The only good from this experience was the beer. The worst was the service of the two women servicing the bar, one of which was more worse than the other. With only three parties at the bar, both of them preferred to hand out with friends at one end of the bar and be almost oblivious to the other customers. After one handed me a menu, she disappeared or paid no attention for over 10 minutes so I had to order what I wanted to eat from the other. Both were zombies, totally oblivious to my needs, never checked up on me until I pretty much complete my meal. Then it took almost 10 minutes to finally get my check. Lastly the burger bun tasted like it came right out of the fridge, cold and untoasted. Will never go back and will tell others to avoid the place completely. read more

I have eaten here a few times and the food is consistently good - but not great. It's good if you have picky eaters or allergies. We came here for lunch during my bachelorette party and the service was really bad. It was to the point where we had to get up and ask for things and check the bar for our drinks. I've been debating whether or not to write this review but it would seem unfair to people looking for restaurants in the area to not hear about my experience. My mom and I went for lunch with my son on a Friday around Christmas. It wasn't as busy as I expected luckily and we were seated pretty quickly despite not having reservations. Our waitress took our order, and that was it. We never saw her again after that. She never came to check in on us to see how everything was or to see if we needed refills on our drinks or anything. I wanted to place an order for something to go but I never had the opportunity to do so. We sat and waited for so long for our check that my mom finally asked another waitress for it, but then I had to go up to the bar to pay it. The entire time we sat waiting for our check nobody even noticed that we were packing up our stuff to leave. I had an appointment that I was almost late to because of the poor service. The food is delicious, and that is one of the things I can say has never changed about Wunderbar. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. Will I go back? Perhaps. read more

To be honest, I was here once and the pasta was ok. With a conscience I can't really give all 5 stars. Came back a second time got the Wunderbar schnitzel and I was not disappointed. The crispy exterior really put it over the top. The salt level was perfect . I would also highly recommend getting the empress valley. I'm a lover of gin and this drink was everything. read more

Had a delicious lunch today at Wunderbar. It has an upscale bar atmosphere. Wait staff were friendly and attentive despite the busy lunch crowd. We tried the Wunderbar schnitzel, Munich schnitzel, Boom Boom shrimp, and Buffalo chicken Egg rolls. Everything was very good and I would go back there anytime. Cranberry margarita and Old Fashioned were strong and well made. Highly recommend for casual dining. I just read that it is also dog friendly. When I was there I saw a dog and thought it was a service dog... I LOVE dog friendly places and can't wait to come back with my pup! read more

We got take out from here for dinner and lunch on subsequent days. Dinner was schnitzel, salmon, and mac and cheese. The schnitzel was too die for. Crispy and thin and juicy and tender all at once. Gravy is on the side and technically extra, but don't forget it! It's delicious, like "put it on a shoe and eat it" delicious. Salmon was good - but we needed something on the plainer end of the spectrum and the rice it came with was surprisingly heavily spiced (the menu just says "yellow jasmine rice" - it tasted like a heavy application of curry powder or garam masala). Mac and cheese didn't travel well and we couldn't mix it up very well in it's container. Tasty, but not the best we've had. Burgers and fries the next day were top notch. When it's nice out, walk to the park/square just down the street and enjoy. The whole take out process is streamlined and basically zero-contact. They also have drinks for take out and I definitely recommend the Nine Pin Cider four pack. read more

Place is cool and has a nice comfortable vibe. We went on Sunday the evening before Columbus day. Place was not that busy. Then it filled up. They had Live music with a really good blues band. Young guys. The food unfortunately was not that good. Maybe an off night. We had the miso soba salad. Sounded really good and looked good on the internet menu, but the execution was not that good, barely any noodles buried in the bottom. The vegetables tasted old and like they were from those grocery store bags. The chicken add was pretty tasteless. Sauce just meh and not enough of it. Then there were these thin clear looking glass noodles on top, I have had before, they typically are a nice texture and delicately break in your mouth. These were soo rock hard, we couldn't eat and had to pull them all out. I thought maybe it was just me and my partner, but the table next to us also did the same and pulled them all off. Rangoons i love, but these seemed a little over cooked and like the grease needed a change. But they were ok. Cheese inside delish. Then they put a bottle of sauce on the tray? How about a nice little dish of sauce to dip them in? Dont write a lot of reviews, but feel for the prices they were charging, It better be excellent food. First of all the place is very inviting service is great and for your drinking people a nice bar. But we need to talk about the food. It reminds me of Las Vegas. The food like Vegas looks good but there is no real substance behind the surface. Fish and chips, it looks yummy but the Pacific caught cod has itself no flavor. Maybe the fish is old but it had no flavor and the batter could be more flavorful. The vege burger had no taste as in none. The French onion soup was ok but the soup was weak not a hearty onion base. The cheese seemed greasy. The mashed potatoes were home made and they were adequate. Over all the place is inviting and to hang out to drink it is great spot. Overall okay dining experience at Wunderbar, like most of the restaurants in Hudson it was on the more crowded side (all of the buildings are very old) so there's not a lot of space in between patrons. It was bustling on a Saturday night for dinner and there's a nice mix of locals, visitors, couples, families and older patrons. The food came out fast and our waitress was lovely. The vibe is great. The cauliflower wings were ok but I've had better, it was very heavy on the breading. Overall I felt the experience was a bit lackluster, my husband ordered salmon that was pretty undercooked (I know salmon can be slightly under but it was more than slight), my fork was very dirty and the table was quite sticky. Also would've appreciated more seasoning on the salmon as well as the shrimp that came with my salad, while it was yummy some salt and pepper would've been nice. The salmon had a Thai chili sauce on top but that was the only flavoring to the fish. The hostess and all the staff were very friendly and I would dine here again if I was in a pinch. read more

When we walked in Saturday night, we were promptly taken to a room in the back of the restaurant by a skinny young girl, who lead us to a high top table with really tall chairs. We had an 80 year old female with us, and proceeded to tell the girl that this location wasn't going to work for us. The girl snatched the menus up in a silent rage and pushed her way past the 4 of us, without saying a word. My daughter stepped aside to let her storm past us, and was rewarded with a kitchen staff member slamming the kitchen door into her back as he kicked it open to enter the dining area. The peeved hostess went to a booth for four that we had previously passed, and slammed the drink menu down and then our menus, and scurried off without another word. You could tell she was seething with anger.. Service was okay. The four of us all ordered something different (I ordered the Fish & Chips). My fish was cold and seemed under cooked, french fries were hand cut, but cooked in oil that hadn't been changed in a while. The three other meals were also sub-par according to each one in my party. Although it was my first time there, the other three in our party had previously eaten there twice, and said their meals were good on those occasions. To top the experience off, just before we left, a young couple brought two pit bulls on leashes (NOT service dogs) into the restaurant, and marched right through the restaurant and into the back dining area. When questioned about allowing non service dogs into the eatery, our waitress squeamishly replied "Well......it's kind of a touchy situation"...... Whatever that means. Not sure what was going on, but definitely won't be going there again any time soon. read more

Ok, we were absolutely delighted to find a table at a restaurant on New Year's Day, without reservations..... that being said, it was "meh". It seems to be a bit of a "townie" place. The cauliflower was definitely frozen... the salad was ok, salmon overcooked. My husbands schnitzel looked like a science experiment (although he admitted it wasn't terrible!!) all and all, Hudson is known for cute restaurants and cute shops. How difficult is it to serve a decent French Fry? I mean, really??? The fish batter was soggy as well, so I peeled it off and ate the tasteless, chewy barely cooked barely warm cod. Dipping it in the decent tartar sauce was the only saving grace of this meal. Just bad bad food. I took a bite of my friend's green beans to try them and took the thing out of my mouth. Just bad. This place is amazing. Yeah it's a bar but I'd put it against any other "fine" restaurant in Hudson or for that matter my own neighborhood it downtown Brooklyn. The pork schnitzel is the bomb and there are three versions. The specials are amazing the last time I went there they had an "Angry lobster angel hair pasta with a fresh habanero spicy sauce that was amazing for $32. A solid staple for the locals, with a decent menu and a good selection of food and drink specials. I do have to mention, though, that my last visit was ridiculous. We were completely ignored by the server/bartender (we were sitting at the bar), even after asking to be waited on, kindly, twice! After sitting, untended, for a half hour, we were served one drink and ended up walking out an hour and a half later...when the server/bartender waited on the people NEXT TO US who had only sat for five minutes of wait. It was a rainy quiet day in Hudson at 3pm and was getting hungry with my gf Susan. We had eaten at a restaurant a few months back named Wunderbar Bistro. What a great experience! So, we drove out of the way from Reincliff and returned for a second time. As in the first time, everything was phenomenal! From the moment we walked in until the time we left, it was an amazing experience! and a special shout to our server Kirsten. Came here on the way back from the Catskills. Was pretty excited based on the 4 star reviews and the photos looked good. Unfortunately didn't have a great experience. I hate being negative but have to be honest. We started off getting a wine glass that was dirty/stained with something red around the rim. Ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp. Bacon was raw in middle and shrimp was over cooked sadly. Then got the burger, asked for medium, I love pink on my steaks and burgers but the middle was still a meat paste and not warm. Vegetarian options here are limited, but all pretty good. The black bean burger ($10) is flavorful and hearty. It's extra-good with sweet potato fries subbed for the regular fries that normally come with it. I also love the Wunderbar salad. The balsamic dressing is delicious, and the sunflower seeds and chopped apples are delightfully crunchy. It's nice as a light meal, but better suited to order as a shared dish; one large salad ($12) is perfect for 4 people to split. The fried green tomato caprese doesn't have much tomato in it but is otherwise absolutely delicious. The mozzarella is super fresh, the cornmeal gives the fried green tomatoes a satisfying crispness, and the basil and light dressing and grated cheese on top are just right. I recently tried the zoodle bowl, and was impressed by how strong the broth flavors were. It's heavy on the sesame and has a bit of a kick. The doodles are a healthy but still filling veggie option. I'm always full by the time I finish my entree, but a bowl of their homemade ice cream ($3) sounds like a great way to end a summer dinner! read more

Met a long time friend here while in town. We were seated in the back room which was quieter. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating.
