    Salted fish and eggplant casserole

Delicious crab/pork soup dumplings; more crab flavor than at other places. We liked that they give you a ladle to hold these while you eat. Pork and shrimp shimai was also tasty and HUGE! We tried a random "casserole" and it turned out to be the sleeper hit: salted fish with eggplant. It was perhaps a little salty for some but over rice, perfect. Seemed more Thai than Chinese (presuming the saltiness was from fish sauce) or at least tasted it. Got got roasted meat (pig and pork) tasty but at the end of the day not as crispy. Good, attentive service. Good prices.

After hanging out in the city, we decided to give this place a try after watching it on YouTube. We were immediately seated after arriving. The place is medium in size with tables seating up to 4 people covering the floor. Handwoven pendant lamps hang above the tables to light up the restaurant and to top it all off, the restaurant's name is printed in the back in the form of an orange mural. We ordered the following: Rice Noodle Rolls & Beef with an egg - We were disappointed in this because the skin was a bit thick and the beef wasn't seasoned. They also charged $2 extra for the egg, which we thought was a bit high. Three meats Over Rice - duck, char siu, roast pig. Hubs thought this was ok and standard. Beef brisket Yuba in casserole - the meat was flavorful and tasty but it was undercooked and could definitely use a bit more time braising. It was a bit tough. When we brought it home and reheated for an extra 30 minutes, the consistency was better and softer. Chicken with mushroom in casserole- this was the best dish of the night. There was plenty of chicken, mushrooms and vegetables. Hubs think they should convert this restaurant into a rice casserole restaurant. LOL Service was ok. Glad we got to try this place, though!

I love that they have all the sauces available at the table so you can pour as much as you want on your rice noodle dish or the BBQ meat rice dish, this is what pushed the 4 star to 5 star because it made the dining experience better. We didn't get soup but they have red vinegar at the table too. They also initiated and gave me more of their roast meat soy sauce which is so delicious, I could eat that with rice all day. The crispy pig, duck, and roast pork skin were yummy and the shrimp rice noodle was good too. I saw many people get their ginger scallion chicken for their bbq rice combo, will try that next time. The congee had a generous amount of squid and came in a big portion that can feed two to three people. They also had pepper on the table for congee which I appreciated. The soup dumplings were well made. The crabmeat and pork filling was big and juicy and the skin did not break. The ginger vinegar sauce for the soup dumplings was a little on the sweeter side for me. I personally wouldn't get the soup dumplings again (well made but not the flavor I like from my usual spot) but if you're someone who doesn't eat soup dumplings often, you'll like it. My Americanized friend loved it. My fav soup dumplings spot is in another borough but this hits the spot when I crave it. Casual hustle and bustle spot, like any Chinese restaurant. I like dining in here because of all the sauces. Staff are nice and helpful (really appreciate the extra roasted meat soy sauce). Not pictured is the caramel iced coffee. It had an even balance of coffee and condensed milk and was not too sweet. Would get it again. They offer a discount if you pay with cash. Credit cards are accepted. Reasonable prices. Happy to have another authentic place in SI!

We visited on a Sunday night and they were busy. They are best known for their clay pots/casserole and when they are busy there can be a bit of a wait for it. My favorite is the spare ribs casserole. Have it with their special soy sauce and its perfect. The place has plenty of seats for dining in, perfect for family/friend dinners.

I tried their soup dumplings on Uber Eats. The soup dumplings pretty thick outer layer, and didn't have much soup inside compared to what I usually expect. That said, the overall flavor was still good, and everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. While it wasn't perfect, it was still an enjoyable meal, and I'd be open to giving it another try to see if it was just an off day.

More than 1/2 my roast pork inedible fat!

Ordered roast pork sold by the pound. More than half was inedible fat! Wonton soup very good. Service good. Nice inside.

    Beef noodle soup

2025 Apr 26: we arrived on a Saturday at 12:40 and was able to get a table. There was parking outside with spots reserved for their customers. All the patrons are Chinese. 1) fish porridge 2) fish rice wrap 2) beef noodle soup 3) pork clay pot rice. 4) Hong Kong milk tea 5) three meat rice to go 6) chicken rice to go. The clay pot rice is small but the best we had , even better than Bayside! There are two unisex bathrooms that are spacious and clean.

Pretty good food! I think this is the first Chinese restaurant on the island that has nice ambience. Service was fast & friendly.

Heard about this new restaurant on Hyland Blvd so decided to go in. Inside restaurant is not big or small restaurant has about 12 tables. When we first walk in they sat us to table. It wasn't that busy. They gave some teas and took us order. We order our foods and it was pretty fast. Some foods was great and some ess not so good . I didn't care for the noodle it was kind a hard and the wonton was ok. Probably come back to try other foods.

    Appealing and soothing ambiance

Had dinner here and the dishes we ordered (crabmeat and pork soup dumplings, roast duck with roast pork as appetizers, salted fish with pork rice casserole, and traditional beef chow fun) were pretty authentic and flavorful. Unfortunately, they sold out of the roasted pig, as they said they had a busy afternoon. The menu consisted of traditional and popular items. The restaurant was clean and had a soothing decor with what looks to be a variation on the lantern. We were told YaYa had been opened for about six months now. The waiters were very polite and pleasant to talk to. They kept our cups filled with tea throughout our meal. Would definitely return to try out other items.

They count the tips in front of you. Extremely classless. The food isn't even good enough to be that rude.

That's when we found Lion Dance in Staten Island. Honestly, I didn't expect much because this place is on Staten Island. I've lived here my whole life, and to be real, not a lot of food spots here are that good. I usually go to other parts of NYC to eat. But BOY, WAS I WRONG. I got the pork soup dumplings, lotus leaf steamed rice with beef and broccoli, shrimp siu mai, and a mango green tea with medium sugar and mango jelly. Everything was so good! The biggest surprise was the lotus leaf steamed rice, it had so much flavor and went perfectly with the beef. The portion was big too. The soup dumplings were juicy, the siu mai were fresh, and the mango green tea was super refreshing. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Overall, I loved the food, the vibe, and the service. Definitely coming back and if you're from Staten Island, trust me, this spot is worth checking out!

I was asking about reservation, they said it's not needed-the Jade Island is huge! But we called for a reservation... I was very skeptical from the start about Chinese cuisine-not my taste, but my friends repeated about old school, classic Chinese Food! At the start-yes, the place is huge! With different shape tables -from 2 to bigger for 10 and more... Surprisingly, there were still a lot of diners at that late time... I forgot Chinese food totally and opted for a safe option- Fried rice with shrimps- very tasty, not salty..huge portion-took home half of it. We ordered Tofu with veggies-crispy veggies, Bock Choi not over- or under cooked-perfect - and tofu-delicious and family size prefix for 2 -with soups/spring rolls and main-chicken... Size for 2 would definitely feed 3-5 people! Great service, very attentive; -spacious seats, nice ambience - and great prices! Would definitely go again, if my friends decide to eat there. This place has big portions, great service, and caters to a more American dining experience with big tables for parties or even reunions. Non-negotiable items I have to get every time I'm here: - egg rolls - big and crispy - wonton egg drop mixed - the pieces of pork are HUGE - orange chicken - perfect white chicken meat every time! - chicken and broccoli - tried and true We usually come around 5PM on a Saturday to beat the rush and it works out perfectly that we don't need to make any reservations.
