Yesterday's Diner is the ideal place for a casual breakfast with friends or family. One thing that makes this place great is that it's small and not too overwhelming. The service is personalized and friendly. There are several booths where you can sit and relax. I usually order a broccoli omelette with home fries and toast. I have been coming here for almost 15 years. This establishment has always been so kind to me and my family. The waiters always greet us with a smile and ask how we are doing. At this point they even know what we like to order. The food for me has always been good and I am never disappointed. This is my daughters favorite place to eat breakfast after her sports on a Saturday morning. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros today for the first time and being of Mexican decent he is usually critical about Mexican food and he loved it. I've been going here for years. I'm not sure if these reviews are exaggerated or if they caught the place on a bad day. I've never once had food that was inedible, cold, terrible etc. Actually, quite the contrary. The food here is very good. Everything has a spanish taste to it. Their burgers and fries are off the hook. Their steaks are very good as well. My wife orders seafood here all the time and she says it's great. Their sides are really good too like the rice, salads, soup (beef barley is insane). We're regulars here and the staff knows us pretty well. They're all very friendly and accommodating. My wife and I have visited yesterday's diner a few times over the years and have found for the most part they're ok. There are many selections on the menu so you're not limited per se. recently we went for an early morning breakfast we were seated right away the waitress was very friendly there was a little bit of the language barrier because we have to ask twice to get water but other than that it was okay as far as service. NOTE to the Manager please clean the lamps above each table they seem to be very dusty and dirty. The food is a little bit on the pricey side. The French toast was good I had the bacon and eggs with french fries and wheat toast with the coffee everything came out to about $20 you get a 10% discount when you check in with Yelp. this restaurant offers delivery also and it's pretty convenient. One of the best late night diner experiences I've had since college!! After a long night I stopped in here for a meal I haven't had since I was in my 20's! I had a heaping plate of cheese fries and gravy!! Plus a bacon stuffed grilled cheese!! Omg it was so unbelievably fingerpicking delicious! They had to roll me out! But no regrets! So close to a five star but have to deduct for a few reasons. Yesterday's Diner is a case of "Don't judge a book by its cover". At first glance, the place looks run down and unloved. Lights dangling out, torn vinyl booth seats,etc... It's seen better days. However, the food was good. My waffle was cooked perfectly and arrived in a timely manner. It was crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Eggs were fine, if unspectacular. Bacon was not crispy, seemed like it came out of a warming tray made hours earlier. I almost sent it back, but I was too busy oooing and ahhhing over my terrific waffle to complain about the limp bacon. They seem to have an expansive menu, but I'd recommend sticking to either the breakfast foods, or salads,sandwiches & burgers. I'm so glad I'm not the only person to report they had a terrible time here. They must have switched management because this place used to be amazing and open 24/7 now it's open from 6am-8pm?? I understand covid but most places here have resumed normal hours again. My boyfriend and I went here to eat before they announced their new hours, we called before and we were told the kitchen closed at 8. We pop in at 7 because it doesn't take us more than 30 minutes to usually eat and when we walked in the owner was demanding that we take our order to go. There were 3 other tables seated. This diner is okay. The decor is really retro and cute, but the food doesn't stack up. The place is run by an older man who doesn't really seem to care much about you. There doesn't seem to be a busboy(who refills water/coffee) so be prepared to wait. The food is okay, but their dessert menu is kind of limited for what you would expect from a diner. Even if I am in the New Hyde Park area, I will drive further(to Westbury or East Meadow) because I have had much better experiences at the diners there. read more

One of the better diners I've been to and it's my go-to spot when the late night hunger strikes. I'm a huge fan of their eggs benedict. The coffee is better than your average diner fare. The staff is very friendly and checks on you often. It can get very packed on weekends during breakfast and lunch, but otherwise, I'd say it's a top notch diner. read more

Awful! I have been ordering from them all year and recently someone in my family had a bad experience. He ordered something with extra cheese, paid for extra cheese, and received one slice of cheese! He called hoping they would just say "we're sorry" or next time you order we will take a few bucks off. Nope the guy was adamant his cook put extra cheese. He was downright rude! So my brother drove there to show him his philly cheese steak that he paid for extra cheese had hardly anything and they guy refused to even look at it and threatened to call the cops. Depending on what you order, the food can be good or bad. I've ordered from here quite a few times and have had some food that was to my liking and some that wasn't. For example, some burgers I order with mushrooms on them--the mushrooms canned; you can taste that they are. Others have mentioned that the vegetables aren't fresh... well, unfortunately, I have found some not so good lettuce with my burger today... However, the burger DID taste good today, but not the one I previously had with mushrooms on it. The onion rings are those frozen ones that you can buy in bulk, nothing overly special.
