The shop is on the smaller side but has a few tables if you want to sit and enjoy your drink. It was still a little warm inside, but definitely much more comfortable than being out in the heat. One thing I appreciated was the large screen that shows the status of your order, so you always know where you are in the queue. Our drinks took a little over 10 minutes, but they were worth the wait. The brown sugar flavor was rich and delicious without being overly sweet. The boba had a nice chew to it, slightly firmer than I personally prefer, but still very good. I was also pleasantly surprised by the cup size. It's comparable to some of my favorite boba spots, yet comes at a more affordable price. With so many great places to eat in this shopping center, I know we'll be back, and this will definitely be one of our regular stops whenever we're in the area.

Unfortunately, when we got to the kiosk to order, it was already sold out. They were also sold out of the Passionfruit Lemon with Jelly, which would have been my second choice. I ended up ordering the 3 Guys, their signature milk tea with bubbles, pudding, and grass jelly. Hubby went with the Strawberry Candy Pop. The place is decently large with a good amount of seating. While we waited, we sat down and tried some of the buns we had just picked up a few stores down. Things got a little awkward when our drinks were ready. Hubby didn't grab the receipt from the kiosk, so when they called out a number, we weren't sure if it was ours. I told the employee what we had ordered, and he said it must be our order. However, when he mentioned it to the other person working there, who may have been the manager or owner, he seemed skeptical. I explained that we didn't get the receipt, but he grabbed the strawberry drink back, which felt a little odd, and then walked away to do something else. The 3 Guys drink itself was okay, and I do think their specials are a really good value. Unfortunately, the interaction at the end was a little off-putting and left us feeling uncomfortable. They have some good deals and an interesting drink selection, but based on this experience, I'm not sure we'd be back.

For context, I worked at a tea shop for five years, there's many ups and downs throughout working in this specific industry but if we really wanted to compare it to the greater giants of the food industry, it doesn't come close to our typical big chain restaurants. That said, my most recent experience at 3CAT left a different impression. I've visited in the evenings before, and while the service was just okay, I chalked it up to the typical fast-paced, no-frills service you often see at busy Chinese restaurants. This visit was different. I came in around 1:00 p.m. on a Tuesday. The store had only been open for about an hour, and there were no other customers. I simply asked for a cup of fructose from the dispenser. The staff member, who appeared to be the shift lead, asked what sugar level I wanted. I was a little confused because the fructose dispenser is labeled with pump settings, there's numbers on there depicting sugar levels. 1 pump is typically 5-10ml depending how it's configured so I asked for two pumps since my friend didn't expect her drink to be too light on sweetness. That is all. The exchange shouldn't have been some sort of awkward moment. However, the staff paused, looked at me like I had said something unreasonable, rolled her eyes, and asked again what sugar level I wanted. So I responded based off their sugar level system. I completely understand that working in food service can be mentally exhausting, but there was no rush at the time, and the interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive. Whatever may have been going on, customers shouldn't be made to feel like they're an inconvenience for asking a simple request.

At least they don't overdo the syrups, so they taste pleasant and balanced enough that I don't mind the artificial flavor. Their ice teazers/blended ice drinks are quite smooth and fluffy tasting slushies! They have a list of top 10 flavors & recommendations, but I'd really just get whatever flavor you typically like. I purchased a box of their genmaicha satchels and found it to be a little less potent than I prefer, but it's definitely better than some other genmaicha brands I've tried. Ten Ren is a great consistent boba place to grab drinks at if you're in the area, and especially if you are more fond of an old school taste with good tea strength.
