Its easy to see why Comcast gets the worst customer service scores of any provider. I have tried for 3 weeks now to UPGRADE my service. I am simply trying to get Starter Doubleplay. The first online try I selected the service, went through the process and waited a week. After contacting Comcast they said the order never went into the system. However, the online ordering does not show the option any more so its obvious that something broke in the ordering process. Second / Third times I tried to contact comcast and get the same price/conditions I ordered online. Both told me two separate stories and different price points and terms. Consistency leaves something to be desired. Nice bait and switch tactic . Fourth time I got someone that kept telling me I was not a customer and they could not help me with new services. I would say this is the most frustrating experience I have had, but unfortunately it is on par with all calls to Comcast. UPDATE (10/30) - Still horrible customer service Despite my resistance to changing anything with comcast my wife asked me to upgrade the service. It took more than a month to get the service switched over to switch over to the Doubleplay service. First the website messed up and did not take the order, but since it was stuck in the system so I was no longer able to order online. I tried both chat service and calling in 4 times over the next month with varying stories and pricing on each call. I refused to give in to the bait and switch tactics of Comcast of raising the price over what the website offered, sometimes up to 20% of the price. Finally I got to someone that was able to give me the same pricing that I originally signed up for online. So I went to the store to pick up the X1 system to replace the antiquated Comcast system I had before. The store experience was very good. They had the information in the system, where able to get the hardware for me. Where very polite. After I got the system home I called to get the new X1 activated. Call 1: Activation (20 min) - Rep did a good job working through the activation process. However ALL stations stated that I needed a subscription to see the channel. We rebooted manually and through signal a couple of times. Call 2: Tier 1 support (40 min) - Rep did a pretty good job. However, I had to complete re-authenticate the information and explain the situation again. Must have rebooted (manually and through signal) just under 10 times. She made one back in change supposedly during this call. Call 3: Tier 2 support (30 min) - Rep was ridiculous inept. Whatever script they where reading from should be completely thrown out. 15 min in I had to ask that they go back through the notes. After they did that I still had to explain multiple times what the issues where. He asked me the same questions over and over again. Of course like all the others we rebooted another 5 times (you seriously need to figure out better ways to troubleshoot). I had to demand a tech be called and the Tier 2 support rep did not seem to want to do it. I guess not having service is acceptable solution. It took me over 5 min to get him to submit the case. And of course another useless troubleshooting script, which of course required.... A REBOOT. The agent after submitting the request for a field tech, tells me the only time they have available is mid day on Saturday (two days away). I explain that is not going to work as I am not in for the next few days personally to let them in and I had all day Friday (the next day) to take off work and wait for them to fix there issue. I had to request for manager escalation Escalation to manager: The Tier 2 agent hesitated and tried to deflect escalating this case to his floor manager for far too long. Once the manager got on I got the same run around. He stated nothing can be done unless it is more than 3 days out. First of all if that is the case a customer should be provided with immediate refund of the days lost. Remember I had working service before I started this process. I informed the manager I was not here to let the tech in for at least the next few days and then some. Therefore my household will be out of service for more than 3 days and that I wanted the tech here the next day (Friday). He said he called dispatch and they denied the request to get me service. The Manager then agreed that they will refuse any service for at least the next 4 days due to Comcast's policies. Now I will need to take off sometime next week and my family will be out of service for at least that long. I want a refund for the time lost and aggravation and want a tech immediately dispatched to fix my service. Once again, HORRIBLE customer service. This should have been an easy connection and service upgrade yet here I am again without service, and unable to get Comcast to work on the issue. read more

I did not see general Comcast customer service on yelp.**** Like many Comcast customers, my relationship with Comcast is a long and tortured one. There are a few things that I believe I would find more pleasurable than speaking with Comcast customer service. These include: battery acid to the face, having a limb cut off with a rusty chainsaw, and poking a hot metal rod into my ear until it hits my brain. Why is the experience so painful and soul crushing you ask? Well, to shed some light on the situation, let's review my latest experience with Comcast. I made some changes to my plan recently, adding some additional channels for a guest that was staying at my place. No biggy, I thought, until I got my bill. It was about a hundred dollars higher than I was expecting. Whatever, I thought, I think they would have some rational explanation for it. However, I wanted to research the matter on my own. I tried to pull up the bill on the website, but was told that I had limited access to my account. I was unsure why I had limited access but found it very annoying that I couldn't access my own bill. So, I called customer service. The girl who answered the phone had an accent, but I understood her for the most part, which is atypical. She greeted me friendly enough. I tried to explain the situation to her. This is where it all quickly went to hell. Every time I began talking, she would interrupt me. Me: "I am trying to access my account..." Customer Service Rep: "William, hey William" Me: "Yes" CSR: "William, so William, ... William you are trying to reset your password." Me: "No, I am trying to access my account and..." CSR: "William, hey William....you are trying to access your account but you have forgotten your password. Is correct that?" Me:"No...No that is not correct. I am trying to access my account but it says I need a security pin which I do not have..." CSR: "So, William...you are trying to..William...Hey William...William...you are trying to access your account but you forgot your password. Is that correct? ME: "No, I am trying to get my bill and it says I have limited access and I need a security pin" CSR: "I'm sorry William...William....William...I can't help you with that...so, I am going to transfer you to a different department that can help you with that.." Me: "If you have to." CSR: "William. Thank you William. William, I am going to transfer you.." Telephone: "Static..static...click, click, click..and ... Dial Tone." Line disconnected. This is only one snippet of conversation in the totally incompetent way they have handled my situation so far. I finally got to tech support and he was unable to help me but opened a ticket for me. I actually did get a representative call back which shocked me. He droned on about why I needed a security pin and instructed me to go to the Comcast office to pick up a voice modem for my telephone service. I told him to hold on a second, I wasn't going to go down there and wait in line for a service I don't need. Plus, I already have a modem. He told me he would transfer me to customer service so I could drop the telephone service. This is his failed attempt at a transfer: telephone: "static.static...garbled noise..no sound...no sound...click, click, click...dial tone." Call disconnected. I'm not saying that Comcast disconnects people and does not answer calls for people who are trying to downgrade their service, but it sure does feel like it. This is extremely frustrating. So when I was actually able to talk to someone about canceling my phone service, it was another frustrating experience. She was adamant that I needed the phone service. It felt like I was trying to kill her first born child the way she pleaded with me to keep the service. I had to bite my tongue because I know Comcast trains her to do this, and it's not her fault. But the whole time, I am thinking, I really do not need phone service. It is the year 2014 and cell phones are a perfectly useful way to communicate. Landline service is truly going the way of the dinosaur and you look pathetic trying to hold on to a relic of times gone by. Anway, a couple of chat sessions with a representatives on the Comcast website has ended with another ticket being created and my concern unresolved. The chat was equally frustrating, but I will not beat a dead horse. I began praying recently to Google. I pray they bring fiber optic internet service to the Atlanta area. Comcast is generally a word that elicits strong responses from people. Generally negative responses. I have had a long on and off relationship with Comcast. Comcast bought out AT&T's broadband cable modem service in 2003. Georgia has long suffered from a lack of many choices as far as broadband goes. Comcast, for me, has had some good qualities and some bad. When their service works, it works well. They have great speeds that have generally killed their competition (AT&T U-verse offers similar speeds now). Most people do not need the higher speeds, but I am pretty anal when it comes to my Internet speed. Now the bad part about Comcast: dealing with a Comcast employee. I do not think anyone, anywhere, ever has had a positive experience calling Comcast. Their tier one support's level of competence is on par with Sarah Palin's understanding of two syllable words. You really need to be sitting down and have a lot of time to spare when you call. Their actual technicians can be hit or miss. I have had some really knowledgeable ones and some guys who had no idea what HDTV even was. So I mainly wrote this for the same reason I wrote my review on UPS. So many of the reviews here are based on one bad experience. No, Comcast is by no means great, but when their service works, it is pretty good. Absolutely, positively the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I won't go into the details, but the past 3 times we have had to have a technician come to the house for service, the following was an example of Comcast's "quality" customer service: 1- uneducated people on the phone who do not understand simple concerns and who cannot answer simple questions about services provided 2 - miscommunication, or NO communication between departments 3- work orders getting "lost" in the system 4 - technicians being hours late for service appointments (today they were 7 hours late for my 8am-10am service slot) or just not showing up at all 5- equipment failing within 24 hours of installation 6- I have been hung up on at least half a dozen times (and it wasn't because I was yelling or rude) 7- technicians show up with wrong work orders 8- Comcast customer service is trained to tell you what you want to hear, but they never follow through on their promises, and will keep passing the buck until they disconnect you while on hold I have lost countless hours waiting around for them to show up or dealing with them on the phone. I just have to update because I think this is hilarious. I set up my Comcast account in 2009 and had just a stupid amount of problems. The most perplexing though was always the mystery modem that I never owned, that they insisted on charging me for. I finally just paid for it and moved across the country just to get comcast out of my life (okay there were other reasons for the cross country move). Randomly in the mail, I get a check from comcast in the exact amount I paid for the mystery modem. No explanation. Weve had them for almost two months. It has not worked from day one. We have called and chatted every week with no avail. I have always had a good experience at this store. The customer service is excellent and the employees have always helped me with making a payment or returning a cable box. I really like this store. I wonder if the poor reviews might be more related to the company rather than this store. It was clean and sleek. I went around two thirty on a Friday and there was no line and I was in and out to return the router rental. They had a waiting area wherein I could watch a big screen he tv or else even Netflix. The beginning of the end was about 6 months ago. After years of being a TV and internet customer, I got a call from Comcast offering to add a home phone line that would make my service cheaper due to the promotion that they were running. We'd been discussing getting a cheap land line now that we've got a little guy, so it seemed like a good choice. I scheduled the service call over my lunch break a few weeks later. They never showed, even after multiple confirmations of the appointment. They arrived 4 hours after the designated window and called to see if I could be there. When I explained that I could not, they apologized. A customer service rep contacted me, apologized, gave me a $20 statement credit, and rescheduled. And then it happened again... I got stood up. Only this time, I got absolutely no recognition from Comcast. Despite confirming my appointment twice during the actual window, I got no call later in the day from the service team, no call from customer service, nothing. Not even further telemarketing calls asking me to upgrade (so that was one plus...). So I broke up with Comcast this week. Enough was enough, and folks I trust told me about other providers who they prefer. I will say that the break-up was much easier than expected. The customer service rep didn't try to convince me to stay, just confirmed my account information and canceled it. There was some confusion when she attempted to find the closest location to turn in my DVR and modem... they system showed that I was in Fort Lauderdale (even though she'd just confirmed my address)... and then in Chamblee (close enough). I was able to use the website to find the best information myself... When I turned in the DVR and modem, the gentlemen at the location by Satay House in Alpharetta were VERY friendly. They took the equipment and gave me a receipt to confirm that my account was complete, all within 3 minutes and with big smiles. read more

Well, there's not too much more that I can add that hasn't already been said... Comcast is the absolute WORST company when it comes to customer service and support. Holy crap! Undeniably awful. And that's saying a lot, considering the massive decline in the quality of customer service across many American industries. It's sickening, mostly because the Powers-That-Be at Comcast must know how poorly they treat their customers, and... they obviously DON'T CARE. If they did, they'd be doing something about it. But when I experience months of obfuscation and inept support -- costing me time, energy, and money -- and then I read/hear about the numerous, similar complaints from other customers, it is apparent that there is something seriously wrong with this company. Customer-facing, it's completely broken; facing inward, Comcast must be reaping massive amounts of moolah, in part from their monopolistic stranglehold on service-provider options, and also in part from the fact that they must snag a huge amount of money from erroneous bills and fees. I'm surprised that some enterprising young lawyer hasn't nailed them with a ginormous Class Action lawsuit. If one did, I'd jump on that bandwagon in the blink of an eye, and I am not a person who appreciates the overly litigious atmosphere in the U.S. But frankly, how else does a company like Comcast change? Anyway, I did discover one minor helpful solution: I recorded my last call to their customer service (legally, informing them of the recording). Guess what? I finally got my bill (mostly) corrected, after weeks of getting the runaround. A company like Comcast always tries to lay the blame on the customer. And although they claim to record conversations on their end, I have a hunch no one bothers to play these alleged recordings back. And even if they did, there's no oversight that would provide an honest review of the discussion. So I figured I'd turn the tables on them, and apparently it worked. If I could give comcast -5 stars I would. My initial set up took a month and even then I had organge cable strewn across my lawn for several weeks afterward. It took me emailing the CEO to finally get everything straightened out. When you have to email a CEO to get basic services installed it says everything about a company. I'm now moving and the only reason I'm going with Comcast is that they are really the only player in ATL outside of Uverse who's speeds are much less. It's hard for me to believe, but I'm actually coming to the (half) defense of Comcast. I moved out of their area about 10 months ago, but had really great service from them. My Internet worked. As I rarely watch television, I did resent their pricing structure that required me to buy their "package." What little TV I did watch was available over-the-air, and was particularly annoyed when the cable signal was converted to digital, making it completely useless to the oldish TV tuner card in my PC. They let me use my own modem. They arrived on time for the installation appointment. The one service call I had in 6 years of service went well - the tech fixed a bad connection and threw in a better splitter for free. I took a chance that it might work for me and let them deliver the digital converter box, and they did let me return it when it turned out to be useless for me (albeit after a 20+ minute wait in line). But I had solid, fairly fast Internet for around $50 per month, which I think is not a bad deal. They gave me a year of discount when I moved (I gave them a semi-true sob story about my increased living expenses after buying a house). I am tech-savvy, and had few tech glitches, but they never treated me like an idiot (as have Sprint and AT&T). All that said, Comcast has a virtual monopoly. AT&T is not a viable option in my opinion. We might benefit if cable/Internet were under the same basic system as our natural gas service, despite how contorted that system is. All gas is delivered by one entity, but purchased as serviced by several companies. Doubtful this will ever happen, given the political clout of Comcast, but the "free market" will not likely fix this problem soon (seeing as how other efforts such as Clear Internet could not compete). The solution might be Google Fiber, but even that is not yet financially viable. In the interim, it is helpful to approach Comcast customer service with some patience and tact. Use their support web site as thoroughly as possibly. Especially, remember that the employees you are talk to on the phone are humans, just trying to make a living, just like most of us. Despite the company deciding they can get by with a poor support and marketing strategy, the person on the other end of the phone is not evil. Well... probably not evil. And be thankful that you are a person well-off enough to be able to even consider buying cable! read more

When we signed with xfinity they promised us the same plan with channels that we had with direct tv only to find out 2 months later that hbo stars, showtime etc are promotional and are not included in the package, customer service is terrible cant get a hold of a supervisor and they didnt do anything about it. I wish I could give them "0" stars! We have to use them for our homes in Georgia and Florida. Just today we had an appointment between 2 and 5 pm. At 4:15 someone called and said the technician would arrive at 4:50 pm. It's now 5:25 pm and no Comcast. In Florida we had to replace the DVR boxes for cable TV 4 times over 7 months. Then they asked if we wanted to keep this box over the summer at $ 5.- per. Month. What would make sense is to buy our own box which they don't permit or take the rented boxes between homes which they also don't allow since Each State is run separately. You try and get customer service on the line and you wait a ling time for a completely incompetent jerk who does not have a clue. Comcast as a company sucks! If you can find another Internet service provider, go for it!! I was kept waiting for two day to get Internet service installed at my home. To make a long story short, the CSR that took my order must have been dyslexic because she transposed my house number, which caused the installer to go to the wrong house. On top of that, she spelled my first name incorrectly; even after I spelled it for her and repeated my address to her at least twice. After waiting for two days and no install, I called to cancel the order and later that evening the installer shows up at my door. Since I really need Internet service, I allowed him to do the install. While he was here installing the Internet, I received an email from Comcast stating my installation was scheduled for May 6, 2013. The installer was here on May 3. I don't know how long I stayed on the phone with CSR's trying to find out when the installer was coming back. They would put you on hold forever long periods and I asked to speak with a supervisor, which never happened. One was suppose to call me back and to date, I have never received a call from a supervisor. On top of all that, I have VOIP and they only brought a box for Internet only. Now, I do not have a home phone because I have no place to plug my Ooma box. I am seriously unhappy with the lack of service from Comcast and when my six months are up, if not before; I will cancel my service with them. It is not a good service, they suck big time. read more

My appointment was for last Friday when the guy came and said it all was good and then bolted. I has yet to work. I have spent hours on the phone and through chat and its an endless circle. The latest is that i was given a box registered to someone else (??) and therefore they need to send another one and will send over night (that was yesterday). Today the box actually needs to go to a center first and its being sent standard. etc etc. will be sending back or refusing when it arrives. This comment is generally about Comcast as an organization. The rating has to do with THEIR request to change out a cable box. Due to my work and travel schedule I chose the self install option, apprehensively. So on Labor Day I did it. Followed the relatively simple instructions and voila, no signal!!!! So after meandering through automated options I ran into Juanita who was very helpful. So who knew you still had to call to activate the box. But OK. and, voila, no signal!!!!! So, change this and that cable, reboot and voila, no signal!!!!!!!! Ah we must have sent you a bad HMD1 cable. We'll send a technician but not today because we have no times available. So now I'm left to take time off from work, spend extra gasoline and be without TV until it's resolved. Not a big TV watcher but for the amount of monthly charges you'd think; oops I'm sorry I shouldn't have any expectations!! I'm obviously frustrated I complied with their request, made it easy for them by self installing and still have to wait for a technician because they might have sent an "unreading" cable. Really? Doesn't anyone test stuff before you send it out? Kudos to Juanita and Pinocchio to Comcast. BTW my internet is also sporadic. I have no options other than disconnecting fro the modern world as the other providers have issues too. Insult to injury they just sent me notice of my upcoming bill. Can't make this stuff up!!! I am so very disappointed in Comcast! I have been a customer for 2 months!!! The service is awful, my box has been out 2 times already! They received my payments and I still don't have service. In a two month time frame I have miss 14 days of service that I have paid you for! For a $49.99 Package, my monthly payment was $88.03 and I still don't have service! The representatives bluntly lie time after time and I am so tired of all these excuses and them not speaking English. I am actually wanting to speak with an attorney to file suit for non-service for as many days it has been when you have taken your payment out of my account. They are charging me for a service I am NOT receiving! The sad part is they don't care about us customers! Once we sign on the dotted line and that's simply ashamed!!!! ***This is a review for Comcast Xfinity in general and not for this particular location. Customer satisfaction and trust clearly mean nothing to this company. Due to issues out of our control, our internet went out and we had to have a Comcast rep come out and fix our service. We were promised on the phone as well as by the rep that we would not be charged a $50 service fee. We were charged the fee anyway, and when we asked they told us they could not and would not remove the fee. This is ridiculous and unfair. I'm sure many others can identify with the frustration that comes with being lied to, the company acknowledging you were lied to, and then refusing to fix it. read more

AVOID COMCAST AT ALL COSTS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT! Make sure that if you move to a new location that Time Warner Cable or Verizon is available for internet. You will not be satisfied with the lack of care that comcast delivers with its CAPPED USAGE. You may think that you won't go anywhere near the cap of 300gb per month, but if you stream any sort of videos, download anything, play xbox or ps3 online then you will exceed it monthly. They charge you $10/ 50 gb when you exceed the 300gb, avoid comcast at all possible costs, you will regret it. It used to be a fine company but now it is greedy, they say screw you and what you do on the internet, we want all your money. read more

I don't have time to list the amount of appointments they were a no-show for. i spent two days (8 hours each day) waiting for my installer. I got multiple calls and automated reminders about my appointment to push the time back or that the installer was held up and would be a bit late. I wasted a Saturday and a Sunday waiting for these people. if they had just said "we aren't coming" I could have at least gone about my day, but instead, I waited. I talked to six people, one who tried to sell me a long distance plan, rather than fix my existing problem. finally on Sunday evening I called and just said cancel it all. I don't want comcast anymore. I would have paid $120/month with comcast, but I will now be staying with AT&T paying almost $100 more. after I canceled, I received an automated message confirming my appointment for the following day. an appointment I NEVER made for a service I already canceled. I feel like this is all a joke or something....customer service just can't be this AWFUL. but it is, and Comcast will never get a cent from me, read more

I have had Comcast without interruption since 1995, and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have had issues with my service. My reception has always been great for the most part, and I really have no major complaints. I would say 19 years and about 3 problems is not bad. You have to expect to have issues at some point, but nothing major that hasn't been resolved promptly. We have had the internet and phone service about 7 years now as well, and without no major problems. I rent my wireless modem from Comcast, and only once I was without service for half a day. I spoke to technical support, who diagnosed my problem, and had me take the modem in the same day to have it replaced at no charge to me. The lady at the store even upgraded my modem for no additional charge. I had AT&T before switching my phone service to Comcast, and I switched to take advantage of a package deal that has saved me a lot of money over the years. I have read that people have problems contacting Comcast, but that hasn't been the case for me at all. Every time I call I'm usually on the phone with an actual person with 3 minutes. Customer service has always been good, and I personally have never experienced poor customer service or unprofessional behavior when I am on the phone with them. I have no issue and highly recommend them to people when they ask. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I enjoy my service and plan on staying with them for another 19 years. read more
