Lobster bisque - not great. Something was off about the taste, just didn't work for my taste buds. And the lobster pieces in the soup tasted rubbery. I am SO HAPPY that Yankee Lobster Co was recommended to me. Easy 5 stars without question! Yankee Lobster is a charming, no-frills establishment serving a phenomenal local classic dish. What's more is how welcoming they were to us and our little dog. They have a few tables out front on the sidewalk and then a side dining patio. Table service isn't available, so your pupper will need to remain outside when you place your order at the counter inside. For our visit, we ordered the butter lobster roll ($37) which was so rich and jam packed with delectable lobster, along with a fried shrimp appetizer ($15) and a Lobster Juice drink (which is a raspberry lime soda)! This past summer my family and I visited Boston and with Yankee Lobster right across the street from our hotel, we had to check it out. We arrived at 5 pm for dinner and it was already starting to get crowded. Ordering was easy, the staff was friendly, and we ordered the following: Hot Buttered Lobster Rolls - Served with fries, these rolls came with a very generous amount of lobster - more than a cup of chunky pieces. The bread was nicely toasted and the lobster was tender and perfectly cooked. 1.25 lb Lobster Dinner - This meal included a decent-sized lobster, fries, corn, melted butter and coleslaw. The lobster was fresh and sweet and it was a very filling dish. Narragansett Lager - My husband enjoyed this crisp and refreshing beer which paired perfectly with his lobster roll. Nut allergy friendly: No issues with my order and most things on the menu. There is usually a line for lunch here, especially on convention days at the BCEC. I arrived around 1PM. There were ~10 people in front of me. Got through the line in about 6 minutes, and got my food in another 8 minutes or so. Overall, very fast counter service. I have rated this as my best lobster roll in Boston a few years ago, and I think it maintains that designation to this day. Yankee serves both hot and cold lobster rolls in every style. I always get a cold mayo roll when I'm here, but I took five others this time and we were perfectly split 50/50 on hot vs. cold. I would take that to mean that both are excellent here! The lobster roll is quite substantial and comes with crispy fries. Highly recommend a touch of lemon on the cold roll. First stop in Boston is a lobster roll, of course. By the end of my trip, Yankee Lobster is still ultimately the winner of all the lobster rolls I tried. There isn't really a parking lot, but a few parking meters on the street. We got lucky and scored the first spot next to the entrance. Once you enter, you order at the counter and then grab a seat for your food to be brought out. They have multiple signs to remind people to not save tables until you have ordered to be fair. It wasn't busy when I came, so this wasn't much of a problem. We ordered the Traditional Lobster Roll (MKT $35.99), which comes cold with fries. Also added a small Clam Chowder ($6.99) and Plain Mac and Cheese ($11.99). The lobster roll is completely overstuffed with lobster that it was falling out of my bun. I even had some leftover to toss in to the mac and cheese. I only wish there was more of the clam chowder, which was warm and comforting on a chilly day. The mac and cheese is very cheesy, which I liked as well. Big plus is that they have a covered outdoor area where I was able to bring my dog, which was a huge reason why I chose this spot over the others too.
