It was nice to finally try the other Brazilian restaurant in town, especially since I meant to come here a few months ago but ended up at the other one. Whoops! We came in and were sat promptly but there was a little delay in us receiving water. By the time the server came, we put in an order of Dadinhos de Tapioca, Empanadas de bife, a passion margarita, and a regular caipirinha. The drinks came first and right away I knew something was off. My drink tasted like orange juice and fruit in it that wasn't supposed to be there. I think they mistakenly gave me a sangria. Since we couldn't find our server, I walked down to the bar and informed them of the error. She agreed that what was in it wasn't right and offered to remake it. The "correct" drink still tasted off, but I didn't bother asking it to be remade. On a lighter note, the apps were delicious. The empanadas were light and were the perfect little bite before our main. The tapioca bites were equally delicious, but slightly addicting. In fact, it's def something you can't just eat one or two of and be satisfied because you'll def be wanting more! After we scarfed those down, it was time for our mains. We each ordered a skewer; Mine with shrimp, chimichurri, black beans and rice, and collard greens. He got the steak and other accompaniments. While the shrimp was good, I was expecting the chimichurri to be on it and not on the side as a dipping sauce. The beans and rice were good, but I loved the greens. Hospitable, family owned business. This place opens at 5pm. I was there by 6pm and it was already more than halfway full! Each time I'm there, the space is filled with laughter and bright convos. Cute spot with very friendly service! The food was excellent. I got one of the steak skewers and my partner got the ribeye special with cheesy potatoes. His was the best steak I've had in a while. The chimichurri sauce and the potatoes were also excellent. The only feedback would be to include a specials menu, so we can see the price of the specials. We didn't realize his dish was $60, and compared to my $19 plate, that was a huge disparity that was unexpected. It was wonderful so we don't regret getting it but would have liked to know that the cost would be considerably higher up front. I really enjoyed my first visit here! Definitely a very intimate dinner spot for a more relaxed dinner or a nice date night. I haven't been to a Brazilian restaurant before so I was excited to try something new. Plenty of street parking outside of the restaurant. I went during the week so it wasn't too crowded in the restaurant, but it definitely was busy. The menu offers a lot of different things for you to try if you want to have a lighter dish like skewers or a more filling entrée. There are plenty of options and also some good options for non-meat eaters. My snapper was really tasty, the relish and guacamole added some good additional flavor. Service was great! We left close to the restaurant closing for the evening and one of the owners offered us some hot chocolate that is served in the upstairs area of the restaurant. read more

Taco tuesday! I finally got to yemanja and let me tell you: this place is dangerous. I live next door and every night theyre open the tantalizing aromas make my dinner seem like baby food. I finally got their taco tuesday last week... I am still having naughty dreams about their beef tacos. We had their street corn, chicken, al pastor, and beef tacos. First and foremost the elote is so beautiful. Creamy, rich, and the perfect pairing to some street tacos. The tacos are amazing. Corn tortillas loaded with meats, cilantro, and onion. Simple, well executed. Every taco was great, but, once more, the beef shined for me. Super citrusy with enough salt to cut through. A perfect char with a warm, grilled tortilla. The place was jumping with neighbors and the workers were shaking margs with big smiles and better service. Wow, actually loved. Not one to usually get excited over a steak dish but the picanha sort of blew me away. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce it came in paired with chimichurri made for such a flavorful bite. The grilled skewers for two was admittedly overpriced at $56 ($10 up-charge for shrimp) but the bacon-wrapped chicken was delicious and so juicy. Torradinhas Leme, Brazilian bruschetta and the special fried cheese appetizer. Both were excellent for dinner we had three different entrees Frango Minas (gluten free)chicken in a four cheese sauce with rice, Picanha na Brasa - (8oz) (GF) best Brazilian steak, and Espetinho de Picanha (GF) sirloin skewer and a burger with fries for our 6 year old Luca. Children's menu could be helpful. The burger and amount of fries was more than an average adult could handle. Had Brazilian tiramisu for dessert. The Brazil curry stew (Moqueca) was incredible. Before the menu change, they did not offer a vegetarian version of this. I'd order this every time. We also tried the tapioca bites for the appetizer. So I attended a gin festival event this past Sunday and the Yemanja Brazil food truck was there for us to order and buy the food. The food truck was located in the back of the building. We ordered two entrees and the yucca fries. This is my first time trying the yucca fries and they were delicious. Wowowow! Been wanting to try Yemanja Brasil for quite some time now, and I absolutely loved it. This review is about their food truck experience and their food. I did not have a dine in experience, but am really looking forward to doing so. I tried the food truck at an event at Wild Carrot. It was a gorgeous day outside- the perfect kind of food truck day so it really fit the vibe. There was a bit of a line when I went to go order, but it moved fairly quickly. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because everything sounded so incredible, but ultimately ended up ordering the beef empanadas. I waited about 5 minutes, which I've waited much longer at food trucks. They have it down to an incredible system. The beef empanadas were amazing. You can very much tell they're homemade and made to order. They're super crispy and the filling inside was the perfect amount of spice and deliciousness. I think Yemanja is THE BEST Brazilian food in St. Louis! This locally owned restaurant is such a gem and I hope you get to try it! I have tried a variety of their appetizers, like their Yucca fries which is a must, and if they have them on appetizer special, their tapioca cheese bites are TO DIE FOR! So delicious! For the main course, my fav is the chicken in a cream sauce with rice and raisins, I know, raisins, but trust me, it is DELISH! Also have tried their delicious beef dishes and they have some great seafood and fish entrees too. My only issue is the hours, they are only open on Friday-Sunday and they are only open for dinner from 5-10pm. I think it might be 4-9pm on Sunday. It would be nice to check them out for lunch on the weekends just because I don't tend to go out much for dinner. They also have a food truck that attends St. Louis events and they also host Bazil St. Louis on their property and that is a must! One of the best international events in St. Louis! read more

While I love every single thing here, my absolute favorite thing is the Franco Minas, which is shredded chicken in a four cheese cream sauce, served over a perfectly seasoned rice and sprinkled with raisins. I prefer my rice on the side and extra raisins, pro tip!! My other favorite food here is when they have the Dadinhos special, which are tapioca cheese bites that have a wonderful crunch on the outside and an interesting cheese texture on the inside. This small, yet colorful place was the location of my date this evening. When I typically hear Brazilian restaurant, my mind goes to steakhouse buffet style, but this was a different experience. I called in an evening reservation and was able to be seated immediately when I came by. There was an indoor section, however you enter the restaurant via the patio. They gave the option to eat inside or outside. We chose outside and was able to sit in a semi covered patio where they had fans to control weather and candles to repel pests. The waitress was very kind and gave good descriptions for every item we questioned. The menu was online. I ordered Beef Empanadas for appetizers (flaky and flavored). They had a special watermelon drink using a Brazilian rum. It was good, and a bit strong. I had a delicious black bean soup and my date had a salad. The entrees included the Xin Xim de Galinha - which was grilled chicken and shrimp in a spicy sauce and rice. It has a nice kick, so if you really like spice, i recommend it. Frango Danielle looked and tasted very well, and the fries were seasoned and delicious. This was a good atmosphere. They had, what I believe, boss nova playing in the background. Solid Brazilian restaurant we came across while in STL. Both my sister and I ordered the feijoada and did take out. The food did take a long time, however no worries for us because they gave us warning when we ordered over the phone. The feijoada and its staples were good - rice, farofa and beans (infused with delicious spices and pork). The rest was average/mediocre for me - collards, salad and bread. Some of it is pretty authentic to Brazil while in some ways that break from that, which I didn't really understand. I've been to Brazil 3 times and my fiancé is Brazilian, so I've had authentic feijoada cooked at home. One of the biggest downside for me is the cost - $21 for feijoada. Granted - it is a TON of food, easy to make 2 meals of. However, don't really understand why it is quite so expensive, especially when I'd consider average. Regardless, definitely a nice Brazilian restaurant and good to start with to get some (relatively) authentic Brazilian cuisine. Worth checking out. I just read in Sauce Magazine about the changes the owners under went earlier this year. I came here to say it shows! We first ate here in 2019, we enjoyed it but thought it was expensive- a once in awhile date night kind of vibe. This time, we stopped in on Mother's Day- it was busy but not packed. Yemanja Wood Fired Grill- Aruba (Thursday 5/4) In general this restaurant is very unique and has a very interesting menu with various food options that you won't find elsewhere if you love fine dining and food this is recommended. Wife enjoyed the "Filo Dough with Goat Cheese" starter and "Ribeye Steak" for main dish. She loved the Goat Cheese appetizer. She said that the Ribeye Steak was probably the best she has ever had in her life. I had the"Caribbean Calamari & Octopus" and "Stuffed Pork Tenderloin" main dish. I was disappointed with the "Calamari and Octopus" starter since the octopus was very rubbery and hard to chew and I had to remove a couple of pieces from my mouth. The Calamari was ok but nothing special. Pork Tenderloin was very nicely prepared and presented. However nothing exceptional. I obviously did not order the best dishes on the menu. We ended the meal by sharing the Chocolate Molton Lava Cake- Took a while to get prepared, but definitely wonderfull desert. Service was good and attentive.
