This is a local family business, and the McFarland boys (John, Zach, Drew and Scott) replaced our ENTIRE system from the air handler and condenser to the electrical and refrigerant ducting. They were warm, genial, well mannered, and efficient.... but most importantly, extremely competent. They were also the only contractor I've ever had that didn't leave some amount of trash behind whether it be sections of electrical wires, hosing, or plastic wraps. It's as if they've never been here. Amazing. We chose them despite gotten a slightly lower quote from another installer who came highly recommended by our neighbor because McFarland Heating was willing to work with us on an very niche system replacement (my partner was particular about what he wants), while that didn't end up working out, the time we spent with them problem solving gave us a ton of confidence that they are dedicated to their work and we can trust them to do the job well. We are a household of engineers, and as far as we can tell, everything is installed to (or above) spec. I highly recommend McFarland Heating without reservation!

They will extort you, send you an estimate for one amount but then find…read moreother issues while installing the over priced part you agreed to, because you were left for a week without heat (after having already been out to inspect the heater once before) and the cost will double. My mother-in-law called them because her heater was making a loud noise. They came and shut off her heat and told her they'd be back in 2 days. Then at that time she got a text message telling her to shut something off, or push a button. She did and then they were under staffed and couldn't come out. After 6 days of my 80 year old mother-in-law living in a house without heat (her house was sub 50 degrees) they sent her an invoice for $360 because she apparently needed a pump and they said her heater would not turn back on without it (even though it worked prior to them turning it off). She was freezing so she just said as long as it was today. They were at her house within an hour (ironic since they were SOOO busy the first 6 days...). Then, the estimate DOUBLED while the tech was at her house as he said he found a gas leak (the house did begin to smell like gas AFTER the first tech turned off the heat). (I should say the 2nd tech was EXTREMELY understanding and helpful. He also confirmed that the gas leak was NOT reported by the 1st tech and the 1st tech was a new guy.) My mother-in-law agreed to it but called us. While we were on the phone with her the tech said that to fix all the problems he found this time (again someone had already been out there to inspect before) it would be $1500!!!!!!!!!!!! My mother-in-law started crying because she couldn't afford it but she couldn't handle being cold any longer. I called the company, the receptionist told me she wasn't able to make any decisions and would have her manager call me back. Then my husband went to talk to the technician at my MIL's house and he told us that she was delayed due to their high volume of customer's with larger (dollar amount) problems. I called the company back and asked to speak to the owner/manager. The receptionist denied my request and told me she never told me she wasn't authorized and that they have all their calls recorded. She told me they had record of calling my MIL every day to schedule the service but we have phone logs showing my MIL called them every day. She told me we were going to sign a waiver to release them from liability of the gas leak. When I said we wouldn't sign it, so she said she was pulling the techs from the job and hung up on me. When I called back, she again told me they were leaving the job (my husband who was with the technicians confirmed that they had tried to recall the techs from the job and my son had been recording EVERYTHING from their interactions with the techs) and refused to get me in touch with the manager or owner. I said I have read numerous reviews who said the owner was a man of integrity and I had seen negative reviews retracted after speaking with him. She again told me she was pulling the techs and tried to hang up on me. I told her I didn't want that and maybe if I could speak to someone who was authorized to discuss these matters with me (and not lie to me about what was or was not said on recorded phone calls as I am 100% SURE they will justify MY side of the story and not hers) maybe we would sign it but not without discussing these very unethical practices with someone who did have authority, and the person who would actually be impacted by our response to this distress (not someone being a complete brat and who didn't comprehend the severity of the situation). I was put on hold for about 15 minutes but then told she would call me back. I haven't heard anything from the company since. I believe this occurred intentionally to extort my mother-in-law. I also think the initial tech was responsible for the gas leak (whether intentionally or accidentally I can't say). Because they were not clear about what was needed, and they kept delaying her, she didn't have time to get a 2nd opinion or compare prices. We will be taking this up with the BBB (https://www.bbb.org/file-a-complaint) and the Attorney General as the Department of Justice has a form specifically for Elder Abuse and Elder Financial Exploitation Statutes (https://www.justice.gov/elderjustice/prosecutors/statutes). This is completely immoral, unethical and NOT an action of integrity. I will also be getting someone out to my MIL's to take a look at the gas leak and give us their opinion on how the gas leak came to be.

Companies with less of a service ethic wouldn't have taken the time to have a product manager call me back to discuss the problem before insisting on scheduling a service call, but Matthew at Fischer called me back and addressed my concerns!! I had the pleasure of working with Seth, Mike and Jeremy to get a 3 zone Mitubishi minisplit…read moreinstalled in an apartment downtown. Out of the 3 bids that I received: - One company refused to install a 3 zone due to the complexity of the job. - Another quoted me double what Fischer did for a 3 zone, and recommended that I install a two zone instead, greatly reducing the work needing to be done. - Seth was able to design a good solution and give me a fair price. My install required cutting through a significant amount of drywall, which is something generally not handled by HVAC installers. I was worried about the question of how much it would cost to repair the damage. The drywallers I reached out to would only give me quotes after the work was finished. Seth once again beat expectations by reaching out to Fischer Restoration and managed to get me a quote in advance of the HVAC install being done. Finally it came to the install. Cutting sheetrock (especially ceilings) is messy business, but Fischer Restoration sealed everything off and left the place spotless when they were finally finished. Jeremy and Mike installed the Mitsubishi minisplit over the course of 4 days. Just like the drywallers, Jeremy and Mike left the place spotless at the end of each day. Naturally we ran into a few issues once the walls were cut open, but both were quick to solve problems and suggest alternate solutions. It was clear that these two take great pride in their work. I'm incredibly happy with the entire experience with dealing with Fischer, and I'd insist that you get them your business!

I wanted to get another quote and ended up going with Airloop as they said their quote fee would come out of the cost of repairs, unlike the other company I used before. When Jairo and team came in, they showed me that the induction motor was working fine and it was actually another part (motherboard) that had to be replaced. Gave me a much more reasonable quote for replacement, even telling me that they'll check for me whether the furnace is under warranty and the reduced price if it was still available. Great service, communication, everything. 5/5! Will definitely call again.

Last summer (2024), my general contractor hired After Hours (Brandon) to install a brand new heating system. My house had suffered a fire and the old system was being replaced. The new system included a furnace, heat pump, and all new duct work. They were also hired to install fans for the two bathrooms and for the kitchen vent. They did a poor job. It does not appear that they are aware of, or read up on, the municipal code prior to starting the project. There were code violations and poor workmanship: 1) Installed R4 flex ducting instead of R8. R8 is code. The code inspector noted this. 2) Adjoined two sections of flex duct with metal. Inspector called it out that flex duct should not be spliced. After Hours fixed this. 3) Did not insulate the heat register boots underneath the house. Instead, they only ran the ductwork up to the connection of the boot. They abandoned the job before this was found by the inspector. 4) Some of the duct runs were on the ground in the crawl space. 5) Did not level the heat pump and did not secure the heat pump pad to the ground. Inspector called it out that it needs to be secured. After Hours was already off the job and did not fix this. To their credit, they did move the location of the heat pump and related connections to a different location upon request. 6) Gave me a dented heat pump which they would not exchange. 7) The roof boot that they installed for the kitchen vent leaked rain. They did come out and tarp it the night that I informed them of it. We've had other companies come out to fix these mistakes. Other than this, I have a working heating system, bathroom fans, and kitchen vent.

Moved into a new house recently during the summer and finally decided it was time to install AC.
