The decor had lots of pictures of old San Pedro mixed with a nautical theme. The music was classic rock which I really like. I chose the barbecue Tri-tip wagyu with fries without salt. I paired my lunch with a bottle of Heineken. The beer was served with a chilled glass mug and was cold. Service was excellent and very friendly. Tri-tip was good, not outstanding. I'm staying in the area for a bit and wanted to have a good breakfast. I stumbled upon this place after some Google searches and boy...it didn't disappoint. The menu is a but big but I decided on a latte and a blueberry waffle. It was heaven. The price is great and the service was also great. They made sure to keep checking on me. The waffle was so perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. The yogurt sauce on top was so yummy. It almost didn't need the syrup even though I used a little. There were SO many things I wanted to try on my first visit. At the suggestion of the owner/chef who was bussing tables and cleaning, I went with the El Pollo Verde Omelet. DELISH. You can taste the freshness and authentic flavors. I had a choice of side and a bread. So many choices! I got Spanish brown jasmine rice. So good. Not your traditional Spanish rice but full of flavor. My bread was hard to pick too but I went with rye. The meal is massive and sooooo reasonably priced. I'm mad and sad I don't live closer but my waistline is definitely happy I don't. Savannah was super sweet. Very nice server and patient with all of my first timer questions. Immediately upon entry, I noticed that the restaurant was fairly full for a Monday morning so that was a good sign. I was seated immediately but then it took a minute for my server to come and check on me, even though I mentioned I was ready to order. I took my mom and her helper to see the Korean Friendship Bell. After admiring the craftsmanship of the bell, and enjoying the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, we were ready to eat! Yummm. I've been here 2x now and I'm in love ha Tony is great and he recommended the Reuben. (I subbed cole slaw for sauerkraut). He recommended Mac n cheese as the side. It also came w mustard and a pickle and a side of Cole slaw (which was so good). I didn't get my corned beef fix for st Patrick's day so super happy to get some home made pastrami. Way better than the deli pastrami at other places (classics) and more reasonably priced and comes with a side compared to the sandwich shops (saloon and busy bees). Service was great both times. Never rushed. Nice ambience. Nice music. Covered Outdoor seating too. Loved the crunchy French toast for breakfast (I didn't need the fruit). It was so big! The biscuits and gravy was amazing. I'm so glad that when I ordered a machaca burrito I asked for the rice on the side because I would have been totally disappointed. But they didn't tell me that the burrito was going to be grilled which it was and they didn't tell me the rice was not Mexican rice it was more like a thick green rice or a brown rice that tasted just awful and it arrived cold the burrito was decent the inside the only thing I have to complain about is the machaca tasted more like barbecue than it did machaca it was in a barbecue sauce. My guess ordered the slice tri-tip which was not sliced it was diced and tiny little cubes that were very burnt and hardly any meat in it with coleslaw on a little bun and was not appetizing to my guests and the chilaquiles Verde we're not so great it was more like a can tomatillo sauce poured over already cooked corn tortilla chips out of a bag I suppose the salsa was not good it was tomatoey and the Chile Verde sauce they put on the side was just as bad as what they put on the chilaquiles. I have to rate this a negative one as I will definitely not be back here not sure how they get the reviews they do to give them four or five stars but it's not happening. read more

Generous portions and incredibly tasty! The staff was exceptionally welcoming. The establishment was tidy and adequately staffed. There's an outdoor seating area too. Everything was superb! Well I'll start by saying this is probably one of my favorite finds of 2024! Looks a little run down from the street but boy looks can be deceiving. We've been on a cruise ship for four days and this by FAR the best food we've had since we set sail lol, but that's a story for another time. I had the squaw bread French toast which sounded interesting and it was very good but it was by far the low point of the meal, along with the pancake on the side. Both were perfectly serviceable but the chicken fried Steak and the Huevos Rancheros my companions ordered were absolutely amazing. The chicken fried steak was delicately breaded and perfectly cooked, the potatoes on the side were almost au gratin but had peppers and onions in them and were delicious. We asked for a jalapeño on top and they were happy to accommodate us. 10/10 The Huevos Rancheros were perfectly prepared with an absolutely delicious red sauce. They were served with a salsa on the side that was very fresh with lots of herbal notes and cilantro. Our service was good, but we did have to wait a while. But it's not really worth mentioning. Our servers brought everything we asked for including orange marmalade for the English muffins. We ate outside so I can't really speak to the indoor ambiance but outside there's a fair amount of street noise and maybe the music was a tad loud for our liking but was very pleasant. We met the owner John by chance who told us this place has been here 37 years and he brings his eggs from his ranch, and they were noticeably higher quality than the average egg. He absolutely cares about the business and his customers and employees, obviously he tajes pride in his craft. He told us he has employees who have been working for him that whole time and that speaks volumes. That's another thing, we told him it was so cheap!! We all had drinks, three entrees, and several sides and our bill was 45 dollars. Unbelievable in 2024, Absolutely recommend!!! read more

Visited San Pedro Cafe for the first time in decades. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of fries. I was very impressed with both the sandwich and the fries. The fries look like they are heavily seasoned, but they are not. They were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Perfect fries. We also ordered pancakes with bacon,eggs and sausage. All the breakfast items were great. Absolutely no complaints on the food. I would go back again for the food because they have unique entrees that you don't find at most other places and though I didn't order any of them this time, I definitely will next time. Unfortunately, I would not go back for the service, though. We ordered a chocolate milk. The bus boy ended up coming back with a cup of coffee. My brother reminded him that he ordered chocolate milk. The bus boy shook his head as he did remember that's what my brother ordered. He came back with a regular glass of milk. Again, my brother said no, I ordered chocolate milk. The third time, the bus boy got it right. The waitress was okay. She wasn't mean, but felt treated nonchalant as a customer. There was a younger lady though, who was a helper and she was excellent with customer service. I don't think she was a waitress, but she would make a phenomenal waitress. I wish I had cash on me, but I didn't cuz I would have left her the tip. We agreed that the food was good enough to give us a reason to return even though the customer service was not what we would look forward to when we go back. Perhaps it was an off morning. This is probably the best breakfast in San Pedro. They open early and close early (7am-3pm) and they have just about everything. Omelets are always on point and you can build your own. I always get their strawberry lemonade but their homemade orange juice is also super good!! The chicken fried steak is great and they have tv's all around so you can enjoy the news or a football game or two. Prices are very reasonable.. I think for two people breakfast is under $30 the service is very fast!!! They didn't have any tables outside, but I was able to quickly find a table inside. Had the weekday pancake special this day and it was delicious.
