Quick service, yummy food (pork cheeks and long beans) the ambience was fun. Our server was quick to answer any questions and made sure our food came out fast
I do a lot of my shopping at Market City and always notice when new signs pop up. This one got great reviews right away, so I was thankful when I received a gift card to come in and try it. It's located in the corner next to Earl Sandwich and where Long's used to be. There's free parking in either lot. It was busy! Lots of happy customers were eating inside with more waiting for takeout. They have a waiting area outside for tables, put your name in inside. They ask people limit their time to 90 min during busy times, we ended up staying until closure. We ordered a nice variety of items: beef spicy fried rice, shrimp wonton soup, broccoli with oyster sauce, and chicken curry. We loved everything, different backgrounds of the dishes led for a fun combination. The big draw seemed to be the various crab dishes, as well as the sizzling steak. I'd definitely like to try those on a return visit. It's BYOB for alcohol. We tired a lemon iced tea, and a lemon fruit drink and enjoyed both with the spicy and salty foods. Our servers were so friendly and fast to attend. Prices are reasonable for large portions and great quality. I'll definitely be back!
Normally long waits if you don't book a reservation so make sure you book in advance. There a smaller restaurant and kind of tight in space. We were lucky to get in on a Wednesday evening. I hope they expand soon! We ordered so much food they had to move us to a bigger table. We tried the Curry Crab (of course), Thai style pork jowl, beef fried rice, salted egg chicken wings, and their milk tea and lemon iced tea with the cute bear ice. This place is so good, a little expensive, but worth every penny. My favorite was the curry crab and the salted egg chicken wings! I love their curry sauce and the naan bread. I typically dislike chicken wings at Asian restaurants like this but they really did their thing with the batter and sauce. The fried rice was a little plain but overall a nice balance to every meal. The sauce with their pork jowl was too good! I need the recipe.
Would come back over and over again! 4 stars for some dishes being a bit expensive for what it is, and don't expect the cuisine to be authentic in any way, it's a fuse between Chinese/HK/Thai/Hawaii. However, every dish I've had was always delicious. + Food: Crab Curry is their most popular. Love their curry sauce (tastes similar to Thai yellow curry), but the crab doesn't have a lot of meat for a $80 dish. They didn't have a shell cracker so eating was tricky. Sambal veggies, Salt pepper fish, fried rice, curry fries were all delicious and well-flavored. + Ambience: Medium sized restaurant with good amount of tables. Usually no wait but can't say for peak dinner time. Good service + Location: in the Foodland plaza with plenty of parking spots
Yi xin is known for their crab, but really, everything here was excellent. The restaurant is small and in the space that used to be Anytime Cafe - I'd recommend making reservations because a lot of people were waiting outside when we left. We ordered 8 dishes for 6 people which was the perfect amount. Our standouts were the garlic onion crab, capital pork chops (so so tender!), salted fish chicken eggplant pot, and salted egg stir fried chicken wings. The salted fish fried rice was just okay, but other than that, everything was excellent. Great new addition to market city. We will absolutely be back!
Finding that perfect spot for a family-style feast in Honolulu? Yi Xin Cafe in Market City is an absolute must-visit. Their fusion approach to Cantonese, Malaysian, and Singaporean flavors is honestly next level. You cannot leave without trying the Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Wings-the crunch and flavor are unreal. This place has been going Viral so o had to try while in Hawaii! The restaurant is located in small strip plaza surrounded by Foodland and other restaurants. It is small but cozy inside the servers were pleasant and the menu was diverse Asian cuisine. The prices were reasonable and portions were generous. I enjoyed everything I had! My favorite was the Crab Curry which included a whole fresh out the tank Dungeness ! The flavors were to die for must try it is not cheap but fresh and so delicious! I was able to split this dish because it was massive in size and for two people to eat it was about $120 for Crab Curry, Mongolian beef fried rice, and egg yolk, chicken wings. 10/10 highly recommend!
I saw local UTuber Sean Kaleponi (The Hawaiian Traveler) eat at YXC, and I said I gotta hit this place. Its located in the Foodland Mall in Kaimukī. We had to order one of their sig crab dishes, and we rounded out the meal w/ beef and long beans, sweet & sour pork belly, eggplant and fried rice. The crab was amazing! The curry sauce was so deep & complex. In addition, the crab was fresh bc they have tanks in the restaurant. Of course I called dibs on the head, and it was packed with goodies. I added rice to the head (in Ilocano this is called "labay", adding rice to soup or broth to extend the meal). I was in heaven. The other dishes were all big portions and very good. The meat was tender, and the veggies were fresh and crunchy. I believe all the other dishes were ~ $20/each. The staff was super nice. We didn't have a res, but luckily we were seated in 20 min on a busy Sun night. Regarding the dining area, its tight but comfy. You have to wash your hands after, and the bathrooms are clean. I will def return the next time I come home. I want to try another crab dish (about 8 versions), and build a meal around the crab.
Update on Yi Xin Cafe today my brother in law and sister treated lunch . Had their sizzling beef and Mince pork string beans which was delicious. We ordered something new shrimp curry my brother in law said that was good .support local
Met a friend for a late lunch. I arrived just before 3:30 on a Monday afternoon. There were no diners but the cafe was open. I was greeted warmly and seated at a table with existing settings. The waitress brought two iced waters without prompting, and checked on me a couple of times. Other diners started trickling in one after another. My friend ended up being late so I decided to order for us both. The waitress was very patient with my questions. I decided to order mostly from the Chef's Specials menu: salted egg chicken fried rice, black pepper sizzling steak, salted egg yolk chicken wings (wasn't a chef's special but fellow Yelper Violet B said it's good). Friend wanted the curry crab with naan coz she was influenced, until she learned it's $78 per crab. Also it'd take 15-20 minutes to prepare since the crab would need to first be picked from the tank (she had to rush off somewhere else after our appointment) Food didn't take long; they were served not long after she arrived. Everything was tasty and portions were good for 3-4 persons. I had looked forward to the chicken wings most, but it fell a little short. They were crispy no doubt and perfectly fried, but I wish there were chunks of actual salted yolk in the sauce, which would have made it creamier. The wings weren't coated in the sauce either; the sauce was drizzled over them. Salted fish chicken fried rice had the wok fried fragrance, and the ratio of rice to salted fish, chicken, and veggies was perfect. My absolute favorite was the sizzling black pepper tenderloin steak! The meat was tender, juicy, and the black pepper sauce was delicious. It paired very well with the fried rice. Total was approx. $70. Service was attentive, although toward the end it felt like they were rushing us to pack up even though there were maybe two other tables of active diners. Interior decor is very bright and cheerful, definitely has Hong Kong vibes with the retro mosaic aesthetic, which is quite mahjong-esque.
Visited at 3pm to avoid the crowd. Ambiance was nice and less noisy at this time. Friendly server took our order and the food arrived promptly. Bitter melon and egg was soft and tender. Pork chop was salty and crispy. Honey walnut shrimp was big, juicy and the candied walnuts was plentiful. Malaysian fried rice tasty, and the Singapore rice noodle flavorful. The meal was scrumptious and delicious like a well prepared home cooked meal! Will definitely be back to try new items on the menu.
The views out here are stunning and what better way to enjoy them than with a nice ice cold coffee! I am so glad I got to try this place. When you walk in, there's tons of baked goods and cute merchandise all over with small tables and chairs to sit inside. The outside also had plenty of picnic tables to sit at ans the light sign when you walk in with. Grass background was just so welcoming. The women who took our order was so kind fo us and patient which was nice because it was my first time trying Mele Mele Bakery. We ordered the ice Matcha Latte with the pistachio edge and almond milk and a cinimom roll with no icing. Oh my goodness it was amazing! The matcha was so refreshing, the almond milk didn't water it down either and the pistachio edge was just so delicious! It all made for such a refreshing drink! The Cinnamon Roll was also delicious, it wasnt freshly made or warm but that was a good thing because it was hot out. It has such beautiful spice and texture. It paired so well with our drink! Overall, a really good place to grab some coffee and a sweet treat. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone!
This place is very crowded and you need to make reservations. We were late for our reservation and were nervous they wouldn't seat us but they kindly did. When we left there was a very long line outside the door also. All the food we got was very tasty. The salted egg yolk chicken wings and green beans were my favorite. We didn't try the crab although we heard that was good. If we go again, we'll have to try it. I like our food and glad we got to try it. I think as long as you make reservations, you shouldn't have to wait or have any problems.
Ever since I had Yi Xin, I think about the curry crab every single day. The curry crab was perfectly cooked, creamy and is so good on a hot bed of white rice. We also got the salted egg wings which was so crispy, the garlic ong choy was perfectly cooked, and the salt and pepper shrimp was also cooked perfectly. I still think about this meal everyday!!! Highly recommend when you go to Hawaii! They also had different types of sauces for their crabs and im sure they are also very delicious. Will for sure be one of my top spots if I go back to Hawaii! Expect wait times from 30 mins to hours because it's a small Cafe but people really wait for seats because food is delicious. read more

The curry crab is soooo good! I realized when I visited that dungeonous crab really is my favorite kid of crab. Hoenstly, after coming here, I haven't stopped thinking about this meal. I need to go back ASAP! Highly recommend reservations, especially on weekend nights. It gets pretty busy. Get the crab and a side of white rice. It can feed 2-4 people (depending how hungry you are) and remember to scrape the good stuff out of the head. We had four people and ordered the curry crab, fried rice, and a side of white rice. It filled us all up! The tea with the bears in them were SO cute! We all got them too. They were all sweetened perfectly. Highly recommend this place to anyone! read more
Great food! One of our favorite eats of our trip. We wished we were more hungry and could try more! Came by on a week night around 7 and there was a 30 minute wait with about 2 parties in front of us. Our party of 4 ordered: - 2 hk lemon iced teas with the bear - the bear was still there the next day - baked spaghetti - curry beef stew - salted egg yolk fried chicken All of the food was so good. We saw a couple order a bunch of food including the crab. Everything looked so delicious! Can't recommend this Hong Kong cafe enough. read more

We got quite lucky when we walked in and were seated immediately, whereas the people right after us had to wait. Lesson of that day: don't hesitate. (Carpe diem!) We ordered the Thai Style Pork Cheek, Szechun spicy J.J Chicken Pot, Baked Pork Chop w/ Tomato Sauce & Cheese on Rice, Shrimp WonTon Egg Noodle in Soup, Singapore Rice Noodles, HK Style Milk Tea (COLD), and HK Style Iced Lemon Tea w/Frozen Bear. Everything was quite solid. I have grown up on Costco's shrimp wonton soup, so shrimp wonton soup is not so unusual for me that I would be compelled to ordering it at a restaurant, but I was pleased with how tasty the shrimp wonton egg noodle soup was. I was missing Hong Kong and thus wanted to try the baked pork chop with tomato sauce and cheese as a nod to my past adventures (and to honor the fact that I had the baked pork chop with tomato sauce so infrequently due to its ubiquity in Hong Kong-- yet another meditation on taking things for granted). To hammer this sense of nostalgia home, the sound of Cantonese in the restaurant (which is not uncommon in Honolulu) also brought me back to Hong Kong. I would return to Yi Xin Cafe to try more of the menu. read more
Located in Market City shopping center on the same side as Gina's and Cafe Kaila, Yi Xin Cafe is a restaurant with many different Chinese dishes. There is parking out front and around the shopping center. The inside of the restaurant feels clean and spacious. The inside had some art on the walls with wood chairs and tables, and hanging lights. We ordered takeout and it was ready promptly! We decided to order the baked meat sauce with spaghetti, beef chow fun, Singaporean rice noodles, and a beef omelet. The spaghetti was a bit sweet, which was a surprise. While I prefer more savory spaghetti, it was nice to try something different. The beef chow fun and the rice noodles were both solid as well. The beef omelet was SO good! It was tasty all around from the omelet to the beef to the rice. The prices of everything did not feel cheap but the portions were quite decent. We will be back, especially for the beef omelet! read more

Yi Xin serves HK style chinese food. We came solely for their chili crab. It had a tomato taste to it which wasn't what I expected, but it was still good. The sauce had a slight kick and was so good on rice! We also ordered the garlic shrimp (quality of shrimp 2.5/5), beef chow fun (3/5), salted fish and chicken fried rice (3.5/5), and choy with shrimp paste (3.5/5). Food came out quick. Lucky for us, we were seated right away, but there was a line when we left. Overall, food was ok! read more

We arrived for our 1st time dinning here and ordered 1 Whole Dungenese Singapore Chilli Crab, Garlic On Choy, Singapore Noodles with Shrimp/ Lup Chong, Garlic Eggplant it was all amazingly great flavors and cook to perfection. Service was really friendly and accomodating. We will return soon. read more
This place serves delicious food with great service! Tons of parking and many choices on the menu means there's something for everyone. We went with a non strict vegan and a muslim who doesn't eat pork and there was plenty of options. The Thai chicken basil sizzling pot with eggplant was a group favorite. Their chicken was so tender and the sauce was so delicious. Their eggplant were tender and perfectly cooked. The honey walnut shrimp were so good we got a second round! The sauce and crunch were on point and they're served with potato chips and candy walnuts for a fun twist. The eggplant and long beans were good but I wouldn't order it again if getting the chicken and eggplant dish. The Malaysian beef fried rice was another crowd favorite and a good portion. I loved the beef chow mein. It had a smokey flavor and the noodles had the perfect bounce. The curry dusted French fries were crispy with a hint of curry and another crowd favorite (also where else can you find this?!). The weird thing was the Chinese broccoli with "bean curd" did not have bean curd (if you're thinking of the thin yellow strips). We asked them if we got the right dish and they said it's in there. My friend and I stopped by Yi Xin Cafe on Tuesday, 11/11/25, at 10:38 a.m.--right when they opened. I've been seeing their adorable bear teas and Signature Curry Crab all over my social media, so I've been eager to try it for myself. Today was my lucky day! When we walked in, there were already a few families dining or placing their orders. We were seated promptly by our friendly host. We were given our menus and were ready to order. We also asked for separate checks. Our host readily accommodated us with our request with a smile. Of course, we both got their ever so popular cute Milk Teas with the fabulous Bear Ice in a glass jar mug. We took photos with it as we waited for our meals. My friend and I decided to order their rice plates. My friend ordered the Beef with Black Bean. It came to the table sizzling hot. She enjoyed the savoriness of the black bean sauce enveloping the beef as well as the crunchiness of the peppers and onions. My order came a bit after hers. I got their award winning curry. The sauce had a wonderful rich and savory depth with just the right consistency--smooth without being watery or heavy. Though mild in spice, the flavors blended perfectly, infusing into the shrimp and tender potatoes. Our friendly host and hostess mentioned that the restaurant uses the same curry base for their Signature Crab Curry, as well as their award-winning Beef Stew Curry, Beef Curry, and Chicken Curry. I'm excited to come back and try their famous Signature Crab Curry next time! We had a wonderful time at this charming restaurant. The service was excellent, the décor was fun and whimsical, and the rice dishes were outstanding. We'll definitely be back to Yi Xin Cafe soon. read more
Signature here is the Dungeness crab. Today had the curry crab, dry string beans, and beef and bitter melon. All pretty flavorful, fresh, and good flavor. Service is very friendly and food comes out pretty fast. For the crab they gave us the crab crackers, gloves, and wet wipes so was pretty easy to eat. Place is very easy to miss from the outside, but interior is surprisingly spacious, and air condition was on stronger side, which is great on those warm summer days. Parking at this complex is plentiful. Come for the crab, you'll enjoy it! read more

Found this cafe bc Bretman Rock recommended, and this was probably one of my favorite food stops during our Hawaii trip! I didn't expect it to get so busy, so I read through some reviews in case and it indeed does get very busy unless you come in early. I called in advance to make sure they take walk-ins, but by the time we came quickly, they told us that they were all booked with reservations... Luckily for us, there was a party running late or just didn't show up for their reservation, so we took their spot, yay! Compared to the HK cafes in LA, this one is definitely a lot more pricier, but the food quality was really good! We ordered their famous Curry Crab with Naan Bread, Salted Egg Chicken Wings, Eggplant dish, and hou fun. The curry crab was YUMMMMMM, and the naan bread with it was soooo good. The curry does get salty so it's best to eat it with rice to get that balance. The crab is a bit of a hassle to eat since you have to crack it on your own, but it was delicious. It does get very messy... The rest of the entree items were really good! My bf really enjoyed the salted egg chicken wings, a nice crisp to it and not overly flavored with salted egg. We also ordered some lemon iced teas and milk teas with the bear on it! The bear is essentially just an ice form of your drink, so it is cute for the appeal, but just get the normal version if you don't care too much for it haha. I feel like the drinks were also a bit watered down, the hk milk tea could have been stronger, it was just a sweet light milk tea. Anyways, i'm so glad I found this on TikTok, it was a family favorite! Make sure to get reservations in advance. It was sprinkling a little bit when we came for dinner, but the outside waiting area has stools and is covered! This cafe was busy! We sat down and instantly ordered our food because we thought food would take long to come out. It was actually the opposite, we ordered and the food came out super quickly! The drinks, on the other hand, took a longer time. What we ordered: * salted egg yolk chicken wings * curry crab * curry beef stew * beef chow fun * singaporean noodles * ong choi * salted fish fried rice The salted egg yolk chicken wings were a great appetizer. The salted egg yolk flavor really came through and it was perfectly crispy! It wasn't overcome with the batter flavor and was still light. Next up is what we really came for - the curry crab. My picky mother LOVED the flavor of the crab and even complimented it! I also enjoyed the crab, the naan paired well with it. I will say the crab meat was harder to remove vs other crabs I've had. The crab meat constantly stuck to the shell, so it was difficult to get a clean piece of meat. We loved the curry beef stew because all the beef pieces soaked up with rich curry and weren't too chewy! Ong choi was also done really well :) The noodle dishes, beef chow fun and singaporean noodles, were excellent flavor wise. Even my parents praised these dishes. The only qualm was the sizing of the dishes, definitely on the smaller side. The salted fish fried rice wasn't outstanding and isn't a dish we would order in the future. You can taste some of the salted fish, but felt like it was missing something compared to other ones we usually get. Overall, I would give this a 4.5/5! read more

We came for lunch on a weekday and it was ok crowded. Pretty much all tables were seated but we got seated right away as well. Noticing pretty every table ordered crabs, we followed suit and it was the right move. The crab Hong Kong style was fresh and perfectly cooked. Other dishes we enjoyed were pork jowl (neck) which was tender and cooked just right. Salted egg chicken wings were also a must here! Their noodles and rice dishes are also delicious. Our first time dining at Yi Xin Café, and we were so impressed! The food was amazing, the prices were great, the portions were huge and the service from the staff was genuinely warm and welcoming. No wonder this place is always busy. The process is simple: you sign in with your name and party size, wait outside until they call you and then get seated. Everything runs very smoothly. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. We ordered the shrimp garlic fried rice, Thai-style BBQ pork cheek, stir-fried ong choi (morning glory) with shrimp paste and an HK iced milk tea topped with the cutest teddy bear ice. We loved every bite The ambience is cozy and inviting, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we'll definitely be coming back! read more
Best restaurant to get sauteed crabs besides Singapore :) Ingredients are fresh, seasoning is on point and not too salty, which I like a lot. Kids love the milk tea that has a bear. Servers are friendly and tentative. I love the sauteed crabs and grilled pork cheek the most. The chicken wings are so-so, not so much flavor or taste. The space is small and more like family-style. However, decorations are lovely. read more
Came on a Saturday evening . This place stays busy. We probably waited about 45 minutes, but the staff seemed really on it getting people in and out. We came here for the crab dishes because we've heard so much about it! And I promise it's not all hype. We got the curry crab, salted fish fried rice, Szechuan jj spicy chicken pot, Hong Kong style garlic prawns and everything was 10/10! Service was quick and the food here is really just as good as everyone says it is. I love that they have prices on everything too so you know exactly how much everything is. Can't wait to come back and try more stuff. read more

The food was awesome. Just about every table had their famous crab dish. The crabs are live so it is super fresh. It was only 2 of us so we opted to order the eggplant and green beans. The eggplant was tasty. The green beans were regular beans not the Asian long beans as advertised but still very good. Not over cooked at all. The sizzling beef stir fry was awesome. It came sizzling to the table. A nice presentation. We rounded out the meal with Malaysian fried rice. It was good and the serving size was nice. What I appreciated was none of the vegetables were over cooked. When I arrived I saw a lot of people going into the restaurant and was afraid we wouldn't get a seat. They found a seat for us. Definitely worth coming back. Also the prices were very reasonable. read more

Since my last dining experience with friends, I took my parents to Yi Xin for lunch and they loved it so much. The most impressed dish was the Salted Fish Chicken Eggplant in clay pot. Omg! The best on Oahu. It tasted exactly like HK, I can say probably better than the one in HK. It's very flavorful and delicious. I can eat that with 2 bowls of rice. MUST TRY! Beef Chow Fun and the Capital Pork Chop were so delicious as well. Full of "Wok Hee". I will come more often. read more

The salted egg chicken wings are great and served hot. The sauce that comes with the green beans is really good with rice. The Hong Kong Style Garlic Stir Fried Prawns have a wonderful flavor. You can eat the shell but if you don't want to at least suck the flavor of the shell before peeling the prawn. read more

This is a really busy cafe, so I highly recommend you make reservations if you want to dine here. You can't make reservations online so it's best to call the cafe directly. We were initially told that it would be a 40 minute wait for 2 people, but surprisingly, we only waited a couple of minutes; 5 minutes max. It took a little longer for someone to take our order, but it was expected because there was a constant line of people dining in or doing take out. However, our server was really nice and patient as we ordered a variety of dishes. We ended up getting one teddy bear milk tea, a regular milk tea, beef broccoli, shrimp with broccoli, shrimp fried rice, salt and pepper pork chops, sweet and sour pork, and beef chow fun. The milk tea was really delicious and the teddy bear was a cute addition; I'm sure it was also made from the tea used for the milk tea. My favorite dishes were the beef chow fun and the sweet and sour pork. My husband ordered from the remaining dishes, and said the shrimp was delicious! He was surprised that the shrimp fried rice had big (whole) shrimps in it; they weren't the typical small shrimps used by most places. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and milk tea, and will definitely be back to try other dishes and drinks. read more

This place is legit! I came with 2 friends on a Sunday morning and we were able to be sat immediately. The restaurant is pretty small and a line developed shortly after we came. We shared the pork cheeks, minced green beans, and curry crab. Everything was delicious. The pork dish was small but a great appetizer. It was clean tasting, the pork was so tender, and the sauce it came with was delicious. The curry crab is truly unique. So rich in flavor. Make sure to get a couple bowls of rice on the side so that you can mix it all in to the curry at the end! read more
This place is located in market city in the former space known as Any Time Cafe. We came here on a whim as it was a rather chilly night and all the Ramen places had lines. I've seen this place a few times and have always been intimidated going in mainly because the menu with items that are foreign to me. We chanced it and boy was I glad. We came on a Sunday evening around 7:30 PM. That's actually kind of late for me to eat dinner and this place was packed. We actually didn't have to wait which was great considering every table was filled. And almost every table had the curry crab. That must be a specialty. We opted out of that but our food selection was outstanding. We have the honey walnut shrimp which was perfect. I chose the stirfry eggplant with long beans. It did not come with long beans which was a slight disappointment, nonetheless, it was still good and tasty. The Mr. had a sizzling beef plate and boy was it sizzling. He said the meat was tender. there was a mix of people in the restaurant and everyone appeared to be enjoying their meal. Many had the drinks that had the bear on top. I would definitely come again and try one of the bear drinks just for fun. I am curious about the crab but it is a hefty price tag for it. read more
Tucked in the corner of Market City. Pretty busy but able to get seated right away for lunch. Delicious Chinese food at reasonable prices and easy to share family style. Servers were prompt, gave good recommendations, and were attentive. I really enjoyed the salted egg yolk chicken wings, very flavorful and crispy. The sizzling beef was also yummy and came out hot and fresh! Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture. I recommend at least 4 plates to share among 4 people. The drinks were very cute and Instagram worthy of course. Nothing spectacular for the taste, but still refreshing. Would come again! read more
This place has been on my list to try out for such a long time, and I am SO HAPPY that we finally got to go! On a weekend lunch time, we were able to walk in and get sat right away. The host was prompt and friendly and the restaurant was clean and organized. Our server was also prompt and friendly, and she was very patient and helpful with us :) My wonton soup with egg noodles was 10/10. It was a comforting familiar taste and I enjoyed the broth very much. The beef noodle soup was also great, but I definitely recommend the wonton soup over the beef noodle soup. Of course we had to get the frozen teddy bear iced tea -- SO CUTE! I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant and I'm so excited to go back to try out other menus! read more
Yi xin cafe has a lot of foods that hong kongers will recognize as local specialties that are hard to find in Hawaii. I had the gratin. It's gratin for sure but it's not really well done. The shrimp are likely cooked separately and cooked well but the other mixins like vegetables don't seem to be cooked so they're kind of hard. I'm sure it saves time vs baking them all together but you can tell the difference. Others with me liked the tomato pork chop. read more
Be prepared to wait! But worth it. We got the green beans, sweet and sour pork, wonton soup, chicken wings & the Singaporean crab. The crab was the star of the show! So so good!!! 3.5 stars Came here to try the Chili crab which I've never had. We got the Singapore style chili crab, Hong Kong style garlic prawns, Singapore rice noodles, Malaysian beef fried rice, and garlic green beans. The crab was good but not as spicy as I had imagined. The flavor was good it had a nice garlic flavor. I'd order this more spicy if I could next time. The HK style garlic prawns were cooked perfectly. They were tender yet had a nice crisp texture outside. The shrimps were shell on but deveined. The fried garlic was crispy and delicious, the shells on the shrimp added to it. The garlic green beens were nicely cooked, they were tender but not mushy and had good flavor. The Malaysian beef fried rice was just ok. My friend who ordered it said it was much better before. The Singapore noodles were good and had a nice curry flavor to them. Overall a good experience the chili crab was a bit pricy, but I don't know of another place to try it so it was a good choice. Service was quick and prompt. We noticed another table order things that we did not see on the menu. Was asked the waitress about it, she said it was one of the specials of the day. So be sure to ask there are any specials. They are located in Market City Shopping center, the same strip mall with Foodland, Gina's BBQ, and Kamitoku ramen so there's lots of parking. read more

Ok, I wasn't too sure at first about this restaurant but I loved it! We ordered a lot of different dishes and I enjoyed almost all of it. This is fusion cuisine for sure and I love the flavors! I love their pork cheek with the sauce. I enjoyed their noodle soup.. my son devoured his curry beef over rice. I love the HK milk tea because it's not too sweet. Their salt and pepper fish was fantastic. Mapo tofu definitely has a curry taste to it so it's not your typical mapo tofu since it is a fusion. Their HK fried rice was great but the star of the show for me was their superrr flavorful green bean eggplant! Omg! Amazing!!!! I could eat how many of those dishes. Sooo Flippin good! Oh and their salted egg wings are yummy too! Either way def a must try! The place is clean and has a few tables inside but it's definitely not a huge spot. The staff is friendly and the waiter was the one who put us on the green beans and eggplant so he gets a 5 star from me haha read more
I really like this place. Their Singapore noodles are my go-to every time I visit. Their curries are also good. I tend to go for the beef stew since the meat is soft and tender with just the right amount of fat/tendon. Their salted egg wings were good. I love salted egg flavors. read more
