Take your car here! After reading the reviews, I decided to call and see about taking my car in and Sam was incredibly nice on the phone and gave me prices for a couple of things that I needed done. I don't know if it was a fluke but he was able to get me in the following day and the work was done same day. When I arrived, I spoke to his mechanic and he was just as nice as Sam was! I asked them to check the entire car to prep for selling it and they found that the brake pads were at 3%, so I added that as well. Took my beat up 2005 Scion XB (that I really only use to transport my pups around) to Xpert Auto Repair and they knocked replacing my starter out in a flash. I reached out late night, Sam responded and we set up a call for the am to arrange cost and schedule the work. Dropped it off before 10:30am (he had already ordered the part before I got there) and by 11:39 my car was ready. I regret not staying in the area and grabbing a coffee or something as I could have saved me the Uber fares but that's no fault of Sam, can't ding the guy for being efficient. My cars warranty was almost up so I brought my car to Sam and asked if he could find any work that needed to be done under warranty. Sam did not disappoint, he found enough work that paid for over half the cost of the extended warranty I purchased when I bought the car used. And Sam called the insurance company and took care of all of the paperwork! It's now been over a month and I have no complaints, my car is running better now than when I bought it. Sam is a magician and the ONLY mechanic I would trust my car with. When my Jeep Grand Cherokee needed a new a/c compressor, Sam really went the extra mile, going out of his way to find the precise and optimal Freon the car needed. He even kept his shop open after hours just to finish the repairs and waited to make sure we were able to pick up the vehicle less than a day after dropping it off. All this, while charging far less than other mechanics quoted me. As someone so inherently skeptical of auto mechanics, I cannot begin to express how relieving it is to find someone I can trust to do excellent work at a fair price. I have been going to Sam for over 10 years, since I was a teen! He's always been honest & realistic about what should be fixed in order to keep my car in running shape. Always fairly priced, sometimes it's too good to be true when he tells me the cost. Other times, reality is what it is and things are expensive, we're talking about cars here! Sam shows me all of problems (like actually points at the broken thing/s) on the car, explains what's needed (parts labor etc) & gives a quote. I have never felt any pressure to get work done. Sometimes we can only fix what we have $ for and this business understands that. Be honest about what you can afford & everybody will do their best. That's my experience anyway. All of the employees are very friendly & helpful. Everybody seems happy & family like. I have referred a few people here over the years and everybody tells me the same thing. Maybe it's a Burbank thing! Anyhow, the lot is small but not cramped. If you have to stay a while, waiting for service, this is probably the best location to stroll around and check out all of the shops on Magnolia Blvd. I just bought a cute little Ford Focus from Sam & feel good about the purchase! Sam is one of the reasons I don't pick up and move from Los Angeles, because then I would have to find a new mechanic and one as HONEST and full of integrity as SAM IS ... He doesn't do everything, and there are things - you as the customer HAVE TO KNOW when your car is serviced or repaired. If you just get your car fixed and then drive hard on it or hammer on it, the parts are new and they need time to blend in with the other parts based on stress or torque tightness or fitment or whatever is recommended. He spent time diagnosing where the problem with my battery draining was coming from (somewhere in the cabin), but didn't charge me because it was something he couldn't fix and I had to take the car to a dealership. I have personally been going to Sam for the past 12 years and I will not go anywhere else. Sam is the last of the honest mechanics who won't over charge you or upsale you on things you don't need. I was buying tires once and the Firestone mechanics quoted me $1,500 for a repair that they said I needed immediately or else my car was dangerous to drive. I immediately took it over to Sam and he did the repairs for only $545 and told me that it wasn't anywhere near as serious as the Firestone mechanics tried to lead me to believe. Yes! Actually, it was years ago that I was here and that's a good thing, as you'll see in my review. My old '89 Jeep Cherokee had its transmission replaced by Sam and he did a great, great job - probably better than the original 'factory' transmission.... First, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The price was reasonable and done in just a few days (he tested it thoroughly). My Jeep had about 130,000 or so miles on it when Sam rebuilt the transmission years and years ago. It now has over 305,000 and no problem whatsoever with the transmission. I live on the Westside, but if I lived in Burbank, Xpert would be my go-to place. Yeah - what you think now, huh!!?? read more
