Breakfast burrito with Jalapeño ranch, side potatoes, featuring fresh squeezed orange juice sneaking in at the top.
    Ralph D.

This review is long over due for me, Yolklore is one of my favorite breakfast spots around. I'm not sure I need to tell you how much I LOVE the breakfast burrito; you can tell how excited I am by the two bites taken before I remembered to snap a pic for my review. My first time trying this was around Covid, going through the drive thru and eating in the car with my girlfriend at the time (now wife). I have mostly ordered online and brought home, but they do have some self serve seating there if you want and can find a spot during busier times. I always have a hard time choosing anything other than the breakfast burrito, it is SO good and I could swim in the jalapeño ranch. But I've tried many different items including the breakfast sandwiches, continental breakfast, smash burger, countless weekend specials, and don't sleep on the gooey butter cake for dessert. I really have enjoyed everything I've tried. Orange juice is fresh squeezed and delicious. I don't get it all the time because it is a little expensive, but a delicious treat and a must for the first trip. Different coffee options are good and do the trick for what I want. I recommend following them on social media to see the different weekend specials and occasional collaborations with other local businesses for super tasty dishes. On second thought, be careful, because it always makes me hungry and crave a trip out to try everything they post. I've moved farther and farther away over the past 4-5 years but still make the trip for my top breakfast spot.

BYO Breakfast Sandwich scrambled egg, biscuit, cheddar, and bacon.

Create your own breakfast sandwich was amazing! I chose a biscuit with scrambled egg, cheddar and bacon. Yum! The bacon was excellent quality and the homemade biscuit was delicious. What a great breakfast spot. Order ahead on Uber Eats and pull through the drive thru! So convenient! Staff was friendly and my order was ready in about 8 minutes!

I had the classic breakfast carry out. 2eggs over easy w bacon and potatoes and a cheddar jalapeño biscuit. It was tasty. Service was a bit slow at the window and my food was cold when I got it. Yolklore is always a great choice for breakfast. Tiny dining room. Have never eaten in.

I needed a place to grab a quick bite and get a little work done. They offer dine in, take out, and drive thru. So many options to grab a great meal. The space is on the smaller side. There are several two and four top tables along with bar sitting. The bathrooms are immaculately clean. I stopped in at breakfast time. I placed my order at the counter and made my way to a table. There are several beverage options, but drip coffee was just what I was needing. My meal was made in quick order. I went with the breakfast burrito and was not disappointed in the least. Just a note: the burritos come premade, so no substitutions on this item. I was hesitant because the burrito contains turkey chorizo. Regular chorizo is too greasy for me, but the turkey version was light and flavorful. The burrito is grilled to perfection and served with a jalapeño ranch for dipping. The best part of this meal were the potatoes in the filling. They were soft and creamy and delicious. I added a little side of grapes for balance. Excellent meal and fantastic experience

Had some hungover takeaway from yolklore and it was ust what the doctor ordered. I rolled with the classic breakfast which incuded eggs, potatoes, bacon, and a biscuit. The biscuit was awesome. Flaky, crispy, and dense. A little strawberry compote and butter made it the perfect side. Next: the bacon. I am a lover of thick cut bacon so yolklore passes this test. Juicy, thick, and scrumptious. The breakfast potatoes were good too. 2 mini potatoes griddled and salted. Simple. Well executed. We also shared the pancake dippers. I have no idea what was n those things, but they were awesome. There was a little bit of extra flavor on the back end that I could not pinpoint. Perhaps vanilla, or maybe they just had a strong buttermilk flavor. Either way, they were superb. I would love to go back and die in for sure. I solid breakfast with tons of great options!

Good was delicious. The place is cute and well decorated. Service is counter ordering. We got the classic breakfast, falafel salad, and a byo breakfast sandwich.

Yolklore is my favorite place for breakfast in the STL area. Their food is so delicious. Debating if you should add on some breakfast potatoes? DO IT. They taste amazing. The staff are consistently kind and quick. The service moves so quickly that the seating turns over pretty fast, so it is easy to find a place to sit and eat, even when they are super busy. Don't let the look of the outside of the building deter you: it's super cute inside and you will be SO happy you started your day by eating here, I always am!

Got 2 sandwiches for lunch: the smoked pork and the roast beef sandwhich. Still can't decided which one was better because both were DELISH. The focaccia on the smoked pork was sooo soft and fluffy and light, combination of coleslaw with the pork was perfect. I thought there was no way the roast beef could be as good yet once again proven wrong. The challah was perfect and whatever cheese they had with the roast beef sandwhich was perfect. Pro tip: you can ask for the sandwiches to be heated up! As for the desserts: I really wanted a cake sweet treat but my eyes were bigger than my belly could handle. Got the maple pull, chocolate almond croissant , and ham and gruyere croissant. Which I cannot wait to eat tomorrow for breakfast!! Place is busy but moves fast. My friend spent a little extra time browsing all the pastry cases before finally making her selections and ordering a coffee as well. While we waited, we admired the beautiful cakes on display and talked about all the incredible-looking pastries. Honestly, I wish I could have ordered one of everything because that's what I really wanted to do! Pastries are one of my biggest weaknesses, and choosing just one or two items is never easy at a bakery like this. Everything looked delicious. In the end, I was very happy with my choices and enjoyed every bite. I even took the chocolate Napoleon home to share with my husband, and he happily helped me finish it. Last year, (I waited that long) I sent Simone, the owner, a message on instagram to let her know I was frustrated about having trouble getting any of the crème puffs she was constantly advertising. They were one of my favorite pastries she made. (Obv not super important I just thought she may not know & what could it hurt giving her some input from a customer, she may know know?) In this message I also told her how long I'd been supporting her & why and how much I loved her bakery. She is black, female, and truly an artist and master at her craft. With a good personality, That being said; she unleashed her fury on me, one of the angriest most condescending messages I had ever read. Not sure if I caught her on a bad day or she just doesn't handle feedback well. I was stunned and disappointed. Either way, I would never consider stepping foot into her bakery ever again. Her window has maybe 5 things to choose from. It's pretty sad, but there were 2 items I love love loved, and I drove out of my way and paid top dollar for those items. She's by far one of the most expensive bakeries in St. Louis, but I enjoyed supporting her I thought she was great. And she has a moving story. Sadly she doesn't know how to handle customers or feedback. I'm in customer service, 30 years, that's not how you do it, I still think she's a cool Person but not enough to support her. Honestly, if you judged it by the outside, you might drive right past it. There is one parking spot in front, and then a run down parking lot behind and to the side. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was back in my childhood. The lime green decor, the dark bakery display cases filled with buns, and the small plates of food inside reminded me of the Cantonese bakeries I grew up going to. They also had ready to go meals wrapped up to take home. We bought a bunch of things to try. We had the beef cheung fun, siu mai, BBQ pork baos, sesame balls, egg custard tarts, and one of my favorites, the giant round sponge cake. Everything was fresh and really tasty. The roast pork looked delicious too, with nice crispy skin. The biggest surprise for me was seeing lo po beng (Old Wife Cake). We can hardly ever find it on the East Coast, so whenever we do, we always buy some for my mom. Seeing it here made me so happy. I live in the Metro D.C. area, where we have some really good Cantonese bakeries, so I wasn't expecting much from this tiny place. But honestly, Wei Hong Bakery could definitely give many of the bakeries back home a run for their money. Don't let the outside fool you. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese bakery items in St. Louis, this little bakery is absolutely worth a visit. It brought back so many childhood memories, and I'd definitely stop again the next time I'm in town.
