This was my second visit to Yats, where they serve comforting Cajun-inspired food. Don't expect traditional NOLA flavors--this is the Midwest, after all. I ordered the chili cheese crawfish étouffée and drunken chicken, half and half, for $11. The dish came as a generous portion of rice smothered in sauce, with four pieces of crawfish and plenty of shredded chicken. Everything is bite-sized, meant to be eaten with a spoon, and served with bread--definitely a carb-heavy meal. While both sauces were a bit too salty for my taste, the rice helped balance the flavors. Overall, it's a hole in the wall spot for affordable, hearty eats when I'm in the area.

I ordered the vegan white chili and spinach etoufèe. Initially it looked like I Was getting an ample portions of both; however, I ended up with waaaaay more rice and just a small amount of the etoufèe and chili. Not sure if this was a cost cutting move or not but next time I'll ask for the rice to be separated. The creativity of the dishes are awesome but then the flavors can just "MEH"particularly if you've had authentic cajun food. The staff were friendly and the food came out fast. That's why I gave it 2 stars instead of one.

Guys I love Yats so much. Everytime I travel here I eat it every chance I get. I got a little excited and ate the plate. Praise be.

If you love Cajun food this is the spot to go! Not very many options like this around Indy and you get really flavorful food at a great price. Only $9 for a really good portion size. When I first walked in, it was a little underwhelming. I know this restaurant has been around forever but the interior felt really run down and in need of a face lift for people dining in. The tables and chairs had food crumbs on them and the floors were kinda dirty. The vibe is pretty cool though with the NOLA/Southern theme. The food here was delicious though! We got the crawfish etoufee, chicken maque choux, and the chipotle chicken alexio. The etoufee was definitely the star here, but all the food was great. Creamy and flavorful. And omg the bread that comes dipped in the butter is AMAZING. My only complaint about the food is the rice that comes with it seemed a little old/dry. They also have a hot sauce bar which is pretty cool, but most of the labels on the bottle were coming off and hard to read. Lastly, the service here is great! The 2 guys taking orders were friendly and our food came out before we even had a chance to sit down.

Ate lunch at Yats today and the food, as usual, was excellent. The Chili Cheese Etouffee with Crawfish is always delicious, and the staff's recommendation of extra bread was perfect. I loved the funky, zydeco feel of the place, the service is quick and friendly, and parking is never an issue. Took a friend with me today, and he couldn't stop raving about the food. We will definitely be back.

I've been going here for 10+ years, I can't believed I have never reviewed Yats! Whenever I bring this back for lunch (which is often), my co-workers refer to it as "the chicken gravy" but it's SO much better than that sounds! The rotating menu varies daily (check their website) but my favorites are the drunken chicken and chipotle alexio, both made with chicken and a variety of spices. I get the half and half of both, served over rice, with buttered/spiced bread, for only $10. It's now pick-up only but it's ready immediately since they are like a stew, cooking in a large pot, simmering those amazing flavors together. They have a lot of hot sauces you can add yourself, as well as the option to top your dish with sour cream. As much as I love both of those, the flavors are perfect with no additions of my own. Don't sleep on dessert! Both the peanut butter pie and cookie butter pie are phenomenal! Most people get extra bread, I believe it's only $.75 for two pieces, and it's well worth it. The staff is always so sweet here too, making the whole experience great every time. Check out one of their many locations for a true flavor bomb!

First time coming here and I have to say I loved this place. Great vibes just walking in and felt like a true mom and pop little restaurant. The people working there were super friendly and gave great recommendations too. I got the vegetarian B&B which has black beans and caramelized onions. Add a little hot sauce to it and you get this great sweet and spicy rice dish which was superb. The bread I would say was the best part. Crunchy and the seasoning they use really takes it to the next level. Overall, will definitely have to come back and try the other hot sauces they have. Would definitely check this place out for a cheap delicious meal!

Yats is always consistent. That's what I like about it. You know what you will get when you go to any of the locations. I always get the same thing so I cannot speak on dishes with chicken, pork or beef. I always get a 1/2 & 1/2 of Chili Cheese Étouffée and the B&B (black bean and caramelized corn) loaded (onions, sour cream and cheese). The étouffée is hearty and is great comfort food. Even with chili in the name, it's not too spicy. The B&B is sweet but the onion adds a kick to it. Over the years, I have eaten with people who have had the gumbo and jambalaya and they loved it. The location on 96th St has lots of parking and is in a convenient location. The staff are either sweet or salty but even the salty ones get the job done. To sum it up, the food is excellent and there are always vegetarian options. Oh! And the bread is yummy!

Always one of the leaders in the Indy area for quick Cajun food. Not the cheapest but tasty. Each entree works out to be about 9 dollars. Went to the 96th St. Location for work. Small strip lot parking. It wasn't crowded at opening time during the week. Walk up counter for ordering was fast and we did not have to wait long for carry out. The work group tried the gumbo, red beans and rice, and the chili cheese étouffe. No complaints. We all love their bread!

What an incredible dining experience at Juniper on Main in Carmel! Four of us met there for dinner…read moreto celebrate a birthday (though we never mentioned it to the restaurant), and from the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. Our server, Hannah, made us feel welcome immediately. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and struck the perfect balance of being available without ever hovering. We started with the Caprese peach salad and the deviled eggs, both of which were outstanding. Then the evening became something truly special. Our friends happened to know Chef Antoine, who came out to say hello and asked if we'd trust him to simply cook for us. We happily said yes--and we're so glad we did. The chef first brought out a beautiful arugula salad with peaches, strawberries, pecans, blue cheese, and an incredible peach balsamic vinaigrette. Then came what he called "a sampling," but it was really a feast. We enjoyed rich, tender short ribs over creamy grits, a perfectly prepared chicken cordon bleu with fresh green beans, and beautifully blackened redfish served with dirty rice and asparagus. Every single dish was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Dessert was the perfect ending: creamy cheesecake and a slice of hummingbird cake, one of my all-time favorites. Both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. It was a beautiful evening, and while many guests enjoyed the patio, we chose to sit inside. After this experience, I already know we'll be back in the fall to enjoy dinner outside. I've lived back in the Indianapolis area for a while now, and I can honestly say this was the best meal I've had since returning. We had driven past Juniper on Main countless times without stopping. It took a friend's recommendation to finally walk through the doors, and now I'm wondering why we waited so long. If you haven't been, put it on your list. Outstanding food, exceptional hospitality, and an unforgettable evening. We'll definitely be back.

*2.25/5* Unwhelming. - Service was fine to average…read more - Good ambiance outside. - The red wine sangria wasn't worth the price for the pitcher; house red with maybe 5 slices of assorted fruits. - The crab and artichoke dip tasted good. The pimento cheese dip was fine; closer to a nacho cheese dip. Both dips came with too few naan dippers to finish the dip (they charged extra for extra naan to finish the dip). - The cajun pasta was fine. Pasta was cooked well. I got it with chicken, which tasted good. The sauce was fine. - The hot honey chicken tenders were crispy, but lacked flavor. - The CBR chicken sandwich was good. Crispy and good size. - Do not order the side mac n cheese. $6 for some Stouffer's mac n cheese topped with the pimento cheese dip (that's basically nacho cheese dip). Overall, if someone asked to meet here for a meal I would request another restaurant but I'd still eat here if they insisted.
