    I love the decor!

On today's episode of Don't Judge A Book by its Cover, we bring you X Sushi! This restaurant sits in a nondescript strip mall next to things like a dance studio, a nail salon, across from the Walgreens in a Publix. We were greeted by a waiter holding the door open for us. When we entered, I was taken aback by the upscale decor. The staff immediately seated us, and Anna came up to bring water and give us recommendations on the menu. Another staff member (I failed to catch his name unfortunately) also gave us great suggestions and information on the restaurant. They were both very knowledgeable of the menu and even where the ingredients were sourced. They were both outstanding. We got the truffle edamame (outstanding), the Mucca di Mare appetizer (unexpectedly perfect, no sauce, wasabi, or ginger needed), the Ceviche roll (so fresh and bright) and the Ultimate Salmon roll (salmon, prosciutto, brie cheese, and more?! Count me in!) The fish was so fresh, it had no fish flavor or scent at all. It was perfect. The rolls were innovative and balanced in flavor. I have no feedback other than these were possibly the best rolls I've had in the Orlando area. We also had the Alaska Cake for dessert. It was very light and refreshing. It wasn't overwhelming or huge. It was the perfect end to a meal. And for my birthday, they even put a candle in it for me! Their birthday surprise was also unexpected and a delight. I can't wait to come back to try more of the menu!

Our favorite place for sushi hands down. The service is top tier, the food is even better, this place never misses! 10 stars.

Wow just wow. What a great dining experience. So this place has been on my list for a while. We ended up there because I got a flat tire on the way home from Strawberry picking. We walked in and the place was intimate and elegant and upscale, and we were definitely underdressed and I underestimated how nice it would be based on its location. Luckily I always keep a spare dress in the trunk a quick change in the bathroom. We walked in without reservations and by the foodie gods were blessed with an opportunity to dine in there that night. There is a sushi bar. There are tables up against the wall and there are some small tables for two. They also have one really large table for eight with a giant Lazy Susan for family style dining. They sat us at the giant table and did not even roll their eyes that we were with two little kids ages five and eight. I ordered enough food to feed an army and everything was delicious. The tuna pizza the ceviche roll the presentation as well as the food were of the highest standards. Even a basic role was executed perfectly no skimping on ingredients. If I had to find one thing that was on the downside was the lychee drink I ordered was a bright red and tasted like a jolly rancher, not lychee, but it was delicious, although probably more sugar than I should have. If you're ever in the area, go try it, but don't be like me and make a reservation

Absolutely delicious sushi and experience! Staff were extremely knowledgeable of all the menu items and helped us pick the most delicious Salmon Crudo! Thick pieces of New Zealand salmon that were cooked to perfection! We also ordered two sushi rolls. One Coconut shrimp roll and another rainbow roll with snow crab! Highly recommend, but don't be shy of the strip mall. You walk in and get transformed into an elegant sushi spot! Check them out!

Wow, what a find!! We went on search of a sushi place on the area different than where we've eaten before because we wanted to try something new. Based on the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. The vibe is so relaxing and calm. The server, Felipe, was so attentive and answered all of our questions. We started with the fried pork dumplings and that set the course of the evening. They were perfectly cooked and the sauce was divine. We ordered the Otsu roll and the Rock and Roll. Each of them were so fresh and tasty. The owners are Brazilian and we are definitely impressed with the quality.

Beautiful restaurant! Make reservations!! Perfect for a party of 2. The service was lovely, they got busy very fast. The food was to die for, the filet mignon bao bun was insane. The matcha tres leches is fantastic!

Dragon fruit mojito - 14 dollars

Wanted to try a newer restaurant for my first 2025 magical dining experience. I made a reservation and came on a Saturday evening. I was immediately greeted by the hostess, who sat me in the requested sushi bar. I was immediately given the magical dining menu, which had the 3 course dinner for 40 dollars. I tried the croc tuna as the appetizer. It had sashimi tuna with a rice cracker crust with eel and bone marrow truffle aioli. I immediately smelled the truffle when it was given. The tuna was fresh and the rice cracker crust was unique. I enjoyed the sauces as the truffle was pretty strong. My dragon fruit mojito came afterwards (14 dollars), which was nicely presented with fresh dragon fruit on top. It was a refreshing drink, but I didn't really taste the sake, nor feel any buzz. It was pretty weak! For the main course, the rainbow roll was colorful with the white fish, salmon, and tuna on top. The filling was avocado, cucumber, and crab. I was very happy to see the used real snow crab instead of the imitation crab that other restaurants use. The snow crab made it much more flavorful. The other fishes were fresh and tender. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was presented oddly in a flat glass. Because of that, it looked more like melted ice cream. But it was still fluffy and chocolaty. It was quite rich though, so I took some of it home. The service was friendly, but felt rushed. I did enjoy that they did call me to confirm my reservation and asked in advance for seating requests. However, I noticed that my sushi came before I could finish the croc tuna, and the chocolate mousse came before I could finish the sushi. While I liked the very quick service, I think that would be better when having a power lunch, than a relaxing dinner. I think I was in and out in less than an hour. The seating area was quite small with just a few tables. There sushi bar was also small, but looked nice. I was surprised I didn't see a bar, so I have no idea how my cocktail was made. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a pre made or canned beverage with the restaurant adding some toppings. The noise level was pretty quiet that I could hear the cool lounge music in the background. I also noticed that the lighting was getting fiddled with as it got a bit darker during the night, but then they brighten it up again before I left. This restaurant is located in a small strip mall at Winter Garden. The restaurant is pretty small, and the strip mall is across the street from a Publix complex. This sushi restaurant tries to be an upscale and intimate dining experience in the Winter Garden area. While the sushi is pretty good, I am still spoiled by Kabooki Sushi, which is still my favorite sushi place. Also, the service was quite rushed and the drink wasn't strong enough for it to be in the A tier. However, it was still enjoyable to recommend and a nice upscale sushi restaurant in Winter Garden. I will visit again and try their other sushi rolls as well. Overall: B+

We visited X Sushi on a Saturday night around 7:15pm. We had made a reservation through yelp, but were told that their Yelp reservations don't work, only open table works, which was a little frustrating. The team there said they could seat us in about 15 minutes, so we went to the back to their waiting area, which has the cutest compliment wall! We were seated about 30 minutes later. Honestly, our service experience made me really sad. All the tables around us were getting significantly faster service. We were seated, then given menus 10 minutes later. About 10 minutes after that, the waiter returned to take our order. I put in a drink (which then didn't come for another hour) and some edamame, and my companion asked what the seasonal fish was. It was another 20 minutes before our waiter returned, so we asked what the seasonal fish was again and he told us. Then we ordered. The edamame came out about 15 minutes from when we ordered it. Then we had 2 carpaccios, which came out in 15 and 20 minutes respectively (not horrible), and our rolls came out in about 30 minutes. We asked for some wasabi for the rolls, which never came. The waiter was so kind and had great energy, and I honestly don't blame him for any of this, but this place was woefully understaffed - one guy for the whole place just isn't a reasonable expectation. Be really did his best, and he even comped us a chocolate mousse because of the wait. Overall, we were seated there for around 2 hours. Now, let's get into the food. I want to start by saying that I don't think that I'm the target audience for this place. Their sushi seemed to have a spin on it that didn't line up with our expectations. The salmon carpaccio and scallop carpaccio were both cut kind of thick for a carpaccio, almost to the point where I'd call them crudos. The salmon was almost marinating in a kind of truffle sauce which, personally, I wasn't a fan of. It almost gave it more of a locks flavor which didn't work for me. The scallop was . . . Just straight up not what was on the menu, which confused me. It wasn't bad, but the flavor profile didn't balance. I found that it was too sweet and the scallop was overpowered. We both got the bluefin tuna roll, and we were surprised that it was 6 pieces instead of 8 as advertised. It was a really good roll, but I felt it needed some wasabi. I also loved the little pipette of soy sauce! It was so cute, but definitely only enough for 2 pieces and not the full set. My roll was also wrapped rather loosely, with the end pieces falling apart. One thing I will say is that all of the fish was amazing quality here, and again it tasted really good. Overall, I'd give this place a 2.5 if I could. I think they could definitely benefit from some more waitstaff. I also acknowledge that I'm kind of a traditionalist when it comes to sushi, so what I didn't love is probably ideal for a lot of other people! Would I go back? Probably not, but people seem to love this place, and I wish them many years of success.

Went to X sushi with my family to celebrate my birthday. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Food, taste, freshness, service exceeded my expectations. Everything looked beautiful and tasted delicious. Sushi was so fresh and clean tasting. Better taste than sushi I've had before and I've eaten sushi many times but apparently not at this quality. If you're a sushi lover you must try his place, really really high quality products. Server was attentive, the place was quiet and bathroom was so cute. We had the salmon car

The food is amazing! My daughter and I shared the spicy edamame, king salmon 3 ways, and Madre de dios. The food is incredible! The king salmon was prepared 3 ways - sashimi, sushi, and tataki served with the 2 year old Japanese soy sauce. This is a MUST try! Our favorite of the 3 salmons was the tataki - the sauce was very flavorful and smoky - we will be getting this again! The Madre de dios was made with yellow tail hamachi on a bed of coconut cream- it was refreshing and tasty! Nice and light compared to the salmon. Will be ordering this again! The service was great! Very attentive. The ambiance could use some work. It's a small place so everything is enhanced when you walk on. The first thing I noticed was the empty, dirty tables that was not cleaned up - even though it looked like the guests have been gone awhile. The music was way too loud and popping on a Sunday evening in a small space. Place looks like it fits no more than 30 people. For this reason, I'm giving it a 4 star.

4.9 stars with 29 reviews as of the writing of this one. WOW! And well deserved. This is literally a hidden gem nestled in a small strip mall in Winter Garden, FL off of SR 50. Hard to believe someone was bold enough to know "if we build it they will come". And they/we have. This charming restaurant boasts sheer ambiance coupled with superb service and quality sushi. Now, there is a premium to pay for it, but it's worth it. Next time you're in the mood for sushi and want to a great dining experience check out X Sushi - you won't be disappointed.

After speaking with the owner, he explained that he didn't want us to feel rushed, so he was able to accommodate us at a later seating that day. I really appreciated that! I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time, though, because there are only eight seats available at the counter. The market itself is in such a cute area and has so much to check out, including teas, popcorn, a brewery, and more. Once we sat down at the sushi counter, the atmosphere almost made you feel like you had been transported to Japan. I ordered the five-piece sashimi, and the fish was incredibly fresh and delicate. Each piece was paired with different sauces and flavors that made every bite unique. It was unlike any sashimi I've had before, and you could really tell how much thought and care went into each piece. Between the atmosphere, the hospitality, and the quality of the fish, this was such a memorable experience. I would absolutely come back--just with a reservation next time!

The host staff spent more time talking about their relationships to each other, than actually engaging or interacting with customers who are waiting for their orders. The estimated pick up time for my order was 7:23 PM. I arrived at 7:20 PM and was told that my order was not ready. At 7:33 my order was still not ready and I requested an update on the status of my order. At about 745 I was actually able to walk out of the location with my order. I understand when the kitchen can get behind, but if you can't keep up with pick up orders, then turn them off and don't give it as an option online. Outside of that, the food was very delicious. I ordered the chicken curry, which is a little spicy, but the flavor was really good with the fried chicken. And because I got the dinner option, it came with a small salad. My husband got the beef fried rice and it was good. We appreciated that they seem to put more meat in their beef fried rice than before. The one thing I will say about this location your portion sizes when you dine in are definitely larger than when you do takeout. We've ordered the same thing both dining in and takeout and have noticed a pretty big difference in the portion size.

The booth we sat in had a beautiful and asymmetrical heavy wooden table top polished to a brilliant shine, and there were a surprising number of diners there at noonish, on a Tuesday... what's that tell you? Now: the food! *First, for the technically challenged, be warned that the menu is available via phone and QR Code. If you want a printed menu, too bad. Otherwise... We began our meal with Agedashi Tofu, which is fried cubes of tofu that have a magnificently thin layer of a crisp skin encasing melted tofu, and there's a perfect sauce to dip them in. I have been thinking about these for an hour now and can't even imagine how they are made. A delicious magic trick! Next, we had an Eel and Shrimp Tempura Roll, a Shrimp Tempura Bento Box, and two Nigiri and Sashimi lunch specials. The Tempura was light and crisp. The bento box included a spring roll, fried rice, and gyoza, all perfectly flavored. The Nigiri and Sashimi fish was served cold and absolutely fresh, and was sliced generously. The Nigiri and Sushi lunches included a California roll, 4 pieces of sushi, and six pieces of sashimi, and really was a lot of excellent food for a bargain $24. I almost forgot that we started, along with the Agedashi Tofu, with a very subtly flavored miso soup with tofu and seaweed. This was also perfection, with just a breath of ginger and perfect salt. I hope I've convinced you fans of Japanese food to try this restaurant. If you're new to Japanese food's many varieties and intricacies, or hesitant to eat raw foods, there are always cooked meat and fish dishes like Tempura or Teriyaki you can order, and then you can explore by tasting the more exotic things your friends and family order. Maybe you'll develop a taste for it! If you already have a taste for Japanese food, don't pass up an opportunity to eat a wonderful meal at Mikado, in MetroWest.

To finish, we ordered the molten lava cake for dessert and it did not disappoint. We cleaned the plate! In terms of pricing, I felt that some of the rolls we ordered (aside from the Honey Salmon) were a bit on the pricier side considering the rice-to-fish ratio. I've had similarly priced sushi at other places with less rice, which better suited my taste. That said, we'd absolutely come back next time we're in Winter Garden.
