    House Lo Mein (extra spicy)
    Shawntia S.

This place reminds me of food back east! Never disappoints (except the egg foo young... eeeyuck) and we try different things just to see and repeat things to see if it hit or miss. The lo mein can't be beat and stays consistent. I get the house lo mein extra spicy. Quick in and out place, no dine in. Only negative is the girl that takes the orders over the phone. She's dismissive and unorganized in her order taking. She should ask for names instead having to repeat your order when you pick up.

I wish I liked this place more than I did. It was good but not my favorite place. They did give huge potions for a good price which is why I wish I loved it more.

    Sesame chicken

Cute little spot. Service was good. Food was hot and fresh. Rangoon was great! Crispy and full of filling. The General Tsos was good and the plain fried rice with it was good. Sesame chicken was good as well. The egg foo young needed flavor. The gravy was alright but lacking some flavor. Almost tasted watery. The wing were crispy and the fries were great.

I've searched all over San Antonio for the perfect red boneless spare ribs, and I finally found them here! If you're craving amazing red boneless spare ribs, this is the place to go!

The food was good! The service was EXCELLENT! The only thing that was irritating me was how hot it is inside. Easy solution, take out.

This visit to Sea Island Shrimp House exceeded even our already high expectations. Megan was, without question, one of the most pleasant and professional servers we've had in a long time. She struck that perfect balance of attentiveness and authenticity, going out of her way to ensure our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. A small moment that really stood out--when I asked about the lemon pepper seasoning available to customers, she took the extra step to explain that it wasn't the same as what they use in the kitchen. Instead of leaving it there, she proactively checked with the manager to see if we could purchase the actual seasoning to take home. That level of initiative is rare and appreciated. Equally impressive was Megan's humility--she was quick to credit their new chef, Anthony, for the quality of the meal. And she was right to do so. Anthony may be new, but the execution was exceptional. This was, without exaggeration, the best fish we've had at this location--perfectly seasoned, fresh, and cooked with precision. Kudos to the entire team at Sea Island on Forum I-35. Experiences like this are what turn a reliable stop into a standout destination. We'll definitely be back--more than once--before heading home.

He was attentive but very minimal. I got the oysters david for my appetizer, which was very mid. Basically, oysters and cheese baked with no extra flavor. For entree, I ordered the surf and turf because I needed some red meat. Meat came out very rare when I asked for medium rare. The tart lemon wine cream sauce was okay, but not the best. The mashed potatoes, however, was the best out of the meal. Warning about this restaurant: they charge you an additional 8% food tax on top of regular taxes. This is a huge red flag!

It reminded me of a previous space that now houses a restaurant. It was fairly busy on a Thursday night, reservations were suggested. Our service started with the grilled oysters, spinach, bacon, cheese and seasoning. They were good but not great. The blackened grilled trout with dirty rice was one of the entrees. It was flavorful and a very good dish. The grilled red fish with crab meat, grilled shrimp, tomato, garlic, serrano peppers, and creamy buttery sauce over dirty rice was our other entree. It was tasty, not over-salty, and quite tender. The dirty rice was good but not great. The food at Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen was good but not memorable. I was not sorry we tried them but also don't feel drawn to return. The decor and setup of the restaurant felt like a temporary pop up with no individuality as to who they are. There was nothing unique about the entire evening. I would hope you would give Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen and chance and make up your own mind.

We ordered a chorizo and egg burrito, an asada taco with egg, a chorizo taco with egg, and a chorizo plate. The main reason for the lower rating was the chorizo. It had a very unusual texture and flavor--almost more like ground chicken. It wasn't bad, just very different from any chorizo I've had before, so it wasn't quite what I expected. My husband said the burrito tasted good but had a bit too many beans. My son's chorizo plate was plentiful and he said it was good. The salsas were also really good with no complaints there, and the customer service at the drive-thru was friendly. Overall, it was a decent experience. When I rate places, I usually compare them to the best and worst I've had in that type of food. This spot definitely isn't the worst, but it didn't quite beat my favorites either. I went back and forth between giving it a 3 or a 4, but it's still worth trying, and I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again if I needed a quick bite.

The décor is modern, the lighting is nice, and the food photos on the windows make everything look delicious. I walked in thinking it was a buffet style setup because that is how it had always been described to me. I am not a buffet person, but I was willing to try it. What I did not know was that it is actually a cook your own food restaurant. That was a surprise. We were told the wait would be about 20 to 30 minutes, so we headed to the bar. It was a packed Friday night, and there was one bartender working completely solo. She greeted us and gave us menus, but almost ten minutes passed before we could even order. Again, not her fault. She was overwhelmed. Another ten minutes go by, and she comes back to ask what we ordered because she had forgotten and never put the ticket in. I genuinely felt bad for her. No one should be working a bar alone on a Friday night. I ordered the peachy white sangria. It was so sugary it was hard to drink, and it did not taste like it had any alcohol in it. We finally got the text to head to the front to be seated. That took longer than expected too. Definitely a mix up, but eventually they figured it out. Walking through the dining area is when it really hit me. You cook everything yourself. Not the end of the world, except the person I was with does not cook at all. So I ended up cooking the entire meal. I was literally sweating over the grill, dabbing my forehead like I was on Food Network cooking competition show. The sides and meat were okay, but overall it just was not my thing. I left smelling like food from head to toe. My hair, my clothes, my purse. Everything! On top of that, the people around us who did not know how to cook were burning their food, so we had to smell that too. The group next to us was loud, chaotic, and kept burning things, and it was a lot. The concept itself is great, but the execution was not ideal for me. I honestly do not know how anyone gets full here. It feels like eating crab. You do all the work, get a tiny bite, and somehow still leave hungry. Overall, it is worth trying once just to see if it fits your style, but it is not something I would personally go back for.
