The namesake Pistachio Cardamom croissant was excellent for a filled croissant. It had excellent layers and the cream was just enough to add a lusciousness to each bite that wasn't too heavy. The madame lorraine was my other favorite. It was meaty and rich with the soft baked runny yolk and the light touch of rosemary was just enough to accentuate the bite. The not as good...a standard butter croissant. Maybe we got a dud but there was a serious lack of layers in ours and it wasn't as crisp or as buttery as I like. The elote corn croquiche filling was also quite salty which was a shame because the pastry layer was pretty good. I still have two more pastries to try but given the weight and the mixed bag, I definitely expected a lot more from Butter & Crumble. Pro tip: get a butter croissant at Arsicault, walk to B Patisserie and get a kouign amann. You'll have both before the line moves here.

When you arrive, look for an outdoor venue with a permanent food truck (before food trucks were cool) and outdoor seating. You'll be greeted by only the kindest Brit's you've ever met. Depending on how busy they are, they can get the food to you pretty fast considering they are deep within the tourist section of San Fran. 10-15 minutes. The cod has a crispy batter, fluffy inside, and tender white flaky fish. Perfectly seasoned to consume straightaway. If you'd prefer, their tartar sauce is also amazing. (Can't speak for the malt vinegar as that's not my thing.) Ditto for the shrimp. Medium sized, flavorful, and you can't have one seafood without the other. The fries are also perfectly cooked to order. I'm so happy to see, that in 2026, they are holding a 4.4 stars with over 3,532 reviews. I can't wait to visit them again. One of the cleanest "fried" food places this side of the coast. Only one place completes with them directly in my book down in Ventura. Way to go!

We walked there and it was an easy 10 minute walk from mid - Market street. We were impressed with the variety of options that were available to us. The smells that hit you when you first come in are so amazing and intoxicating. When my coworkers and I were ready to eat, someone saw us come in as a group and had a table prepared for us. The atmosphere felt like a bizarre. So full of life and so energetic. You could be there to either enjoy the food, or collaborate with your colleagues. It's was delicious and had it was pretty cheesy and it was a little flakey like some in SF. The ham was savory and tasty. I will come here again and try their different meat dishes.
