I recommend this place. I like to call this place 2 times works. And this is not a good thing. Every time we have brought our vehicle there they have said they fixed it only for us to drive away and find out they forgot to tighten a bolt, add a bolt or just simply screwed it up. Hence, two times before it works. Very disappointed in this place. Not only did they not wash our car after it being there for over a week, they let the battery die when we came to pick it up. Every time something has to be fixed it is very spendy. One would think they would at least apologize for their mistakes, they never do. They don't return calls quickly and they simply act like we don't matter. I rather think they're arrogant in how nonchalant they are when they make a mistake. I am giving them a one star because they do fix their mistakes eventually and one of the guys there is really nice but I would never take my vehicle there again. Like an idiot we tried several times because we wanted to like them. Big mistake. read more

Do not do business with this company online. I ordered Endless brake pads for a 135i, they sent me brake pads for a 128i so obviously they were never installed. They initially refused to refund my purchase, then they wanted me to send the brake pads to a third party for inspection and they would refund me 80% (20% restocking fee!!) of the purchase price if they were happy with them. I found this ridiculous when they sent me the wrong product to begin with. I had to go to my credit card company to get a refund. End result is that I am out of pocket for return shipping and bunch of wasted time. read more

Very....very...professional and knowledgeable about Evo's and I had no worries that they would be able to replace my clutch without having to worry! After the service was completed, the mechanic brought out my worn out clutch and flywheel and pointed out the obvious. WORKS is completely OCD in their auto inspections, and that's exactly what I was looking for. After calling over 20 local mechanics, I chose WORKS because they knew and could do the tests I was looking for at a reasonable price. I paid for a two hour pre-purchase inspection on a used Volvo, and they found a lot of potential issues, some so minor other mechanics would have ignored them, some not so minor. All of the issues they found were not urgent. However, based on the large quote they gave me (reasonable for the work to be done, which included a timing belt service), I almost returned the car to the dealership. But luckily, a mechanic friend of mine in a different city volunteered to fix the car for me for free. When my friend opened the car up, he said the car was in an "unusually good condition" for a car of that year and that I had gotten a great deal, which was not the impression WORKS had given me. But what did I expect? WORKS is used to precision-tuned racing machines. For example, WORKS recommended I replace the tie rods, which would improve my steering. My friend said the steering in that car, while not as good as in a new Volvo, is still better than in some new cars of other makes. This level of inspection detail may not be for everybody and it may not be cheap, but it makes me feel safer driving my car knowing that even potential issues had been identified. And I'm not worried that the mechanic may have forgot to tighten a bold somewhere - they are way too OCD for that! :) read more

I had been agonizing about a turbo for my 2014 BRZ since I got it. Subaru (Toyota?) just isn't going to put one one the BRZ/FRS/GT86. I had been talking to other shops who insisted that the cats have to come off. Then lo and behold I saw on the FT86 website that WORKS had just developed a turbo that is CARB legal! With tears in my eyes I slowly zoomed over to their shop in my stock BRZ, and had Kevin, with the help of Harry, Leon, and Yvette install a stage 2. Their design is elegant, efficient, and professional, and these folks are a pleasure to work with. Because I was interested they showed me the turbo design features, and I have rarely been so impressed. It was designed in-house, and they have tweaked it perfectly. I had a twin-turbo RX7, and I missed the 'whoosh' when I got on it. Now I have my 'whoosh' back! Thanks, WORKS! read more

I took my FR-S to Works to fix vacuum leaks and to make sure that my supercharger was installed correctly and functionally. They were quick on getting me in and selling me a Tuning license, Tuning cable, pre-mapped tune, and an aftermarket pulley. When I brought my car in, it was running rough and nearly undriveable. After a somewhat understandable delayed repair process, I received my car after being quoted initially only $300 for the job but walked out with a bill of over $1000. I figured this was fine, since I assumed my car was in top shape. I drive away and 3 minutes later on the freeway, my car started to bog like it did before I brought it in. The same day, I highlighted the issue and asked if I could bring it back in. In an email thread, I was bombarded with diagnostic questions that I did not have the time to troubleshoot since I'm at school full-time and work full-time. The responses were limited, unhelpful, and repetitive. I ended up fully parting my car out because I was so disappointed in the lack of post-sale customer service this place has and the unreliable performance my car had. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Unbelievable. $2000 down the drain along with my time. read more

Just wanted to give props and a big thanks to Pete at works. I brought my evo x to them after the stock "plastic" clutch master cylinder decided to go out on me. They replaced it and installed a few other upgrades. I've brought my evo X and my previous evo IX to them for the past 3-4 years and they've done nothing but A+ quality work.
