WOW such a great experience. My fiance's 2008 PT Cruiser was having issues with the horn and we took it to one place and they couldn't do it they suggested another and we called them and they couldn't even look at it for a week. SIGH... the horn was going off randomly while driving and also wasn't working with the alarm so it wasn't super dangerous, but we didn't know what was causing it, but we knew it was electrical. So I got on Yelp and found Xpert, Sam saw us that day and he came in UNDER the quote and a few days early. He went above and beyond for us. I am so happy to find an honest, GREAT mechanic in Burbank. We especially liked that he didn't pressure us, he even said several times that if we weren't keeping the car for a long time (since it's 10 years old) that he wouldn't recommend changing the entire fuse box because it was a bit spendy (He got it from the dealer). BUYERS BEWARE!!!! Sam will rip you off. I was a Customer here for 5 years and I bought a Chevy HHR off of him. 4 months later the engine block cracked and the guy had the audacity to tell me it was my fault, that I had hit something. Hit what, a telephone pole going 90? Turns out he used cheap cylinder heads when he re-built the engine, another thing he won't tell you when you buy from him. Update: In regards to Sam's response 1) I brought the car over to Community Chevrolet in Burbank and they confirmed the engine block cracked due to the mechanic using cheap parts(in this case, cylinder heads) 2) All those cars I "drove into the ground" were all cars I bought from him and owned for less than a year. Sam and staff came to our rescue when my sons car broke down by his shop on a Friday afternoon. We didn't want to leave the car in Burbank as we live in Orange County, so we contacted Sam and he said as long as the parts are available, we will have it done by the end of the day. I had some popping noises on my Ford Edge and I called Xpert Auto Repair and Sam told me to bring my car in to get checked out. Not only did he give me a ride back to my house, but later that day he called to tell me that my car was under warranty and the Ford place would likely do the repair for FREE! I had no idea that it was still under warranty. I took it to the dealership and sure enough, they replaced the part that he said needed to be replaced and it was 100% covered. A friend and co-worker told me about Xpert Auto and swore up and down that Sam, the owner of Xpert Auto, is the best mechanic I would ever find. Since I had never been to small shop mechanic before, I figured I might as well give it a shot. I always went to places like EZ Lube and Discount Tire Center to have work done on my car, but I needed to have a whole lot of little repairs done and I didn't quite trust a big company to do everything well enough for the prices they charge. When I first brought my car to Sam I was expecting it to cost me at least $1000 if not more. I was getting the transmission fluid flushed, getting my front driver's side automatic window working, new front brakes, and a couple other things. Luckily for me, Sam fixed everything I asked him to, was honest with me about what actually needed to be done versus what I thought had to be done (i.e. my transmission fluid was fine, despite the numerous warnings about getting it flushed I got from EZ Lube) and the total cost for everything was only $650. That was almost 2 years ago and since then I haven't taken my car to anyone but Sam. Kinda like how I haven't gone to any other hair stylist in three years. Yeah, I'm loyal like that. I'm fairly good at judging when there's something wrong with my car (though I'm really good at ignoring problems, which I need to stop doing), but I don't always know what needs to be fixed. Sam is excellent at figuring out what exactly is wrong and the best way to go about fixing it. He always explains everything in detail before he starts working on your car. He even tells you how serious of a problem it is (and whether or not it's something that can wait a couple months to be fixed) and never forces you to get the work done. And he'll give you a pretty exact estimate beforehand too (be sure to ask). It's hard to find a good, honest, reliable and trustworthy mechanic shop, but when you do it's so nice. Pros: ============================== -Quick. I told them what I was suspicious about and they called me that same day with a diagnosis and were able to repair the problem pretty quickly. I got my car back the next day. -Nice. The guy there was nice enough. He kept the shop open a little later than normal on Saturday so I could pick my car up. -Price. He will not screw you on the price of the work. That is worth another half a star if I could give it.. Cons =============================== - Two weeks after I got my car back from him my check engine light came on. I asked him to check the car out and tell me what needed to be fixed. I wanted to get it all done and out of the way. The fact that the light came on means he didn't most likely check the car thoroughly. I would rather wait longer for my car and have it fixed than have to bring it back to another shop in two weeks. -The work he did on my alignment was pretty bad. It was okay when I brought it in, but I knew there were some issues so when he told me about them I ok'd him to fix it. Unfortunately now my car pulls to the right all the time. No Bueno.... The fact that I have to go see another mechanic two weeks after having this place look at my car is unacceptable as far as I am concerned. read more

Sam was highly recommended to me by my brother, so when the brakes on my 2010 Corrola started rumbling, I decided to take my car to Xpert Auto. I took the car in on Wed around noon asking him if he could change the brakes by the end of the day, because I needed the car back by thursday morning for school. I didn't think he would have the time to do it, since there were many other cars being repaired at his shop, but then I got a call at around 2:50, telling me my car was ready, wow, very fast service! When I when to pick it up he told me he changed the brake pads and also grinded down my brake disks because they had been caved in a little due to lack of pads on the brakes. I had suspected this since I haven't changed the brakes on this car since I bought it, I was so glad that he grided them rather than telling me to buy new disks, since they can be very expensive, so he is a very honest guy. To top it all when I sat in my car I noticed that my low tire pressure light was no longer on! He had also put air in my tires, I know it's not a big deal and that it's something I can do myself, but the fact he noticed an unrealted problem and fixed it says a lot about his character. It's a good feeling to have your brakes and your car back in a few hours and all at a very affordable price, I'll be recommending him to all my friends. Thanks Sam! read more

I really love how honest Sam is. I have taken my 2001 Ford Ranger to him three times during the past year an a half. (Twice for major things, once for an oil change, and inspection to make sure my truck would be good for an upcoming road trip). One time was for my transmission shifter, was worn out and not shifting in the correct gear. Sam fixed it the same day. Another time my truck was hesitating while idling, and he recommended a tune up and that did the job. I think the mechanic Jesus does a great job working on my truck and is always nice to show up early so I can drop my truck off before work. I like how Sam explains what he did, and shows you the old part he removed, so that you feel like the job was done right. You don't want to just trust your vehicle to anyone, but trust it will be done right with Sam. Highly recommend! read more

As someone who is very skeptical about service in general, I know how hard it is to find a neighborhood mechanic you can trust and feel comfortable with. But Sam and Xpert Auto are exactly that.
