Years ago we tried Ying Hui on a few occasions but the food was always sub par at best. In fact we tried just about every Chinese restaurant within a 15 mile radius and even though some places were good all of them had a consistency problem. However, about a year ago we tried Ying Hui again and the food was fantastic. So we tried them again. Then again. Then again. Alas! A Chinese restaurant close to home that delivers consistently delicious food! The sauces they serve are all tasty and unique unlike the same old brown sauce with some slight variations you get at other places. Their vegetables are all fresh and great quality. The dishes are packed into the containers that empty out into huge portions. They certainly don't skimp on the amount of shrimp in their seafood dishes. The food always arrives piping hot. And to top it all off their prices are the more than reasonable for the portion size and quality of the food. Note that this is not a restaurant to go to and I advise you only to order delivery or you may be scared off by the location and appearance. However, If you live in the area or are passing through I highly recommend you give them a shot even if you gave up on them in the past like we did. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

    Kung Pao "Chicken"

This place has the worst Kung Pao "Chicken on the east coast. Literally 5-6 tiny pieces of chicken and no spice or taste to it at all. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This is an antique shop & Chinese take out joint. Bizarre.

This was one of the more bizarre shops I have visited in the USA. Clearly a take out dive with only one table with 5 chairs for those unlucky enough to need to eat in house (Moi), these folks clearly make food as a secondary enterprise to the antique business they run in the same space. I was able to peruse some attractive Chinese and Western vases and curios while waiting for my meal to reach me in its polystyrene container. Not an expert, but having spent enough time in China to know how these things are done, most of what I saw were copies of older pieces. Of course, they insist they are the original Ming Dynasty pots, but no way they would leave them out in the open of a tiny resto if that were so. The real McCoy's are under lock and key because of their large valuations. Anyway, I know they do better with the pottery than the slop served, because the old man drove up in a Hummer full of more ceramics as I walked back to my car. Which leads me back to the food. I don't mind that there was no washing of hands between touching old pots and cooking pots. I didn't mind that the menu I was forced to look at was smeared with sauce and whatever, rather than thrown away before I arrived. I don't even mind that there was no air conditioning and the door was left wide open to allow me the pleasure of sharing my meal with flies. But, I did mind that the Chicken had been frozen too long and lost its tenderness, and that the Fried Rice was a copper color from being dyed by the bouillon it had been cooked in yesterday. What surprised me in all this were the actual veggies that found their way into the dish. Not just Broccoli, but Water Chestnuts, Fresh Mushrooms, Carrots, Snap Peas and even Black Fungus (the good stuff) were all mixed in. I didn't expect to see that in an otherwise lackluster presentation in styro. No. Someone around there knew something about cooking, and took the time to get authentic ingredients for this slovenly meal. The General's sauce was also near amazing, because it actually had the Hot/Sweet balance generally considered the proper taste for this dish. Why they were able to develop the right sauce with the high end veggies, while throwing in old Chicken and rerun rice, is beyond me. But, in retrospect it was no more unusual than the store itself. I don't think I'll be back to Ying Hui unless I am looking for an attractive ersatz vase for a gift for someone I don't care too much about. PS. Don't be too impressed with that Top 100 Award. Whether than is legit or not, it certainly wasn't given for this operation. Those awards are for sale on the internet.

    What wings should look like

Reconsider! Customers should want to order for quality 1st! Not so much here.. Unfortunately convenience is..was..my only reason. To start, they unapologetically don't follow order instructions. If you don't mind being gypped with the smallest flavorless overcooked wings possible, not having napkins, forks, spoons, or knives, and tipping poor service, do please order from here!

The sauce had just enough numbing warmth without overpowering the dish, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. Beyond the appetizer, the restaurant offered a warm atmosphere and attentive service that made the dining experience even better. The presentation was thoughtful, portions were generous, and the flavors tasted authentic and carefully prepared. If you enjoy dishes with a little spice and a lot of flavor, the wontons in chili oil are absolutely worth ordering. I would definitely come back just for them.

When it comes to food, I never judge a burger by its bun, so thanks to Yelp for helping me find it. The sign in the window says "Asian fusion" which usually sends me running as it's often a cop-out label for bad mixed-up Asian cooking, but this is authentic y'all, meaning true-to-tradition dishes with a sometimes more contemporary application of ingredients or flavors. The "fusion" part must come from the fact that they have a small Taiwanese section as well as the main Szechuan/Sichuan menu, alongside a few familiar Chinese-American favorites like sesame chicken or broccoli x protein, so you can get that here too. Everything we ordered was phenomenal! Great flavors, generous portions, cooked with confidence and finesse. Compliments to the kitchen - they really know what they're doing. Not a single dish was lacking. They even put out peanuts at the start and serve fresh orange slices at the end of the meal. Very old school. We loved it all: * Salt & white pepper crispy chicken ("Taiwanese specialty") - well-battered and flavored, and perfectly crispy * Taiwanese minced pork rice * Chicken red curry - fabulous, with fresh vegetables and just the right balance of spice * Golden dish (fish) - very special dish in a salted duck egg yolk batter * Beef chow fun * Marinated crispy duck Wish I lived closer, but will definitely come back when we are in the area. Best of the best - very highly recommended!

For this year's Chinese New Year, I decided to take the family there for our New Year dinner, and the food was just as good as I remembered. The place hasn't changed a bit, the decor still looks exactly how I remember it, which brought back memories. Since some of my family and friends don't enjoy the same spice level as I do, we adjusted the heat for dinner, and everything still came out fantastic. We ordered the whole steamed fish, happy fish, green beans, tea smoked duck, pork chop, beef pan fried noodles, and more. Every dish was delicious, and the flavors were spot on. The service was a bit tentative at times, but the quality of the food definitely made up for it. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and a great way to celebrate. It seems that both the pepper steak and chicken with broccoli were in the same sauce (& I've actually found that to be common in this area for some reason) but were tasty overall. The egg roll was quite greasy and the wonton soup was pretty solid with the broth being the star. Oh the white rice was cooked how I expect and wish all Chinese white rice is cooked so that's a plus. Overall a true 3.5 star rating but since halves aren't possible I had to go to 3 because it certainly wasn't a 4.
