Happy Hour at Yardhouse is the best deal in town, M-F, 3:00-6:00, almost all appetizers are 1/2 price. The appetizers are delicious & definitely a great value. You can have a beer for $2 off and $3 off some glasses of wine. We (6 of us) started with a taco special, normally $5-$6 each, but on special for $2. They came with soft shells, garnished with great tasting sauces & with all the trimmings found in real Mexican restaurants. I suggest the blackened shrimp, but all the tacos were great, some of us had two before we ordered appetizers, unfortunately, this was a rare mid-week special, only T-Th this past week. For appetizers, we had the calamari, crispy on the outside & tender, tentacles were so crunchy, accompanied with ranch & red cocktail sauces for dipping. Then we had the chicken lettuce wrap, lettuce was cool & the chicken was hot, I suggest the peanut sauce. Next came the southwest egg rolls, similar to the ones they used to have at Chili's, hot & crispy with a sweet & sour dipping sauce, came with only four pieces so we ordered two. We also ordered a mushroom & pepperoni pizza, crust was thin & crunchy, had lots of cheese! The coup de gras was the chicken nachos, humongous in size, lots of chicken, smothered in cheese and topped with scoops of sour cream & guacamole! It was excellent! Each appetizer only cost $5-$6 dollars, what a deal! Lastly, our server Melissa was great! Very pleasant & accommodating. It was my wife's birthday so we brought a cake, Melissa brought it out in the box, suggested we take a picture of it before she cut it, even brought us candles & a match, very perceptive & thoughtful. I really wanted to give this restaurant 5 stars. Since they opened last week, I've heard nothing but great things about Yard House! Finally decided to give this restaurant a try with a couple of colleagues. I tried calling to make reservations in the morning but they said they currently do not take reservations. I arrived 15 min earlier and was greeted by the hostess and told it'd be a 45 minute wait for 3 people.. but open seating at the bar. I walked around the bar area and ran into a friend dining there and my cousin.. both who raved about how good the food was. After waiting for our table, our waiter greeted us and brought our drinks/took our orders. ONE hour later, we were still waiting for our food; we noticed the tables around us getting their food much earlier than we did. We all ordered the Nashville hot chicken.. granted, the food was really good (it had a nice spicy kick to it), but just extremely disappointed with all that wait time. I arrived at 6:45 and ended up leaving at 9:30. The manager came over to apologize and gave us 25% off our bill, so that was nice of them. We went to Yard House while in Las Vegas, and I was beyond excited when they opened in Troy. The first stand out of our afternoon lunch was the amazing service provided by Cherie. She did such a wonderful job with food and drink suggestions, and she was very attentive. Always on time when we needed something. We started out with a snack and chose the deviled eggs which were tasty and topped with perfectly crisped bacon. We added a cup of soup to our entree orders and those came to the table soon after the snack. The chicken tortilla and clam chowder soups were as good as you'd expect. Cherie recommended the lobster garlic noodles as my entree, and I was blown away. This has to be one of the best pasta dishes I've ever eaten. Seriously, I'd order it again and again. My friend had the parmesan crusted pork loin and enjoyed it also but not as much as my pasta dish. The cocktails were great also. I had the pomegranate margarita, cherry limeade, and blackberry smash. Our only complaint was that the restaurant was cold. I had to wrap my coat around my legs. It's a large restaurant with high ceilings so I'm sure it takes a lot of heating to warm it up. We returned a week later at 7pm on a weekday and the wait was 45 minutes. Ever since I heard that this place was opening, I've been anxious to check it out. It was a cold and snowy Saturday night on a holiday weekend, so we figured the crowd would be light. That was a bad assumption. I read other Yelp reviews that mentioned that they took call aheads, so we tried that - apparently they don't do that on Friday or Saturday nights. They did tell us that there wasn't a wait, and it was relatively early, so we headed over. By the time we got there, there was a 20 minute wait. The hostesses seemed a bit overwhelmed and didn't seem to be doing a great job managing the growing crowd. At one point they told us we were next, and then we saw them proceed to seat several tables ahead of us. When we questioned it, they claimed that they signaled our pager and we didn't respond, which was a complete lie because we were holding it the whole time (in addition to the fact that we were never more than 10 feet away from the hostess stand). (That whole paragraph is the reason I subtracted the star). When we stepped into the dining area, we liked what we saw. It is quite a spacious place, and it looks like they have a patio area that will provide even more seating in nice weather. They advertise "20+ flat screens", but surprisingly the execution of this is not as obnoxious as it sounds (and yes, my daughter counted them). Most seats are in view of several screens, but it is less overwhelming than the feeling you get in a Buffalo Wild Wings. Now, the important part - the food and drinks. Let's start with the drinks, since that's where the "yard" part of their name comes into play. They promote the size of their draft beer selection, which was quite large. The part that surprised me was that it included a lot of the old standards (Bud, Coors, etc.) - nothing wrong with that, but I have become so accustomed to places having nothing but small brewery craft beers that I didn't expect it. It struck me that this was the "chain" part of this place's DNA coming through - I suspect they have a similar beer menu across the country. Regardless, I found a Hawaiian blonde ale that I had never tried before, and it was quite good. The food menu is...HUGE. The upside of our long wait was that we had time to study the menu, so we were prepared when we got to the table. My wife and I started with side Caesar salads. They were quite good, but a little too large for a side, in our opinion. For my entree, I had the lobster and shrimp agnolotti. It was very good, with generous portions of lobster. My wife had the mac and cheese, which also looked quite tasty. My daughter opted for the black truffle cheeseburger and she really enjoyed it. I also don't want to forget to mention that our server, Kourtney, was very friendly and attentive through our visit. Yard House has happy hour from Monday - Friday from 3PM-6PM and late night happy hour from Sundays - Wednesdays from 10PM til close. They offer 1/2 off select apps and all pizzas. We came here for a friend's birthday during lunch time right when they opened to it wasn't too busy, so we got seated right away. Once it got closer to 1PM, it was getting really busy. Our waitress was very friendly, a little on the slower side to come back to our table, but seeing that this establishment is fairly new, I won't count my reviews against that. The restaurant is a great new space, unique paintings on the wall, large selections of tap (100+ beers), and TVs everywhere. We sat inside at one of the booths along the wall and it was really large and comfortable. Now, why 3 stars? They have a HUGE menu selection. Everything from sushi, poke, nachos, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, pasta, steak, seafood, soups, salads, tacos and probably some more that I missed. Are they trying to cover everything to cover all grounds for every kind of eater? I did find it interesting that they have a section of the menu dedicated to Gardein dishes. If not many people are familiar, its a product line that does meat free alternatives. It seems quite excessive. I would be more impressed if they had less food options and do them better. Also, priced pretty high. For tacos, you're looking at more than $4 per taco. Sandwiches and burgers are more than $13. So you can imagine everything else priced even higher. For the table, we got the poke nachos to share. The chips were thin and crispy so I liked that. The tuna was quite flavorful but didn't have much. I got the lobster & shrimp agnolotti. It was suppose to be seafood stuffed pasta topped with lobster meat and jumbo shrimp in a lemongrass lobster sauce. Agnolotti is similar to a ravioli however, this wasn't as thick or filled. The filling tasted like a paste, not much seafood taste. The sauce was super creamy, lacked the lemongrass lobster I was hoping for. My boyfriend got the Nashville hot chicken that came with sweet potato pancakes, and a honey hot sauce. The chicken wasn't hot and spicy like we expected. They used a really thin chicken breast of some sort which ended up drying out the chicken. The honey hot sauce was a good addition. It was more like a syrup that you can pour onto the chicken. That gave it the nice kick we were looking for. I may come back one day for happy hour to try more of their appetizers and pizzas. As exciting it is to get another new restaurant in the Troy area, it lacks originality, and diversity. There are so many places opening up in the Troy area on Big Beaver but it's quite similar the other existing places that is already there. I typically try and avoid places that are new since they usually have kinks to work out early on but nevertheless tried this place out last night. Pros: - Nice décor and ambiance. I really loved the beer kegs illuminated with blue lights up above. - We were seated in what I assume will be the outdoor patio during the summer. Was much quieter and more comfortable than the main dining room. - Food was pretty good. Got a complimentary appetizer due to our wait and opted for the fried mac n cheese bites which were very tasty and not overly greasy. For my meal I got the Lamb Burger which was perfectly cooked and a nice change of pace from a typical hamburger. - Huge beer selection. They claim it's the world's largest selection of draft beer, but I question that as I have been to several other establishments throughout the country with similar offerings. Cons: - Wait time for a table was grossly misquoted. Were told 20 minutes and it turned into over an hour. Despite this, there were an abnormal number of empty tables that never had anyone at them the entire time we waited. In general, they seemed understaffed across all areas. - Beer is WAY overpriced. $5.50 for a pint of Bud Light? I don't mind paying a premium for imported/craft brews but their prices for basic domestic brews were absurd. - Staff was not overly familiar with the beer selection. This was the case with both our server and a bartender. For a place that advertises beer so prominently I expected more knowledge and ability to make recommendations. - Way too many empty kegs. Asked the bartender for an IPA recommendation and he listed off 4-5 that they were out of. Again, I understand it's a new place but just because a place is new doesn't mean you should accept mediocrity either.I think a lot of these negatives can be addressed as time goes on and I will definitely give them another chance once the "newness" wears off. read more

Went here on a Friday night and like most new restaurants there was a 45 minute wait. Usually I wouldn't wait, however, we were meeting people there so we had some drinks at the bar. It was very open and lots of room to stand without getting bumped into, not uncomfortable. Nice decor with lots of TVs tuned to a variety of channels. The music they played was loud. But the tunes they played were good and you could still have a conversation without yelling. They have a HUGE selection of draft beers and getting a drink was relatively easy despite the crowd. This would be a great place to watch a game with friends. But dinner.....meh. The place was packed so service was slow, but not bad. The food on the other hand was not the greatest. They had a large menu of typical bar food with some more elaborate entrees. I took this place for what it was and ordered the vampire tacos and an asada taco. They were nothing special. Truffle fries were OK too. Coconut shrimp appetizer was good. Wanted the cheese curds but they were out of them. I love cheese curds!!! Oh well. My beef with this place was that the food isn't my type, and not very tasty regardless, and we were there for 3+ hours for dinner. First, Danuelle was/is a great waiter. The tip, as it should, was representative of his service. The food runners bring soup likely knowing the place settings do not have ... spoons. They bring out an ice cream sundae ... wait for it ... without a spoon. Each meal had chicken tortilla soup and ... you guessed it ... no spoons. Brilliant! We got the queso app and the tortillas were the consistency of chips; they snapped in half. It would have been better to just bring a plate of chips. When we arrived, the hostess sat us in the naughty section, in the back, away from all TVs. However, there was a ceiling fan on HYPER-speed that kept us cool(er) on this 42 degree day, by the garage door and apparent employee exit. This would be a great place to go for just drinks. Fun sports bar atmosphere. It has large TVs everywhere and lots of seating. Food was decent which is why it gets 3 stars. We ordered the truffle fries which had no truffle flavor to them whatsoever. We also both ordered the Caesar salad, however I found bits of egg in mine and my friend found corn in hers. We were able to sit for a while and chat without being bothered which was nice and the staff was extremely friendly throughout our visit. I have been to Yard House several times in both California and Hawaii so I wanted to see if it was any different over here in Troy Michigan. I'm usually pretty biased when it comes to what I want to eat at Yard House. I usually eat the miso Seabass because it actually taste better than most high end restaurants that serve Seabass. So this time instead of getting Seabass I decided to get their Nashville hot chicken. I don't know if it's I've never seen on their menu or this is something special they do in Troy. I'll have to check when I get back home. This was a very tasty crispy chicken that was served with two small but fluffy pancakes. The chicken had such a succulent taste and it chilled really well with the mini pancakes. Priced for about $17, you can't go wrong with trying this out. I'm going to have to keep this one in the rotation if they serve this at all of their restaurants. read more

Usually don't get much treatment from a hostess but Charlotte treated us like we were waking into her home. She took us to a table and saw a small spot on the table and immediately cleaned it for us apologizing for the spot. So nice to walk into a place and have a hostess be so kind. Dan was our waiter. I ordered the Baja Shrimp Tacos with a side of their spicy rice and beans. The tacos were good-the rice horrible and the beans marginal, at best. Service: Good. They were clearly short staffed based on the amount of open tables available and the large crowd of folks waiting for a table. Our waitress was fine but she had a hard time hearing us as we tried to order (see atmosphere). My first time at a Yard House and first Yard House in the state. I will definitely be back. I was debating between the Poke nachos and the Poke bowl. I ended up trying the Poke bowl which was outstanding. The truffle fries were delicious too. The Hawaiian mule is now my favorite. Service was spot-on. Parking lot can get busy- although there is a structure if you don't mind a little walk. There's patio seating which will be nice - when summer comes back to MI lol. I recently moved from Los Angeles to Detroit within the past 3 months. In LA, my girlfriend and I frequented Yardhouse due to the great service and top notch food. I can't recall a single instance where I had a bad experience, nor heard anything bad from my peers. BUT this one HAS to step their game up ASAP. The service was very slow and the servers seem to be a bit inexperienced (at least ours). I understand that it is only the beginning, but you can only make a first impression once... so make it count. My company made a reservation for 14 and were seated immediately on arrival! Our water was served to us as soon as we sat down and within minutes our orders were taken... Although most of our group enjoyed their meals, it took about 45-55 minutes for our food to actually come out. There were a few hiccups with our orders, but management made it up by comping our whole meal... which we are EXTREMELY GRATEFUL.... I will be going back, but I know some of my co-workers were turned off by their first experience. I hope management takes this opportunity to push their servers to prioritize better. Overall, this was an OK place. The setting and food were excellent. However the service is too slow for lunchtime. I will come back and try them for dinner because I was happy with my meal overall, I just was not happy I had to spend over an hour there just to get a water and a salad. If you're going there for lunch, I do not recommend this place unless you plan to spend over an hour there - which most people can't afford such luxuries with their job. I've heard similar complaints from friends on Facebook about their slow service before I arrived, so there does seem to be a pattern. I'll come back for dinner and see what happens. As the standard speed of service for dinner is slower than it is for lunch. The setting overall has a very nice design and atmosphere. They have a variety of seating options to where you could come here as a couple or with some friends. I definitely would like to come back here in the summer time when it warms up. They offer a great array of variety of beers. I had their Cobb Salad. I was very happy with it. Ingredients tasted fresh. Overall a very nice combination of flavors. Our group of 4 was seated relatively quick having to wait only a few minutes at 7:30 on a Sunday night. Our waiter took an extremely long time between getting waters. We placed an appetizer order and later we gave our dinner order, our salads came before our appetizers. I ordered a drink that never arrived, our waiter was absent often. The food was ok, fires on 2 orders were hard and luke warm, the rice on the other 2 orders were cold as well. Overall, dinner and service were not worth the time , roughly 1 hour, 30 minutes from start to finish.
