I stopped here for lunch to check it out...I had never eaten here before and I was intrigued. I had heard and read mixed reviews of the place. The menu is really extensive with pages and pages of choices...at the very end, I found the Lunch Specials and I chose the Boneless Rib and Beef Teriyaki combo. It came with pork fried rice (white rice is also an option) and a spring roll (I could had also chosen egg roll or crab rangoon). The pork fried rice was good, not oily, good and light...a good companion to the meats in my plate. The beef teriyaki was a bit chewy, a bit tough, but it had a nice marinade. The boneless ribs were not bad, but they were definitely not fresh they had been refrigerated and reheated for my order. My spring roll was piping hot and crispy on the outside...not bad.... Overall the food was OK, but nothing extraordinary. My server was typical Asian lady a bit rushed, a bit stern...no complaints on her service though.

    Steak and Salmon Hibachi Combo

Yama Fuji is your one stop shop for sushi, Hibachi, Japanese, and Chinese food. I came here with a Groupon for $30 towards Hibachi Dinner for two or more. The Groupon required us to make a reservation and I was able to make reservations the same day for dinner. There were a few tables occupied, but not too many. The restaurant is huge. There are regular tables, a bar area, and hibachi tables. We had a whole hibachi table to just us 2. We ordered the Steak and Scallop Hibachi Combo and Steak and Salmon Hibachi Combo. The hibachi chef was engaging and did the usual sake skirt, volcanic onion, and throwing vegetables to our mouths. The hibachi combo came with mushroom soup, salad, hibachi fried rice, 2 pcs shrimp appetizer & vegetable. The food was very flavorful and we had to pack some of it to go. The chef did ask us how we wanted the steak and we both said medium, but it came out well done. The scallop, salmon, shrimp, fried rice, and vegetables were cooked really well. The salad was covered with dressing. We also ordered the peking duck to try since I've been missing it. They gave us a good portion of peking duck with the skin. There were 4 pieces of tortilla and not buns that traditionally comes with it so a little spin there. It was tasty though. We had originally ordered the drinks, but we never received them. I guess the waitress forgot and we didn't get charged for them. My husband saw the waitress roll her eyes a few times, but the hibachi chef and other staff were friendly. There is a parking lot on the side of the restaurant and also street parking. I would come back here to try other dishes.

Food was great and arrived in time . The freshness of the egg roll and food was excellent even though they closed in an hour my food was still hot when I received it

Just got paid, Friday night... I haven't been to this place in 5 years. One night decided to get sushi so we figured we would try this place again. It was very good. Also got egg rolls and they were so yummy! Cooked perfectly. Fast forward 1 week...we decide to get Chinese from there and of course sushi! My husband got a pupu platter for 2 and I got general Tso's chicken with beef fried rice. My husband got shrimp fried rice but I forgot to take a picture. My general Tso was SO spicy and I like spicy but this was a little much. So I don't think I will be getting it anytime soon. However it was good so if you like spicy I suggest you get it. The sushi was the 7 princess roll! So yummy but sad because I forgot to ask for spicy Mayo on the side.

    Sushi. Really good!

Mix feelings here. I feel that I wasted my money. The food is not cheap, so I assumed something more fresh. The salad looks old and it's not the first occurrence I received brown salad. The sushi is good though hence the three stars. The customer service is off and on depending on the day and who you get.

It was my first visiting Yama Fuji, I ordered my favorite traditional Sichuan food, which is the fish fillet with spicy sauce, Chongqing Chicken and two salmon rolls. Salmon rolls - I would be honest the salmon in the roll is very minimum. I wasn't very satisfied with how much fish in the role. Chongqing Chicken - I really liked the Chongqing Chicken! It's well fried, very crispy and a tad sweet. It tastes like popcorn chicken. Fish fillet - I would give it 8 out of 10. It tastes pretty good but not the best I had. The fish itself is very fresh and soft, and it's not too spicy. Servers are very nice!

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

At first glance, you don't see much from Elmwood Ave, but veer to the right and everything opens up on the left, with a parking lot in the back. Ornate statues lead you to the entrance, and once inside you are instantly greeted with bold colors and beautiful art everywhere. I wanted to take the opportunity to try some Cambodian food, so after some quick research, I opted for Beef Lok Lak, which happened to be one of the lunch combos. I chose fried rice and nime chow for my lunch options and settled back to wait for my feast. They bring you a complementary pot of hot tea, which I enjoyed. I believe it was a straightforward unsweetened black tea. Perfect for me. Before long the rangoons arrived. I literally said "wow" when the runner set my plate down. Beautiful golden brown, small bubbles visible all over the outside, promising crispy goodness. And it delivered. What I didn't expect what the slight chewiness to the wrapper that enhanced the experience. The filling was super creamy and delicious, but I prefer my rangoons with scallions as well. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. Then my lunch came. The beef was perfectly cooked, the dressing tangy and peppery. The nime chow was herby and super fresh as it should be. And the rice had this extra depth of flavor that made me think of tomato paste? A lovely addition the dish. I had a great meal here and the rangoons are definitely worth having! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu!!

We checked in with the host on the first floor, but she escorted us to the second floor to be seated. I always liked that this restaurant seems to be a small house converted into a restaurant since it literally makes me feel at [someone's] home. We were given QR codes to scan for the menu; not my favorite. I overheard another table ask for paper menus, so it appears there is that option. For a starter, we ordered handmade lamb dumplings and for entrees, original meefen and lamb on dry land with a side of white rice. It all ended up coming out around the same time and the tables are a little small so it felt like an overwhelming amount of food, but it was actually the perfect amount for two people. The lamb dumplings were flavorful, albeit, the wrappers were a tad too soft. The original meefen was very tasty, especially the minced meat. However, the uden noodles don't do a great job of absorbing sauces, so it felt like a lot of the oils and flavor were left behind. The lamb on dry land was good, but it was difficult to eat especially two people. We didn't realize it would be meat on a stick, similar to a turkey leg but less meaty. We ended up eating the easy parts, but took the bone home to finish out of the public eye. The crispy potatoes on top were my friend's favorite. The total was about $50 which was fair. Our waiter and other staff members did an excellent job of getting us all we needed and clearing plates as we finished. Their official website is one of the coolest I have seen since it includes audio and images, but I wish it had a description of what each item is, just like their in restaurant menu QR code.
