The nightmare is finally over with this internet provider. Summary since my last review: -Multiple "unexplained" outages. -Discount periods became less and less where I was calling every two months to get a new one re-applied -Final discount ask was not granted and I was only given a slightly higher speed -Cable re-bury effort after our line got cut was redone 5 times and still kept popping up. They claim to bury 18 inches but it looked like 4 or 5 inches at best -Unexplained bill increases. Most likely pulling back their covid-era speed increases by charging their customers. -Customer service chat/phone call is the worst I've ever dealt with. Agents need to have the issue repeated multiple times. You're reporting an issue and they say "excellent, I'm glad to hear that and hope you're doing well". Either not understanding or not listening. -Canceling was very painful. Could not be done through chat, had to be done over the phone, was transferred 4 times and kept getting asked to renew. I'm still getting calls and emails to reactivate my service. I also had to pay Fedex to ship my equipment back, I couldn't drop them off at this location. I know most internet/cable companies are poor but WOW is by far the worst I've ever had. Avoid at all costs. read more

Wow, this is a terrible company. Not only are their prices high, but the customer service is insulting. I logged into my account online the other day to find that I did not have auto-pay turned on. It also prompted me to pay my bill immediately to avoid late fees. I did so, and I also spoke with customer support via chat that same day to make sure everything was all set. After checking my bank account, I noticed that they charged me twice. I reached out to their customer support via chat, and they told me they could not give me a refund for the duplicate charge for 10 days. I then called their customer service number, where the agent told me it was my fault and spoke over me. They told me no refund is available for 30 days, and they're trying to offer me a gift card instead of a refund. This was an absolutely insane experience, I immediately canceled my service with them and would never recommend. Big scam. read more

It took multiple calls, enduring difficult to understand agents, multiple attempts to get her to agree to "new deals", not taking "no" for an answer, and then making canceling sound like a difficult process. Let's face it. WOW has frequent service lapses. We are experiencing one for the past 24 hours. I called ito inquire about it yesterday and requested that I be reimbursed for the lost service time. They approved my request. As of today, my bill will be credited $10.00. They will not credit you for lack of service until you get on the horn to request it. It would seem like the honorable thing they would do to all customers even some don't have the wherewithal to request that refund. But we don't live in an honorable society. They double charged me for Youtube TV, they wouldn't assist me with the double charge. So i stopped payment on my credit card and I canceled all my services. After more than a decade of being a loyal customer, I finally had enough with their intermittent service. Over the years, I have paid for their cable TV and internet service. A few years ago, after enduring service interruptions, I decided to hook up my TV antenna and drop the cable TV service. That way, when WOW service was interrupted, I could still watch all of the local TV stations while I waited for the internet to return. A few years back, I was visited by a salesman for AT&T who said that fiber optic cable was headed my way. I took his info and promised to contact him. Then I lost the info. Last month another AT&T salesman was traveling from door to door. I had just gotten out of the shower and only had shorts on, but I sat down on my porch steps and we had a chat. I probably took up 20-25 minutes of his time, but we came to an agreement and I asked to sign up for internet and VOIP. An installation appointment was made and soon I had new service. Wide Open West doesn't offer refunds for their outages. In the way of customer service, that would be a step in the right direction. If my electric service was intermittent, you can be that Detroit Edison would hear from customers demanding a refund, and the Michigan Public Service Commission would start an investigation. One bright spot in this whole mess - at 1100 on 16 AUG 2020, I cancelled their service. I was a Wow internet customer for a few years. After I moved I was unable to continue service with them due to them not offering internet in my new town. I contacted customer service about returning the internet router and was told they would send me a box to return it. After multiple attempts to get this box sent to the correct address, they kept sending it to my previous one, they told me I could drop the router off in a drop box. This was due to COVID restrictions. I was informed that everything would be taken care of and our service was cancelled and router returned. I had faith that they were being honest and truthful with these assertions. Now a few years later I have a third party collection eastern account systems on my credit report due to them claiming I owe the cost of the router, even though I returned it. I have been having terrible internet service the past two weeks. Supposed to be up to 1000 mpbs, I am usually at maybe 10, often 0. performance at work is suffering, since I work from home. Computer is freezing can't attend meetings or do my job in a fast paced environment. I have made multiple calls to the Wow help desk, doing all the usual things many times over that I tried myself. Nothing works after over an hour of trouble shooting, they finally agree to send someone out. Gave me a window of 8 am to 8 pm. Shows up at 7 pm. After an hour of work, he decides its the cable leading to the house has some water in it but it was dark so he'd come back in the morning. I was fearful letting him leave with it unfixed, asking him multiple times in various ways, 'you promise you'll be back?.... 'you'll be back, right? ' and he promised, again and again, first thing tomorrow morning.. 'in fact, i am going to tell my boss it is a priority' he said. Well, the next day comes, nothing. No call, no show, nothing all day long. I call cable again the next day... they can't schedule again until the weekend. They scheduled to come on a Saturday, between 3 pm and 5 pm, so I make it a point "be back home by 3" well i'm out and about at 215 and get a call: "the technician came to your house at 2:15 and when you weren't home we closed the ticket, but now we realize it is our mistake" she says they will reschedule for next week, I say 'thats ridiculous, i'm calling the Better Business Bureau".. she later calls back and says they can come later that day, around 5 pm. So I sit at home and wait. They show up. A new cable is hooked up in the back of the house, and internet speeds return. yay! THEN, after they fix their cable, I get charged $65! I call (waste another hour of my work day) and i'm like 'what the hell?' and they basically said 'you should have bought the protection/warranty service' After having nearly unusable internet for 2 weeks, and their line is the problem, and I have to pay for the fix. But wait.. that's not all: when the Technician was here, he switched up cables, and it was days later I turned on a not very often used TV, and one of our cable boxes doesn't work at all, not getting any feed, and hell if I know how to switch it so it works. I turned off my auto-pay so that I can withhold payment. Fix this, or sue me for payment. read more

I have been a loyal WOW! customer for over20 years. The beginning of July my WOW! email account froze up. 1). Unable to switch users, 2) Unable to log out of the account that did work. Four weeks later and after speaking to 8 service reps (amounting to several hours), the ninth service rep (the supervisor) was able to partially fix the problem. I was without my emails and address book for a month. Still charged full price. Sadly, only one of the 9 reps with whom I spoke actually spoke English first language. All the others displayed varying degrees of comprehension of my technical problem, not to mention my inability to understand much of their verbiage. Two were speaking from the Philippines and Guatemala. Others unknown. I have communicated well with other ESL-speaking people while in the paramedical field for over 40 years. Not so with WOW! reps. Twice I was promised a callback from advanced "networking" people, never happened until I threw a fit and demanded a supervisor on my last call (#9). My bill has been rising steadily over time and has become outrageous. Today I dumped them and now have internet supplied through my cell phone provider at 2/3 the cost. Works great. We had been experiencing intermittant internet outages for a couple of months..the first technician sent out replaced our modem but that didn't solve our problem.Wow ended up sending out another technician named Henry.He was knowledgable..patient..very dedicated to solving the problem which ended up being our wiring on the pole outside had been chewed by critters/squirrels.He was quick..efficient and replaced it.Happy to say our problem is fixed...Thank you Henry!! read more

Ever since switching to WOW TV+ we have had nothing but issues which WOW has not resolved. We only switched because the cable bill went up $20/mo. And then was scheduled to go up another $40/mo. the next month. They sneak in small increases and give you discounts that last for only 6 months and never notify you. When I called and asked for the customer retention department he refused to transfer me or give me the number! 0/5. They don't care that you have been a customer for over 23 years. I recently had reason to pull a copy of my credit report. Imagine my surprise in finding an ongoing collection of $900 by Credit Management out of TX for an account opened in 2/2014 with Wow! Cable. Except I didn't have Wow! Cable in 2014. How this reads is that I opened up an account with them in 2/2014, and it went to collections in 4/2014 and in that short time, I accumulated an exactly $900 bill. How is that even possible? It's not. Because I actually had Comcast during this time. But I didn't notice that this co. out of TX (I'm in Detroit), junk debt buyers, had put a $900 collection on my credit because of Wow! Cable. I have not had an outstanding $900 bill from Wow!, I have never been contacted by them or any non-descript collection group, ever, at all. I ran my credit report and this has been sitting on there for 2 years, but because I don't usually pull it, I did not notice. Everyone who has done business with Wow! should pull a free copy of their credit report. How does this even happen? And how did I run up an exactly $900 bill with them in less than 2 months? It's not even possible. Luckily with a lot of going back and forth, I was able to get it removed off of Experian. Before I saw this, we called to see about getting our slower Internet speed from what it was, I think 20 Mb, to their advertised 100 Mb, then later to the 500 Mb, we were told what everyone else is, that it's for NEW customers only. What? That makes 0 sense if you want to keep customers. But not apparently to "keep" us, they are lying and saying we all "signed" contracts, tho this is over the phone, so now they recorded you verbally, except there is no way they're able to find that recording of you agreeing to any contract. Now Wow! speeds are up to 1 Gb, but forget it if you are a paying, loyal customer, because you get to keep the slow speeds and they have no real reason. Our bill has also kept going up, here and there. I now see on our bill there is a monthly $3.99 fee for their "monthly guide" magazine. We didn't subscribe to this or agree to it, were not even told, they just started adding it to the bill. Check your bill too, the $3.99 is probably on there. This is exactly like the illegal practice of "cell phone cramming", but it's a cable provider doing the same thing. There is also no way any longer to see an "itemized bill", even in their PDF. The main page says we have "Medium Cable Plan" and "WOW! Internet". On the PDF it says " WOW! Renewal Bundle Plan = $140.00 Includes: Medium Cable Plan, WOW! Internet" So what speed? What channels? Then it has "After a 30-day period, Early Termination Fees of up to $165 MAY apply if you cancel your subscription to Annual services during the term of your agreement." What annual service agreement? When did it start? When does it end? Next up "05/29-06/28 5 Yr Renewal Discount ..........................-$22.50 $22.50 off Cable for 5 Years 05/29-06/28 5 Yr Renewal Discount ..........................-$22.50 $22.50 off Internet for 5 Years" I can say for a fact, we never signed up with Wow! for any 5 year contract. To nickel and dime every month: -a year ago our package "deal" was $105, now it is $140 -broadcast TV fee was $6.65, now it's $10.20 -Franchise fee went up $.60 and they are adding Sales Tax (!!!) to their monthly magazine we never asked for But ours had started to sneak up little by little too. Then they can't give their customers any of the deals that they advertise, they're only for "new customers", which is really unheard of. Same with their pay channel deals. When you call them, half the time they're in another country and I for one can't understand what is being said. Right now they're offering speeds of 1 Gb to their new customers, only. We are stuck at 65 Mb, tops. "WOW! also offers a 30-day guarantee where you can cancel your service for free. If you cancel outside of that first 30 days, however, it will cost you $345 for an early termination fee. The fee will decrease by $15 each month into your contract." Did anyone agree to a $345 early termination fee? For cable? They're like Sprint cell phone bills were in 2004. How is this legal? We didn't enter into or agree to any contract like this, I don't see it on their site or our bill, so they're obviously NOT forthcoming, it's on a review site. Highly recommend that you remove all of your saved billing info., they had 5 of ours, especially if you cancel so they can not get into your account. Finally, if you pay with a credit card or debit card, you can do chargebacks. Don't let them put random bills on your card or take money out of your bank account. And if they put something negative on your credit report, dispute it. Force the credit reporting agencies to supply PROOF to whatever they say you agreed to, and that proof is a signed contract with Wow! I decided to get Wow because it's the cheapest service and being a single Mom I need all the deals I can get. I was told on the phone that my bill will be $53 per month but when they came in to install the equipment they decided to add a piece of equipment and they told me what's it's for but they didn't tell me that it was going to cost me an additional $20.Once I received my first bill I was very upset to find the additional fee. I wanted to return it but I couldn't due to Covid. I heard from family members that they have a drop box but I shouldn't put my equipment in there because my Grandfather did and Wow said they lost it. Wow was going to charge him but my family was not about to have that happen so they complained and Wow magically found the equipment. I've had this thing unplugged for awhile now but I'm still being charged for it. So I called again today and found out I can't have it mailed to them.... why didn't the customer service tell me that the first time. I would have this thing out of here in a heartbeat. Got that notice three days after the cutoff date. I have not used the service for over a year. So cancel my service within minutes of opening the notification. On top of that, if I didn't miss any payments for the first 3 months I get a $200 gift card. I have auto payment set up so I never missed a payment but they said I did. Before the conversation ended they called me a bitch because I wouldn't let to $200 gift card go. Just all together they have a terrible customer service base. I had WOW cable and tv for 6 years. I don't know if I fully understood how horrible it was until I moved to a location where I could get xfinity. Now I am motivated to make this review. I had never heard of wow until I moved to my condo in royal oak. I had googled wifi in the area and wow got my address from there and showed up at my doorstop the following day and offered to set up my service. This is how I became a Wow customer. When we had the tech set us up, our wifi speed was so slow and unreliable. We aren't gamers and didnt think we had an abnormal amount of devices. We had them make some changes and it resulted in our lower level being a dead zone. This was totally annoying as we had an office down there. When we had someone out to repair something a few years ago, they told us our wifi package was a basic package. They said we should upgrade it and it would be better. We did the upgrade and had two separate networks. One old one and one new one and devices could pick both up which was challenging and strange. When they happened they also ended up deleting my entire DVR which they said would not be happening. My husband had to work remotely during the pandemic and whenever he was on a Zoom or Teams meeting, he would freeze on the screen and his coworkers would tell him to get some real internet!!! Our boxes were never updated (besides the additional wifi box added) but we did get new remotes when the play button stopped working on the old remote. The customer service was absolutely horrendous. There has not been a day in the last two months that I have not had to unplug my modem, router and disconnect the cable to get my service back online at least twice. Recently, I was actually able to watch an entire movie without a re-start. The internet service has become unreliable and the customer service is useless. I don't need someone telling me to unplug my modem, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in before they tell me it must be a cable problem that they can fix for a small per hour service fee. Worst company I've ever dealt with. Had service with them for 2 years sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. Sold the house and discontinued the service but they wouldn't listen to me on returning the equipment I asked them to send it to a specific address they didn't they wanted my address I was traveling out of state for work and I only had a post office box they wouldn't take that. The people were rude and could not provide me with a mailing label to send the equipment back I hung on to the equipment while traveling out of state. Meanwhile they apparently charged me almost $800 for the equipment that they didn't help me return even though I tried showing up in person at one of there stores. I didn't get the bills so I didn't know I had to pay them and then they turned it over to a collection agency nearly two years on I am back to the state where I started from and trying to buy a house when I can't get a mortgage why because wow has no trashed my credit. One call to the kind person at the collections bureau in 15 minutes later I have a deletion letter in my email which enabled me to get the mortgage however I had to return the equipment back to wow within 40 days and guess what while said that they were open in person cuz I'm not willing to trust them if I just drop it off and they won't ship me a mailing label again and guess what they still aren't open to collect my equipment there is just a drop box and guess what I don't have a box to put it in I don't trust dropping it off and having wow actually receive it. So now I'm back to square one. Unhelpful unfriendly unfair and there I say it liars they said I would get a box they didn't send it they promised me stores were open they're not. read more
