    Gyro & Chicken Shawarma combo
    Valerie C.

Stumbled across Baba Kabob unexpectedly when looking for food around the area. It's like a hole in the wall Greek restaurant that also sells drinks, desserts, and other goods. We ordered the gyro and chicken Shawarma plate for 2. The gyro was perfectly seasoned and my favorite. The chicken was a bit drier but still palatable. The green chutney and tzatziki sauce is so delicious. The chutney is spicy and tangy/vinegary, and the white sauce is creamy and fragrant. We finished our plate so quickly and can't wait to come back. Service was very friendly - thank you guys for the great meal!

My first time here and it won't be my last! It's in the Sprouts plaza next to a Thai restaurant and shaved ice place. Small place with no indoor seating but there are tables outside to eat. You place your order and they bring out the food to you if you are eating there. We ordered the beef and chicken combos. It comes with rice, salad and chimichurri and tzatziki sauce. The meat is super tender with very good flavor. Surprised how tender the chicken is cuz it's breast meat. Really enjoyed the food here. It's a local business so it's small but with huge flavors. Definitely coming back.

Honestly, I feel like this is one of the best hitting gems in Poway. I I randomly drove by this place when getting a smog check and noticed that there are a lot of people sitting outside eating and I decided to check it out and it was actually amazing. They have only a couple small tables outside the shop with some umbrellas so if you come out a crowded time, it may be a little busy. I believe that this style of Middle Eastern food was Afghan food. We've been here twice and it tastes exactly the same as the first time we usually get the chicken and beef kebab plate. My husband and I always share the plate for lunch because it's the perfect amount but the samosas are also really good. They have a yogurt sauce and a green sauce which is amazing and the fact that the chicken is so tender and juicy and the steak is so tender as well as just the cherry on top. The owners are so friendly and know what they're doing. I hope they never change anything about their menu because it's so good and I wanna keep coming back and be a regular for a long time.

On our way back to the hotel, we saw this place while passing by and made a stop to check out the vibe. We ended up getting food, and it was great, had a really good flavor

So glad this place opened up a spot close by!! We love their location in Miramar and am so glad they have a second location now! As always the service is friendly, food is incredible and perfect as always. The steak and chicken combo plate is our go to meal. Or should I say.. 2 meals! We love this place so much we went 3 times in a week!!

the lamb kabob was rly good, tender & not gamey at all. it came w a small spring mix salad w tomato & onion, a lot of basmati rice, a lil container of yogurt sauce, & a container of spicy green chutney (like salsa verde). tried the chapli kabob as well which was a ground beef patty, can be finished in one sitting. there's no indoor seating (it's just the counter you order from plus a lil bodega aisle) but there is a cute patio area decorated w silk flowers, etc. they bring the food out to you, but it's self-service w the to-go boxes & putting away your plates

The potato bolani is so addicting and the kabob meats were so tender. And the portions are enormous so I had to exercise a lot of self control to not overeat. It's a small spot with just a few tables outside if you'd like to eat there.

We got to-go orders on a Saturday afternoon for a family party! It was delicious! I'm not sure all the things we got but it was all good. The chicken was soft and tender. The beef was moist. Everyone at the party enjoyed the food. There was lamb but i didn't have any. We literally had no leftovers!

Our first time to Poway as we have been to the Miramar location several times. We took it to go and it was delicious as usual.

Did a pick up order and tried for the first time tonight. It was excellent, the probably best gyro sandwich I've had.

Since Nobody answers the phone here I choose another place to eat, is this place still open?

It is open. I called a pickup order. Friendly and they have outside seating.

I'm no expert but this place appears to be a bit of a fusion restaurant. The menu has options similar to typical Indian food such as butter chicken, but then it also has items such as a beef kebab! And the beef kebab did not have the Greek flavors so that you normally expect, so it was very interesting indeed! The reason I say it seems like a fusion place is because they also serve burgers! Anyways, I'm so glad I tried this place because I have found another place that has AMAZING CHAI. I love good quality chai, and many places serve bad chai that has not much quality of flavor. But the chai at Casa Lahori is amazing! It tastes homemade, and they even serve it to you in a beautiful tea cup. I will definitely return just for the chai. And I'd like to return to try other items on their menu. The waiter was friendly.

We ordered nihari, chicken biryani, chiken tokka kabob, chapli kabob, naan and chai and mango lassi. Mango lassi was interesting it was like it had pistachio or something kheer flavored in it. The chicken tikka was called kebab in menu so that was confusing, since its a chicken leg. The leg was good, had good flavor and freshness and not overcooked. Chapli kabob was dissapointing- what was interesting was that employees were afghani so the chapli should have been good atleast, but it was dry and not right consistency. Biryani was tasting like the shaadi style where flavor is almost there but not quiet. The nihari wasnt that good tbh, it had a home style attempt taste and look, but quantity of meat was decent. Naans were okay, large soft and sinilar to a mix between roghni and kahmeeri (as called in lahore). Chai was masala chai so it tasted as described. They were playing music so not recommended as well, but they had janamaz (prayer rugs) which were good when we had to pray maghrib. They also do reserve seating so if you want the afghan like cushion pillow seat style (but ontop of chairs or bench) you could reserve it probably. So interesting that place /decore/menu is lahori but theirs an Afghan map and employees there. I wish then bolani was a menu option :) good to go with chai as an idea We did get to watch the fifa game for free

While I used to come weekly, I now make the trip monthly since moving--and it's absolutely worth every mile. The star of the menu for me is the beef koobideh--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and consistently delicious. The quality of the food here is excellent across the board, and the flavors have made me a genuine fan of Persian cuisine, which I didn't grow up with but now count among my favorites thanks to this place. The service is always warm and attentive, adding to the welcoming, casual atmosphere. As a small but appreciated touch, the NHL Network is often playing on the TVs--something that makes the experience even more enjoyable for hockey fans like myself. Grill House Cafe is one of those rare finds that combines authenticity, great value, and friendly service. I now eat here more than the friend who introduced me to this fantastic restaurant. Highly recommended

However, I also ordered the bottled carbonated doogh (a yogurt drink) and was given a bottle that said best by January 2025 even though I ate here May 6, 2025. I did ask for the bottle to be taken off my tab and the elderly gentleman who was serving us agreed, but also said "for yogurt this doesn't matter." I realize that best by dates and expiration dates are differently, but I expect a bit more from a restaurant. I personally would hesitate to return. I also found the TV blaring to be a little distracting.
