Was one of the worst tailoring experiences. Came in for a simple hem that cost $80 and they caused additional problems with the dress. It cases a ruffle at the thigh which they continued to deny. They refused to provide a solution without additional costs. Would not bring anything of high importance here. Will likely get ruined. The poor customer service, the way they insult your intelligence and the fact they only take payments in cash or Venmo speak to the shadiness if their service. If I would've been able to pay with credit card would have refuted the charge for failure of delivery of service. read more

We have had dresses altered, pants and sleeves on jackets shortened and Wo did a great job. When they have a question on an alteration they won't motor forward and mess up your clothes. This is the best place in nyc to get anything tailored. I had my wedding dress done here. It was PERFECT. and the price was reasonable (given that they had 3 weeks to do it). SUITS: My husband does all his tailoring needs here. The suits are transformed. Wo's understands what needs to be done to clothes to make them fit and also functional. they are experts and I would not trust anyone else with my clothes. expensive or cheap-you will look like a million bucks after she is done with you/ your clothes. Also, she is honest. I have brought a few pieces that she said were a lost cause and said that despite being able to do it, they would not look great. Disclaimer: I know the owner's son, but the review is an honest reflection of my opinions. As everyone has already mentioned, cash and checks only. Wo's Custom Tailoring has 3 important elements: customer service, attention to detail, and expertise. I brought a trench coat to Wo's to be altered because it was too loose and baggy on me. I was received warmly. Then I put on the coat and pointed out which areas I wanted to be altered. They listened attentively while I pointed out my concerns, and only after I was done speaking did they then provide me with feedback and explained why the coat couldn't be altered the way I wanted it to be altered. I like that they were willing to provide their expert knowledge despite the fact that it overrides the customer's wishes. They didn't force their opinion, but definitely addressed my concerns with their own concerns. After thinking about what they said, I decided to go with their suggestions and made a compromise. The turnaround time was very fast. I was told a week, but received my coat in just a few days. The craftsmanship was astounding. I admit I have no background in tailoring, but I seriously couldn't find where the alterations were made. Even the thread color matched perfectly. The fit was perfect, and I'm glad I listened to their suggestions, because only after putting on the altered coat did I realize that my requests were, indeed, unrealistic. I appreciate their candor and expertise. I will definitely be returning to have my higher quality clothing altered in the future. I worked with Sheila/Wo's to alter my wedding dress, which is an important task! To leave an expensive, beautiful thing in the care of someone you barely know would make anyone nervous. But Sheila set me at ease. She was detailed, honest, and caring. It was important to her that I knew how to safely and carefully handle my dress: how to hang it so the bodice wouldn't be damaged, how to zip and unzip the bag so as not to snag the fabric, etc--and she made sure my maid of honor knew, too! When we asked about any specific alteration, Sheila would take her time considering all options. She tried many different bra cups until we found the perfect combination. My dress came with almost zero bust support, which I desperately needed, and somehow I ended up with supportive cupping. When it came time to put in a bustle (something a different shop had said was impossible with my many-layered skirt), Sheila and her team devised a detailed bustle system and made sure that my bridesmaids knew how to do it. I would not have been able to even walk around my wedding without that bustle! Not to mention, the bodice fit perfectly, the straps hung delicately at my shoulders, and the skirt kissed the floor perfectly. Though I mostly interacted with Sheila, I know the team at Wo's was integral in perfecting the wedding dress of my dreams. I actually cried when I picked it up a couple days before my wedding. I have a long leather coat which I had not worn for two reasons: it had shoulder pads which made my already broad shoulders look like Joan Crawford in Mildred Pierce or Joan Collins in Dynasty (depending on your age). It also only had one button for closure which didn't boad well for cold days. So I brought it to Wo's. Lin was great translating the questions/answers between me and the tailor. I think he (the tailor whose name I forgot) considered the zipper a complex modification but he took on the job. We did the mods in two transactions: first he took out the shoulder pads and then he added the zipper. I now wear the coat as if it was tailored for me ... oh, wait, it was! I came here the morning before I had a wedding to attend (as the Best Man, nonetheless). I spoke with Sheila through Yelp to see if the shop could handle the time constraints I was placing them under. Sheila reassured me that they could get it done if I arrived as soon as they opened Friday morning. I was willing to pay whatever the price would be for the expedited alterations. When I visited the shop in person (around 9:30AM Friday), Ms. Lin took care of the measurements and pinning everything where it needed to be. Ms. Lin informed me that the jacket I purchased was a bit too tight in the arms for them to bring in the sides and make alterations to the shoulders. She was upfront in saying that the suit will not look how they normally tailor their suits, due to the tightness of the suit around my arms (I bought a 48" jacket and have 19" biceps). She stated that the suit will look better, but not perfect. I was perfectly fine with that. They ended up lifting the back of the jacket, shortening the sleeves, and shortening the legs of the pants. I'm not sure how long it took them to do it, but by the time I was able to get back to them by 530PM that same Friday, everything was completed. The suit fit much better than it did off the rack. I did receive numerous compliments the next day at the wedding. I also bombed my best man speech, but that's another story entirely. Whenever I have to wear a suit again, I'll be sure to come back to Wo's. However, I won't make the mistake of buying the suit online without trying it on and going to the tailor exactly 24 hours before I need the suit. read more

Came here few days ago to have my 5 jogger pants hemmed cuz' they're too long...it's so hard to find a great tailoring nowadays, but Mr Wo's is the one you need to go. I just got my pants yesterday and OMG ! they did a pretty good job! It looks like it's not been altered at all, just like the original. I went to "5 star" rated tailor after tailor but no one wanted to work on my my gown because it was either too much for them to handle, or it would take them way too long to complete. I walked into Wo's and what can I say, they are true professionals. I was greeted by friendly faces, everything in the store is neat and tidy, and I got professional advise as to what made the most sense for my tailoring needs and budget. They were very fast and got the alterations doen on time, when I went to try it on it still needed a small change and they did it right their on the spot by hand! I was super stressed after I got a pair of pants too long the day before a Christmas party. Luckily, Wo's Custom Tailoring was near my apartment and they took me in with a short notice! (Pretty sure they accept walk-ins, but I called in advance). Not only were they really nice and listened to what I wanted, they also made suggestions, which I took because it made more sense. I wanted to get a custom button down shirt made for my husband. I called Wo's first to ask if that was something they did (they said yes), what the ballpark cost was (they gave a good price range), and how much fabric I should bring, to which they said I should come in, I assumed because they would need measurements to know the yardage. I went in with my husband a few days later and when I explained that I was there to order a custom shirt, the woman acted like I was crazy and said it would take too long and to just go buy a shirt and wouldn't serve us. I don't know if the woman lied to me on the phone about them making custom shirts, or if she saw us and didn't like the way we looked and/or thought we couldn't afford it. I don't know why she said it would take too long to make when I didn't even tell her a time frame I was looking for. She didn't even ask what I was specifically looking for that I couldn't find premade. So now I have to start my search all over again to find a way to make my husband a unique shirt for our wedding later this year. read more

I had two pairs of very nice leather pants. I had gone to two different tailors before finding wo's because after reading reviews and referred by a friend, I needed a good place for leather pieces. I don't write reviews very often, but this place really went above and beyond for me yesterday so I felt the need to share. I had a dress that I ordered for a formal event arrive the day before and found out it was too big in the bodice. Figured I'd have to scramble to find something else to wear but since I'd had a good experience with Wo's Custom Tailoring before (they had altered a pair of pants for me), I thought I'd bring the dress in the morning before the event and ask if anything could be done. They very graciously agreed to take in the dress for me, and I picked it up FIVE HOURS LATER. It fit like a glove! The cost was very reasonable especially given the beautiful job they did and the quick turnaround time. I was able to wear the dress to the event like I wanted and it was perfect. I needed a dress fixed and hemmed for a holiday party I attended back in December 2016. Sheila was able to accommodate me just a few days before I needed the dress which was very nice of her. I brought the dress in and did the normal fitting and Sheila pinned everything. You can tell that she has been doing this for a very long time. Wo, who is the main tailor in the store came to ensure that everything was pinned correctly and that gave me confidence that everyone worked as a team to ensure as much perfection as they can for their client. They didn't make me feel rushed and I knew that my dress would turn out better than I could have hoped for. They are a little bit on the pricey side but if you have clothes items that you want to be tailored/fixed right, I wouldn't hesitate to bring my finer pieces to them to fix. I found Wo's earlier this year when I first began obtaining items for my wardrobe for work. Before I left the military, I did not have a need for suits, blazers, and more -- but moving to New York City and working in a corporate environment, I started trying to learn everything I could about sartorial details. I bought a classic navy blazer at Brooks Brothers, but the fit was a little boxy and I absolutely hated the gaudy, country club style gold buttons. Not only did Wo's alter my blazer's fit (to include the sleeves, which were too long), but they also were able to change all of the buttons to a beautiful smoky mother of pearl button that I found on Amazon, and even make the button cuffs functional with accent stitching on the last button! I also recently took in a vintage cashmere overcoat that my mom bought for my dad, but the coat fit my dad pretty horribly after he lost some weight. With dad and me being the same size, I acted as the "model" for the coat's alterations and I look forward to picking it up this week and adding to this review, because I'm sure it'll be a phenomenal job. I'll be bringing in my other suit jackets as well for sleeve modifications -- they can literally do anything you want, and are the absolute nicest people and experts at what they do. Drats, a 2-star review in the midst of all the 5 stars. Sorry guys, but I feel the need to voice my unpleasant experience at Wo's. They seem to specialize in working with leather, suits, and other heavy materials, but when I came in to have my work pants from Banana Republic hemmed they just didn't deliver. Mind you, I dropped off my pants with only ONE leg pinned. When I went to pick up my pants, I also tried it on in the store to double check the length. I noticed that one leg was higher than the other (about 1 cm). That doesn't sound like much, but one leg touched the floor and the other didn't. I brought this to the lady's attention and she said she'll give it back to the tailor to fix it. While waiting, I realized that they didn't even ask which length I preferred. How do they know whether I wanted the longer vs. shorter length?? When I asked them how they were altering the pants, they responded- shorter. That is NOT what I asked for, but I'm glad I brought it to their attention to keep the pants longer. I'm not trying to sport flood water pants here. 2nd fitting done. Pants fit right. Glad to have my pants back, but the stitching of the alteration was barely holding on. It was substantially spaced out on the bottom. Despite the incorrect hemming job and additional waiting time, what really annoyed me was that they failed to simply say "sorry for the inconvenience" or "thanks for waiting". Maybe they didn't feel inclined to apologize to a 20-something youngin' for a mistake on their part, because, you know, what would I know about workmanship, right? I disagree. My parents owned a tailoring store for many years in the past and I know what to look for. Altering pants is one of the most basic tasks. I expected more here. PS- cash only and the altered pants cost $15. Hope you have a better experience here than I did. I will not be coming back or recommending them. read more

Wo's definitely has a nicer, cleaner, more upscale vibe than your typical tailor / cleaners, which are usually cramped into a small, dingy storefront. Great open space and nice lighting. Very friendly lady led me into a back area where I could try on my winter coat and explain what I needed - fairly complicated sleeve shortening due to a zipper built into the sleeves. Two Chinese ladies and a gentleman took their time diagnosing the issue and then gave me my options, in fact recommending the cheapest and simplest fix. Picked up my coat 5 days later and they had done a great job. Quality craftsmanship down to the detailed stitching pattern. Price was very fair at $30. Not dirt cheap, but at Wo's you will get what you pay for! The folks who run Wo's are SUPER friendly, knowledgeable, work well together, and are familiar with most all tailoring issues, whether simple or complex. read more

This was my first experience with Wo's tailor. It has a nice decor with an upscale vibe (see photos above). A friendly lady greeted me and escorted me to the back. She translated for Wo, and we took time to discuss a few alteration options. The man is experienced and knowledgeable. I had the sleeves of my overcoat shortened and a shirt slimmed down. They did a fantastic job. The sleeves were complicated (double layer) and the final product was as good as new. They also did an excellent job with the shirt, right down to the details. It now fits me like a glove. The price is reasonable and is on par with another tailor nearby. I'm satisfied with their work and will definitely be back. I recommend this place. read more

I have brought back multiple suits that have required everything from a small patch to a full reconstruction of the jacket and the quality is always top-notch.
