We come here quite often for the crepes. They are like no other and good variety. The older lady who makes them is very nice. I'm giving two stars because the younger man who works the register is very rude. This is my second time here and I ordered food this time. I got the chicken salad sandwich and my dad got the ham and cheese sandwich. We also got two aguas frescas in the mango and whichever the green one was haha also an empanada de guayaba. We loved everything, the drinks were good but they were more like smoothies than an agua fresca but maybe thats how they're made in another paiz? Avoid this place if you have any health related dietary restrictions. This coffee shop does not offer decaffeinated coffee!!! It's easy to make caffeinated coffee that taste good. I guess they took the easy way out by only providing coffee with caffeine in it. The macaroons are their only gluten free option and their only non-dairy milk alternative is almond milk. Like I said, avoid this place of you have health issues. There are other quaint coffee shops you can go to that can serve you a cup of coffee that you can actually drink. read more

Service is super nice and the food is pretty good!! The café de olla is a refreshing iced coffee with cinnamon and sugar. Both crepes were a good portion size. The Nutella crepe came with bananas and strawberries while the xielo crepe came with pieces of chicken, mushroom, spinach and I want to say some cheese as well?? Since coming back to the 805, been going back to this place since my arrival here 3 months ago. I LOVE their cajeta con Nunez and Cafe jesuita. On my first time here, the dad had me try the cafe Jesuita. I didn't hear which drink he had given me except that it had chocolate in it, which I loved. The 2nd time I came back, a younger guy wasn't too keen on helping me recall which drink I was recommended last time and quickly said it was simply a hot chocolate. Well, it wasn't the correct drink. Nonetheless, I gave it a 3rd and 4th try and those last 2 visits I've been loving the correct drink. I also knocked off a star since sometimes the crepe made by one of the girls had very little cajeta and was a bit dry. I like it when the dad is making my cajeta crepes I've also tried their other crepes and they're delicious. The bf n family likes this place too. I've tried their empanadas, macarons, fruit tarts, and cake pops. Those were ok. A bit pricey. Overall, I do recommend this little gem of a place in Oxnard! I came here after seeing the reviews and looking at the amazing pictures of all the desserts. I saw they had Raspado(shaved ice) and was really craving one, you can't go wrong with a Raspado! I've tried mexican Raspados that have fruit nectar and fresh fruit, american Raspados like kona ice or the ones inside malls, and the ones the corn guy sells and they are all delicious! Now if y'all are looking to spend $6 on a cup of ice with strawberry jam on top and bottom, then this is definitely the place to go!! Unfortunately I was not, so I had asked if this is how their shaved ice are normally like? The nice lady said yes and asked me if I wanted more jam, I declined. I asked if I can get a refund or store credit but apparently everything is final sale. I kindly said thank you and left. I ended up scraping off the jam because I don't really like jam and I just munched on the $6 cup of ice. read more

I'll drive great distances to try out exquisite French pastry places. This is a down to earth Mexican/French fusion family cafe, more conducive for carry-out than for dining. Pro's: incredible selection between sweet and savory treats. Con's: they run out of menu items. No hot chocolate, and no quiches left. So I ordered a savory crepe. The crepe itself is very tasty and soft, and tastes very similar to a thin pancake. The fillings however, were not very sexy or European. Whole corn kernels, white onion, and zucchini. The pecan pie tartlet was actually soft and good, but the macrons were a bit off, and not on the same level of a French macrons because of the extreme sweetness and the simple jam smeared between the layers. I'm so glad to help support this business, but be forewarned, this is not on the level of a French pastry or European cafe. The prices are really fair, so it's much better oriented for a family restaurant outing than an exquisite European patisserie experience. Friendly service and only 17 bucks for all three! read more

We happened across Xielo while passing through Oxnard, and it was one of the most surprising bakeries I've visited in some time. Glancing at their menu, at first I thought they were a French bakery due to the crepes on the menu. Wrong - they make gorgeous, superb-quality Mexican pastries, along with crepes, raspados, and hot drinks! They offer so many hard-to-find sweets with a level of quality that is equally uncommon. Their pastry cabinet is striking. You can tell from their presentation that they care so much about their baked goods... a great deal of passion and attention to detail goes into making their variety of cakes, cookies, empanadas, and custards. We tried their flan, estrellitas de cajeta (shortbread window cookies with cajeta caramel), and guava-cheese empanadas. The flan was rather different from the flan I am accustomed to. Instead of a thick, eggy custard, it's texture is more akin to an creamy ricotta cheesecake. Its flavor is the standard rich caramel custard, though. Delicious, and not overly sweet. The guava-cheese empanadas are excellent. The guava preserves in these diminutive empanadas is intensely flavored and sweet-tart, and the little smear of cheese inside perfectly balances out the guava. The folks at the counter were extremely kind and patient with our questions about the pastries. You can tell that so much time and thought went into this bakery and their menu. In the future, I greatly look forward to stopping in and trying more of their pastries, as well as some of their drinks and crepes. read more

And for the price, i was somewhat disappointed the freshness of their fruit -- you should make sure at least your strawberries are fresh and delicious, especially because you are located in Oxnard.
