Cute little spot. Went at about 11:15 and was the second person in there. They will get crowded as it gets closer to 12. Food was good. I had the fried squid, miso ramen w/ pork and strawberry mochi ice cream off the NYC Restaurant Week menu.

This is the Yama Omakase Nigiri. Places have to stop using the omakase word so losely. It's $29, you get 8 pieces of nigiri a choice of a roll (I went with yellowtail jalapeño) and miso soup. And the delivery was slooooowwww, it took about an hour to go a little more than a mile they don't do their own delivery. This was fine. Yellowtail roll was the best part my far, the tuna, look at the texture, not elite. But for $29, take the omakase word out of this. It's not bad, pieces are pretty small though. Wasn't a great experience but at this cost you have to expect what you expect

This is like my third time coming back to this place. My girlfriends treated my Mom and I to a birthday celebration. It was their first time eating here. The service is great, the decor is amazing, and the food is delicious. I need to order off of the restaurant week menu next time so I can get a dessert. I'm a major dessert fan. I'll be back for more!

Stopped by for a pre-show meal. Shared a ramen and the chirashi, a couple of rolls and gyoza since they were part of the happy hour menu. Portions were okay, not too heavy. The cubes of tuna were an interesting choice but I guess it matched the size/shape of the tamago. The ramen components were cooked well and the broth was pretty good. Not the richest flavor, but not too salty either.

Yama Ramen is a cozy, intimate, yet classy little ramen shop by Rockefeller Center. I stopped by with friends without a reservation after viewing the Christmas tree in the area to grab something warm and brothy to eat. There are separate tables at Yama Ramen, but everyone is quite close to each other so there's an intimate feel - however, it did feel like a more high-end restaurant compared to a daily ramen place. The service was fantastic - the waiters and waitresses were helpful at explaining different parts of the menu and were extremely patient. As for the food, I thought it was the most flavorful and perfect ramen for a cold winter day. The spice, the warmth, and the richness of the broth itself balanced out perfectly, and the meat was cooked to perfection. I've added Yama Ramen to one of the places I wanted to visit again because I thought the ramen was so well priced!

Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box + $5 extra for the yellowtail scallion roll ($25)
    Risa H.

I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box with a Yellowtail Scallion roll for $25 and it was one of the saddest meals I've had. The portions were very slim - the chicken teriyaki seemed to be 1/4th of a chicken breast sliced so it was thin and the size of my palm - the broccoli piece was even cut into 1/4ths. The salad was soggy from the dressing and the yellowtail seemed a bit fishy. For $25 this place isn't a good value and the food quality isn't there either.

The food was excellent. The service was quick and responsive, and despite the 40-degree chill and howling wind outside, the ambience was out of this world--it transported me straight to Japan, with its cozy, quaint charm.

The food is generally around 6/10, depending on the dish. Nothing extraordinary. The staff was okay, though they were a bit pushy about the time although they weren't closing and didn't have many customers. The ambiance is nice, but the furniture and seating could be more comfortable. Some pillows would be beneficial.

The food is fine, nothing special but not bad either. Tourists like coming here since it's close to Times Square. I was in the area running errands and wanted a casual ramen spot. They have happy hour deals even on the weekend. We walked in for Saturday lunch. I got a small carafe of hot sake for $7. I tried the kimchi ramen and chicken katsu bun. Both were fine.

Here for restaurant week, the staffs are friendly. The restaurant is located in the second floor. The lunch or dinner is $30 per person for the ramen or you can order the sushi for $45. We reserved via Open Table however, they took us right in and seated us even though we came in early. For appetizer: - Yama Wings: their fried wings with soy and sesame pepper are very crispy and delicious. - Lka Karage: their deep fried squid comes with spicy mayo to dip is also very crispy, tastes like calamari. For ramen: - Shoyu Ramen: their broth is rich also tasted sweet, would recommend getting their Shoyu Ramen. It also comes with corn. - Tonkotsu Ramen: their broth is a little on the saltier side but also very delicious. For desserts: - Two matcha mochi ice cream per person Would recommend eating here!

One of those lucky accidents. Easy to walk past if you're not looking for it. The entrance is subtle, almost like a hallway leading you somewhere. But once you're inside, the vibe is genuinely good. Not trying too hard, just comfortable and cool. I had a couple cocktails while I was there. They have a solid bar program and everything I tried landed. Then I got the Spicy Tan Tan and it was exactly what I wanted. The broth was the star. Deep, rich, and had just the right kick without going overboard. I finished every last drop, which honestly says it all. This is the kind of place you go back to. Already thinking about when I'll be back in New York.

The Hiyashi Chuka (cold noodle dish) was decent, about 3 stars. The Tebasaki spicy wings were crispy and coated with just the right amount of spicy powder and sauce. The fried cod buns were delicious, especially with the flavorful sauce. The eel rice ball was okay, but it was a fun touch that it came with a fortune card underneath to help keep the seaweed crispy. The highlight was the mango shaved ice bowl--it was absolutely delicious and perfect for a hot summer day in NYC. This is a great spot for drinks, finger foods, or ramen with friends in the area. One friendly reminder: the restaurant requires everyone from your party to be present before seating. They will not seat incomplete parties.

I have a shrimp allergy and politely asked if the shrimp tempura could be substituted. The server immediately said no, without offering any alternative or showing much concern. He said I can remove it myself. I said so let the shrimp inside the bowl for me to remove? WTH. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short. The smashed cucumber was good. Spicy dumpling was good. Ramen broth was light, not as rich or flavorful as others. There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.

The regular size ramen was plenty, but don't let that stop you from trying the decadent Mega with all of the toppings.
