Went straight from work on a Tuesday for happy hour, and wow--what a find! The happy hour menu is just $5 per item, and we tried the Honey Butter Savory Chicken Wings, cheese fries, and fried chicken sandwich. Everything was freshly made and absolutely delicious--perfect for the taste buds. They have all kinds of selective foods you can order. Make sure you don't miss the honey butter wings--they're a must! I even got a sneak peek at some items not yet on the menu and spotted Chicken Tikka Masala with garlic naan, one of my all time favorites. I asked about it, and the Chef & owners were kind enough to make it for me on the house--even though it wasn't officially available yet. I took it home to go, had it for dinner and let me tell you: No lie, "This is the most authentic Chicken Tikka Masala I've ever had." You must try it once you get the chance to order it. Absolutely perfectly made and delicious with the garlic naan!!!! I'll be ordering it every time I have an Indian cuisine craving. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. I also love the self-pour drink setup--I may have had four glasses of wine, lol! My favorite was the Ricco Mango Moscato--highly recommend. The place itself is clean, relaxing, and has a great vibe. You can even work remotely at the bar or sit wherever you like. You get a card to pour drinks anytime, and it automatically charges your card--super convenient. The owners are welcoming, and the staff, the chef, bartenders, and host are all friendly. Ten out of 10, hands down! Definitely coming back--Especially for that Chicken Tikka Masala. Highly recommend! Thank you for a great experience.

This is a nice spot for happy hour. Prices very reasonable. Very airy location for warmer as well. As a Jersey City resident it was very convenient to take the light rail which stopped right in front of the restaurant. The food was really tasty! I had the loaded fries and fried chicken sandwich. The wine on tap is a cool concept which allowed you to make your own personal flights. I sat at the bar & the bartender was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely go back-I want to check out brunch.

I stopped into this new restaurant to get dinner! When I arrived I parked in the paid lot nearby. I walked into a busy place. I was greeted and sat and served by Anaya and she was awesome! I ordered: Cranberry-Tequila Martini Holiday Flight/Margarita Flight Nashville Hot Wings Cajun Pasta Tapville Signature Burger Cookie shot The drinks and food was really good! All were so flavorful! My favorite being the Cajun Pasta! I had an amazing experience!

We tried the cookie cocktail, an IPA, and Prosecco and the mimosa flight -- every single drink was amazing. The food was on the house on their soft launch event for everyone which was such a pleasant surprise, and the owner personally welcomed everyone, making the whole experience feel warm and genuine. The self-serve alcohol-on-tap concept is super cool and makes the place feel fun and different. Definitely a spot worth checking out!

Came here for food, left with a bestie named Jonathan. Burger cooked to perfection, truffle fries were amazing, dirty soda flights for the kids, beer flights for the adult kids. Amazing!

Came here for brunch and everything was great! We had Wisconsin cheddar curds, beer bartered pickled chips, loaded back tower, garlic parm savory chicken wings, backyard sliders, buffalo chicken dip, Santa Fe egg rolls, and street tacos. Everything was great! I can also say that we sampled many of their flights (pictures below.) Anaya was our server and was so sweet! She was very attentive and loved having our feedback on the food and drinks! We would definitely come back!

I love this place and will travel the 50 minutes to come back on another weekend. Tyler is a great bartender, he gave me and my bestie GREAT vibes and the music here is a perfect mix. Sit at the bar, and he will ask what you wanna listen to. Definitely a social and chill spot but very fun. Both drinks on tap and food are delicious! loved trying new beers i never heard of

Monkey Bar became one of my favorite Midtown restaurants because its modern history ran almost…read moreperfectly alongside my years in New York. I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but a return now would feel like visiting the museum of my past, not reclaiming a life that asked too much, gave too little, and finally lost its hold on me. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a memorable room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. The cocktails were sharp, the service was impeccable, and the dining room carried that glamorous old New York energy without feeling trapped by it. I remain deeply fond of the place, partly for what it was and partly for what it witnessed. Some restaurants become attached to a chapter of your life, and Monkey Bar holds mine with unusual grace.

It featured a crispy, sugar-glazed exterior and a soft, chewy interior, topped with truffle cheese and served with a truffle butter dip; the pairing was superb, and it tasted great both on its own and with the dip. For the main course, I ordered the miso-glazed black cod. The flavor was flawless, and while the portion was small (which was acceptable), the pool of broth accompanying it was completely unnecessary; it was inedibly salty, so what was the point of serving it? After finishing the fish, I was left with a plate full of broth, rendering the plate unusable. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

Did an earlier dinner on a Saturday with a friend at the bar. We got some similar items, some different. The thing I kept the same was my martinis and all three (sour cream and onion, tomato, and espresso) were just as amazing as ever. Food-wise, I stuck mainly to the classics with one new dish: - Pizza rolls: Very good but 3 pizza rolls for $20 felt small to me. I feel like I remember seeing others served more when I've gone in the past, but not completely sure. They're nostalgic and fun, nothing to die for. - Fries: Great as ever, we opted for just one of the sauces (avocado dill). - French Dip: This used to be cut in 3 pieces and now it's 2. Works well with a duo but I do think it's actually a little smaller now than before when I compare photos. - Samoa sundae: Still amazing, still so so worth. It was fun going with a friend who hadn't been before and seeing the joy upon trying the dish! The fried cream cheese croquettes. The everything bagel croutons! The five cheese pizza rolls -yes! Wagyu French Dip served with au jous - outstanding Lobster & Caviar Roll Sour cream & onion martini Ok: French fries are fine. A little salty. Saoma sundae - lots of coconut Skip: Spinach & Artichoke Dip - meh. Had better at Applebees. The sauce trio for the fries - all were too salty. The service is outstanding. Everything was on point even though we sat at the bar. The attention to detail is great. Our course were staggered and we never felt rushed. It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
