This was my first time here. I will definitely go back. We had all appetizers. The ahi poke nachos is the reason. PHENOMENAL! the crab lobster cheese dip (a seafood version of artichoke/spinach dip) was decent but not awesome as was the buffalo cauliflower. I had my watermelon margarita frozen. It watered it down too much, but I only like my margaritas frozen... It's a fun atmosphere and there's more on the menu I want to try. And that poke dish - Yummmmmmmm! read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try a different place to eat on a Saturday. We expected this spot to be crazy busy, but we were actually seated right away. Our server was David, and he was pretty chill. He made suggestions for us, and listened to what we wanted. I liked the dim lighting, and the decor was nice. I ordered a cocktail, the Citrus Crush (I think). So amazing. It was like an orange-flavored mojito. We got the hummus and pita bread, and also the french onion soup as appetizers. They were both very good. My boyfriend ordered the pastrami sandwich, and I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Both were very flavorful, and absolutely delicious! It's a place to eat and drink in the middle of the Valley (Northridge!) that's open relatively late. That's an automatic 4 stars with adjusted standards. It's a chain, so you pretty much get the same 'eh' food, same (but vast) beer selection, and their happy hour can hit just the right spot if you've been in the car long enough. The service is okay, sometimes great, sometimes not--pretty much standard expectations will keep you from being entirely disappointed. I used to come here a little too often right after a break up, so two of the bartenders started recognizing my face, which is nice (and worrisome, depending) if you just want a happy hour beer. Major downside is that it can get ridiculously crowded, especially if you just want bar seating... At night... During the weekend. Overall, it's a safe choice. Nothing grand, nothing too bad. Give it a go, but you won't miss out if you don't. If you find better watering holes during a weekend smack dab in the middle of the valley, go there (and invite me). As a local Valley kid, I like how this place closes late and gives young adults something to do here! The ambience is great, there are TV's everywhere, and the food is perfect for late night munchies. A lot of people give this place lower stars for the pricing, but it's clear they aren't coming for the past 10pm Happy Hour! Alcohol: It's always a good sign when the alcohol menu is twice as big as the food menu! This place's beer selection is pretty good and gets a lot of the essentials from the West Coast. They have some beers from throughout the country and even have a couple Nitros; pretty impressive! The Yard stick glass is obviously what they're known for. Come here to try beers and have finger food; don't come for dinner! Food: the truffle fries are AWESOME. The pizzas are a bit small, but are worth it during Happy Hour. Ambience: TV's and typically a young crowd, but this place suits family fine. I came here for a late dinner with my family once, and my quiet Asian parents liked it! Service: the service here is good, but not stellar. A couple of my servers have come off unfriendly and unengaged in their work. Overall, I love this place for it's alcohol choices and late night ambience. Don't come for dinner or lunch as much as later at night. BONUS: if the line is long and it's a Tuesday or Thursday night, hop over to bDubs and get some wings! The change to this mall area is just what Northridge needed. read more

I love it here! It's in such a good location..near the theater, near the mall, near the highway. If you're into beers and happy hour, this is the place to go because they have a lot of taps and snack options. Their service is pretty quick and efficient too. Met a friend and her kids for happy hour yesterday at Yard House. It was around 4:20 and there was a wait!! When seated we were greeted by a sweet waitress named Noelle. She was fast, nice , and accommodating, especially with all the kids!! It was my first time there for happy hour; appetizers and pizza were 1/2 off!!! Amazing deal! Service: I usually don't start with service but I think this is crucial because I believe that service is the most important thing in a restaurant. And this place was just missing it. I came here for my friends birthday dinner. Our waiter was very unorganized in taking our order. She skipped so many people in our party. We had to flag the waiters down to take our order. It was a group of us so that was understandable. Being a waiter isn't easy especially dealing with so many people so I get that. NOW this is the part that shocked us all. After we sang happy birthday to my friend for his birthday he took a shot from a tiny little shot bottle that he received as a gift (which was the only outside drink that was brought). It was literally the size of a small hand. Immediately after he takes the shot this man comes out of nowhere who we suspect is the manager, his name was Rene(?), screamed at us to get out. I kid you not in the middle of our birthday dinner this man was yelling at my friend for taking a shot from an "outside drink" which we had no idea we couldn't bring. Poor guy was being screamed at like a kid who did just did something really bad on his own birthday. I felt so bad for him. So we all just kind of quiet waiting for our check to come as this man just stares at us for what was maybe 15 minutes. It was so awkward. Finally someone from our group asks him if he's going to bring us the check and then he goes to the back to have someone do it for us. It took so long for our all our checks to come. Worst service I have ever had. Food: The food was okay and bit on the pricey side. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and a small bowl of fruits. I give it a 5/10. Ambience: The interior decoration of this place was really nice. The place was huge and the lighting was right. The restaurants layout is nicely set up. The bathroom was also nice and dimly lit. LONG STORY SHORT: Rene(?) (probably the manager) yelled at my friend for taking a shot from a small outside bottle. Then told us to leave in the middle of dinner. Watched us awkwardly for 20 minutes before getting our checks. Food was alright. Restaurant was nicely decorated. Great place to drink with friends. That's about it... Ive been to this location on many occasions, last being my birthday. The food is overpriced for its quality, but not terrible. The service always starts out well and quickly deteriorates. Servers will ignore tables with less than 4 customers in favor of large parties, resulting in 2.5 hrs spent at our table for 2 entrees and 1 desert (desert was covered for the wait). Just left Yard House in Northridge, which was my first time there, and the food was good, but the service was beyond horrible. Jamie F. was our waitress and she was very rude and unfriendly. At first, I was very respectful, saying "thank you" and smiling when she took our orders and brought our drinks but quickly realized it wasn't being reciprocated and felt as if she was giving attitude to everyone at our table. In addition, the wrong order came out not once BUT twice. Firstly, we got two orders of the poke nachos, when we ordered the poke stack. Secondly, my sister ordered the half yard of Stella and a regular pint size glass came out. She didn't apologize or really care that our orders had been messed up in a span of 10 minutes within siting down. At that point I was fed up and didn't order anything else. read more

Had lunch there this afternoon as was utterly disappointed. I've been going to the YH for almost 20 years - first time was in Long Beach, way before it became such a big chain. As I feared when it sold out, the restaurant and quality has suffered. It use to be a bit more upscale from the likes of Chili's and Applebee's, but no longer. Each table now has an iPad where you can look over the menu, and this is how the server placed our drink (alcohol) order. I'm not sure if we could've placed our order without the server, since we refused to bother with it. When it cam time for the bill, we were told we could just pay for it through the iPad. Our friend was using a gift card for her portion, and although they took the $25 off, the bill was then split 3 ways, when it should've taken the $25 off her portion. We had to figure out the logistics of that later. We could never figure out how to see the itemized bill, since that button wouldn't work, only after each paying our portions could we print out the receipt to see the bill. Initially our server stood there while I was completing my payment and I felt like she was watching me to see what I tipped. Honestly, what did she do? A different person brought us our drinks, our food and our water. She even went on break in the middle of our meal, which I think happens every time I eat at there. If they are now moving to relying on electronics instead of people I will not be returning. I go to restaurants not just for the food but for the experience. If I wanted fast food with little interaction, I would go to a different restaurant. I am very disappointed in what the Yard House has become. Not to mention our food was over salted, and the server never even asked if we wanted fresh cracked pepper on our salads. We used to love it here, food is decent, as well as the ambiance. Staff seems fine at first but after a few dine ins it is quickly apparent that the management or whoever is running the show. must have a Napoleon complex. We saw the host who is always gear to see smiling and cheerful with a twinkle in her eye. Unfortunately we have watched her and many others bright happy demeanor decline in the recent weeks. We watched "Drew" be rude to several employees blatenly, and in front of other patrons. This type of behavior was seen more than just in one dining experience, and is more than inappropriate to not only treat people in such a manor but is wildly disgusting to do so in front of paying persons. This Also changed the whole ambiance of the space in which we used to so great fully frequent. We were then pushed over the edge when we saw one of the employees crying in her car and the manager saw, then walked away as if she were a dying hyena the pack no longer needed. NOBODY should ever be treated in such a manor and because of this treatment and attitudes of hierarchy amongst a group of slaves needing the whole team to work in tandom is the epitome of the grandiose narcissistic negativity that has brought religions, countries, and whole races of humans to their demise. Needless to say I don't need to continue going or not going to this restaurant because they will ultimately be their own destruction from within. read more

Restaurant itself is beautiful. I would have given them a full 5 stars, but the patio does have a horrible smell due to construction, and lots of flies. Staff: The staff was lovely. They were more than happy to make us a fresh Poke Bowl because my boyfriend is allegoric to nuts, no charge. One of the waitresses, Brandi, was one of the nicest waitresses I've ever had. She was great. The food: We ordered a Poke Bowl, Blackened Chicken Cesar, and a Peppered Gorgonzola Burger. Everything was fresh, arrived in a timely manner, and was delicious. The decor is almost diner/sports bar like, but classy contemporary with commercial core...what ever that all means..but that's what my decor radar picked up. So the food.... You can skip the crab cakes, they are not tasty, and nothing crab like about it. On a nice large plate with heavy creamy sauce on the bottom... we did eat it, as they are edible with the mango salsa(besides being hungry and the first thing in front of us). Skip the heavy cream sauce. The spicy Thai pizza is tasty good, but crust can be stiffer crispy. Ours was soft and limp. Mushroom lettuce wraps were really good. The calamari was dry and the texture reflected the fried batter with no squidy bite at all. No taste or squidy texture, specially in my favorite parts, the tentacles. The kids fish and chips was ok, better than a few other things.....thick fried batter but with soft plump fish inside. Couple weeks ago came for dinner and waiter recommended the fish special not on the menu. We had 2 orders on the table. It was ok, but nothing special and portion was ok for a person. We didn't realize it was $30 each. For that price it should have been more than just OK. And that was lame he didn't mention the price. Good places that are proud of what they serve say the price of the dish. Pretentious and places like used car lots will hide something. Drinks, you can't go wrong! They have so many options, and the bartenders are super. One thing that I noticed is this place really use a "healthy options" menu list. The Mushroom Lettuce wraps we got, could have been very healthy. They were likely sauted in butter/oil, which could be less, or they can have healthy alternates, but they serve it in a bowl that is a deep fried huge wonton shell. Same with Crabcakes, that are fried, but not so much fried surface area. But the cream sauce is heavy. Others were as expected. I will likely go again, as I like the place, and the beer selection is also rather SUPER! I will look for healthier options, as this time we were hungry and in a hurry and we just saw this place to eat on the way with the kids. The service is rather good, and they have a large menu. but it will take some getting used to, and tweaking the orders, or finding somethings that are adaptable. Outstanding food and service. First time visit, a Friday at 5:30 pm, with wife and two kids age 20 and 13. We were seated outside where the heat lamps kept us plenty warm. I typically don't write such glowing reviews because they are few and far between, but give credit when it is due. I had the BBQ bacon cheddar burger with garlic aoli and it was incredible. Came here to watch the Kings game, munch on some apps and have a few beers. But... Food: My boneless wings were actually pretty good; Crispy, flavorful and not at all heavily breaded. They were a solid win! However, my chick and her friend got tacos that came out cold and fries that were soggy. The game: When we sat down, some basketball game was on the TVs. We asked to have them switched to the Kings game and they did, but they were switched back shortly after. Apparently the bar TVs are only for the bar patrons, even though no one was sitting near one of the TVs that we were closest to; We were not made aware of this (we sat at one of the tables closest to the bar). Why didn't we sit at the bar? There are three of us and it's slightly uncomfortable trying to have a conversation when you're all sitting in a row. The staff: They seemed a bit disorganized and unsure and kept coming to us with food that we didn't order. A manager, Dan (I think), was extremely apologetic when we told him our situation and offered to change the channel on another TV a bit further than my eyes would comfortably prefer.
