Came with a close friend here, he recommended the cafe de olla. Also, my wife asked me to grab a few pastries. The combination of the two were amazing together. I was sent here by Tatiana's Coffee and Tea, as I was on a quest for cannoli and they no longer make them. So I'll always be indebted to Tatiana's, because Xielo is amazing. I've been in CA taking care of my mom who's doing cancer treatment, and have been looking for foods she likes to get her to eat more. Hence, cannoli. Not only did Xielo have cannoli, but they have numerous other bakery treats too - lo and behold, there was Napolean, another mom favorite! Then the person helping me asked "Does she like cheesecake?" Does she ever. He pointed out the cheesecake that either his grandmother makes, or it's his grandmother's secret recipe, and is "different." Of course I had to get some of that too, to wind up with the trifecta of my mom's favorites: cannoli, Napolean, cheesecake. Well. Suffice it to say my mom proclaimed each thing the best ever. The Napolean was perfectly flaky, and the cheesecake, wow. It was actually very similar to the Ukrainian-style cheesecake my mom makes for Easter, and we BOTH thought it was the best thing ever. Just dropped here today after Sunday church nearby. We ordered two of their coffees- with cinnamon, and chocolate milk. They were fresh and great. They don't have lattes here though. The server tells me they are like Mexican coffees. Then we had quiche- with cactus, ham and asparagus- served with red pepper dip. YUM! Then we also had to taste their popular crepe - we choose the lechera with banana and strawberries. It was also sooo good. Price was affordable. It is a four because no place to park and no enough seating. But will definitely go back. read more

What a gem! My partner and I are on a crepe kick lately, and a search on yelp brought this bakery up. A friend recommended it too-- she said the crepes were super fluffy. She did not lie! It's a small seating area, but not cramped. The service was great, the guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. We got to watch the crepes being made, which was really fun. The Nutella crepe was super delicious. We got it with strawberries and bananas. There was a delicious, creamy sauce lightly coating the fruit-- a chef secret recipe that perfectly complimented the bananas. Perfecto! I highly recommend this place. This place is so cute and smells amazing ! The staff is so sweet and helpful. I got the Oaxacan hot chocolate and crepe with lechera and fresh strawberries. The hot chocolate was amazing !! I just want to start out and say getting down how to pronounce this place was probably one of our families favorites memories. We have been visiting quite some time and have even brought our granddaughter who is only two years old and adores this place. So as we have heard many times, this place is quote on quote 'the best'. My wife and I start going back and reviewing the last 50 restaurants we've visited during our huge trip, we obviously, as dessert connoisseurs, have to rate this place. This is a place we always have to come to when we pass by before going to my wife's hometown in SLO, or even if we have a sweet tooth and want to get We have made it a tradition to come here with our beagle, Tom once every two months, especially to get out of the house. We absolutely lose it over the guava empanadas which I am sure the vast majority of you reading this obviously know what I am referring to. They also have a wide variety of delicious drinks that actually surprised my daughter and I. The only downfall, which can be fixed is the service. Since my wife only can drink decaf she was astounded by one of the baristas reaction when we requested a decaf drink. Ok, so maybe it was just a rough day for this man, which I completely get. And we get it. But we were a bit shocked by the treatment. That being said we hate to rip on business for this. I don't like to view our reviews as a fail- but rather as good feedback. There is always room for improvement. We brushed off the service many times and we agree we will stick to our Tierra Mia coffee. This place is amazing and we know It will kill it in the future. We only want these places to improve and see this review as a chance to get better. We obviously will be visiting again and will be licking our fingers after eating the guava empanadas. It's the best place in town! Did you know it's independently owned? You can sometimes go in and see the adorable dad making a crepe. He does it with such passion and a work of art. These crepes are not your basic kind. You can get savory crepes and you can't go wrong with what you choose. I hear the cafe the oja is the best! I still have to go in and try it one day.
