I use to love Yolanda's but after my most recent experience, it is time for me to say goodbye and move on. I went to an event at this location and while the food was good, the service was not. Especially the manager. First of all, our group did our gift exchange while we waited for the food. We then ate and sat there waiting for quite sometime to get the table cleared so that we can move onto the next part of the event. I had to actually go look for someone to ask if we could get our tables bussed. On top of that, a few of my fellow guests had to go hunt down the server to place alcoholic drink orders. When my drink arrived, the server was in so much of a rush that when she placed the drink on the table she spilled on my phone. We weren't checked up on and service was just slow. Then we were asked to move from the patio to a private room inside, which we did happily when it was explained to us that the patio was booked for an event during the time of ours, even though our host called a month prior to book ours and was told we were good to go even after explaining our event expectations and communicating whether it would be possible for them to accommodate us, which they assured us they could. We explained that we were going to be a little loud and were assured by the manager it would be okay in the private room. The room we were moved into was also the space the employees used to take their breaks. Again, while we were in there continuing our event, we were rarely checked up on and we wanted to place more alcoholic drink orders. Again, we had to find someone to do that. When we were finishing up our event and looking into ordering desserts, the manager approached and demanded we leave because we were taking up space and they had a wait. We mentioned we were looking to order desserts but he refused us and demanded us to leave. As we were being rushed out, we almost didn't get a chance to close out our open tab. The waitress had caught us right before leaving and asked why we were going. We told her we were being kicked out and she became extremely apologetic. We of course paid our tab off but we felt bad for the server cause we were going to order more, which would have meant a nice tip for her. As we left we noticed there were no guests at the front waiting to be seated and the host told us everyone had been seated. When looking back at the room, the tables we were using were still empty. It made no sense why we were being treated the way we were. The only explanation I can come up with is that we were a large group of women and the manager is male. Perhaps gender discrimination? It was very embarrassing and I have never in my life been kicked out of a restaurant. I have worked in customer service and the service industry so, I understand the stresses they go through and therefore, always am respectful. Needless to say, I will never be a customer there again because it is obvious my money isn't welcomed there. Just know if you have a big group or would like to host a nice holiday event, this Yolanda's is NOT the place to do that. read more

Had a combination plate--steak taco, chile relleno, rica and beans. The taco was excellent. Beans were not great, rice as good. The relleno lad the seeds left in, the outer coating was granular--not sure how they made them, but disappointing. Will come for the taco again, but a la crate this time. read more

We have a half dozen wonderful Italian restaurants in the area, but for some reason, we don't have great Mexican...and it kills me. The gf and I were on our way back from Ventura, got stuck in traffic, and the hangry feeling came over us. Thankfully, Yolanda's via a Yelp search came up. Yep, Yolanda's. Part of the same small family of restaurants in nearby Oxnard, Ventura, and Simi -- all of which I've never had the pleasure. Service [5.0 stars] -- the staff is well-trained from very good management that hires a certain service type. All were wonderful, smiley, and so very nice. Led by Pedro, seriously, all I would invite over for Thanksgiving. Ambiance/Vibe [4.5 stars] -- Really cute! Nicely decorated, and just enough noise/action to give it a little sumpin-sumpin. We sat on the nice side patio, and still, it was good. Food [4.5 stars] -- Super fresh, and really very good...maybe, the best I've had in the area (like I said above). Chips were warm, and salsa was fresh and tasty. My 2 loves are Chile Verde and Chile Colorado, and they had a plate that include both in small wet burritos...I was in heaven. GF got shredded beef enchiladas, and she absolutely loved it. We were very, very happy. Rounded up to 5.0 stars for being awesome as we're coming out of the pandemic. read more

I don't like many franchises but I really dig this place and I am glad to have one in Camarillo. Because places to eat in Camarillo it's slim pickings. But Yolanda's is the rose that grew through the concrete. There has been many times where it seemed like we've experienced every restaurant in Camarillo I don't mind if I have to choose to eat here because we don't feel like cooking or just want to eat as a group at the last minute. If the high ratings are because of the food we never got to taste it.... The service was so bad I had to ask my family to find another restaurant around the area. We walked in very hungry ordered the food, asked to cancel and left to another restaurant. Our waitress was so rude with her eye rolling and throwing the menu and walking away while we were talking to her. If you want a welcoming experience skip this restaurant. read more

So we are in from Arizona visiting family and everyone wanted some Mexican food. Well we went here and the line was out the door. The wait wasn't bad about 20 or so, seated out group and promptly attended to us. Our server was great and very patient with us. The food was pretty tasty and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Not the best the drinks weren't good and found something in my food . Not a great experience.

We came here to support my children's PTA fundraising event and it's always nice to get out for dinner and be able to donate for a good cause. They have good drinks and I enjoyed their Cadillac Margarita because it was very refreshing. My wife had the taco salad and my kids loved eating the crunchy shell that was used as a bowl. I enjoyed the asada torta, but their fries were just okay. My kids both liked their cheese quesadillas. Overall, it's a fun place to go for an outing with friends or family, but not one of my favorites in Ventura County. I'd still recommend Money Pancho in Camarillo. But props to Yolanda's for supporting school fundraisers. read more

To sum it up, it's not bad, but not really that good either. This is just mediocre, bland, almost flavorless Mexican food. l have never seen a Mexican restaurant use so many green onions, to the point that their salsa tasted oniony. The best part of the meal was the side of beans that went well with the chips as a dip. The Chile verde however lacked spice, while the rice left me thinking I lost my sense of taste as I could see the rice, feel it enter my mouth, but it was as if the mushy mess failed to hit a single tastebud. I did find a thin short brown hair in my Chile verde, and I shave my head so it wasn't mine, but I had pretty much finished by that point and I don't get grossed out easily. The thing I don't understand is how this place is so packed and successful enough to maintain 4 restaurants. It's a little pricey but the portions of flavorless food are large, so you do get full for the money. I guess there's a market for flavorless mexican food in Ventura County. read more

I usually go for happy hour and let me tell you. Their spicy mango margaritas are bombbbbbbbbb. If I wasn't such a light weight I would drink these all night but alas my limit is one before I start dancing on tables. I've also tried other flavors and their regular margarita, but have to say the spicy mango is my favorite. Food wise they have a great selection of items and at this point I think I've tried all the happy hour appetizers. Have to say the ideal for sharing is nachos. Sampler plate is ok at best, but the nachos is great for munching while hanging out with friends. You also have their endless chips. And on good days the server will get you bean dip too. Also shout out to the server from the hosts, bussers, chip refillers, and waiters. I've had a great experience every time I've stopped by. Olivia is my home girl and she always hooks it up when my child are running low. Also recommend the outdoor space. Great for large parties and also nice for open air feel. Completely and utterly dissatisfied. I placed an order for a good portion of food almost $100 worth. I went over my order several times with the employee, due to concerns with diet and allergy restrictions. I was very specific and the employee did repeat the order back correctly. This was a late pick up order and I should have verified the contents before leaving but I was trying to get my food back to my family so we could eat, so lesson learned there. Ultimately the order wasn't correct, was missing things i ordered and had things I did not order. Waiter was So RUDE! Acted like he didn't understand English. Unbelievable. We asked for a glass of Chardonnay w/ dinner we brought a small bottle out and I said I don't understand. Been going here for many years, I'm born and raised in Camarillo. But I have to leave this review because every time we have a particular server (older male with a ponytail) we have a bad experience. We've had him as our server probably at least 6 times over the years. He brings down the mood of our group every time we've had him. It's unfortunate because he seems to work a lot at night. He is rude, I've never seen him smile, not good with kids at all (in fact he scares ours). We have celebrated a lot of birthdays and he never once has told the birthday guest "happy birthday".My wife wants to know how somebody would ever let him be a server. Last night was the breaking point. It was my birthday and he was rude and unpleasant as usual. Then we didn't see him for over 30 minutes and realized no server had come by and we needed numerous items. Even the busboys came by only one time at some point and usually they provide good service. I went to the front and told the manager. Finally some other tall, younger server came to help and told us the other server had gone home!! He told us he was our server but I'd seen him walk by our table a bunch of times and never stopped by. When I asked where he's been, he simply said "I've been busy" and pointed to the kitchen. No apology, no attempt at being friendly, no nothing. The manager gave some little discount after realizing how bad the experience was, especially for a birthday meal. But the damage has been done. Lots of other choices to give business to on our special occasions. And if we do return, we'll make sure that individual is NOT our server. Even though this review is mainly about 1 or 2 servers, I think it is pretty deserving based on the fact we've been impacted on numerous occasions. At that point I don't care how the food tastes or how the restaurant looks. Maybe Yolanda's will devise a better way to have customers passed on to other servers. My husband and I shared the sampler platter and it was so delicious! Alfredo was our server and he was wonderful. We had to bring home some leftovers because it's so huge. Absolutely the best Mexican food we've ever had! We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. They use a very efficient texting system to notify you when your table is ready. You can even check your place in line using their link. The food was absolutely amazing from the fresh guacamole to the vegetable fajitas! Every employee seemed focused on customer service and took great care of us while we were there. It has a friendly, warm atmosphere with plenty of seating for larger parties. Where to begin. The salsa was watered down and had zero spice. The chips were fine. They also bring a spicy bean dip. It's just beans. It was their "famous" happy hour so I ordered a classic margarita on the rocks. It was so sweet I thought it was a midori sour. Undaunted I ordered a mango margarita. Unfortunately that can only be made blended (which the server failed to mention) and was only Mango in color. Terrible. I don't know why I didn't stop there but I ordered the appetizer sampler to attempt to save this visit. Fail. Guacamole had to of been at least 3 days old. The quesadilla I wouldn't have served to school children and every other part of the sampler got one bite taken out of it and then left on the plate. If you like MEXICAN food.
