Well I decided to try this place as I always pass buy it on way from Costco or Gourmet Pie or Katella Deli. Wish I'd gone somewhere else. I ordered to go. Very disappointed. I wouldn't go back to this place. And they even charged me $2 extra because I wanted to have jalapeño instead of cream cheese in my roll. So what did they do. They put enormous amount of jalapeño. Like absurd amount. It was awful. And then no nice sauce on the sushi. It was dry and some cheap generic sweet chili sauce was in a little container. And then the salmon on the others roll tasted funky. And then to top it off. My food was sitting on the table for 10 minutes before the waitress checked to see if it was mine. Xtreme Sushi has great specials and an AYCE option. I've tried their AYCE before. For $33 per person, they have a large variety. Their fish quality is a little higher than other AYCE sushi places. What I also enjoy about this place is that they offer AYCE sashimi options besides just nigiri. I like their yellowtail, escolar, and eel most here. They were fresh and full of flavor. Their rolls are also decent although I tend to stick with just sushi. There isn't usually a wait here. It's very casual inside but cute. The people who work here are very nice. The food comes out fast and they keep checking to make sure you are taken care of. Our waiter also answered a bunch of questions we had. This has been my family's go to sushi spot for years. We absolutely adore the owner who is the nicest man and the staff is always so helpful. There's usually a sport game playing on the tvs and a tv playing a Disney movie which is a nice distraction for the kiddos. I always get the Grand Canyon the sauce and toppings are so delicious. We always order the whose you're daddy also which are the filled jalapeños and they're so good. Ordered delivery via app during covid and was "Xtreme"-ly disappointed. We ordered a combo which didn't give us options to pick, just a box to say which roll and sushi we wanted. We were charged extra presumably for the roll. Which is fine but I didn't end up being able to eat it! Also I specified certain allergies and they still included it in the order. So to disregard my allergies AND charge us extra without even telling us first makes for a very disappointing experience. We decided to drive over and order in thinking they might still do all you can eat but they don't. We decided to stay and had a few rolls. Bree was a perfect server for us, she was all over it and just the right balance of checking in. The vibes were nice, up beat music and some TVs on too. We ordered about $75 worth of food last night for a family dinner. We got it to go. Ordered two separate orders of California roll. When I got there to pick it up, there was a menu at the front desk. They were not allowing people to dine in, so there was a table right at the entrance where you had to stand. The very young girl told me they were still preparing my sushi and it would be another 5 to 10 minutes. At the bottom of the menu in very bold print it said "2021 SPECIAL. BUY 2 GET ONE FREE SUSHI" So of course, I asked if I could get a free order of sushi for the 2021 Special. I swear.. this is how the exchange pretty much went. She said Oh, no you can't do that. I stared at her. I said Why not? She said Oh, well we can't do that because you already ordered. I said, How many orders did I place over the phone? She said two. So I pointed to the printing and said but it says Buy two get one free, so can I get the free one? She said, Oh, no you can't do that now. I said Why not? She said because you already ordered. I said, Yes but that's the special. She said I know but you had to order it all at the same time. I said, why? She said, Because that's the only way you can get the special. I said, what does it matter? You're still making the sushi. She said I know but you had to order it all at the same time. I said, But why does it matter? She said, Well you just can't do that. I stopped conversing with her because of the frustration of the conversation. I took some stuff out to the car, came back to pick up the rest of it, and then asked her Well, why did you not tell me about the special over the phone when I ordered? You were the person I talked to right? She said Yes. I said Well how come you did not tell me about the special? And she said, Well I thought everybody knew about it already. I'm thinking, why the heck would she think that somebody who is ordering dinneri over the phone think that we would already know about the special? There are about a dozen sushi places within a 5-mile radius of Los alamitos, and there is about 100,000 people that live in that area. There are some really good, extreme deals here. The lunch special was $16 for three items and I got a bulgogi, 8 piece spicy tuna sushi roll, and 8 piece salmon sushi roll. The lunch special comes with miso soup and a small salad as well. I had a small bowl of rice to go with the bulgogi. I wish I had just got 2 food items since I was full eating the spicy tuna, bulgogi, rice, soup, and small salad. I will say that the salmon roll sucked though. Some people got their miso and salad at the start of the meal, others didn't get theirs until others had their entrees, etc. (and several items were forgotten) -Smaller restuarant, there may be a significant wait for parties larger than 2. -Questionable characters hanging out outside (by 7-Eleven), just an FYI if you are waiting for a table, as there's no waiting area inside. Overall, the service was incredibly disorganized on a Friday night, it seemed like the kitchen couldn't handle the orders even though the restaurant was less than half full. However, it is a small business, so it's kind of understandable. Our server couldn't answer questions about the menu and would keep disappearing, but the owner was at the sushi bar and would give him the info as needed. Good, not great, but I've definitely had better. The chef was pleasant and did a great job, but the quality was a bit under par for me. The rice was a bit undercooked, which resulted in an unpleasant taste in your mouth. The last order of salmon, the jalapeño poppers and the first round of oysters were amazing tho. We noticed some ponsu type sauce on a lot of the sushi options, which made each sushi wet and difficult to pick up. Okay so I've tried this small local sushi place several times and each time the food was consistent and pretty good. They have a big selection of rolls. I got the 'I Love Your Ass' and 'Pimp 7' roll a while back because of the name but it's actually real good and I continue to get it. I tried about 5-6 different rolls now. Initially, I was trying the rolls cuz of their names but they all were pretty good. Maybe they should change all the names of the rolls to funny names and I'd try them all. The place is open late on weekends so that's a plus. It's a small and cozy joint that is putting out pretty tasty sushi rolls. They have a wide range of rolls that can suit nearly all. This sushi spot met my late sushi dinner needs! I was happy to find this place was open late and didn't seem like it was hit or miss. I ordered the Alaskan and the Hawaiian rolls on Grub-hub through Yelp, and my order was completed early. The server was happy to provide me with some extra spicy Mayo and eel sauce upon request. The quality of the fish was great. The rice ratio was perfect. Some places can tend to overdue to rice but Xtreme Sushi didn't disappoint. So far I only tried the fresh rolls and they're great. All the food was good with the exception that we asked for no spicy mayo based off the menu description. Rolls arrived and "not spicy mayo" but regular mayo!!! WTH!!! If you say no spicy mayo on anything, at what point does the waitress say..."ummm, is regular mayo, ok?" Even though it's not listed on the description???? So, waitress said..you have to specify. I am so obsessed over this spot!! I came for my first time only last week. I was totally in the mood for sushi and matched my outfit as such. Everything we tried was bomb!!!! Visited this restaurant with coworkers on a St. Patrick's day and had a wonderful time. We were looking for a smaller mom and pop shop type of establishment to enjoy eating, drinking, and chatting in a more relaxed setting, and we got exactly that here. As for food, everything was delicious and freshly prepared. Uni Sushi and Albacore Butter Garlic Roll were my personal favorite! The sushi chef told us that they make all the sauces in-house, such as eel sauce and soy sauce, and that made sense because all the sauces on the rolls or other appetizers were less sugary and more flavorful than other sushi joints that I've been to. Eel sauce especially was so good. It was a very busy evening - restaurant was packed with only 2 sushi chefs and 2 servers - but all the workers were good spirited and food came out in timely manner. There were lots of customers here that seemed like regulars; they were going around tables to cheer their drinks with other customers, and sushi chefs, just having a good time. And we happen to come here during happy hour so it was buy 2 rolls get on free. Such a great deal!! We highly recommend the white night roll! It was to so delicious and so many different textures. We also got the pink ranger and hot night roll. The spicy tuna is spicy so it really wakes your mouth up. Ive only gotten their Rainbow Roll, but I will try others in the future. The only issue I had with the Rainbow Roll was that they forgot to put avocado in it. Besides that it still tasted good. Yesterday I tried their bulgogi and California roll combo. The bulgogi was good. It comes with rice and salad.
