One word, amazing! The food was delicious! It was my first time going there so I struggled a little on knowing what to put in my bowl. One of the staff members didn't get her name but she had* green eyes noticed I was struggling and asked if I needed any assistance (I obviously did). She handed me some pieces of paper and she recommended that I used them to smashed my food down in my bowl since I would need to do that in order to make my noodles, vegetables and meat fit. I'm gluten free so she helped me pick some options that suited me for the sauce which turned out delicious. It amazed me how much multitasking and hard working she was. Great food a wonderful experience with the family! even has some great ice cream! One of the best places I've been to in a long time so much better than I remember it being. I always like coming here when I'm in the mood for some good food. Great place when you got 20$ to spend. If you want a good wholesome time go to this one. The store looks real nice and it's pretty big. The employees are really helpful and friendly. All of this included with how good the food was perfect choice for dinner. Reminds me so much of my childhood. Ever had the thought that you want a night on the town with some great food? This is the perfect option has all the food for kids even has cheaper bowls for kids, even has ice cream for the little kiddos. I was looking for a "different" so called place to eat. The Mongolian style food was perfect. As you walk in you will get to choose by yourself what food you want. The selection, in my eyes, was great. After that you give your bowl to the cook to cook it right in front of you. Which is a plus. Many different variation of foods you can choose from and they all taste great! I found one thing that did lack in the restaurant. The Mongolian feel was not there. It feels that if you are sitting in a normal restaurant. Other than the food there is not much variation of culture in it. All in all the service and the cooking was great. The staff was so friendly and did everything they could to help you. It was a delicious meal and I would definitely recommend this to people who are trying to branch out their food tastes. read more

Early Sunday afternoon and the placed was packed. I was thinking, this must be great Both sides of the selections bar had a waiting line. My wife had been here and with her help, we loaded up a bowl and got in line at the grill. When our turn came, I asked for my noodles to be well done and watched as the "cook" took my selections for two trips around the huge round grill. My heaping bowl had turned into half a bowl of steaming great smelling veggies and barley warm noodles. I should have taken it back, but there was still a line waiting for their food to get pushed around the grill so I tried to get past the uncooked noodles and find some veggies. THEY MAKE YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN CARRY OUT BOX! And, they won't let you use your own carryout box. I have gone here several times, the last time was before they had this policy. Being environmentally friendly I brought my own carryout box.When the cashier asked me if I wanted to buy a box I said no thanks, I brought my own. She said that health department rules did not allow this. I told her I was going to put my food into my box at the end of my meal at my table,not at the food bar. She said it was the rules and she rang me up for a 50 cent box anyway. I like the food, it is pricey to pay $13 for a bowl of veggies and tofu (I am vegetarian) but it has options. I will continue to go here, I just won't let them know about my personal box that I will carry in my purse for my leftovers. read more

It was my first time trying this place today and I was super impressed. I drive past it all the time on my way to the airport and have always been curious. I was a little nervous because I've tried other Mongolian grills before that were set up just like this one and they have never tasted that great. I'm also allergic to nuts and no matter how many times I tell the people at other Mongolian grills...i almost always have an allergic reaction. I wish I got the awesome host's name because she was super helpful to me the whole time I was there. Whenever I looked like I didn't know what I was doing she would come over and help me out. I also wish there was a tip jar in front because I would have loved to tip her for her awesome customer service! This place not only had great customer service, but also great food! I got my food to-go but this is pretty much how the place works: you have different options on the size of the bowl you can get to fill up. I got the small bowl but it was enough for two meals for me. They have good meat choices, yes the meat is raw and cold but that is why it stays fresh! Then they have different veggies to choose from and 3 types of noodles. You pile as much food as you can inside that bowl and they actually encourage you to cheat to get more food! They give you pieces of wax paper so that you can literally smash the food down and fit more inside the bowl. You can pile it up as high as you want...just as long as it isn't spilling all over the place. Then there is the AWESOME sauce bar. You can make your own sauce by mixing them together, or you can follow their easy instructions that show you how to make specific sauces! I told the cook that I was allergic to peanuts and without hesitation he cleaned the entire grill for me to make sure I didn't get any traces in my food. I also got one box to take either brown rice or white rice home and to-go soup bowl for a side of soup (the spicy beef was soooo good) and a drink. As you can tell I was very impressed by this place and will be returning again very soon! I went to this location for the first time yesterday and I am very impressed. The food was amazing and the price was more than fair. You get a lot of good food for the price. Also everything looked and tasted so fresh. The restaurant looks very clean as did the restroom which is also very important to me. I look forward to going back there again, nice place. read more

Yesterday was my third visit to YC's in a bit over a month. The first time was at the location on McClintock in Tempe for a work meeting. The second was in Scottsdale after the Fitzgerald Charity Softball game. Then, the third, yesterday at this location. My first two attempts I learned from; creating new sauce combination, different bowl size, and strategically picking the veggies that complement my taste. To say the least, third time is a charm. I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say the food is overpriced. You must use the little wax paper sheets to your advantage and pile on enough food to create a take out box for lunch the next day, that is what I did this time around. I am a tea fanatic, so I am glad they have free refills. The drinks come with the entree as well as palette cleansing ice cream. There is a near endless amount of combinations, I appreciate the fact that this location had different seasoning shakers available. There are also sauce experts that can assist you. You can also never go wrong with endless sweet and sour sauce paired with wonton chips. The staff was so friendly and constantly checking on us, something I appreciate, working in the same industry. Today me, my sister, brother, and mom came to YC's for her Mother's Day lunch and it was amazing! I've never had it before, and I was pleasantly surprised!! There are so many selections of delicious meats and fresh veggies I was in heaven. The staff was so friendly and the service was great! I have visited this location previously for lunch and always had a great experience. Generally, walk up to the cashier - place my order, receive a military discount (thank you YC's), pay and on my way. Today's visit was different, we were greeted by Alicia. She took our order, we paid and on our way. This is when this visit was elevated, Alicia walked with us to make sure our experience was going well. Loading frozen meat into a bowl takes up valuable space. Alicia hands us wax paper "use this to smash it down, make more room". Apparently, I have not been using all available tools. Bonus for us! Load up veggies and noodles followed by the wax paper smash. Alicia comes back around to check on us as we stare at the oil/sauces options. She asks, "what flavors do you prefer"? I want spicy but savory, boom she whips out a bowl and gets all "mad scientist" with the sauces and oils. After receiving the final product, it was superb. This review seems to be all about Alicia and you are right. In my experience, the employees of any restaurant can either improve or destroy the reason why we return or avoid.  The food at YCs is already good but now it's better knowing good employees are there to assist. I've been to the one at Pavilions in North Scottsdale so I think I'm a little pampered in that respect. However, I wasn't disappointed in the least by the food. What I always do is fill my bowl with meats of all styles! Turkey, beef, fish, and smash it down with the papers provided. PUSH heavily! After that, I top it off with veggies, and it always gets very ugly but fun. I smash smash smash and compress. You can't get it wrong, you really can't. Follow your heart, and put what YOU want in that bowl. The sauces are the awesome part too! This location lets you use a separate bowl for the sauces, which the one in north scottsdale didn't. I threw what I wanted into the bowl, swirled it up, tasted it a bit to make sure, then went to the end and handed it to the guys to cook it up. They did a good job, and the only real difference between the different stores is the presentation style. The one in north Scottsdale is more presentation based and the seating is less fast-food style. This store is quite fast-food style looking in my opinion, but that doesn't matter to me. I ate my food, put it into a to-go container for lunch the next day afterwards, and I was golden. Would I go again? You're damned right. read more

I am a fan of Mongolian grills but this one creeps me out a little by not cleaning the grill between customers. They also wipe the seats and tables with the same towels. They don't seem to observe the same rules we're all taught. read more

I was so happy to find a very good Mongolian BBQ because they are rare. The vegis are fresh, sauces are very delicious. My second time there they were extremely busy and the food piled around the grills was disgusting and wasteful. Staff is very friendly and helpful, could not ask for better people. I could not help but wonder since the sauces and every bin was so deep that how often they are changed or is fresh constantly piled on top. Food is still wonderful! The not so Yum is the frozen dessert, it has a very weird taste to it and I skipped it second time there, that is how nasty it tastes. Other places have dairy free and cones. Maybe this has some strange ingredient that I cannot choke down which is rare also. read more

I recently visited YC'S on Power and Ray. It was something that i had been looking forward to as I had never had anything Mongolian before. My sister had told me about trying YC's, she and her boyfriend told me that it was very good so I thought I would try it for myself. As most people probably would be, I had no idea what to expect. As I first walked into YC's, I was impressed with how clean it was. I was greeted by a girl in the front of the store who asked me if I had ever been to YC's before. I said no, and she walked me through the process. I must admit that one negative I found about the restaurant is that the process is rather confusing. However, after the woman at the front of the store explained it, I was able to find things out much easier. After I thought I had everything figured out, I proceeded to get my bowl of noodles, meat, and vegetables together. I mixed together my own sauce, then I handed my bowl to one of the chefs. One thing that YC's has that many other restaurants don't, is the experience, it's not your typical restaurant where you order your food and wait until it is prepared. YC's makes people feel like they are taking part of the Mongolian culture. After the chef prepared my food, I was extremely happy with the quality and the taste of the food. My sister definitely gave me some good advice. I would absolutely recommend YC's to my family and friends, and I plan on doing just that. read more

We've been here 3x now, and enjoyed each visit more as we've learned different things to make meal even better each time. You have a choice of large or small bowls at the start of the buffet-style line. Make use of the papers at the beginning of the line as you can use them to compress the food in your bowl and add more. (This is not meant to sound greedy-your food will shrink when you get to grill at end). Just before the grill there is a table of small bowls and assorted fluids to make different sauces which are added to food while it's being grilled. the first 2 visits staff were very helpful in assisting us to make sauces, I assumed as they were not busy. Yesterday we visited at lunch hour and they were still helpful and friendly while somehow being everywhere at once-greeting and taking payment (done at beginning), assuring those in line, and keeping dining area clean and stocked. The available extras (rice, soup, and frozen yogurt) and drinks included are a nice touch. I don't understand people complaining about having to pay for boxes for left-overs, as a general rule stir-fry does not reheat well. We will continue to return whenever we're in area. read more

My husband LOVES this place. I think he could eat it every day. I have nothing bad to say about Mongolian Grill, but honestly, the whole "build your own bowl" thing is terrifying. I always feel like I'm going too slow for the people behind me, and I screw up my sauce every time. It gives me panic attacks. But I keep going because I'm not the only person in my family who eats. This is a LOT OF FOOD- endless noodles, meat and veggies, a soup, rice and chip bar, fill your own fountain drinks and teas, and an ice cream cone station- for an awesome price. It's one of those places where I feel like my bowl is replenishing itself while I eat, it just never gets smaller. Make sure you pay that extra 50cents for a to-go box, because you'll need it. The staff is so nice and they make sure the restaurant is clean and everything is well stocked. Overall and despite my issues with sauce and personal space in food lines, I have to give them 5 stars.
