We've been coming here for months and this has become our go-to KBBQ restaurant. We used to go to Dong Bang Grill but we like the service/food here better for marinated galbi. DB Grill was bigger and we got ignored at times. Service - They are nice even though we don't speak Korean and says they recognize us as return customers. We also found out one of the waitresses here is Northern Chinese and can speak Chinese to us. (I guess if you look like you could be Korean, they will be curious as to why you can't speak Korean.) Despite the small size and eating at prime times, we've never had to wait for a table. Appetizers - Their banchan spread is impressive. There is always something freshly fried (you pass the fryer room on the way in). Food - We always get the marinated galbi. Yes, it is on the sweeter side. We have also tried the non-marinated (didn't like it as much). If we want something lighter, we will get the bulgogi which comes in a domed setup with broth/noodles on the bottom like a moat. The stone bowl bibimbap portion size is huge. I also love the brown rice here (which is basically purple rice). Your check comes with a yogurt drink (like Yakult). The lunch specials (weekends included) are a good deal. I can't remember if they don't grill on the table for all, but I don't mind. Parking - The adjacent municipal parking lot is under construction and taking forever, so you're forced to valet and fork over a few dollars (a dollar is not enough for tip). Pretty sure I got food poisoning from the raw clam. I never seen grilled clam cooked without the shell usually only raw meats go on the hot plate seafood stays on the hard shell while grilling if I'm not mistaken. I can't sleep because my stomach hurts. Probably won't go back. Pretty sure restaurants love it when you pay in Cash. Most restaurants such as Mr. Bbq even gives you a 5% discount for paying cash. Our bill came out to $131 after taxes and we paid $150 in Cash. Apparently it was too little tip and the server asked us for more tips. Even if I had a great time, the server ruined my experience by asking us for more tips. We should of took the cash back and paid with credit card instead. read more

Good thing bc this is one of the places where they dont emphasize time limits (at least when we went), so somehow he feels better even though we never exceed 2 hrs. We've been here 2x, so it's safe for me to give a good review. Upon entering, we were always seated right away. Theres seats for party of 2 to 6/8. Place is clean and staff is nice. I'm absolutely in love w the wait staff. They are so pleasant and courteous. So, first they give you menus and explain if you're a virgin to Korean BBQs. Then, they give you hot tea, put in drink orders, and serve the sauces and sides (kimchi, pickled radish, lettuce, etc). The menu is varied w beef, seafood, pork, and poultry. Our favorites include the beef brisket, pork belly, and spicy shrimps. The reason for knocking off 1 star is bc it'd be nice for more items to be included as sides or on the menu like japchae, spicy squid, mussels, etc. Also, there is no buffet bar. But as far as the taste, it's all very good! No complaints whatsoever. Plus, they keep the food coming, and the staff is always at your service to add in orders or change out the cast iron cooking grill thingie (which didnt have to be changed). Also, it didnt get as smokey as other places I've been to. ::note** they do not have bibs, so if you eat like a neanderthal, perhaps, pack your own or hang some napkins to cover your shirt. The price is also better than other KBBQ spots. A lot of cheap (25cents) parking available around; I never had a problem finding a spot. Also, the area surrounding is very safe and friendly, so you have that option to walk around and walk off the weight you gained eating lol. The stews are made to order - make sure that you let them know how spicy you want it. The Yang Yang kalbi (beef short rib) is our usual - grilled medium/medium rare on the table. It is so tender and juicy. I am hesitant to post about them because it's my favorite kbbq place right now but a good Yelper has to share. We have been here at least six or seven times and our typical order is - 2 orders of beef belly, 1 order of hanging tender steak, 1 order of shrimp and clams, 1 order of LA kalbi and 1 order of spicy squid. If we are still hungry, we would usually go for the bulgogi or spicy pork. Besides the proteins, we usually get tofu stew, seafood pancake, steamed egg and at the end, we finish up with some kimchi noodles (it's very refreshing and a tad fishy due to the abundant seaweed in it). All these are included in the buffet price. There is only so much meat you can eat in a seating. At the other kbbq place, it's quantity over quality (the moment I ate their beef cuts, I had no desire to order more food). Ambiance is nice and clean and the waiters and owner are super friendly and nice and encourage you to eat more and almost seem disappointed when you don't. Came here recently on a week night. Pros: Food was delicious--ordered the bulgogi and yangyum galbi which were both melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The bibim nangmyun noodles were equally great, and I enjoyed all the side dishes too. The staff are attentive in assisting with cooking the meats to perfection. Cons: I felt pressured to order right away, despite there being a few empty tables in the restaurant. Wasn't sure what the rush was, but I was approached three times and asked to place my order moments after just sitting down and starting to glance at the menu. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. The portion sizes are noticeably smaller than that of a year ago. The meat, in my parties opinion, was not reflective of the prices. We left a tip (10%) that was deemed unacceptable by the hostess and she literally chased us down asking for more money. She made us feel uncomfortable and was pushing us to spend even more money after an expensive meal. There are definitely other places nearby that are better than here. I called Cast Iron and Baekjong prior to Yea Jip and both refused to take a reservation on a holiday. Yea Jip took the reservation and let us know they are BYOB. Even better! We rolled in and our table was ready and waiting for us. Iced barley tea came promptly as well as wine and beer glasses and an ice bucket. Service was amazing from start to finish. Banchan refills, attentive cooking, picture taking. You name it and they were willing to provide. Ban chan variety was numerous and very good quality. A lot of fish dishes were given to us which is rare at other places. We ordered 8 bbq entrees and it was just right for us. The prices are reasonable for the portions they give. They are more generous than other BBQs in the area. Meats were all very good quality and beef was tender. This is definitely our new BBQ spot. We had walked past this place, looking for some Korean BBQ for my boyfriends birthday, and this place hit the spot. The waiters are extremely friendly and explained how everything worked for us. They kept replenishing everything that we needed and was available when we needed them. The meats were tasty, I particularly liked the short rib, and the brisket. Unfortunately, you only get one order of short rib per person doing the all you can eat. This was the only short coming of the meal. I would have been willing to pay extra to get some more of that. I loved the radishes and the salad. The kimchi was also really yummy. I enjoyed making lettuce wraps with the various meats and toppings. They also give you sauce to dip your meats in. Their meat quality is very good and their side dishes (ban chan) that comes with the order is excellent. Their cold noodle is also very delicious as well. Yea Jip is finally opened! Have been keeping my eye on this place over the last year or so. It just opened two weeks ago and it's tough to wait any longer. The bossam platter was pretty legit. Oysters were fresh plus pork belly was tender and tasty. Portion was also much better than some of the other places. It was more than enough for two people to share.
