It was tasty, not over-salty, and quite tender. The dirty rice was good but not great. The food at Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen was good but not memorable. I was not sorry we tried them but also don't feel drawn to return. The decor and setup of the restaurant felt like a temporary pop up with no individuality as to who they are. What I did not know was that it is actually a cook your own food restaurant. That was a surprise. We were told the wait would be about 20 to 30 minutes, so we headed to the bar. It was a packed Friday night, and there was one bartender working completely solo. She greeted us and gave us menus, but almost ten minutes passed before we could even order. Again, not her fault. She was overwhelmed. Another ten minutes go by, and she comes back to ask what we ordered because she had forgotten and never put the ticket in. I genuinely felt bad for her. No one should be working a bar alone on a Friday night. I ordered the peachy white sangria. It was so sugary it was hard to drink, and it did not taste like it had any alcohol in it. We finally got the text to head to the front to be seated. That took longer than expected too. Definitely a mix up, but eventually they figured it out. Walking through the dining area is when it really hit me. You cook everything yourself. Not the end of the world, except the person I was with does not cook at all. So I ended up cooking the entire meal. I was literally sweating over the grill, dabbing my forehead like I was on Food Network cooking competition show. The sides and meat were okay, but overall it just was not my thing. I left smelling like food from head to toe. My hair, my clothes, my purse. Everything! On top of that, the people around us who did not know how to cook were burning their food, so we had to smell that too.
