This place denied my brother and his girlfriend from entering because their ID's were from Nevada. Dog shit establishment for not letting people in for out of state ID's. My brother was born and raised right here in Elk Grove and can't come to town to enjoy a drink with his friends and or brother. Bouncers claimed it a management issue. Went to the y-not on Wednesday to meet up with friends. They had Shawn Wrangler playing country music and it sounded phenomenal. Gave the entire place so much more color. Enjoyed it so much we stuck around to the last song. Easily one of my new favorite spots in Elk Grove! read more

We used to come here a lot for the karaoke on Thursdays, and it was amazing with the KJ Nina! Last week we came, and it has changed so much, and not in a good way. The order in which you sing isn't what it should be, and you don't get a speaker giving you feedback, so you can't hear your voice. I mean, y not? We found ourselves in EG this past Sunday visiting family and it was mentioned early in the evening that Wrangler reopened under the name, Y-Not Club. None of us had been in since this rebranding and we were as curious as we were thirsty. So we went. Wow, is it August already?! We did have a nice time on a lazy Sunday evening. The place wasn't that busy, but I bet it is on weekend evenings. The line dancing set up looks like it has potential. Not that I've ever done that here. I don't think I have any sober memories from this place back in the day, and my memory is not what it once was. Drinks were fixed quickly, and I liked the well whiskey they use here, didn't catch the name but it was new to me and my partner. A few games of tabletop jenga were completed without drink spillage, quite a feat. We got one pretty high and precarious before it fell to its doom. Y-Not also has one of those touch tunes jukeboxes that allow you to use either the app or the physical machine to choose songs. We had fun messing around with that, but we did notice that there was some song skipping going on from either patrons or behind the bar, couldn't tell which. It wasn't any of mine, but even so I don't much care for that as songs cost money and it's lame to waste. I know you can also pay to skip in the app, but yeah if it's coming from the business I don't care for that, sorry. Threw the vibe off just a bit for me, but everything else about the experience was just fine. I would come back again if I'm in the area visiting folks. I highly recommend the Y-Not Club in Elk Grove for a really good time! All of us went there on Thursday karaoke night and had so much fun! The place was built I believe in 1910.. it's got an old saloon type vibe to it, it's really cool! They have an outdoor area, a great full bar..everyone there has a smile on their face... Driving by, we noticed the Wrangler had reopened, so we stopped to check it out. Even though it has "The Wrangler" signage, it is now the Y-Not Club. As we entered, we stopped at the bar. We asked how long it had been open, and the bartender told us it was their opening night. There was a mix of patrons--some cowboy hats, some motorcyclists, and some young 20 something's hanging about. We met a beautiful King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, so they must be dog friendly. As we wandered through the first room, and into the second, there was small stage for live entertainment, although there was none while we were there. We passed through the second room, and entered an outdoor area. As I was talking about the name and "The Wrangler" signage, we were informed by one of customers that it is now called the "Y-Not", as it was known for many years before it became "The Wrangler". We arrived early to listen to a band that we have seen before and enjoyed. When we arrived it was cold and they had the front and back doors open creating a wind tunnel. We never took off our coats. This is a great local dive bar! They have an outdoor seating area with couches, tables, and bench tables, as well as a bar and high top tables inside. Dogs are welcome. The service is amazing! I always like to ask what their $3 beer is. They have corn hole, giant jenga, a pool table, and more! From the live music to the line dancing, I highly recommend this bar. read more

I came upon the Y-Not Club unexpectedly but it was definitely a happy accident. It kind of feels like one of those off road gems that you might find yourself at if you were in a roadtripping western film where the main characters were stopping for a beer. There is a 5$ cover charge and a bar when you walk in. Service was really quick even though there was a good amount of people and my drink was tasty. I walked through the bar too meet my friends outside. There are three sort of areas that I found at the Y-Not. First the bar (also was a covered pool table), second was a dance area with a live band playing country hits, and third was an outdoor patio and game area. I met my friends out on the patio and joined them in playing a large game of connect four. It was fun but the connect four might need to be replaced because the pieces kept slipping on top of each other. There was also giant Jenga and corn-hole which was fun. I really enjoy bars that have a lot of activities like this especially if there is also the option to dance so thats why I rated them so high. I have been going this bar for 27 years. This includes the original Y Nor and when it was changed to the Wrangler and back to the Y Not. What a surprise tonight!. I am an old local been around for years.. I was pushed by a patron because there was two dogs running around and I spilled my Bud Light. GOD for BID something is spilled in a bar. The bartender immediately gave a me a water and says you are done. What! a surprise. Several youngsters were clearly intoxicated and ordering shots No Problem. Pour them another until they drop, puck, fight or cause a problem Not to mention I sent a younger cat to inquire into why they would cut me off. They said I I had an attitude. Are you serious. In 40 years I have never been cut off or been humiliated in any establishment. Go figure What a shame to be discriminated against as a senior r citizen. What is this world coming to. As an FYI my wife and I have frequented this bar at least twice a month for 27 years! So sad! read more

Felt like having a few drinks but not wanting to deal with midtown, we decided to try out Y-Not. Previously this place was the Wrangler and it still looks the same, some signage inside still says the wrangler. They have a pool table, large connect 4, large Jenga and 2 sets of cornhole boards outside and a stage with dance floor. We arrive shortly after 11pm on a Saturday and asked about playing pool because it was covered and unbeknownst to us, they stop playing pool at 9pm on Friday and Saturdays but the bartender was great and let us play anyways. Drinks seemed average, Captain and coke was $8 and coronas were $7. Bathrooms were clean, that's always a plus! Overall it's a decent bar, much better vibe from when it was the Wrangler. The night we came they had a live band and charged a $5 cover. Honestly the band wasn't that great and not worth the cover, so while we'd for sure come back, probably not on nights when they change a cover. read more

Y-Not Bar, Sheldon/Elk Grove, CA - May 16, 2023 We stopped by tonight surprised the old Wrangler has reopened as the Y-Not. Tonight is the Grand Reopening. How exciting is that? Apparently, before the bar was called the Wrangler, it was called the Y-not Club. So they have reverted back to the old name. The place was lit up like a Christmas tree as we were driving by, so we had to turn around and go check it out. There was a food truck outside serving street tacos. Looked good, but we had already had dinner a couple hours earlier. The motorcycles out front gave the impression that we would find a bunch of bikers inside; however, when we walked in, it was just a good old fashioned country bar vibe. At that point, it seemed that ordering a couple shots of tequila was the only way to go forward. The bar is inviting and you can't help shimming up to the counter where the bar keep asks "what'll you have?" The old Wrangler charm is still there. So glad to see the new owners are breathing new life into this iconic Sheldon Bar. Looks like they'll do Wednesday karaoke and live music on Saturdays. Went into the YNot bar on a Sunday for some bloody Mary's and they did not disappoint. Kristen was the sweetest bartender and has her Bloody Mary game down. One of the best bloody Mary's around town with all the garnishes. She also makes a delicious mai Tai. All the TVs were on, which made for a great place to watch a game. It was a relaxed, fun environment. We highly recommend for a good time and great drinks. read more

Karaoke on Thursdays with Nina is a blast! Decent rotation (she keeps it fair). Good bartender. Overall good vibe!

The place is ok most nights, but I recommend avoiding the lousy country bands there like Bo Jeffer.
