Yiku Sushi is tucked away on the left side of the Giant shopping center on Muddy Branch Road. I'm excited to have a new sushi spot so close to home! This place has quality sushi for a great price. They offer a wide variety of regular rolls as well as specialty rolls. The fish tastes fresh and the pieces are cut into the perfect size. I love that they offer the fresh and smoked salmon, and their spicy yellowtail roll is so delicious! Their lunch special is great. They offer 2 rolls for $6.95 and 3 rolls for $9.95. There is plenty to choose from including rolls that do not have fish (sweet potato, mango avacado, etc). The best part is the lunch special is good on weekends too! I'm glad this place is right down the street from me, I know I will be a regular! The staff is really friendly and attentive. It's a good sushi spot. Not 5 starworthy, but a solid spot to go to on a regular basis. The fish is of a good quality and doesn't taste fishy. This place hasn't been open for long, but I'm already a huge fan of the lunch specials and plan on coming back many more times. If you're familiar with Love Sushi in Gaithersburg, this has a similar lunch setup with a good variety of rolls, 2 for $6.95 and 3 for $9.95. The sushi comes out very fresh and stuffed full of meat. There are a good selection of both regular maki and veggie rolls so everybody can find something to enjoy. I've been here on both weekday and weekend afternoons and have never seen a large crowd. Got take out from Yiku a few nights ago. They are still not offering dine-in service. The food overall was excellent and priced well. We ordered the soft shell crab tempura, 5 rolls, and a chirashi bowl. They threw in a free California roll. The soft shell crab was crispy and flavorful. I had the chirashi bowl and they gave a large portion of fish. All of the raw fish was fresh tasting and the rice was seasoned well. The rolls were large and full. With the free roll, we ended up paying $70 for the tempura appetizer, 6 rolls, and a chirashi bowl- you can't get a better deal than that anywhere. We will definitely be getting take out from Yiku again. read more

Any rolls not on the lunch menu, it's an extra 50 cents for substitutions (like spicy crunchy salmon, though not sure if that's changed in the past two months so all rolls are included in that price) Pros: Great service if you dine in, take out pick up is quick, fish is fairly fresh. Hits the sushi spot craving. Spicy crunch rolls are good. Cons: They don't use kikkoman, so their soy sauce tastes a bit weird to me imo. The rice isn't as seasoned, it's more like regular white rice, but still good. Definitely a spot to add to your rotation if you're in the area with Yoyogi. read more

Very dissapointed and angry. I ordered food at 6:30 pm for delivery. Two hours laters, food did not come, so we called and apparently they forgot to our orders. Finally the food came, all were dead cold. We had to reheated the udon soup, miso soup and fried calamari on the stove and oven. There's 2 categories of sushi in my mind and they are 1) fast maki places that are economical and 2) the traditional Japanese sushi restaurant that serve more authentic and premium sushi grade fish - and Yiku falls in the first category. I visited Yiku on 2 separate occasions and have dined in for lunch and did carryout for dinner. Both times I must say service was great. When I dined-in my friend and each got the ramen (my friend got the chicken and I got the shrimp tempura) and some rolls to share. The ramen portions were good and small accompaniments (mushroom, Asian cabbage, broccoli, fish cake and bonito flakes) were good. The soup was a touch on the greasy side and the ramen was leaning on the al dente side. Sushi was ok and the rice needed some rice vinegar and sugar on it. When I picked up for a 2 person meal, I did the 3 roll special. The Cali roll and white tuna was a touch bland we did like the spicy salmon roll. We then ordered a special maki called the Red Dragon Maki which tasted fine but was just ok. We also got the Yiku salad which was odd as it had a lot of filler items (lettuce and carrots) and very minimal amount of imitation crab. I would suggest just to order another roll instead of the salad. Overall, decent sushi and ramen, service and prices are good, but since Yoyogi in the Kentlands is so close, I would rather go there. read more

This is a mixed review of their food and their delivery driver which is the biggest reason I dropped stars. Bad experiences= bad reviews. So I ordered delivery on a sunday night for one. They have a minimum $25 per order, with an additional $2 delivery charge. My usual goto place was closed so figured I'd give Yiku a shot, the reviews seemed decent enough. Ordered a few different menu items to meet their minimum requirement and wanted to try something new, sadly they don't really have very good descriptions for alot of their dishes so you're basically winging it. I'll review the food and then get to the delivery guy: Takayoshi: I saw a picture of it, however there was no description. It was only $5.95 so figured why not take a leap of faith and go for it. Turned out it was basically a shrimp and octupus shumai like dish topped with alot of dry fish skin (something like that.. couldnt really tell) It was interesting, the octupus was a little too chewy, but it's a fun little appetizer that I would recommend ordering if dining in. It doesnt travel too well for carry out or delivery. And heavy on the funk..so be warned. Rainbow Naruto Maki: Various types of fish wrapped in cucumber, pretty fresh and light. Not a very large portion. Ice Age Salmon Maki: very little Salmon for a roll that's named Salmon maki.. it was mostly cucumber and lettuce and immitation crab. meh Issue with the Delivery guy: He actually yelled at me for only giving him 10% tip which was calculated automatically by the app I used, saying that he only accepts a minimum of $5 tips and demanded that I give him more cash- to which I simply responded that I didnt have cash which is why I added everything to the credit card order online. If he has an issue with the restaurant keeping the delivery fee and not giving it to the driver that's something they need to discuss and not put it on the customers to make up for. Yoyogi has been my go-to sushi place for years, but I have started branching out more especially when they are closed on Tuesdays. This place feels a little more upscale, but the prices and quality are very similar. I normally get the basic rolls (Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Yellow Tail, White Tuna, Salmon and Avacado, etc) or sashimi. All of the first has been fresh and a good size. My only two complaints are I wish they would give you rice if you order the sashimi plates and you have to pay for extra ginger. Only dined in once. The service we friendly and prompt and normally there is plenty of seating available. For delivery and pickup - the soup has always been warm, fish has been cold and fresh, and they include chopsticks and soy sauce. Benefits: 1. They deliver through Yelp eats. We were both craving sushi, and we searched for the highest rated sushi restaurant in the area. Yiku Sushi popped up, and we decided to give it a try since so many of our yelp friends recommended this place. We ordered two rolls and one entree. 1. Spicy crunch scallop rolls is a must try at a price ~$5. Love bits of spicy marinaded scallop. 2. They offer several types of dragon rolls. Their rolls are very solid. Nicely rolled with plenty of eel and avocado pieces on top. Kudos to Yiku sushi, and we will definitely return. Jason C ordered an eel entree, and he enjoyed it. Nothing spectacular, but it was a solid dish with a large portion. One thing he complained about the dish was that the rice was a little too sticky. In sum, I thought it was a great place to get sushi rolls at a very reasonable price and we would recommend this place. He purposely changed his accent to one that was difficult to understand as if he was not able to understand me. One weekend, during the day, I placed an order. I received a call from the building phone and guess who it was.....him. He proved he knew how to use it. When he came walking down the hallway, I stepped into the corridor and said, "See you know how to use it." He immediately said, "Oh no its you. I won't do this again I am too busy." I laughed. I did call the restaurant and requested to speak with the owner. They said he wasn't in. I never received a return call. Recently, I went there for lunch. I had to use the restroom which is down a hallway. When I approached the hallway, there sat the delivery guy. He looked like he wanted to run. I was nice and didn't say anything to him. Ok so I've been to this place before and everything was great but today I had a very strange experience. My best friend and I went here for dinner, we got an older lady as a waitress and she seemed downright hostile: glaring at us, speaking in a clipped way, not asking us if we wanted water. Once we got our food she avoided our table like the plague. I had to ask for a hot water refill, at which point she poured us a tiny amount and then scurried away like we were lepers. I think she thought we were two lesbians out on a date. Which is ironic since I'm engaged to a man and my friend is the straightest girl in town. But that really shouldn't matter. If we had actually been a couple the crappy treatment would have definitely ruined our theoretical date. As it was, it made for an uncomfortable dinner. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants was replaced by Yiku Sushi and initially, I was pretty upset. But then I realized that a sushi place was just a five minute walk away from my house and a good one at that. The interior design is pretty standard but effective in looking Japanese and giving an inviting feel. The servers are kind and helpful. The sushi itself is pretty great, with a wide variety of tasty rolls that aren't expensive. Like all good sushi places, the chef makes it at the front and you can watch if you want. I recommend the salmon avocado roll or the shrimp tempura roll. The mochi makes a great little dessert but it's a little expensive for the amount you get. Speaking of Jeb Bush, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas. The three of us ordered the 42 piece sushi meal for $63 total. Let's call it a boat. I asked my son if he would join me and we went for lunch. Our server Vicki was wonderful. She was there for us right away,but gave us time to make our decisions. We ordered the sashimi tuna and Inari. I love, loved the Inari. It was sweet and full of flavor. The tuna was high quality and fresh as if it was caught that morning. We also ordered the California rolls and the shrimp and avocado rolls. Both of the rolls were delicious and just the right size to pop in your mouth. I did have to pay a small charge to get roe on my California rolls, but that was not a big deal. It is a lovely restaurant and they are very nice. I highly recommend it. Big pieces though it didn't arrive in a boat. The Unagi Don was up to par as far as how eel should be cooked. It was tender and not dry. The sauce was nice and sweet and slightly smoky. I usually ask this to be served over sushi rice, but the regular white rice was okay since there was a lot of sauce. The Crazy Salmon Maki was okay. The salmon was crunchy but not spicy. At least to me it wasn't. The salmon was nice and fatty on top and the avocado was fresh and vibrant. The size of the roll was okay, though Ziki's are bigger. Tropical Monsoon Roll was sweet and refreshing. Good proportion of salmon and mango. The reason why I didn't give this place a higher rating is that lack of tang in the sushi rice. We didn't taste the sushi vinegar in the sushi rice, which is important as the slight tang and sweetness helps elevate the ingredients of the rolls as a seasoning. The second time I came with colleagues and ordered the Smoked Eel Bento Box. This was such a great deal. As mentioned before, the eel was nice and smoky in flavor with the temperature of the eel cooked correctly and the sauce on-point. The avocado salad arrived and was a bed of shredded lettuce with a sour mayo based dressing and an avocado. My fiance and I love this place! Always excellent service, no waits, cozy interior and really yummy food. I always have miso soup (which is not salty like other places) and the spicy crunchy yellowtail sushi but we always make sure we try something new. One of my go to rolls is a simple avocado roll and they really fill it with avocado, it's definitely the most avocado per roll that I've ever had!
