Everyone raved, like for weeks, about the ice cream, and even though I didn't order anything, I still took their word for it because they are absolute ice cream snobs. Fast forward to yesterday when we were in the neighborhood again. I found 15-minute parking right outside the shop and from the moment we opened the door, everything was the best. The place: adorable and clean, with free water and a stack of napkins next to the water cups. A super clean restroom, too. The samples: they didn't skimp, and metal, full-size sample spoons? A nice eco-friendly touch. The service: just lovely. The flavors: I never thought I'd like pineapple in my ice cream, but the pineapple upside down cake took me back to the kitchen of my childhood (it was one of my mom's specialties,) and the pineapple didn't interfere, wasn't weird or chewy...it just blended so well with all the other flavors and textures. Another winner: the blueberry cheesecake. Oh my gosh. Next time, I'm bringing the insulated bags and stocking up on some pints. This is some of the best ice cream around, I promise you.

The business was poppin' on a Friday night with many customers. The inside offers a lot of tables and can accommodate big parties. The staff allows sampling here and the selection is ample. Vegan/non-dairy options are available just an FYI. I ordered the Whippy Dip (chocolate + vanilla) & my wife the Blackberry Cobbler (vegan/non dairy). I enjoyed the lightness of the Whippy Dip. It wasn't too creamy or sweet. It was a nice airy soft serve with good texture and sweetness. They have so many flavors it can be hard to choose. They come in an extensive variety of traditional Mexican flavors like rompope (rum raisin), coconut and so many more. They also offer regular scoop ice cream in lots of tasty and unique flavors such as the Ferrero Rocher which i had today. It was smooth, creamy and flavorful. The service was really friendly. I sampled the Granadilla which is Passion fruit. And It tasted just like passion fruit. The interior of the ice cream shop is colorful and visually appealing. They have lots of locations throughout SoCal and this one is inside the Brea mall in The City of Brea, CA. I am looking forward to trying some of the Paletas next time. There was lots of variety in their toppings like unique cereal options, wafer straws, and various colored sprinkles. The cashier was very friendly as well. If you want to have more fun with your frozen yogurt, this is the place to go! Only note is that I hope they add more "no sugar added" options. They walked through the whole place with the dog and open food containers. I discretely pointed out to the employee about the dog and she couldn't have cared less. This lady with the dog asked the person what happened and she decided to come and confront me about me being an issue. I was literally having my frozen yogurt minding my business. She started saying that if I mess with her daughter I mess with her. I never said anything to them. If the store wasn't going to do anything, I wasn't going to escalate anything. This lady tried claiming it was a service animal and accused me of being uneducated. The dog was not acting as a service animal and did not have anything to show that it was a service animal. She came to my face and started pointing her finger at my face trying to start something. I remained calm while the lady who works here was in shock and not able to handle the situation. The lady eventually walked out since I was not engaging. I did not feel safe and I believe that the store shouldn't have told the person that I had said something about the dog. Based on this experience I do not feel like coming back especially not alone.

We've been back about half a dozen times in the past month, which says everything. The flavors are delicious and nostalgic. The Big Daddy reminds me of eating a Big Stick ice cream as a kid, and Da Bomb tastes just like a Bomb Pop. They have tons of Italian ice flavors to choose from, plus creamy vanilla and chocolate custard that takes everything over the top. On our first visit, Angelica was amazing. She was so friendly, let us sample several flavors, and even shared some of her personal favorites. That kind of service makes you want to come back. It's a small spot with limited outdoor seating, but honestly, it's just as good sitting in your car enjoying your treat. They also have a stamp card and even offer catering. My only complaint? They close at 9 PM. I'd gladly support this place even later into the night. Do yourself a favor and check out Mustache Mike's... but maybe only tell your close friends.

After trying a sample of their soup of the day, I got a 6 ounce cup of that as well. And since they're best known for their cookies, I added a couple extra f those too. Since the sandwich is what brought me here, the food aspect of this visit was very disappointing. Although it was a good sized sandwich, the untoasted bread was dry and the egg salad was sorely lacking in personality. Even after adding copious amounts of Trader Joe's aglio e oglio seasoning, it was beyond help. I ended up only eating half. The cookies would be their redeeming pieces, right? Sadly, no. The cinnamon sugar cookie tasted like a butter cookie; the white chocolate pretzel cookie had sea salt sprinkled on top did not make the other flavors come through. The only part of my meal today that was worth ordering again was the chicken lemon orzo soup. Just having a bigger container of this with some oyster crackers would have been a much more satisfying meal. It is adjacent to a bakers' supply store (not sure if the two shops are related). My current quest is to find the best macarons, so when I saw that macarons are listed as featured category, I knew I had to check them out! The inside is arranged like a cross between a candy store and the prize counter at Chuck E Cheese ~ kid heaven! They had a couple of displays with jumbo dipped marshmallows and decorated cookies. They also serve Thrify ice cream. All of this was fun, BUT as I walked in, I was hit with an unexpected awful smell. It wasn't burnt food or sugar, but more of a sewage smell. I don't know if it was a problem with the plumbing, but it was definitely off-putting. Nevertheless, I powered on. I asked about what available flavors they had for macarons. And this is where my quest to find the best macarons ended here. They had NONE available :/ Not wanting to leave 100% empty handed, I picked up a couple of their dipped Oreos. Sadly, there was nothing about them that stood out. I haven't decided if I want to come back in hopes of trying their macarons. If I do, I sure hope the shop smells better.
