Very attentive and friendly. Everyone working had visited our table either to take our order, fill our drinks and clear out plates. We always take our time when we eat sushi, we typically order a kani salad first and then a few rolls. On this occasion we had the spicy kani salad it was very tasty, if you like a kani salad with lots of crab it had plenty. I was almost missing the cucumbers but my boyfriend loved the ration of crab to cucumber. The peppered tuna was served with a sweeter ponzu sauce that we both liked. Typically we don't get dessert but we ordered a chestnut cake. It was very tasty but I was still craving something so I ordered my go to , a taro tea. My son in law has been eager to try this place so I ordered 4 rolls take out on Saturday . Considering the recommendations from a few locals and the outstanding reviews , we were not expecting to be so highly disappointed. We threw the majority of one roll into the trash . It was terrible ! $70 for 4 rolls in two very small containers to boot . 8-10 pieces per roll and they were very tiny rolls compared to any sushi I've ever had elsewhere . The fish was not fresh in our opinion , much like that of fish that sits around for awhile . I think he summed it up with his statement quite well when he called it "gas station sushi". Sorry to say that I would not recommend their sushi to anyone . I am not a hard one to please when it comes to food so that should tell you something. read more

This is the best sushi restaurant in the area and I have been to most of them. The whole experience was 5 stars . First off, it is BYOB! I love that part and it's not a secret or anything . It's on the menu so no confusion. Next, the food is so fresh. I had the Titan roll and the Simple Angel roll. These are super spicy but very good. The Titan was a new special. My boyfriend has the Man in Black and Green Sleeve. He said they were great the man in black has spider which was nice change of pace. The service was the best part. They are so polite and consistently checking on us. Nothing to overwhelming ! It was a very great experience. Fantastic little Japanese place in Mars that I never would've gone to had my friends not invited me to lunch there. Was not too far off the beaten path, just off 228. Hidden in a nice little plaza, it's classy and slightly upscale inside, and it was pretty empty at 1:15. Got a booth and waited for my friends to filter in, asked the server a couple questions about the sushi, which he answered well. We ordered from the lunch menu, which came out to less than $15 per entree-$10 for Cece's chicken fried rice, $12 for both mine and Levi's three rolls apiece, and $8 for Becca's two rolls. All of these included either soup or salad. Once ordering, we waited about 10 minutes or less for our sushi and my girlfriend's fried rice. While we were waiting, Levi, and the server almost instantly got a stack of napkins and a rag over to wipe it all up. He was a great guy-cracking jokes, friendly. Even the busboy who came out was just as amiable! I ordered the shrimp avocado, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon rolls, with masago on the first. Didn't realize I'd fill up on the salad, I actually still had 6 of the 18 pieces left! Nice flavor, although I usually don't have raw tuna and salmon, so I think it's naturally not too flavorful unless marinated in something. I wish I'd gotten his name, because our server was fantastic. I'll be coming back to this place soon! Thanks for a great experience! I strongly recommend this place for the lunch menu. This is a great spot for sushi in Cranberry! It is super close to my office, so it is an easy choice when in the mood for sushi or hibachi. It is usually pretty low key in the afternoon, which is so nice. The staff is always super friendly, and honestly, they play the best early 2000 jams. This was our first visit and it was New Years Eve. There weren't a lot of people, but people came and went. Sit down diners as well as take out. The customer service was fantastic. My husband and son had sushi, which looked 'pretty', if you like sushi. I had the lunch shrimp hibachi. It was plenty of food and very tasty. The shrimp were overdone, but still good. The only negative was that my son did have a large piece of plastic wrap left on one of his pieces of sushi. The plastic wrap was from the fish that is in full view to patrons. The waiter was VERY apologetic, but did not remove any charges from the bill. Please not that if you are not a water or iced tea drinker, the pop is sold by the can. The restaurant was very clean and organized. The sushi is prepared in front of the guests at their sushi counter, which is a plus! Will visit again! read more

I have eaten at this restaurant countless times, and I have never had a bad experience. The waitstaff is pleasant and prompt, and they've yet to recommend me a dish I haven't liked. The sushi is delicious and fresh. I tend to stick with the classics and I've had the salmon, tuna, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, yellowtail scallion, California, and a few specialty rolls. All have been fantastic! In terms of other fair, the miso soup is outstanding. The fried rice is relatively cheap and is a very large portion (I'm a heavy eater and I've never finished it). The hibachi is average, and is cheap around lunch time. If you're a fan of stir fry or noodles, you MUST have the yaki udon! Those sensitive to gluten could try the teriyaki entrees. My friend always orders the charred teriyaki salmon, which comes with small portions of various sides in addition to rice. He's a picky eater, and even he loved it! Though I can normally find some fault in every restaurant, I fail to do so with Yama Sushi. It is a wonderful little spot with amazing food and service. read more

Their prices are fair and not too expensive and they have food that ranges from noodle dishes to special rolls and authentic desserts. The price is also cheaper than other sushi places in the area and still good portions. I tried their udon soup last winter. It was a huge portion and pretty tasty, too. My fiance and I definitely frequent this place for the food, but I do agree with other reviews that the service can be improved. Last night, our server was MIA for about 15 mins as in he was not around at all. My fiance asked for a glass of water before he disappeared. If you're cravin' solid japanese food in Cranberry, Yama's a nice place to hit up. Talk about bang for your buck! Their lunch specials are tasty and mad affordable. I came here earlier today with my mom, and we both got bentos. I ordered the Shrimp Teriyaki ($11), and she got the Tonkatsu ($10). FYI: portions here are HUGE! They give you SO much food: a california roll (6), side of edamame, shumai (2), rice (duh), and miso soup (or salad). The main dishes were good overall. I wasn't crazy about the teriyaki sauce (too sweet for me), but they did give me five jumbo-sized pieces of shrimp so PROPS! I actually liked my mom's tonkatsu more. ANYWHO, I wouldn't come here for dinner (overpriced in my opinion), but I'll definitely be back for lunch! I've read some bad reviews about service, but I've never had a problem! On a Sunday night, didn't feel like cooking, wanted to eat sushi, but didn't feel like driving all the way to the city, so therefore we ordered in from Yama Sushi. We ordered the sashimi for two, which came with 17 different varieties and 66 pieces! It even came with Uni! I couldn't believe it! Honestly, I did not go in with many expectations. It was 8:30pm on Friday, and let's just say, a LOT of restaurants at that hour deliver less than ideal service and food. Either way, after house hunting and even having the opportunity to be in the area, I was excited nonetheless. We walk in, are seated, a server took our drinks, quickly brought them and then we ordered appetizers. We actually were ready to go ahead and order the rest of our food, but he left before we had the chance. He came back later to take our order. I got to admit, service was REALLY fast! I'm unsure if it's even mentioned in reviews, but I am really astonished at the speed our appetizers came-less than 10 minutes! We got the takoyaki and tempura. I never had takoyaki before so I can't really compare what I had here, however, it was served hot, crispy on the outside, and had a seafood/tako mix with mayo. It was interesting for sure. The tempura, on the other hand, came with a variety of vegetables and two shrimp. There was sweet potato, zucchini, and broccoli. It's rare for me to say this, but the broccoli tempura was made to perfection. Plenty of restaurants tend to leave the center uncooked. The other tempura were fantastic. At this point, my hopes were up for a delightful experience. The server was extremely nice! He checked up on us to see if we liked the appetizers, and when we finished them, cleared the plates and immediately brought our sushi. How kind! The sushi was all presented BEAUTIFULLY, on a boat! This was a first for me, as most sushi places tend to keep their boat only for the sushi boat orders. I was so delighted to see this, along with each roll beautifully arranged. Now, plenty of sushi places let their rolls sit for a long time, making any tempura soggy and unpalatable. However, this was NOT the case here! Each roll had it's own flavor, with the tempura being just right. Not only that, but the rice ratio was well done. The men in black roll was my favorite roll with tempura, however, the pearl roll is very notable, as it was garnished with ikura and had a rich taste. Also, this establishment has pressed sushi! It's called the Osaka Sushi Box on the menu, I would recommend it! Regardless, the other rolls, the Incredible roll and Spicy Dynamite roll were great! The server was really kind, tended to all patrons and was a delight to have. Props to this place, I will return as soon as I can. read more
