First off, we just found out about this location and they have been here for 2+ years. Located in a busy shopping center, parking was plentiful however there were alot of people driving too fast for being a parking lot with pedestrians. So look both ways at least 2-3 times!!! Secondly, we walked in and the space is nicely appointed and very clean. The floors were not greasy at all. We were greeted and seated promptly which was nice even though it was still early. We also found that they will take reservations too which can be helpful especially for dinner. There are 2 menu options: A & B. Both are AYCE Sushi, Korean BBQ and Hot Pot. However, there are specific items for the B menu option in the green box which you can get 1 per person. We went with B option to try it out However we would be happy with the plentiful options on the A menu. Next the food was good and we may have ordered too many appetizers. The Chicken Wings - yum! Nigiri another fave however the rice to fish ration was slightly more than at other sushi places and the rice was a bit off for me. The Hamachi and Salmon collars were delicious. Batter on Shrimp Tempura was a bit heavy. Korean pancakes were okay. Bulgogi Animal Style was good too. As for the sushi, they can do half rolls and my spouse liked his Alaska Roll. Beef Nigiri was my favorite alongside the Mackerel Nigiri. The Tako Wasabi was not. We also liked the Banchan station which had cucumber Kimchee, Napa kimchee, radish wraps, lettuce, tortillas, macaroni salad, coleslaw, korean pickles, sauces, and one other item. Not bad choices. Meat wise: L.A. short ribs was marinated well and very meaty - a definite plus! Boneless Short Rib, Marinated Short Rib and the Soy Garlic Beef Brisket were our faves. The beef brisket and ribeye was good too. The spicy pork belly was not what I expected as it was more of a thinly cut pork steak but the spicy marinade definitely was there and it had a nice kick if you are not ready for it. Finally, desert. Green Tea Mochi and Oreo Tempura. I have to say that the Oreo Tempura was to icing on the cake here! It was so good that we contemplated ordering one more before leaving! We found ourselves constantly having to flag someone down and remind them of what we were still missing just to get our basic items delivered to the table. It makes for a very exhausting dining experience when you have to manage your own ticket from the table. ​It's a shame because the kitchen is actually doing a good job. Yama Sushi is my new favorite place to go for Korean BBQ. The price for option A is $32.95 and for option B is $35.95. We selected option A and it included AYCE sushi, hot pot AND Korean BBQ. You also get a dessert we chose the melons popsicle. They have strawberry, melon, mango, banana and pistachio. The service was really good. They take your order right away and the food is out quick. It wasn't hot enough and took forever to cook the meat. The plates were never cleared . Drinks were only refilled when I again flagged down a waiter . The rolls were served , over sauced . With more rice than fish. The Oreo tempura was soggy And difficult to finish. For the price point I expected more attentive staff and friendlier service . This place is just okay. Yama used to be one of my favorite restaurants in China town. All the outlying locations like the southwest and this location fall flat. The sushi was no good and not up to the Yama standard you expect. You can tell everything was prepped too far in advance which caused the rice to be stiff and the shrimp tempura inside to be mushy. The sauces were also not made well and the spicy mayo tasted too sweet somehow. The korean bbq and hot pot was okay. They certainly do that better than sushi at this location. However, there are way better korean bbq options out there. I do not think this place is worth going out of the way for but may be an okay option if you live close. read more

The location is prime if you want to avoid Chinatown and you're in the north side. The Korean beef bone broth was TOP TIER! We came here because we heard it was a 3 in one and we love Yama Sushi but it didn't fulfill what we went for. We were greeted and seating was fast no wait which was a positive. We ordered appetizers, sushi, what we wanted in hot pot (meats) and meats for Korean bbq. I would say for sure don't get shrimp nor veggie tempura it was so thick and tasted like pancakes since I'm sure they used pancake batter. Also for the meats for Korean bbq the short ribs were very tough and veigny. The best was the brisket and spicy pork. Wish they had more options at the bar for toppings but was only a few. Lastly the sashimi was super thick cut for being salmon but it was as fresh. For the hot pot everything comes in the bowl already which we didn't like since we usually pick our toppings to put in the bowl but gave them 3 stars because there was a few good quality items. We both thought some things were better than other things. The BBQ Beef Bulgogi was very good. It was very tender and infused with good flavors. I enjoyed it with radish slices from the food bar. The chicken karaage was delicious and very good. The seared salmon seemed better than the salmon kama and most of the sushi to me. My husband also enjoyed the pork gyoza very much. He said that it was very good. The vegetable tempura was tasty. My least favorite thing I tried was the TNT Sushi Roll. For my taste it was very over seasoned with way too many seasonings. We been here many times but today our hostess YADIRA either woke up on the wrong side of the bed or she has a nasty attitude with customers. We had a relative stop by to reserve our table we where a party of 14 when asked party of how many our relative said 14 and she laughed and said are you serious like if it was a joke. Very unprofessional. Once the whole party was there she still has a shit face on her like if she didn't want to sit us. We sat our waiter which somehow we always get is amazing I always forget his name but he's Dominican he's the best I swear always makes you feel welcome. Towards the end once we had paid our tab our bill was reasonable 450 for 14 people not bad. The hostess again walks up to the supervisor and she stated we have lost customers because this party meaning us is still sitting down and looks at me this whole time she's talking to the supervisor I'm looking at her cause I already have a bad taste in my mouth with her service. We lock eyes and she sighs me and continues to talk shit to her supervisor about us. This person shouldn't be working in any customer service cause her attitude is shit.
