I went back here in 2023 visiting Chicago for a concert and needed a breakfast place. We came across Yolk, walking distance from our hotel. I am not a big breakfast fan to begin with, thus the random combination. In my opinion, the place is probably overrated. I would rather go to a mom and pops shop in my home town than here. The inside was clean and well decorated.

Honestly I just thought it was alright. Little pricy for what you get. The best was my girlfriends chilaquiles. The chicken or egg sandwich was alright nothing too over the top, imagine just a slightly higher quality chicken patty with egg and some type of Cane's sauce on top. The pancake was way overcooked and dry, sadly not even the chocolate chips could save it. Wasn't sure what was going on that morning or if there was staffing issues but could definitely tell there was an attitude with a couple of the servers too. The host was kind but felt like I was a disruption vs being welcomed. The restaurant was clean even though busy and liked how we had the option to sit outside

I used to visit this location often as it was just around the corner from my condo. If it weren't for the convenient location, I probably would not choose to come here often. The menu is expansive and there is a wide variety of options to please everyone in your party. Prices are high, but that is to be expected given its location downtown in a train station. The food itself is fine - nothing particularly show stopping, but good standard breakfast food. I really like the thick cut bacon here. Service here, in my experience, has been largely overwhelming. Sometimes I get a gem of a server, but most of the time I had issues with servers who were rude or inattentive. If you're looking for a quick breakfast, Yolk is fine, but if you're looking for an overall positive experience, look elsewhere.

This place was so yummy. Our server lady was great. There wasn't too many people. The restrooms were very clean. Coffee was great too!

Food - the breakfast Mac n cheese was where it's at. I was glad they had many vegetarian options, including a veggie breakfast Mac options. The options are all pretty good! Service - very speedy and attentive server. She confirmed everything tasted good and that we got out in time to catch our train! The hosts also let me store my luggage so I didn't have to haul it back to the booth or take up space. Ambiance - it was a nice little spot tucked to one side of the lobby. It was bright and comfy for a nice breakfast.

A solid brunch spot chain. The corned beef hash had a different type of chopped beef which was nice since the pieces were a bit bigger. The overall portion size was hefty and came with pancakes. I especially liked the two homemade hot sauces they had on the table. My friends thought their dishes were okay (burrito and chilaquiles), but I'd say to stick to the American classics.

Service amazing, food delicious and served quickly, and very clean and well put together establishment. I'm gluten intolerant and was delighted to see plenty of options for myself. First time having broccoli in an omelette and I was loving it, perfect meal to start the day off on, left feeling very nourished and satisfied.

It was such a cute brunch place. My friends and I went back in December. The waiter was very chill and I appreciated his honesty when I asked about certain menu items. The food was delicious and presented very nicely.e atmosphere was very nice overall.

Walked from the station to Yolk, looks like a nice place very bright and the staff was friendly. They bring you water to your table which is very nice! The orange juice was fresh squeezed so yum! I also got a Strawberry Cheesecake iced latte, very coffee forward which is good because it's not too sweet and the aftertaste tastes like strawberries very good. My husband ordered the 5 egg california omelet, it came with hash browns and 2 pancakes. I ate his pancakes which were yummy, i had a side of hash browns and a cinnamon roll. The hash browns seemed very dry or old not sure which they also were a bit cold which was a bummer. The cinnamon roll came nice and hot but nothing special about it it's okay for a regular cinnamon roll though. The bathrooms were clean, but the second bathroom door doesn't lock so be aware of that, also they don't use paper towels to dry your hands just the hand blower thing that dries.

Short walk from Union Station Amtrak or Metra. Inside the Madison building. Not too busy for a Sunday around 10. Immediate seating. Server gave me water right away. A carafe was left on the table with a small Mason jar. Asked for my order as soon as I set down. I needed a little more time and I was certainly giving it. Ordered a beet orange juice. Very tasty. Ordered a pretty basic breakfast. Grits, eggs, turkey sausage and huge pancakes. A LOT OF FOOD! Price wasn't bad. Portions were huge except the beet orange juice. My price was $21 before tip. This is my second time here. The first time was a great morning date quick bite. I had been wanting to come back since to spend more time...... and I did.... After the initial asking for my order...... before I looked at the menu.....I waited....... for that second time........ and waited for a checkin..... and I waited and waited for the check. I glad her down for the payment. I love open kitchen concepts. Very clean and modern.

When I asked about the wait time, the host joked that it was two hours. Under normal circumstances, I would have laughed and played along. Given what had just happened minutes earlier, it did not quite land... but to their credit, the moment I explained the situation, everything shifted. They sat me promptly and turned what could have been a lingering bad night into a completely different experience. Julio, my server, set the tone immediately. Julio was professional, attentive, and generous. He brought out meatballs on the house, which were excellent. I ordered calamari, rigatoni alla vodka with shrimp, and what I believe was a chocolate torte for dessert (also on the house, which I was not expecting). Everything was spot on. The rigatoni in particular stood out. It was made in house and had the kind of texture and quality you notice right away. The Manager (Lance) also stopped by, having been present when I explained what had happened earlier. That kind of awareness and follow-through matters more than people realize. It what separates a place that serves food from a place that understands hospitality. By the time I was finishing dessert, I found myself watching pizzas go out to nearby tables and immediately reconsidering my menu choices for the evening. That's usually a good sign. The host who initially joked about the wait time also came by at the end of my meal. She was polite, thoughtful, and clearly intentional about making sure the experience landed well. I appreciated this gesture. When the bill came, I asked what the total would have been without the discounts and complimentary items. Once I had that number, I tipped Julio the difference. It felt like the only appropriate way to reflect the level of service and generosity I received. I'll be back (for the pizza). Overall: Food (yes) Service (yes) Ambiance (yes)

We had to wait a little bit for a table so we sat at the bar because my friend and I aren't drinkers. We just had glasses of water while we waited for our table. Once we got seated, our server took our order relatively quickly and we ordered the House made for Kasha with a goat cheese and honey topping, the grilled octopus appetizer, and because we were enjoying our conversation so much we ended up just skipping Wright to dessert and ordering the gooey butter cake. For a light meal, this was relatively satisfactory. Our server said they come to the octopus because we waited so long, so it was nice that the staff was acknowledging that we waited a little bit for our table and we're willing to compensate us. As someone who lives in the river north area, I have actually been here, probably a dozen times, and it's always a good little spot but a little bit pricey for what you're getting. I would still probably come back with some friends, but I wouldn't go on my way to come here if I was bringing people off from out of town.

After doing a search on Yelp, I decided we should check out HIDE+SEEK. Ding ding ding! We have a winner folks. We decided to go with the Brunch Party. First let me start off saying that Brunch Party is one plate, one side, and endless mimosas. The entire table participation is required and there is a strict 1.5 hour time limit. That said, Angelique (was our server) was on point during that time period. Our glasses never got pass the half-way mark and a good time was had by all! HIDE+SEEK has a pretty chilled vibe and the décor was cool, a very nice bar area, booths on the east side of the restaurant and tables in the front. I think there was a back area, but can't for sure as I didn't explore as we were seated immediately in our booth. Angelique was very cool. She welcomed us and asked if it was our first time there (it was) and began to explain the menu, focusing on Brunch Party and that everyone at the table had to participate, which we did. For my entrée I got the Short Rib Hash (Sunny side up egg, piquillo pepper, red wine jus, rosemary mornay) and my side was Eggs Your Way (over easy). I got an order of the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (honey-whipped ricotta, blueberry compote, maple syrup) for the table. Both dishes were very nice. I am a sucker for anything with short rib meat in it and this hit well with me. The pancakes were good, nice and fluffy, and the compote was very good. They weren't as lemony as I have had at other restaurants. The flavor was there, but in a subtle way, almost like an afterthought, but still nice. The pancakes themselves were nice and fluffy, just they way I like them. The Doctor got the cheeseburger and fries, which looked nice. He cleaned his plate so I have to assume it was good. The Queen got the Steak and Eggs. I had a bite of the steak and it was tender and had a nice flavor to it. Overall we had a great time and while it was only an hour and a half, it seemed longer. I will totally come back here again for brunch, but want to check out their happy hour and dinner as well. The menus looks interesting.

She also had no idea about the wine, so my friend just rolled the dice on what she wanted without knowing much about it. She wound up liking it - but more clarity would've been helpful (or even seeking out someone else working there for more info!). Minor environment note: The largest artwork there is a triptych of photographs - three famous women: Princess Diana, Sharon Tate (I think?), and Marilyn Monroe. There is a horizontal band going across where their eyes all line up, and the band replaces their eyes with cartoon eyes, likely of Disney princesses. It is supposed to be quirky but I found it creepy, especially since it featured three famous women who met untimely ends.

I made this reservation more than a month in advance and was genuinely excited when I finally snagged a table. Thankfully, the meal delivered. The space itself is exactly what I hoped for--minimal, chic, and effortlessly cool. Nothing feels overdesigned or trendy for the sake of being trendy. The menu is also refreshingly approachable. It's creative without being overwhelming, and there's enough variety that everyone can find something they'll love. Before I even get into the food, I have to give a huge shoutout to our server, Kona. She was absolutely incredible and deserves a raise. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. Service like that elevates an entire meal. The drinks were fantastic too. Strong, well-balanced, and with enough variety that there's truly something for everyone. I had both a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned, and neither disappointed. The Manhattan was bold and spirit-forward, while the Old Fashioned was exactly what I wanted--strong, slightly sweet, and the perfect companion to dessert. To start, we ordered the Pita & Dips, and thank goodness we did. The pita itself is enormous, warm, and beautifully prepared. The dips were fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. It's one of those dishes that seems simple on paper but ends up being one of the most satisfying things on the table. The famous Green Beans absolutely lived up to the hype. Kona came by and suggested pairing them with the halibut, which is exactly the kind of thoughtful service that makes a difference. She didn't have to do that, but she did, and she was right. The green beans were incredible--crunchy, savory, addictive, and somehow far more exciting than green beans have any right to be. I'd honestly come back just for this dish. The Pan-Roasted Halibut was another standout. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. The acidity cut through the richness of the fish while the subtle sweetness tied everything together. It felt bright and refined without losing comfort-factor. The Goat Empanadas were exactly what fried food should be. Crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. Sometimes restaurants try to overcomplicate things, but this dish succeeded because it simply executed the fundamentals perfectly. Then came the Roasted Pig Face, which might have been the most fun dish of the night. Mixing everything together transformed the plate into something completely different from its individual parts. The textures were fantastic, and the potatoes added an element I wasn't expecting but thoroughly enjoyed. It's playful, creative, and a perfect example of why Girl & the Goat became famous in the first place. And then dessert happened. We ordered the Popcorn Situation, and I now understand why people talk about it. The combination of sweetness, saltiness, creaminess, and crunch somehow works perfectly. That cake, the cheese component, the salty notes - everything came together in a way that sounds unusual on paper but tastes absolutely incredible. Overall, Girl & the Goat lives up to its hype. I'll 100% be back
