Breakfast burrito with Jalapeño ranch, side potatoes, featuring fresh squeezed orange juice sneaking in at the top.
    Ralph D.

This review is long over due for me, Yolklore is one of my favorite breakfast spots around. I'm not sure I need to tell you how much I LOVE the breakfast burrito; you can tell how excited I am by the two bites taken before I remembered to snap a pic for my review. My first time trying this was around Covid, going through the drive thru and eating in the car with my girlfriend at the time (now wife). I have mostly ordered online and brought home, but they do have some self serve seating there if you want and can find a spot during busier times. I always have a hard time choosing anything other than the breakfast burrito, it is SO good and I could swim in the jalapeño ranch. But I've tried many different items including the breakfast sandwiches, continental breakfast, smash burger, countless weekend specials, and don't sleep on the gooey butter cake for dessert. I really have enjoyed everything I've tried. Orange juice is fresh squeezed and delicious. I don't get it all the time because it is a little expensive, but a delicious treat and a must for the first trip. Different coffee options are good and do the trick for what I want. I recommend following them on social media to see the different weekend specials and occasional collaborations with other local businesses for super tasty dishes. On second thought, be careful, because it always makes me hungry and crave a trip out to try everything they post. I've moved farther and farther away over the past 4-5 years but still make the trip for my top breakfast spot.

Create your own breakfast sandwich was amazing! I chose a biscuit with scrambled egg, cheddar and bacon. Yum! The bacon was excellent quality and the homemade biscuit was delicious. What a great breakfast spot. Order ahead on Uber Eats and pull through the drive thru! So convenient! Staff was friendly and my order was ready in about 8 minutes!

I had the classic breakfast carry out. 2eggs over easy w bacon and potatoes and a cheddar jalapeño biscuit. It was tasty. Service was a bit slow at the window and my food was cold when I got it. Yolklore is always a great choice for breakfast. Tiny dining room. Have never eaten in.

I needed a place to grab a quick bite and get a little work done. They offer dine in, take out, and drive thru. So many options to grab a great meal. The space is on the smaller side. There are several two and four top tables along with bar sitting. The bathrooms are immaculately clean. I stopped in at breakfast time. I placed my order at the counter and made my way to a table. There are several beverage options, but drip coffee was just what I was needing. My meal was made in quick order. I went with the breakfast burrito and was not disappointed in the least. Just a note: the burritos come premade, so no substitutions on this item. I was hesitant because the burrito contains turkey chorizo. Regular chorizo is too greasy for me, but the turkey version was light and flavorful. The burrito is grilled to perfection and served with a jalapeño ranch for dipping. The best part of this meal were the potatoes in the filling. They were soft and creamy and delicious. I added a little side of grapes for balance. Excellent meal and fantastic experience

Had some hungover takeaway from yolklore and it was ust what the doctor ordered. I rolled with the classic breakfast which incuded eggs, potatoes, bacon, and a biscuit. The biscuit was awesome. Flaky, crispy, and dense. A little strawberry compote and butter made it the perfect side. Next: the bacon. I am a lover of thick cut bacon so yolklore passes this test. Juicy, thick, and scrumptious. The breakfast potatoes were good too. 2 mini potatoes griddled and salted. Simple. Well executed. We also shared the pancake dippers. I have no idea what was n those things, but they were awesome. There was a little bit of extra flavor on the back end that I could not pinpoint. Perhaps vanilla, or maybe they just had a strong buttermilk flavor. Either way, they were superb. I would love to go back and die in for sure. I solid breakfast with tons of great options!

Yolklore is my favorite place for breakfast in the STL area. Their food is so delicious. Debating if you should add on some breakfast potatoes? DO IT. They taste amazing. The staff are consistently kind and quick. The service moves so quickly that the seating turns over pretty fast, so it is easy to find a place to sit and eat, even when they are super busy. Don't let the look of the outside of the building deter you: it's super cute inside and you will be SO happy you started your day by eating here, I always am!

    Breakfast Sandwich.

This was not a great lookin breakfast sandwich. I guess I forgot to add an egg or something.

    Josephine C.

Truly excellent food! They often have rotating specials so it's always fun to see what they'll have next. I went back in October and I got the Nest Egg, when they had that on their rotation, and that was delightful; the potatoes that came with it were well seasoned. My sister got a quiche and an apple dessert bar and those were equally as tasty! The staff does a wonderful job of providing a nice environment and the service is great; everyone is friendly. While seating is somewhat limited if they're busy, a spot usually opens up, but they also have a drive-thru.

Songbird makes great use of its space and should be near the top of your STL brunch list. A reasonably-sized (not-overwhelming) menu, great coffee, delicious cocktails, quick, attentive service, and undeniably delicous food. I took off on a redeye this morning (coffee courtesy of Blueprint), and landed on the Farm Sampler: two scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon, sourdough toast, sliced avocado and sauteed shiitake mushrooms. Phenomenal flavors and textures. Toast is typically an afterthought for me, but the buttery crunch of the sourdough has to be spotlighted. The Bee's Knees cocktail was also a wonderfully refreshing prelude to the approaching STL summer. The time has come, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say: wake up, reserve, enjoy.

I was very excited to try them but left knowing I would not return. I waited 40 minutes on a weekday morning for a bar seat for one, standing because all the waiting area seats were taken. The hostess/waitress was very nice when she got to me, but you could tell that the amount of customers was simply too much to handle. Now, this was okay - I should have made a reservation, and it's not the staff's fault they were overwhelmed. However, the service once I sat down was patchy, delayed and distracted. I had to remind different servers of my presence, multiple times. I was willing to overlook this if the food had been fantastic, but unfortunately, their most popular item, the combo breakfast sandwich, was so incredibly heavy. The first bite was crispy, oily and fatty deliciousness, but by the third bite it was simply too rich. The sweet overtone of the honey was lovely but did not cut through the grease. By the time I finished half, I understood why several diners had left the other half uneaten. My personal preference is for a fresh, umami yet balanced sandwich that does not make me feel queasy after finishing it. This was not the sandwich for me. There was a long delay after I finished eating for them to bring me the check. My whole meal took around 2.5 hours. I had arrived starving and, I like to think, with an open mind. These are my honest, unfiltered observations. It is wonderful that so many people want to try their food and that their new space is bigger. Their decor, glassware and menu were cute and tasteful. I also love that they grew from a farmers market food stall and that they source their ingredients locally. With their level of popularity, I think they should focus on preserving the quality of their service and food.

We thought we had to wait for a long time, but it actually went quick (like 5 minutes) when we got there. We did not realize this place had an upstairs, until our waiter guided us. This place looks very large on the inside compared to what it looks like on the outside. The restaurant also had an rustic atmosphere. With exposed pipes, rusted decor, and 80's memorabilia on the shelf. We ordered coffee here, and one of them came in a Christmas cup. Even though it was six months away. My wife chuckled on how they served her coffee in a Christmas cup. Mine came in a plain white cup. But I still excessively chuckled on how funny the menu is and the staff are. The staff are very attentive to how your food tastes and make plenty of funny jokes with you. They also are very descriptive on what the specials on pancakes and omelettes are. As well as being very honest. I ordered the Benny's Got Beef Or Belly with Brisket. I know, long name. I watched the weather while my food was being prepared, and occasionally looking at the PBS TV nearby. My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. Very amazing place. Will come again.

Instead, we took time to get ready and I even ran a few errands before checking in with the host. When I did check in, he let me know there would be another 15-20 minutes before a table was ready. It was a chilly day and sort of drizzly the day we went, so we had to hang out inside to wait for the table which was a little awkward, but we made it work. Once our table was ready, we had a server who brought over water and coffee right away. She even told us about the specials for the day and my friend and I were sold with the poached pear pancakes! After a few minutes, our server came back and we placed our orders and also asked for some refils of our drinks. When the food was delivered to the table, it was hot and fresh and looked amazing. My friend and I shared the pancakes and were so happy to be able to sample both kinds. While my other friend went with a more healthy meal of eggs with bacon and an english muffin. Our server came over to check in on us a few times and made sure we were good. When it was time to pay the bill, we took care of htat quickly and were on our way. Honestly, the wait sucks for this spot, but the food delivers everytime and I recommend visiting for brunch if you are in the area. Just be sure to get on the waitlist or else you will be told a crazy wait time upon arrival.

Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!
