Is it real Italian?? not really, but it is good. Had a few starters... one was the burrata eggplant. It was ok... burrata does not melt, so it is not like other rolatinis or something like that. But it was ok once i asked for red sauce to pour over it. They have this chicken parm that they bring over the chicken and pour the hot cheese over. Very cool dish and tasty. Makes it with Vodka sauce. It tastes fine, but would be better with just marinara (all of us decided that).... Wife had frito misto and enjoyed it too. It is an app, but plenty of food for one small gal. Then ordered desert... very nice they brought us out mini-cannolis for our birthday. We ordered the Tiramisu. It did not come out cold and they put a big glob of choc mousse on top..... who needs that if the tiramisu is good. But the Tiramisu we all decided was not very good. So now the bill comes....When you get the bill they add 15% service fee on there.... for what? The back of house, part is a tip and the rest are owner trying to gouge you so you feel you should give another 20%. I truly hate this..... Look if this is what you expect then charge me $2 more for the dinner... charge me another $1 for the drink.... etc. This is not right. When will you ask me if I went to the bathroom and add $1. All of this is getting out of hand. But here is the coup de gras. So we leave and our friends had valeted. We asked the waiter if they validate and he said yes, I think you get $5.00 off. So we get out there and the valet says... oh yes you get $5.00 off. So my friend hands him $10. NO, it is really $20. But you get $5. off when you eat...... What a money grab, because you know the owners get $$$ from the valet company. Stay away and don't get ripped off. This place is a clip joint and we are one and done!

We purposely made a late afternoon reservation to avoid crowds and ensure we had time to relax and enjoy. We arrived at 4:30 and got to select a spacious table for four, even though there were two us, and relax. Megan, our server was truly excellent, patient, friendly and fun. Due to my dietary restrictions, I had to ask some questions and made a request or two but Megan handled it all very gracefully. Every drink and dish was unique, stunning and tasty. The decor is tasteful and the small details were quite impressive. Even the philosophy and story are well thought through and interesting. Valet parking is nearby and appreciated. It got busier the longer we stayed but the staff had it together. Nobody rushed us and we enjoyed every moment and morsel. Life is good with a fine, special dinner in St Petersburg.

Then Charred Octopus Appetizer ($19). Then a superb Truffle Aioli Burger with Caesar Salad ($19). Finished with Crispy Brussels Sprouts ($9). Wing Man Gary (UASF Pilot, Retired) had the Grouper Sandwich ($16). I asked for my burger to be "So rare a good vet could save it." And that's exactly what I got. There was a large toothpick speared through the burger to prevent it from escaping. The flavors and textures were a real treat. Superb! Great meal for $90 including tip. Highly recommended. It seems an ideal place to go with friends and order a variety of dishes to sample and share. We began with their signature Peruvian Ceviche with coconut and kafir lime (the non-spicy version for me - there is also an ají amarillo version you can get with a bit of a kick to it) and the Smoked Mussels Toast. The ceviche was served in a deceivingly small bowl that contained a generous amount of fish and it came with crispy plantain chips. The mussels toast is a dish I NEVER would have ordered myself, but I let my husband pick and it turned out to be my favorite surprise of the meal. Served on crispy toast points with salsa macha aioli and a green pepper adobo that worked beautifully together. I could not rave enough about this dish! (Just try it! You'll thank me!) Our next 2 small plates were the Pulpo a la Gallega and the Lollipop Lamb Chops - both incredible. The octopus had a lovely char, but was very tender. It was served with crispy and slightly spicy papas bravas. The lamb chops were served on a bed of pistachio butter - and yeah, it was AS amazing as it sounds. My only complaint is I wanted about 6 more lamb chops...I kid, I kid. But seriously, we will probably order 2 plates of these next time. Deliciously tender and again, had a lovely chargrilled taste to it. At this point, we were too full for any more savory small plates, but, there was just enough room for dessert! We tried the Guava Sorbet, topped with a rum and cream cheese fondant icing and pomegranate seeds. This was light, refreshing, surprising, and I would 100% recommend it to cap off a good meal if you want something a little sweet that isn't too heavy. We also ordered the Mini Churros, which were a little more indulgent, filled with a light custard cream, topped with a sweet and salty plantain and graham cracker crumble, and served with a dark bittersweet chocolate sauce and a tart passion fruit sauce. I don't typically love sauce with my churros, but both of these were so good we practically drank them like shots! For our first experience at Pulpo, it was fantastic! Looking forward to a return visit to try even more of their dishes and cocktails.
