We stopped by for lunch today right when they opened (Sunday at 11:30am). It's a lowkey spot, and a few people stopped by for takeout. Lunch plates run $16 for two items and $19 for a three item plate, with some items having an upcharge. Lunch plates also come with miso soup and a side salad. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he let us know about a sushi roll deal that was buy 2, get the 3rd free (if I recall correctly). * Salmon roll: I was really surprised with how good the quality of fish was! The roll also had good amount of salmon inside; it wasn't overstuffed with rice which is a salmon roll pet peeve of mine. * Teriyaki chicken: Tender white meat with good flavor. Generous portion size for the price. * Bulgogi: I'm usually hesitant to order bulgolgi at Japanese restaurants but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was. It's better than some Korean places I've been to and definitely the best I've had at a Japanese spot so far. This had a $2 upcharge. * Crunch roll: Classic shrimp tempura roll. Solid and as expected. * Miso soup: Also as expected, no complaints. * Salad: It's your standard Japanese restaurant salad with the sweet ginger salad dressing. I liked the dressing here, it had a sweet tangy feel but didn't overpower the greens. Parking is easy with spots right in front. The interior looks a little dated, but after trying the quality of the food it makes me feel like I found a hidden gem in Los Al. Only downside: the bathroom wasn't stocked with paper towels, but we were also the first customers of the day, so that might've been a timing issue. read more

Unfortunately the udon and the ramen was one of the most disappointing noodle dishes I've had. The broth tasted like plain hot water with almost no flavor. Phenomenal service and food! Their salmon was the best salmon I'd ever had. It melted in my mouth. Their prices are typical, but their specials make up for it! I have passed this place many times and decided to finally try it. I did order to go and ordered the classic combo which came with 3x spicy tuna rolls, 3x California rolls and 3x shrimp tempura rolls. I was also given a miso soup and it came with a salad. Only one staff that was waiting the tables and the other that was in the back cooking. Sushi was ok. Nothing special. I'd have to say very mediocre sushi and quality. They had very interesting names for the sushi they offered. We went with the I love you ass roll, pink ranger, hot night, calamari crunch roll, and spicy garlic edamame. Out of all the rolls the best one probably was the I love your ass roll and the hot night. But I can't say I would go out of my way to come here or to try more rolls or even to get those two I recommended. Parking available in the plaza but with so many other businesses can be hard to get parking right up close you might have to park a few businesses down. Staff was nice and since there was only one server poor guy was handling all the pick ups as well as the dine in. one thing that bothered me is this place served canned drinks. Staff is terrible and over charged us after getting our order wrong. Instead of wasting food with the wrong sushi roll they brought out, we decided to be nice and not waste food and take what they gave us. When the check came they then decided they would still charge us the more expensive roll price instead of making it right and making up for their mistake by charging for the roll that we actually ordered not the roll we didn't order. They refused to make the adjustment when they were wrong and made the mistake in the first place. No wonder why this place is always empty and have C level staff who can't get positions at a real restaurant. Never ever have we experienced such a rude and defensive staff and terrible customer service after them being the ones who made the mistakes. As a food service professional, I generally save my comments for praise. I know how hard it is to deliver quality to your customers consistently. In this case there were several "unforgivable" moments. The biggest being the rice was terrible. Over cooked mushy and literally tasted like tap water. Went here for lunch. First, they don't open until 11:30 am. Yelp says 11. I ordered a combo with 2 items: salmon teriyaki and veggie tempura. The piece of salmon was tiny and flavorless. The tempura was ok but oily. The biggest problem was the tempura sauce. It had vinegar in it! I suggested that they had given me the wrong sauce. They checked with the chef and said they hadn't.
