I was a little skeptical about checking out this 3.5 star Chinese restaurant but I decided to give it ago anyway. When I first walk into a Chinese restaurant, the first thing that usually stands out is this nasty smell that makes me want to turn and run for the door but to my surprise the odor I equate with Chinese restaurants was not there. Everything looked nice and clean from what I could see. So, I decided to order. I ordered the chicken and cashew with steamed rice. I also tried the fried dumplings and an egg roll. The entree itself was neither amazing nor disgusting. It was edible, it was good but not the best I've ever had. The egg rolls were the same way but my fried dumplings were WAY over cooked. The pictures I've attached weren't the darkest hardest ones but I think you can see how they are still over cooked :( I was really looking forward to this part of my dish. I was looking for another restaurant to try and thankfully stumbled upon this place while driving back from an errand. And, the previous reviews helped with the decision. First, the menu has the standard offerings, but I decided to order one of the specials that was advertised which was the Kung pao special. I asked what its comprised of and they said it came with Chicken shrimp and beef. Within five minutes, I was on my way with my order. When I got home it opened up my water, I was surprised by the portion size and the quality of food. It wasn't your typical Kung Pao dish, it had additional vegetables, the brown sauce was slightly different also which made it very pleasant to eat. I enjoy "mom and Pop "restaurants that have a different spin on a standard dish. Finally, The reviews were quite accurate. This restaurant serves really good food And I'm looking forward to try other offerings. If you're in Converse, you must give this place a try. read more

I had high hope's for this place being that google reviews had 4.5 stars. Atmosphere was cozy and simple, pictures on their menu board appeared to be stock images. I ordered the lemon chicken dinner special to go. The price was fair about 9$. I arrived home and noticed there wasn't any silverware with my order (no big deal). The to-go box was different compared to other food places. The food however was sub par. The breading on the chicken was hard to where the fork couldn't go through. Chicken was pretty dry and needed to be soaked in the lemon sauce provided. The rice was ok for the most part, not your typical fried rice. I chose this place due to it's close proximity to my house. I think next time I'll make the further drive to another Chinese food place. read more

Wu's Chinese Restaurant Converse 3/5. Open since Dec, you order at the counter and your order is brought to you. On Judson, Wu himself Cooks, and not here as I can tell. On Judson, your dishes come out on China and are separated. Here they put everything together like a bowl with meat on top of rice and put it in a plastic container even for dine in. I got the spicy Mala beef, also known as Szechuan beef. The beef was chewy spongy and gristly. It was not very spicy with two opThai peppers in it but it had a good flavor. I wanted to try something different instead of the standard Fried Chicken like orange or general tso's. It's hard to get tender beef at a Chinese restaurant anymore. The rice was very good and fragrant but was drowned in the sauce from the dish that's why I like it separated. I will not be getting beef here again, and I will probably be going to Judson since I appreciate the China plates for the same $6.50. I do not know if they deliver but that will be a plus for Converse n even Schertz and Universal City. I will come back one more time to try the orange chicken just to see if it measures up to the Judson location. read more

I've gone to this place a few times, and its okay... although the food does seem to be inconsistent. Its really a hit or miss. I would also recommend checking your bags before leaving... there has been 2 seperate occassions where food was missing, and 1 time i was given someone elses order completely... even though they did call to tell me they messed up they insisted on me driving all the way back to get to food i originally ordered... there was no sorry for the inconvience of making 2 trips to get my food, or the option to just have it refunded. read more

Unfortunately the customer service was quite rude. Noticed a special when I walked in and asked if I could change. Quick to cut me off, say no and I was willing to wait and even pay extra. But quick to move along and not care about the customer service aspect. Although food is good, really sucks the customer service was awful. Rude and wish they would find someone who is more customer friendly and not someone who only cares about moving you along. read more

Pretty good Chinese food. It's hard to find great Chinese food but this place will do just fine. It's also less than 10 minutes from my house, saving me a further drive so I'm content with stopping here when the craving hits. This Wu's is closer to our house than the other one but we'll be driving the extra distance to go to the other location. We've been here 3x now and they haven't gotten the order right once. It's such a pain in the a$$ to get all the way home and not have the right food. And they never do anything to correct it. Also last time we went i had them read the order back to me twice and then said we couldn't have our drinks because we didn't pay for them even though twice they included the drinks when reading the order. It's 9:20 pm. I live 3 minutes away. The menu says they close at 10:30 pm today. They told me they stop taking phone orders at 9:15 (literally 5 minutes ago) and we have to GO IN to order (during a pandemic). The lady behind the counter yelled at my austic son when he ordered a meal to go and said he doesn't understand. I wanted to tell her he knows what he wants. I just remembered that I am Christian and calmly explained that he wants a DOUBLE entree of orange chicken. (He didn't want two different entrees for his plate. ) She did the same thing to me. Then she walked away saying something in her language. My son wanted to leave. We waited by the register to see how she prepared our food. We left after getting it. My son tells me in the car that she "black people are ignorant and she hates them. " I asked my son how does he know that. He explains that his friends taught him the language and they would jokingly say that to him. I explained to him that no one should that to anyone, jokingly or not. We will not come here! And she should correct her attitude. This business is in the HEART of the black community. Does she realize that? We're nothing what she said we are. Awful owner is an arrogant jerk. Sauce tasted like vinegar, refused to credit me, chicken dry and obviously old. Had to drive down there he refused to taste his own sauce he gave me and insisted I have a different pallet. Eaten here for years and my whole family will never dine there again we are eating at lai sinh feom now on....do yourself a favor the food is overpriced mall food. The guy had the nerve to lecture me about his side of it and business, I have a business degree and run my own business, if I ran it like him I wouldn't have a business.
