Heard great reviews between food, and ambiance. Had dinner there last night: angry dragon; and fire dragon. The rice on the roll was like paste. Couldn't decipher any grain of rice as the whole thing was paste. The service and the front desk was absolutely accommodating and engaging. Very good service. It would have been better if the food was good. Either it was an off night; or they are still getting their rhythm going; or perhaps that's just the way they serve it and customers like it. I didn't care for pastey rice . Good addition to the neighborhood - just not going to be a choice for me. Wishing them luck . read more

We visited last night for my daughter's birthday. I was lucky enough to speak to Bennie, the owner, when I made reservations so they were prepared. As always, the service was superb. We are not quite regulars, but we go frequently enough to have our apps ready to order and go right to the saki order. Our server made a few recommendations on saki and she was spot on. Bennie also was kind enough to have the chef prepare a little gift for my daughter. We also took the advice of our server on three rolls, all of which were fabulous. We had a wonderful night, thanks Yamasaki team and we look forward to returning soon. read more

This restaurant is beautifully appointed and even has a separate room that can accommodate over 20 people. The staff is very professional and attentive. The food is AMAZING in taste and portions and always a beautiful presentation. There are always great happy hour specials in food and beverage (3-6 pm) and a separate bar and outside dining. The food is great! We have gone in to eat many times here and we have tried a variety of food options. Everything is good. I know it might sound silly but my favorite this was the tofu vegetable teriyaki. The vegetables yet so simple are tasty and done well every time. The "Lunch Box", with Miso Soup, Ginger Salad, Shrimp Teriyaki, Baby Back Rib and Pork Gyoza was certainly generous and every bite, delicious. Came here for a birthday dinner with a group of 12 closer to the soft launch. Could not have been more impressed by the food, ambiance, and most importantly the service. Little rice is used in their rolls as they want you to savor the taste of their fresh seafood that has been flown in. The omakase is the BEST that you can find in the area. Any military personnel or residents that have traveled to Japan will find their delightful dishes just as authentic. Just went to Yamasaki in Atlantic Beach. It was great! Very nice decor, great service. They have vegan gyoza, and the spring rolls are vegan. The spring rolls come with a delicious vegan sauce - I kept it for my veggies, so good! They have several vegan sushi rolls, but I didn't try them. I had the tofu teriyaki- the tofu was soft inside, crispy outside- doesn't sound great, but it was! Served with nicely smoky veggies and a side of teriyaki sauce. I had steamed rice, but the owner (i think) said they can veganize the fried rice. My husband shared the appetizers and liked them very much, and had the teriyaki salmon with fried rice - he said the salmon was done perfectly, and he loved the fried rice. The entrees had plenty of food. The owner came by twice to make sure we enjoyed the food. He was very knowledgeable about what vegan means, so helpful. Highly recommend! read more

This is an excellent addition to Japanese food options in Jacksonville. We travel to Japan often and this is the closest to the quality of nigiri you get in Japan. The Omakase options are amazing, the portion sizes are perfect and the taste was impeccable!
