It's over 90° in the shade here today. I drove 9 miles, 5 on the freeway. I get here, go in expecting I'll have to entertain myself and keep my dog cool for a few hours close by and the guy behind the counter goes May I help you? I'm all Hi I have a 1 o'clock appointment for an oil change. He looks at me as if the wall behind me suddenly grew a big fat set of lips and said it. First response was we don't make appointments. Then he says Are you sure you have the right shop? I showed him the numbers I called and he says We only have one number and I'm the only one that answers. Hmmm yea so I dial the first # and it rings the phone in front of him. He says we'll that's us.....who did you talk to? Dude, you if your the only one answering. He says he never spoke to anyone about an appointment and besides they are booked 4 days out. Wait...what? But you sa.....ok whatever. So I call the 2nd # and Lo!! Behold the phone on the other counter rings. He looked at it with an "Well shucks by golly will you look at that!" expression. A little more denial&questioning and it felt like when the hands raised palm up on either side of that Alfred E. Newman look, it was a foregone conclusion. I'm wrong and nothing Pilat can do but wash his hands of it. I'm sitting in the parking lot hotter than the hood of my car. I called 3 times throughout the day to no avail! From the moment I called Northbay (on PB South-not the shop with poor reviews) and spoke with Ryan, I got better customer service than I had expected. He kindly answered my questions, got me on their calendar on the day and time of my choice-not first come first served while never knowing how long the wait would be, like my last auto repair shop. Northbay took care of everything from oil change, filter, complete annual service, including hoses, brakes, brake pads, suspension, inspections and battery test, tire rotation, rodent repellent device purchase and installation, purchased and replaced the rubber cowl guard that rats destroyed, smog test and certificate. My last auto shop sent me to a crowded, smoke filled run down place with no seating for a smog check. Ryan also gave me a 15% good customer discount on the labor even though I hadn't been there before. I believe the cost was equal to the extensive professional service they provided. When I brought my car in, one of the guys even gave me a ride home on his way to pick up something (5-10 minutes) because my husband was out of town. When Ryan called the next day to say my car was ready, my husband had just returned and dropped me off just minutes before closing, though Ryan had offered to send an Uber to my home in case I needed a ride. When I received a request to rate them, I gave them 5 x 5 stars which was well deserved. I've already recommended them and will continue to do so.

My 18-year-old son had spent the last 18 months saving to buy his first car. He connected with a technician named Fernando, who was unprofessional, difficult to communicate with, and changed the price of the lien sale vehicle twice during the process. He also tried to rush him into a purchase and tried to create a false sense of urgency that was unneeded. Very negative used-car salesman signals. Despite these red flags, my son was determined to purchase the 1999 Jeep Cherokee, so we proceeded with an independent inspection at a reputable shop in Santa Rosa. Fernando agreed to meet us at Coogler's Automotive on Piner Road in Santa Rosa for a third-party evaluation. The results were alarming. The vehicle had multiple SERIOUS issues that he was not honest about: - A loud growling noise from the rear, likely due to a failing bearing - Metal particles in the rear differential fluid - A fan clutch with missing bolts - Combustion gases present in the cooling system, indicating a probable head gasket issue or worse (failing motor) - A disconnected sway bar just hanging from the suspension system - And tons of other issues I don't feel like listing out When these issues were presented, Fernando immediately accused the shop of lying. What in the world??? Coogler's promptly displayed photo evidence right then and there and diagnostic reports, five in total, proving the presence of combustion gases in the engine. They even demonstrated that the repeated tests showed increasing levels of contamination as the engine ran longer. Undeniable evidence. And yet, Fernando still says "liars." Fernando insisted he was a skilled mechanic, but the facts clearly said otherwise. This kind of behavior, denying clear evidence, attempting to mislead a young buyer, and then RETALIATING against a reputable shop with a 1-star online review, speaks volumes about his and Pauline Automotive's integrity and professionalism. In my opinion, this company and it's ownership, which was notified about the issue and chose to do nothing about it, is not trustworthy. If this is how they attempt to misrepresent vehicles for sale, I can only imagine how they conduct themselves when it comes to repairs. Proceed with extreme caution.
