A very good hole in the wall spot for dumplings. They prefer if you pay in cash at this location, so it is good to have that ready. There is a decent amount of parking in the plaza. All of the seating is indoors and it's fairly small inside. There are pictures of the dishes on the walls which makes it easier to order and also makes you want to try everything. The quality of the food is very good and the prices are decent. The dumplings have a really good filling to skin ratio and everything was cooked very well. You can see part way into the kitchen and the dumplings are being made fresh all day. They also sell the dumplings frozen if you want to take them home and cook them at a later time. We've ordered food from here a few times and have enjoyed all of the dishes, though some more than others: - The dumplings (including soup dumplings) are good, skin has great texture. - Lamb skewers are good, though wish they gave more - Noodle with bean paste is good, but nothing special - Beef noodle soup, noodles are a good texture but again nothing special. Maybe I'm not that into beef noodle soup. I find it comparable to Ox9 downtown (which I also don't get the hype) - If you like spice, ask their chili!! It is so good. We only got it recently and I'm sad I missed out on it all the other times They sell frozen dumplings that you can buy to steam at home. I haven't tried them yet but I want to soon!! A small little quite place. Located in a small strip mall. The staff was very friendly and you can watch them through the glass make the noodles which I thought was pretty cool. We had chow mein, potstickers, beef, and broccoli and a few other dishes. We enjoyed our meal and will return. What a pleasant surprise to find this great Chinese spot in my neighborhood! Can't believe I've never tried it. Most Chinese restaurants in the peninsula are heavily Cantonese-influenced, but this one is not, which is a nice change of pace. Highlight is definitely the dumplings, you can watch the aunties portioning out dough and making them by hand behind the glass in the kitchen. The dumplings are flavorful, and the homemade skins are perfectly thick and chewy. Thank goodness they sell the dumplings frozen so you can keep them on hand to eat anytime! Sesame pancake with beef is a must try as well - perfectly crispy pancakes. Sleeper hit - dry fried green beans. This is a Chinese menu staple, but they really do it well here. Beans are actually blistered, it's not too salty, and it comes with strips of fried tofu as well. The only critique I had is the "bean curd stick" or fu zhu salad lacked a little flavor to me, but it was still tasty! They are reasonably priced, too, for San Mateo. They've got quite a selection of dumplings! They package the dumplings in a cute to-go container. I ordered the Pork and Shrimp Chive Dumplings, Pork Potstickers, Hot and Sour Soup and Crispy Chicken Wings to start - haha, I'm feasting! The dumplings are super fresh. Potstickers are good. I did not like the soup or chicken wings. The soup was very oily and the wings were not crispy they were drenched in a sweet sauce, I was looking forward to crispy. They're nice quality wings but advertised as crispy and they were not. Also ordered as a side the Sesame Pancake with marinated beef and green onions, it was delicious and generously portioned, soft, sweet and savory. I really liked it and you're given 4 pieces in your order, very filling. The entrees Broccoli Chicken, Shrimp Stir Fry and Shrimp Fried Rice all were good. The rich brown garlic sauce in the Broccoli Chicken is really good. The shrimp entrees are made with medium sized shrimps, not large, just heads up. I noticed shrimps are being downsized in all different restaurants. Size and portion of shrimp entrees are getting smaller. The stir fry and fried rice are good, I can't brag on them but just good. Hands down one of the best places to get frozen dumplings. Haven't been here since before the pandemic, felt good to be back. The wontons are sooo amazing full of flavor. The soup dumplings are to die for. Each frozen back comes in 20 pieces and priced around 10.50 to $12. Walked out with 6 bags of goodies for around $73. Cash only.....cash only!!! A steal! Services was amazing. Was helped out right away. This place stays busy. The ambiance has a classic Asian cafe feel to it. I recommend everyone to stop by to get dumplings. Although we were the only customers in the restaurant, it took a bit before our order was taken and quite a long time to get our food. The entire staff had just sat down for their lunch and we had to wait for them to finish eating before the "kitchen reopened"? ! Combination fried rice, sesame beef pancake plus pork and shrimp dumplings, were just basic. Suggestion : repair the machine that makes a loud sound, as if a clothes dryer tumbling a load of sneakers or operate it after closing. Such a small little shop placed in an area I usually would drive past without a second glance, I'm very thankful my uncle brought me and my sister to this gem spot for dinner! We ordered just about everything 1/3 of the menu, and my favorite of all our dishes was the hot and sour soup! Perfectly cut veggies, broth was just sour and hot enough, but of course I added more. Second place would have to be the cold cut cucumbers in a garlicky sauce - sooo good and extremely crunchy! It's addictive. You cannot go wrong with any of their dishes, I'm so serious, every dish that came out was so delicious! The restaurant itself is pretty decent sized but not large enough for huge parties. This is my favorite place in the peninsula for beef pancake! The pancake is flaky and hot while the beef is nice and tender. They also have onion pancakes that are really good. The dumplings are also delicious and rivals bigger name places like Yuanbao Jiaozi. They also sell frozen packs that you can make at home! The restaurant atmosphere is what I would describe as a mom and pop Chinese restaurant. The semi-sticky floors and old decor are a testament to good food.
