So tonight I was really craving some good sushi I Googled yunagi around 9:25 and it told me that they were open until 10:30pm. I rushed over and got there around 9:56. I go to the counter and ask the man if I can order, he said no they're not taking any more orders they're closed. I told them I Googled them and it said they didn't close until 10:30 and he looked at me like I was dumb and didn't say anything else. I was pissed because I drove all the way there thinking I was going to make it on time and if they're going to close early they might as well change the time on their website!! Showed up on Saturday around 7 without reservations and was able to get a table quickly. I like that their menu has a photo of almost every single item and this makes it easier to order rolls when you are looking for some things specifically. After ordering, I have NEVER received my food so quickly, anywhere, ever. We both received all our items within 5 minutes of ordering. This may have been because there were three large groups that had been seated around the same time and they wanted to knock out order out, but still so quick! The food itself was absolutely amazing and priced accordingly compared to many other sushi places. The restaurant was smaller (did they remove the teppan grills?) and a bit loud with all the people, by almost every single place out here is like that with the crowds this wine town attracts. My friend and I were in town for wine tasting, and were in mood of sushi afterwards. This place was pretty much the only sushi place that's open for lunch on a Sunday. This place is owned by Korean (heard them speaking to each other in Korean. Their service wasn't the best really. This place reminds me of a smaller benihans. It is cute, all the sushi chefs greet you at the door, yelling at you as if they are celebrating your arrival. You definitely feel welcome. I always order the rainbow roll. It has always been fresh. The service has always been great. I don't like the way that you have to choose sides, either sushi or the grill but they will compromise and serve a bit of sushi at the grill side but I remember there being a problem if you wanted one or the other. I feel like i need to update my review because there are 2 parts to this restaurant, the sushi bar (which is reviewed on), and the teppen grill ( which this review is about). When we first saw they had a teppen grill, we figured it to be like another major chain teppen grill, but boy were we mistaken. The one gentleman that does the cooking makes it fun for everyone. Wow! If you're in Paso Robles do yourself and taste buds a favor and dine here! Service was fast and very friendly. The food was prepared quickly and was delicious. We ordered the Monkey Ball appetizer, Lobster Roll, and two combination dinners. The food was plentiful, and every dish looked great and tasted even better. We had an incredible sushi festival with James the Sushi Master who made us the most amazing dinner with out of this world rolls. James is a sushi master in my mind. This is my favorite place for Sushi in Paso. Their sushi is always fresh and tastes great. They have a large selection of fish and a full menu page of "special" rolls as well as a large selection of standard rolls. Not only do they serve sushi and other grilled/cooked Japanese food, they also have a Teppanyaki aka Teppan table. You have your choice of steak, chicken, lobster, or shrimp with mixed vegetables and fried rice - they cook all this in front of you on a big iron skillet and put on a little "show". Great for birthdays and other celebrations. I've been to this restaurant numerous times over the years, for both sushi and the Teppan table, and have never had a bad experience here, or had bad food. The service can be a little cold (unfriendly) sometimes, but the great tasting, fresh sushi more than makes up for it in my opinion. read more

This is a big place with a sushi bar and a hibachi. Plays loud club music and waiters come out in funny hats and even louder celebration music. By the time the second birthday song came up I had to cover my ears. I sat at the bar with a biz associate. The size of the serving was bigger than expected and the quality was ok. The chief tries to be creative with the rolls and kudos to him. The sashimi were thick portions but not exactly desired. Perhaps we were at the bar our waitress was no where to be found. Overall, this is the best sushi place in SLO north county. The food is very fresh. The things that should be hot are very hot. The things that should be cold are just that, cold. The food is prepared promptly and they always provide excellent service. I've ordered take out quite a few times since the COVID restrictions were put into place, and I happy to report that the quality is the same. I'm so glad they are still open.
