Everything is so good here!!! If you are looking for authentic matcha, this is the place! They have drinks to desserts! I wish there was a location in Northern CA! The next time I am in town, I need to come back and try other items at this store. I hope to come back again someday! Service was excellent!
Before visiting, I've been wanting to go to this place for a while. And until I got close I didn't realize it's located in the food court of the Mitzuwa market. It took me a while to get in the area so I actually got here right at closing. The kind folks here still allowed me to order, even though it was right at closing. I went with the Koicha Einspanner and not only was it aesthetically pleasing, but it was refreshing and showcased the flavor of their matcha. The place and vibe here was chill. Pretty much how it is at any Japanese market food court if you've been.
If you're into desserts that aren't too sweet, the matcha soft serve here is perfect for you. The matcha soft serve itself was creamy and smooth. The matcha flavor was bitter, but in a good way. It was earthy and not too weak which I liked. It was also super aesthetic with the chocolate square which provided a nice and sweet contrast to the bitter matcha. Definitely a high quality dessert. This spot is located inside the Mitsuwa marketplace food court area with parking outside shared with the Del Amo mall. It can get pretty packed in the area. I would get the soft serve here again, but I am a bit skeptical about getting the drinks here. That's because the matcha drinks look super diluted based on the color.
Located in the Mitsuwa marketplace. There was a small line when we went but service is quick. If you enjoy strong, authentic matcha, this is the place to try. High quality matcha for the price you're paying! Not only do they have drinks but also soft serve. I went with the strong uji Matcha Green Tea (without any diary/non diary options) and enjoyed the matcha taste with the hint of sweetness. 10/10. Will definitely be coming back for more!
Yamato absolutely deserves five stars. This place is a gem, and the matcha alone is worth the visit. Hands down the best matcha I have ever had. It is rich, smooth, perfectly balanced, and tastes incredibly high quality without being bitter or overly sweet. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared and authentic, and the atmosphere is calm and inviting. You can really tell care goes into what they serve, especially when it comes to their matcha. If you love matcha or are even just curious about trying a truly excellent one, Yamato is a must visit. I will absolutely be coming back just for that matcha alone.

Ujicha will be the most intense matcha experience you will encounter (and the addition of the shirataki (mochi balls) and anko (red bean) complete the experience. Tamari's service staff is friendly, youthful and customer-focused. An order and take-away sharing the large food court seating allows you to add this and that to your meal from many different sources, including Mitsuwa Market itself. Yamari has some purest form of matcha soft-serve of the many different places in So Cal, and has less sweetness than most others allowing the high-grade matcha powder used to shine through, even in the Premium parfaits. Wish they had a take home pint available, but until then it's a great option inside this varied food court. And... parking is often a waiting match at this end of the mall.
If you're looking for good quality, ceremonial-grade matcha goodies, Yamari Matcha is one of our go-tos. Located inside the Mistuwa Marketplace (convenient when running errands), service is quick and easy on a weekday. Weekends are a little tricky especially when there's a line. But overall it's an easy order, grab and go for a food court. Best eaten after a yummy tempura bowl ( or plate, depending on how hungry you are) over at Carlos Tempura.
Yamari is one of those places we will always stop by whenever we're in the area. It's become a must for us. The matcha here is freshly whisked and consistently excellent. You can taste the care and technique in every cup--nothing rushed, nothing diluted. This is matcha (and hojicha) for people who genuinely enjoy nuance, depth, and the natural flavor of tea. It's unsweetened and unapologetically so, which we really appreciate. If you're used to overly sweetened drinks, this may not be for you--but if you love true tea character, this place delivers. Consistency is another big reason we keep coming back. Every visit tastes just as good as the last, which says a lot. The ambiance is simple but charming. It feels like a small Japanese stall tucked inside a supermarket--casual, cozy, and authentic. You're still very much in a market setting, but that's part of the appeal and adds to the experience rather than taking away from it. Yamari is a gem for anyone who values well-made, traditional matcha and hojicha. No frills, no excessive sweetness--just excellent tea done right.
It was a toss up between getting the matcha soft serve or matcha drink. I had a feeling the soft serve would be the better option but since we were about to leave, a drink was more convenient. I heard Yamari had great matcha so I had high hopes. The matcha latte I got was average- sure, not powdery but not super smooth. It was not overly sweet, maintained some of the matcha bitterness so that was nice. But for what it was and the price, I didn't feel it was worth it because it wasn't too far off from what I could make at home. I was disappointed with the drink. Fret not, I am still willing to come back to try the soft serve one day.. and what's the difference between the matcha latte and matcha au lait?
This is Matcha! Comparing Yamari to all the other places I've orderd my Matcha at, I'm so much more satisfied with the quality here than anywhere else. The service was okay. The workers were wearing masks so it was hard to read their expressions. The person who took my order did make eye contact. There are plenty of places to sit though it does get loud because the space is open to the Mitsuwa grocery store and all the other food vendors.

One of the best tasting matchas I've had! The matcha flavor was very strong but it balanced out perfectly with the sweet cream top. Service was good and quick. The kiosk is located inside the mitsuwa in the food court area. It's a very small and cute stall. It's a great spot to get a pick me up. There's lots of parking as it is located at del amo mall. Pricing is reasonable since it is quality matcha you are getting. I will be coming back soon. read more
If you're a matcha lover, Yamari is must dessert shop located inside the Mitsuwa Market food court. The must try is the mixed parfait: matcha and hojicha soft serve, Hokkaido azuki (sweet red bean), Shiratama (mochi balls), matcha jelly & matcha syrup. Soft serve isn't too sweet, however, when consumed with the other ingredients, provides a good balance of a slightly sweet dessert. My favorite ingredient is the matcha jelly located in the bottom of the cup. Matcha soft serve has a strong flavor which surprised me. Hojicha soft serve has that roasted, toasty, nutty, chocolate like flavor. A lot stronger flavor than the Little Tokyo matcha shops which are a bit sweeter. located inside mitsuwa, you'll find yamari in a small stand. came with a friend who recommended this spot to me and i must say i was satisfied. i will say, it is a standard matcha latte so it's nothing too crazy but it is good. they do have matcha soft serves and combined flavors with matcha like mango and strawberry. i got the iced matcha with oat milk and made it sweet. do not let the sweetener fool you because honestly it does not make it sweet at all which is why it's very good. other places make it too sweet if they add sweetener however here, you get the authentic matcha flavor. read more
We were craving desserts and stopped by this matcha shop located inside the Mitsuwa Market food court. It's a very popular, busy spot with a long line. Luckily we arrived at a good time and didn't have to wait too long. We ordered the Strong Uji Matcha Green Tea & Premium Matcha Soft Serve. It was a really premium tasting matcha tea. Even though it was an iced tea, it didn't tasted watered down and wasn't grainy. The soft serve was jammed packed with matcha flavor, especially with the matcha sauce on top. It came with unsweetened red bean paste, 2 rice balls (no fillings), and a square chocolate. All of the toppings accentuated the matcha soft serve. It definitely satisfied our dessert craving. The matcha here is hands down the best I've had in LA and OC. The matcha latte was so flavorful--strong, balanced, and just sweet enough--that even after the ice melted, it still tasted great. The price seems a bit high for the small medium size, but the quality of the matcha makes it worth it. The matcha parfait had an even stronger matcha kick, though the matcha jelly at the bottom was a letdown--it was too stiff and lacked flavor. I'd recommend the premium soft serve instead. I was excited to try this matcha spot, and after paying almost $9 for the matcha einspanner I had high hopes! However, after taking my first sip I noticed that there were still tons and tons of unwhisked clumps of matcha powder in the drink. (as you can see pictured) There was a huge clump of powder in every sip of the drink that I took, which wasn't very pleasant. This was really disappointing, and maybe it was because we came on a busy Sunday afternoon at around 2pm? But still.. However, matcha is creamy though and that was a plus! But I definitely don't think I will be coming back here because, given the price, I think the matcha should be well whisked and more potent. read more

saw that this place had good reviews and had to check it out! from the pics, this place looks like a really solid matcha spot so I was excited it's located in the food court area of mitsuwa and the storefront is quite small - I almost missed it. they had multiple menus (one w pictures and one w/o) and also specials and other drinks not on the menu that were scattered around. this was a bit confusing and I wish they had them all in one place. I saw the specials poster after ordering and didn't feel like getting back in line to order. my friend and I got the matcha fruit latte mango & matcha fruit latte strawberry. they only had a M or L size option so we got the M, but when the drinks came out, they were so tiny (see pic for reference). I thought if it was good it'd be worth it but it really wasn't. both matcha lattes were very lackluster and bland. some sweetener could've helped, but the matcha taste was also not strong at all. I thought the fruit purée at the bottom would offer some sweetness to the drink, but it didn't do much. it was honestly hard to finish it and I was extremely disappointed to go all that way for this. I usually don't believe in paying for a matcha drink because you usually can make it better at home 90% of the time. But this matcha latte?!?!? She's perfect!! I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk (sweetened). It had the perfect ratio of matcha, milk, and sweetener. It was not too sweet and well balanced. Service was so fast that the girl working on drinks passed my drink to me after I finished ordering. i went again to yamari and had to get the soft serve because it was so life changing. still the same great quality matcha!! a super strong and rich matcha flavor and very much worth it. they ran out of the matcha drizzle this time but it was still amazing without it! the cashier was polite and nice! and the seating area was a bit hectic. People raved about this place having one of the best matcha in the LA area so my friends and I were excited. However, we left kinda disappointed :'( This matcha shop is located inside the Mitsuwa supermarket, so parking was not bad since there is a pretty big parking lot. We went close to 2pm and it was not busy. Matcha latte ($6.95) - we got it with sugar on the side. We could taste the matcha and the latte is smoother than the einspanner. However, we felt the milk overpowered the matcha, and overall a little gritty. Koicha einspanner ($7.75) - matcha latte with sweet cream on top. The cream added a nice sweetness, the overall drink was the right amount of sweetness. However, the drink itself felt gritty. For my own preference, the matcha was not strong enough. If I were in the area, I would consider trying the soft serve as it looks super green. However, it was not worth driving to Torrance just for the drinks imo. read more

First time at Yamari and the matcha flavor was intense, very forward, and not subtle at all in a good way! If you're looking for a deep rich matcha forward flavor then this is the place to go. The matcha float had much more matcha soft serve than any other matcha float I've gotten at any other matcha shop. The einspanner was actually much sweeter than the float in case you are looking for something more sweet. The store is located in the food court area of the Mitsuwa so it can get quite busy but we came during a weekday which was not too busy. We will definitely back to try there other matcha items and likely buy some matcha powder. read more
This place has always shown up in my suggested when looking for desserts when there's the rare chance that I'm in the area or randomly on Instagram and it's always caught my eye as a matcha enjoyer. It's located in the Mitsuwa food court and it's a small store front. There was consistently a short line there and already in the later afternoon on Sunday they were sold out of their premium parfait, so I just got the premium soft serve in a cup. This comes with a chocolate square and some matcha sauce on top. It's a DEEP rich matcha flavor. Not super sweet at all and it's very dense. No icy wateriness that some other soft serve has sometime. If you have more of a sweet tooth or already aren't that fond of matcha, this might not be the dessert for you. But, all of us really enjoyed the high quality matcha taste, the earthiness of it and how it balanced out with the sweetness of the chocolate. A must stop if you love matcha! read more

I can't believe it's taken me so long to try this place. I got the matcha soft serve, and this is the real deal! It actually tasted like matcha, crisp, refreshing, slightly bitter, and not too sweet. The small piece of chocolate adds a little bit of sweetness, but it really doesn't need it. I would have liked to try the hojicha but they said they will no longer be offering it :( (it was still on the menu as of Aug 2024). Located in Mitsuwa market food court, Yamari specializes in matcha products. They have a variety of beverages and a matcha soft serve product. Since I was looking for something more refreshing after a long day of adventures, I decided to get one of their drinks. I opted for a large iced Strong Uji Matcha Green Tea ($6.25). I say large cause that's their large but the drink was pretty standard size for a "large". Service was straight forward and quick enough. No frills. Which is fine. I really enjoyed how potent and strong in matcha this drink was. Super refreshing and energizing. A bit overpriced, but I would try it again. Next time I also want to try their soft serves. read more

Stopped by on Saturday, 10/28/23 for the first time. Located inside the Mitsuwa marketplace. I ordered: - 1 Matcha Soft Serve (cup) = $6.75 OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! THIS IS PURELY, AUTHENTIC AND PREMIUM MATCHA - THE REAL DEAL! I am a huge matcha fan and can confidently say that this is one of the best matchas ever! Not too sweet and a slight bitter taste due to the authenticity of the matcha flavor. The menu makes me wanna order every single thing. Like other reviews, I agree that the matcha here is strong. It's definitely not a dessert type of matcha that you would expect from a place like Matcha Love - if you know, you know. Avoid if you are craving that type of sweetness! When I came on a Sunday evening ~3pm the parfait was already sold out. I was eager to try this spot since there was high praise for their matcha. I went for the premium mixed soft serve since their parfait was sold out and the classic iced matcha latte. If you're used to matcha being sweet, you're in for a treat. This matcha is a PURE matcha flavor. No sugar added. The soft serve was a little too strong for me but the mocha and azuki did help tone down the potent flavor. The iced latte is more bearable, but again, not sweet at all. I'm used to matcha with some added sweetness, so this was not my cup of tea. Again, take my review with a grain of salt. If you love pure matcha, come and try it! read more

I tried Yamari for the first time yesterday, Sat 8/3/2024 at around 3:15 PM since my friend (who's picky about her matcha) wanted to stop by! Large Matcha au Lait (Iced): $6.75 (price as of 8/2024) - So I'm also a little picky about my matcha too haha. After purchasing Ippodo matcha from Japan and making matcha myself, it's hard for me to purchase the drinks knowing that I can customize the amount of matcha in my own home (and saving a couple bucks). However, this drink did not disappoint! It was a beautiful, deeper green color and the flavor was not bland at all. The matcha au lait is slightly sweetened (just the right amount of sweetness!) and the matcha is not bitter. They also don't put too much ice so it's not watered down. I didn't experience any dryness from the matcha but it was a little bit grainy (also noted by my friend and hubby). I thoroughly enjoyed my drink and would def come back for more to try various matcha items from their menu. Customer Service: Honestly, this is what dropped my review from a 5 stars to 4 stars. I had to study the menu beforehand so when I came by, I already knew exactly what I wanted. I figured, this transaction will be short and sweet. The guy who helped me was unenthusiastic, monotone, and overall not courteous. No greeting when I first stopped by, no thank you when I left. He had a mask on but you just know there was no smile under that mask lol. He took my order, but when they were done making it, he placed it on the side but could not put in the extra effort to simply let me know that was my drink. I took some pics while I was waiting (for Yelp hehe), waited a little longer and then realized that drink was mine. I literally had to walk around, wait on the side to ask him if it was mine. It's a pet peeve of mine when people don't notify you when your order is ready. It's not really a big ask but more simple courtesy. I'm sorry but this rubbed me the wrong way, not the friendly customer service you'd typically expect from a Japanese establishment. Overall, I'd come back for the tasty matcha but my expectations for customer service are shot.. Not impressed with that! read more

I just got the most basic drink which was their iced sweetened matcha. It was so rich in flavor and amazing. Sweetness was also perfect! It's the kind of place you stumble upon, not find--a quiet reverie amid grocery aisles and clinking trays. On Thanksgiving, the crowd softened to a hum, giving us space to sit with our drinks and let their stories unfold. The Hojicha Latte was a whisper, not a shout--roasty and grounded, the sweetness held back like a thought unspoken. I wasn't used to it, not entirely, but there was something honest in its restraint. Creaminess would have been a welcome hand to hold, but even without it, the drink had its own kind of clarity. For those who prefer their lattes unsweetened and austere, this one speaks your language. Then, the premium matcha--a $16 poem in green. Strong, umami-rich, unapologetic. It's not an everyday indulgence, but its boldness commands respect. This drink doesn't ask to be liked; it asks to be understood. For a first try, it's an experience worth the cost--once in a while, we owe ourselves that kind of luxury. The Einspanner was my favorite. A layer of cream, bitter matcha below. The bite of the blend felt raw, alive, like it was still carrying the mountain air where it grew. A colder whisk might smooth its edges, but even as it stood, it jolted me awake--sharp, bracing, caffeinated. This was matcha that didn't compromise, and I respected it for that. The service was fine, as you'd expect from a food court. Yamari doesn't scream for attention. It's not trendy or loud, and yet it lingers in your mind long after you've left. It's really hard to find legit ceremonial grade Uji matcha these days with lots of boba shops adding it to their menu, so it's nice to see an authentic Japanese matcha shop that uses high quality tea. The matcha flavor really comes through in their drinks and desserts but I'm just a bit bummed they discontinued their hojicha soft serve. read more

Good drink. The strawberry was light and natural and blended smoothly with the matcha. I liked that it wasn't too sweet and felt clean and balanced. The matcha comes from a slurpee style machine which was unique. Quaint little spot with a calm vibe and solid service. Worth a try if you're in the area. read more
Wow, the iced matcha drink w/ milk from here is soooo delicious. Yamari is located inside Mitsuwa in the food court area. I went mid day and it wasn't busy at all, so I was able to order and get my drink within a couple of minutes. I would highly recommend trying this out especially on a hot day.
