Always a great neighborhood spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Today I had the loaded grilled cheese, which had both cheddar and American cheese, avocado, egg, tomato on sourdough bread. It was very good. In fact half a sandwich was enough, and I took the rest home. They also let me swap out french fries for broccoli to save calories. my friend had the mushroom Swiss omelette with a side of grilled tomatoes instead of home fries also very good sandwich was a daily special so the lentil soup came only about $15 total and it was two meals worth. Food: The avocado toast consists of a thin smear of avocado, goat cheeze, and a bed of arugula, topped with a poached egg. Taste is good but not my idea of an avocado toast. It was disappointing because of the lack of avocado in it. Their bacon is crispy. This is memorable, but I can't have that much bacon, personal diet preference. The coffee they serve is not the best, but if you add a sweetener and milk, it's acceptable. They handed me the bill as i was still trying to finish my meal. I did not ask for it. It is a good diner but the real jewel of this place is an amazing waitress Becky- she is the most friendly, professional and beautiful waitress you can ever wish for. So far, this is our favorite diner in the area. We tried the Haven Diner (which went out of business) and the Landmark Diner, but neither measured up to this one. PW Diner has GF bread and many other choices for me. I like their breakfasts, and their burgers. They have very good service. My husband likes their lox & bagel, and we both like their mimosas. We go there almost every Saturday. Their pastries and donuts look yummy. I wish they had more GF pastries, and some GF pancakes. But these are minor issues. Well we're to start first I'll review the food and place, food was good, good breakfast, service was ok had tot ask for coffee refills each time...asked for hot sauce and a coffee and the waitress told me 1 at a time please..OK...the real issue was my daughter is in military service academy and one of the things they can do is train a guide dog for the blind, the dog has his guide dog vest on and she had her paperwork that states she can have the dog with her...the manager rudely walked by and told us to push the dog under the table..he then proceeded to talk to the other manager staring at us, pointing and acting like a complete jerk...I wonder if he would treat a blind person with there guide dog that way...the whole breakfast he stared, made the whole thing uncomfortable and we will never return...It's sad in this day an age to find a younger person who is so ignorant to the world around them...my daughter doing a good deed for someone shouldn't make her feel bad...and this jerk made her feel bad...so shame on you and people beware. Ordered delivery from their "PW Diner" online menu. I was charged $19.45 for a turkey club sandwich when the menu clearly states 16.95. A burger deluxe should only be $13.50 and was charged 15 Was charged .50 more for 2 muffins when I only asked for 1. When I went into the diner to talk to the manager I was met with resistance. "Oh you must be looking at an old menu. You sure it was on our website"? When I said yes and tried to show them their menu, screenshots on my phone, and their error, they walked away..... I've been going there and online ordering for at least 10 years. To do this to a good loyal customer is unacceptable. It was their problem to fix not the customers. Instead of crediting me apologizing they tried to give me the in dining menu as some sort of consolation. People ordering from home are being charged more without knowing. FIX YOUR PROBLEM instead of blaming the customer who's at home looking at YOUR online menu. A good honest business would never walk away from a good customer. It just proves they know the online menu is wrong and dont care about customer. $19.45 for a sandwich is beyond ridiculous. So is $15 for a hamburger when according to THEIR menu it should only be $13.50. Never going there again. Good luck with their games! read more

I've been a customer of the Port Washington Diner for many years. I order the same item all the time - a cheese burger deluxe medium rare and Sprite. They cook the burger medium rare correctly about 65% of the time. The rest of the time I send it back. I finally told myself that if they mess it up again I will never return. Tonight was not busy at the diner. I placed my usual order. The burger was medium well and dry. I knew there was going to be a problem when the food was served in less then 5 minutes - it was an old burger sitting on the grille. Some people may say it's my fault for not sending it back. I've done that too many times. I shouldn't have to tell a diner how to cook a burger. It's not a steak, chicken, fisher, or veal. IT'S JUST A BURGER! And by the way, the fries taste like old cardboard. The Sprite was good. Time to look elsewhere to eat. read more

I always tend to stop by this place bc its one of the few places thats open later in the evening (10ish). Its your typical diner and are open to substitutions on the menu. There is constant traffic of people coming in and out, so thats always a good sign. This time, I order French Onion soup and a chicken cutlet sandwich with fries. Had a Sunday brunch at this long time Port Washington establishment after church. Was crowded upon our 11:30am arrival, as expected. We were a party of two - each ordered an omelette which was fine. We had a gentleman as our waiter - server #9. Aside from an initial bad attempt at a joke after we sat down, he was fine until I asked for a coffee refill. He then told us we had to vacate the table because people were waiting. I think by that time it was about 12:30, so we were there for an hour. As we were wrapping up anyway, the waiter's order to vacate didn't change our departure plans rather it just pissed us off. Been patronizing this diner since it first opened years ago - first time anybody told us to "get out". Will try the Haven Diner next time I'm in Port, or one of the many other dining choices in the area. read more

This has become my late night haunt when I crave a little greasy something. The decor is bright and inviting and the entire staff is super friendly and accommodating. My faves here are the Matzoh ball soup, they actually use schmaltz in the balls! Their tuna melt is phenomenal and I've actually enjoyed, a diner staple btw, their chicken parmigiana. They also make some delicious chocolate or vanilla egg cream too. Their ingredients seem fresh and the menu run the gamut of traditional breakfast faves to Greek/Italian staples to the usual diner fare of disco fries. They aren't adverse to making exceptions or special requests when asked either. It's a very casual neighborhood spot with lots of locals who come and are greeted by first name and hugs. read more
