Was dealing with cold symptoms, so I wanted to eat some hot soup. I decided I should get some yakamein and looked up yakamein spots. This one popped up and since I'd heard of it before, I decided to try it one Saturday. It's located on a corner and there is only street parking. I went in and there was a guy working there who took my order. I decided to keep it simple and just get the beef yakamein. While waiting, one couple came in to order food. It took about 10 minutes for it to come out which wasn't bad. I opened it once I got to the car and the presentation was nice. I stuck my fork in one of the beef pieces and it was really tender. Once I got home to eat it and consume some of the broth, I realized it was really salty. I had to add a good bit of water to it so I could eat it. Also, the meat wasn't consistent, some pieces were tender while others were pretty chewy. Besides the broth I feel like they give you a good amount of meat and noodles. If the broth was less salty it could get a 4/5. read more

Man man man! This Beef Yakamein was the best I've ever had. I originally wasn't a big yakamien fan but this place made that change. The broth was so flavorful perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of spice! I can only imagine this on a super cold day it will be the perfect meal. The beef was real tender but it still had a nice bite to it, it wasn't falling apart I really enjoyed that. The noodles had the perfect the chew was amazing they were cooked really well. The only down fall is they ran out of eggs I was shocked! The service was pretty good the young lady was really nice, and the food came out in 5 minutes that's always a plus! Excellent food, friendly service. The dining area and bathroom were very clean. Even though the space is fairly small, they can fit a lot of us in there. We dined in and enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we stayed for over an hour. My chicken pho was well seasoned and hardy. The egg was perfectly cooked with a soft yolk cooked at the perfect temperature. I'd had Yakamein House for takeout and was even more impressed with the food in person. When my husband and I arrived around noon on Saturday, it was pretty busy all of the tables in the small dining area were full, and there were about three other parties that were standing seemingly waiting on their food. My husband ordered the cheeseburger, Poboy, and I ordered the yakamein beef bowl. The cashier was really helpful. After ordering, we waited for what seemed like a while. I was going to give it 20 minutes before I inquired how much longer with the cashier. However, I got a text that my order was ready after 15 minutes. I will say I did feel bad because we received our order before the three other parties that were standing waiting when we walked in... however I have no idea what they were waiting for and what they ordered. When I think of yakamein I expect spaghetti noodles but this bowl was survived with fettuccine noodles which is the reason for the 3/5 review. I just think the noodles took away from the dish. First time to this fairly new yakamein and po-boy restaurant. I read good things about yakamein and I have been looking for place to regularly get some old sober. I believe this may be the answer. I ordered the beef and chicken and the flavor profile was very nice, i could tell the soup had simmered for a while to gain flavor. The umami flavors were my favorite part and when I bit into the chicken there was a hint of sweet. I say we have found another queen of yakamein in town. We have room for 2 great women with 2 great recipes. They let me sample the sweet potato pie and it was very good and i would recommend that if you want a sweet treat afterwards. They also brought me a sample of the shrimp. It was seasoned well, but the shrimp was bit over. With less cook on the shrimp it would be nice. In really enjoyed the owners and talking with them the staff are friendly and helpful. The serving size was more than you get at Jazzfest so I can see why they charge more than some may like. It will easily be 2 meals for me. And it would great to share 2 different soups or a po-boy. They also have different salads regular and the special Yaka-mein po-boy. There were a ton of options on the menu, and I finally chose the shrimp, beef, and chicken bowl. You get a lot of food per portion size, definitely enough to share or save for another meal. The beef yakamein was giving everything. It was flavorful, a little spicy with a lot of substance to the broth. You can ask them to hold the pepper flakes if you don't like spicy foods like myself. Mostly all you tasted was the fried pie shell. I hope they recognize the flaw with the pie because if it's corrected this place would be a win. Let me tell you the customer service at The Yakamein House is top tier. I told them the issue I had with my previous experience with the sweet potato pie. They advised me that they recognized the issue and acted immediately to resolve the problem. They said that they value their customers and wanted them to have an all around good experience with they come to their establishment. They realize customers have many places they can choose to spend their money. They emphasized how appreciative they are when customers choose them. Let me say the change to the sweet potato pie was for the best. The pie crust was light and flaky, the filling was plentiful, and sweet like your mom's homemade sweet potato pie with just the right amount of icing. On top of all this it was served hot!!!!
