Haven't been to this venue for many years until this week. We attended a function there with many people that we knew but had not seen in several years. The setting is very casual and pleasant suiting large parties. The cleanliness and attention from the waitstaff definitely has improved. Every course was timely and carefully positioned for those dining at the tables. The salad was scrumptious the rolls were fresh and tasty; the pasta was covered with a sauce that was thoroughly delicious, and the chicken on the bone was tender, offered in white and dark meat as requested, and perfectly cooked in large portions. The last course of a chocolate and vanilla ice cream roll hit the spot! We cannot say enough for this venue when one has a large croup to please. read more

We went for a wedding and the service was excellent! Although it's plain and simple, I love the salad. They bring out the chicken last so you get your fill on the fries and pasta. There was a lot of dark meat, I couldn't find the white meat. The chicken was cooked perfectly so it fell right off the bone and had great flavor. Maybe it used to be better when I was a kid, but I am not a fan. Some of my family enjoys going to Wrights's and I try and find excuses not to go because the food is just not good. It's a gigantic place. It seats a lot of people and because of it it's usually pretty loud. The servers were friendly enough. My biggest gripe is the food. The salad is soggy, the pasta is over cooked, the chicken is dry, yet greasy, the french fries are meh. The only thing that I don't mind is their dinner rolls. A very big complex. A huge gift store. A bar area with seating reminded me of American legion hall with keno. A big dining room and another area for larger groups. Helpful and friendly staff. Very engaging. Family style dinner that comes with a bit of everything in white bowls. Baked chicken. The dark meat falls off the bone. The breast was a bit dry. Both were tasty. Pasta shells with a good tomato sauce. A mixed salad that looked and tasted close to sell by time. And two cold buns per person with cold butter packets that made it difficult to spread. It's all you can eat. But if you only have one serving you're able to take leftovers home. Drinks other than water were extra as well as ice cream for dessert. Overall a good experience. Priced well. Ideal for large groups or families with similarly large appetites. read more

I think I'm one of the few people in RI that just doesn't love Wright's anymore. Rather than tell a story, I'll give a rating on the food in my opinion... The salad: slimy and the dressing is nasty. The chicken: somehow it's pink and dry at the same time... WTF. The pasta: needs way more sauce than what the give. The fries: the best part of the meal along with the rolls and the chicken ice cream. I would say they could improve on other things, like how they should use bigger glasses for soft drinks so they don't spill all over the table each time. But Wright's is a stuck in its ways kinda place. Stuck in time since what seems like the 1940's. They wouldn't listen. They don't wanna hear any criticism of how they can make the experience more enjoyable. Not to mention I caught a stomach bug at the same time I ate their food. I cannot eat this food anymore. This was a spot I visited a bit as a kid, and on a quick trip home this weekend my father suggested it as a dinner option after picking me up at the airport. Sadly it didn' hold up to my memories, or maybe my tastes have just evolved, either way it was a bit disappointing. Forever they had only ever served chicken meals, but at some point in my absence they added steak. Pricing is high for what you get. Yes it's all you can eat (chicken only, but not steak), but $20 for all you can eat broasted chicken, fries and randomly pasta is a massive profit margin for the house. The food was OK, the chicken was a bit greasy/slimy , the fries lacked much flavor and the pasta with jarred sauce wasn't anything to write home about. Waitress was friendly and attentive at refilling waters and seeing if we needed any additional food brought out. The interior could certainly use a facelift, it definitely hasn't changed since I was a kid, still like dining in a nursing home dining room. I went there with my family (3 adults and 4 kids under 12) last night to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation and arrived a few minutes early and were taken right in. It didn't take long for our table to get served, a good thing with kids in the party. The food is another story. The salad was greasy, the chicken was dry, and the French fries were soggy. The macaroni was okay. The service was excellent. The bill came to 118.40, plus $30.00 tip. If you want a good family meal, go to Macera's Restaurant in Cranston. What I usually get for the same group of people, is their Family Special: 4 Roasted Half Chickens, 1/2 gallon of Chicken Soup, 4 orders of Salad, Penne with Red Sauce and bread. $55.00 and it's fresh and delicious! read more

Actually that's not true, I do make a few choices and I feel like people aren't aware you can make request and it effects their meal. You can order all white meat, so you all get a good big piece. I was here about four years ago when I reviewed this place before. This was a restaurant that I went to with my family for years and we thoroughly enjoyed it each time. In my last review of it, the food was not great. Service was horrible and they served us drinks in water glasses that were I swear, intended for babies. Not to mention they did not give us free refills and the refills cost us about four dollars each time. After that whole experience years ago, I did not think I would be returning, but after deciding for a while, I revisited this restaurant with a group of family members to try it again. This time around they actually served pictures of soft drinks and good size glasses. The chicken was moist, juicy and tender and flavored very well along with bringing back their wonderful fries which we did not have the last time. The original fries are so much better than the cheap ones. They had a couple years ago. Roles are nothing special and salad. Could've definitely used more dressing. Pasta was fine but all in all it was a relatively good experience and I'm glad that we went. Service was a lot better and staff were friendlier. We did not even need refills for anything. We were good in full with the portions. However, we did place a to go order for a chicken dinner and they failed to tell us that the portions for certain sides were incredibly dinky compared to what we had on the table. We were told that they were the same size portions that you would get on the table but when we brought it home, we had a small amount of chicken pasta salad, two rolls and we had an entire bag of french fries more than any of the other food. Pasta was in a measly container that was enough to feed one person. Same goes for the salad as well. And two rolls? That seems hardly fair considering they had about six of them at the table. When we asked them prior to purchasing this at the Togo counter, they did state that this is the exact same. Same meal that you are getting at the table and there was no reduction in size or anything like that for what they stated. Obviously that was misleading and they could've been honest about that. Otherwise, I think it was a relatively good experience and I would definitely come back here again for a nice family style meal. Although this spacious restaurant can accommodate many guests, the limited, predictable menu consistently misses the mark in terms of delivering high quality food. Our waitstaff on Wednesday night, while highly efficient, seemed to lack social awareness and courtesy. My son and his friends were being given awards for wrestling. Parents at my table were trying to get pictures and videos, and the waitstaff simply didn't care. They walked in front of the camera, and in some cases, lingered while parents were clearly trying to get a good shot of their kids. Additionally, the chicken was extremely dry, the pasta was hard, and their overpriced drink portions were mostly small glasses filled with ice. I've tried this restaurant many times over the past 30 years and haven't had one great experience here. If you are looking for efficiency and edible food that can feed a large amount of people, then this would be your place since we have limited options in RI. If. If you're a tourist, this place is prime kitsch! It honestly felt like I was at grandma's having dinner with my family. My parent's and grandparents would love this place. Although the menu was simple, it was generous - they feed hundreds of customers a night and they have the factory part of mass production down to a science. The chicken was very moist and boiled to perfection; definitely the pinnacle of Irish-American cuisine. My relatives revel in bland, flavorless cooking which Wright's does perfectly. There was even some salt at the table in case you wanted to "spice things up". The fries were really good. The bread tasted quite fresh. For a chicken farm restaurant they only give you one nice piece of fresh chicken breast on the top, the rest is mostly greasy skin and chicken bones. So if they do not place the chicken platter in front of you, someone else will grab the one good piece. And the rest is absolutely disgusting. How is it possible for roasted chicken to be both disgustingly greasy and dry at the same time? We found out this weekend when we returned to this human feeding trough for the first time in over a decade. The pale, flaccid chicken seemed to be completely lacking in any seasoning, but the grease was so abundant that the bowl nearly slid out of my hands when it was passed to me. Salad is pre-dressed, limp-ish, and tasted like yesterday. And the pasta was a bowl of plain shells with a dollop of what tasted like a fine blend of tomato paste and ketchup. Soft drinks were served in small cups filled with ice, and you're charged for refills. French fries were oily, but still represented the shining star of this abysmal slopfest. We overheard a server explaining to the table next to us why they couldn't take home leftovers unless it was their first helping (people order seconds of this prison food?). She went on to explain that all food waste is taken to a farm where it is fed to pigs. What on earth did those poor animals do to deserve that kind of cruelty? How is it possible that this restaurant manages to be so packed full of willing and eager customers, when RI is crammed full of amazing restaurants at reasonable prices? They're clearly trading on the sheer volume of food that customers can eat for their $20 chicken dinner, and then complain about how they couldn't bring home leftovers from their third helping of this swill. read more

I visited for the first time and the restaurant is huge! They have a few different dining areas and two bars you can drink at. The way back is for events, so you have a private area away from other customers but still in the same building. There is plenty of seating, but I would probably reserve if I had more than 10 people. There is a good list of signature cocktails. I really liked the Caribbean Sailor, which had a lot of flavor. The dinner is family style. The food comes out in giant bowls for everyone to share. A bowl is replenished once it is finished. I started with the salad and I practically ate the whole bowl by myself! They use a dressing made in house and I was addicted. I found out you can also buy the dressing in their gift shop! Then I had some pasta with marinara sauce. The marinara sauce is also made in house and available for purchase. They have parmesan containers at the table to top yourself. The French Fries are fresh and delicious. They are not too crispy and cooked well. I usually don't eat fries but I kept grabbing more and adding parmesan cheese on top haha. Lastly the chicken was super juicy. They are baked very well! This is where you go when you're ready to leave your promises to "control myself" at the door and just surrender to the poultry gods. Before you even blink, you're faced with an array of golden chicken, pasta, fries, and salad, all appearing like magic on your table faster than you can say, "Wait, I'm still chewing." The servers are like food sherpas leading you up Mount Fried Chicken whether you like it or not. They'll keep refilling the table with loads of food and you WILL eat more because it's SO good. Salad and rolls come out first. Salad was pretty much just bagged salad mix with a few tomatoes- it was a bit soggy. We pretty much ignored the rolls- because the meal is pretty much all carbs. Chicken was good - legs were over cooked and drumsticks not edible, breast meat was good. We asked for one more piece of dark meat, but was told we couldn't then take home the white meat we had- so we just didn't bother. French fries were steak fries and were good. Shells and sauce were meh. We found out you can get whole frozen chickens to go cash and carry- great deal for those (2/$5) - got a few and will use to make soup. I think the slab of ice cream was an extra buck. The salad arrived uneventful, looking like it was sitting in salad dressing for a couple hours. I would pass on this. The dinner arrives family style, with the half chicken on your plate. The pasta was mini shells with a sauce with no flavor. The pasta was overcooked. This was completely undesirable. The sauce was terrible, enough to make any decent cook cry Awful. The french fries were soggy. Why are you serving two starches? The chicken, was almost rotisserie style. The chicken was seasoned correctly, fairly flavorful. The skin was rubbery like it had been sitting. The ice cream was that triple flavor strawberry vanilla, chocolate. This was a pleasant ending to a ho hum meal. This is definitely a destination point; and you're usually arriving there via bus. If you gone once in your life, consider it an experience. If you have gone more than once, pity on you. I understand that baby showers, wedding showers, and weddings are held here. Why! ? There are so many great restaurants in Rhode Island, this is not one of them. But come for the experience, at least once and try it. It's in the middle of nowhere and a great ride here. Wright's Farm is about as unchanging and unwavering as the the rock ribbed rectitude of old-world New England. It has been at least three decades since my last visit to Wright's (before that frequenting this landmark almost weekly as a starving undergrad at nearby Bryant University) and I am deliriously happy to report that nothing has changed. The all-you-can-eat deliciousness of fall-off-the-bone broiled chicken, pasta shells, salad and orgiastic fries has not been encroached upon by either time or the brutality of modern restaurant economics. Wright's remains frozen in time, offering well-scrubbed wood and Formica atmospherics that could easily conjure up ghosts long dormant since the days of Russell, Yastrzemski and Havlicek. This is soul food that does not require a soundtrack from Stax or Motown only an appetite for simple and ample fare expertly prepared. A classic landmark that deserves every accolade and hosanna. Wright's farm is a truly deserving Rhode Island icon built one fowl at a time. read more

I'm a fan. I'd never experienced something like this before coming to Rhode Island. I've utilized them for catering events, as well as dining in. Pasta, protein, salad, keep em coming! They do lose some quality in the sheer mass quantity of output. Having said that, they are consistent. They deliver over and over again precisely what they offer. Never an overpromise, underdeliver scenario. The staff are like a hive of bees running amok with all the business coming through the door. The little shop is a nice added touch whilst you wait.
